In this paper, we consider the n-widths and average widths of Besov classes in the usual Sobolev spaces. The weak asymptotic results concerning the Kolmogorov n-widths, the linear n-widths, the Gel'fand n-widths, in the Sobolev spaces on T^d, and the infinite-dimensional widths and the average widths in the Sobolev spaces on Ra are obtained, respectively.  相似文献

We consider a modified version of the Seiberg–Witten invariants for rational homology 3-spheres, obtained by adding to the original invariants a correction term which is a combination of -invariants. We show that these modified invariants are topological invariants. We prove that an averaged version of these modified invariants equals the Casson–Walker invariant. In particular, this result proves an averaged version of a conjecture of Ozsváth and Szabó on the equivalence between their invariant and the Seiberg–Witten invariant of rational homology 3-spheres.  相似文献

The Nevalinna–Pick algorithm yields a continued fraction expansion of every Schur function, whose approximants are identified. These approximants are quotients of rational functions which can be understood as the rational analogs of the Wall polynomials. The properties of these Wall rational functions and the corresponding approximants permit us to obtain a Khrushchev’s formula for orthogonal rational functions. An introduction to the convergence of the Wall approximants in the indeterminate case is presented. Considering regular mappings of Euclidean spaces, we study the distortion of the Hausdorff dimension of a given set under restrictions on the rank of the gradient on the set. This problem was solved for the classical cases of k-smooth and Hölder mappings by Dubovitskii, Bates, and Moreira. We solve the problem for Sobolev and fractional Sobolev classes as well. Here we study the Sobolev case under minimal integrability assumptions that guarantee in general only the continuity of a mapping (rather than differentiability everywhere). Some new facts are found out in the classical smooth case. The proofs are mostly based on our previous joint papers with Bourgain and Kristensen (2013, 2015).

Bayesian networks have become one of the major models used for statistical inference. In this paper we discuss the properties of the inner product spaces and concept class induced by some special Bayesian networks and the problem whether there exists a Bayesian network such that lower bound on dimensional inner product space just is some positive integer. We focus on two-label classification tasks over the Boolean domain. As main results we show that lower bound on the dimension of the inner product space induced by a class of Bayesian networks without v-structures is where m i denotes the number of parents for ith variable. As the variable’s number of Bayesian network is n≤5, we also show that for each integer m∈[n+1,2 n −1] there is a Bayesian network such that VC dimension of concept class and lower bound on dimensional inner product space induced by all are m. An approximation theory by bandlimited functions (≡ Paley-Wiener functions) on Riemannian manifolds of bounded geometry is developed. Based on this theory multiscale approximations to smooth functions in Sobolev and Besov spaces on manifolds are obtained. The results have immediate applications to the filtering, denoising and approximation and compression of functions on manifolds. There exists applications to problems arising in data dimension reduction, image processing, computer graphics, visualization and learning theory.   相似文献

A weight ring in type A is the coordinate ring of the GIT quotient of the variety of flags in ℂ n modulo a twisted action of the maximal torus in SL(n,ℂ). We show that any weight ring in type A is generated by elements of degree strictly less than the Krull dimension, which is at worst O(n 2). On the other hand, we show that the associated semigroup of Gelfand–Tsetlin patterns can have an essential generator of degree exponential in n.  相似文献

The theory of group classification of differential equations is analyzed, substantially extended and enhanced based on the new notions of conditional equivalence group and normalized class of differential equations. Effective new techniques are proposed. Using these, we exhaustively describe admissible point transformations in classes of nonlinear (1+1)-dimensional Schrödinger equations, in particular, in the class of nonlinear (1+1)-dimensional Schrödinger equations with modular nonlinearities and potentials and some subclasses thereof. We then carry out a complete group classification in this class, representing it as a union of disjoint normalized subclasses and applying a combination of algebraic and compatibility methods. Moreover, we introduce the complete classification of (1+2)-dimensional cubic Schrödinger equations with potentials. The proposed approach can be applied to studying symmetry properties of a wide range of differential equations.  相似文献

Recently, O’Hara, Pillay and Xu (Nonlinear Anal. 54, 1417–1426, 2003) considered an iterative approach to finding a nearest common fixed point of infinitely many nonexpansive mappings in a Hilbert space. Very recently, Takahashi and Takahashi (J. Math. Anal. Appl. 331, 506–515, 2007) introduced an iterative scheme by the viscosity approximation method for finding a common element of the set of solutions of an equilibrium problem and the set of fixed points of a nonexpansive mapping in a Hilbert space. In this paper, motivated by these authors’ iterative schemes, we introduce a new iterative approach to finding a common element of the set of solutions of an equilibrium problem and the set of common fixed points of infinitely many nonexpansive mappings in a Hilbert space. The main result of this work is a strong convergence theorem which improves and extends results from the above mentioned papers.  相似文献

A new class of alternative dual frames is introduced in the setting of finite frames for ℝ d . These dual frames, called Sobolev duals, provide a high precision linear reconstruction procedure for Sigma-Delta (ΣΔ) quantization of finite frames. The main result is summarized as follows: reconstruction with Sobolev duals enables stable rth order Sigma-Delta schemes to achieve deterministic approximation error of order O(N-r)\mathcal{O}(N^{-r}) for a wide class of finite frames of size N. This asymptotic order is generally not achievable with canonical dual frames. Moreover, Sobolev dual reconstruction leads to minimal mean squared error under the classical white noise assumption.  相似文献

We establish a Mayer–Vietoris long exact sequence for Witt groups of regular schemes. We also establish homotopy invariance for Witt groups of regular schemes. For this, we introduce Witt groups with supports using triangulated categories. Subsequently, we use these results to prove the Gersten–Witt conjecture for semi-local regular rings of geometric type over infinite fields of characteristic different from two.  相似文献

This paper lays the foundation for a theory of combinatorial groupoids that allows us to use concepts like “holonomy”, “parallel transport”, “bundles”, “combinatorial curvature”, etc. in the context of simplicial (polyhedral) complexes, posets, graphs, polytopes and other combinatorial objects. We introduce a new, holonomy-type invariant for cubical complexes, leading to a combinatorial “Theorema Egregium” for cubical complexes that are non-embeddable into cubical lattices. Parallel transport of Hom-complexes and maps is used as a tool to extend Babson–Kozlov–Lovász graph coloring results to more general statements about nondegenerate maps (colorings) of simplicial complexes and graphs. We consider an operator of Bernstein for symmetric functions and give an explicit formula for its action on an arbitrary Schur function. This formula is given in a remarkably simple form when written in terms of some notation based on the code of a partition. As an application, we give a new and very simple proof of a classical result for the KP hierarchy, which involves the Plücker relations for Schur function coefficients in a τ-function for the hierarchy. This proof is especially compact because we are able to restate the Plücker relations in a form that is symmetrical in terms of partition code notation.  相似文献

This is the first in a series of papers exploring the relationship between the Rohlin invariant and gauge theory. We discuss a Casson-type invariant of a 3-manifold Y with the integral homology of the 3-torus, given by counting projectively flat U(2)-connections. We show that its mod 2 evaluation is given by the triple cup product in cohomology, and so it coincides with a certain sum of Rohlin invariants of Y. Our counting argument makes use of a natural action of H 1 (Y;2) on the moduli space of projectively flat connections; along the way we construct perturbations that are equivariant with respect to this action. Combined with the Floer exact triangle, this gives a purely gauge-theoretic proof that Cassons homology sphere invariant reduces mod 2 to the Rohlin invariant.  相似文献
