The free energy of three-component dust plasma has been calculated analytically based on the spherical model of an elementary electroneutral volume. It has been shown that metastable states of dust particles, ions, and simultaneously all plasma particles can exist for finite interparticle distances. These states can be attained due to spatial correlation of electrons, while some states can be attained due to the correlation of ions. A large charge of dust particles, high electron temperature, and a small fraction of the charge of the electrons compared to the total absolute charge of the plasma particles are important conditions for the existence of metastable states. A possible connection between the existence of metastable states of particles in the plasma and their agglomeration has been analyzed.  相似文献

Laser-excited waves in a two-dimensional dust plasma crystal have been observed experimentally in a parallel plate rf discharge. The measured dispersion relation is compared with theoretical models. Agreement is found with dust lattice waves, whereas deviations from dust acoustic waves exist. From the dispersion relation of a dust lattice wave the screening of the particles in the rf sheath is determined.  相似文献

The formation and destruction of ordered dust structures in glow discharges are investigated experimentally. The initial construction phase of an ordered structure is related to the construction of its cooperative field and is determined by the number of particles and by the existence of crystallization centers. After the structure has been constructed, it influences the local plasma properties and the discharge current-voltage characteristics. The recovery of the structure after weak exposure takes place at local equilibrium, while, after intense exposure to high-voltage nanosecond pulses, it is determined by the fluctuation level and the degree of chaotization in the system.  相似文献

It is shown that the dust ion-acoustic (DIA) and dust acoustic (DA)-like perturbations can be excited by the electron density and ion density ripples, respectively. For this purpose, we use the relevant equations for the DIA and DA-like disturbances and derive the standard Mathieu equation. The latter admits unstable solutions, demonstrating that both the DIA and DA-like mode can be driven on account of the free energy in the plasma density ripples.  相似文献

The formation of strongly coupled stable dust structures in the plasma produced by an electron beam at atmospheric pressure was detected experimentally. Analytical expressions were derived for the ionization rate of a gas by an electron beam in an axially symmetric geometry by comparing experimental data with Monte Carlo calculations. Self-consistent one-dimensional simulations of the beam plasma were performed in the diffusion drift approximation of charged plasma particle transport with electron diffusion to determine the dust particle levitation conditions. Since almost all of the applied voltage drops on the cathode layer in the Thomson glow regime of a non-self-sustained gas discharge, a distribution of the electric field that grows toward the cathode is produced in it; this field together with the gravity produces a potential well in which the dust particles levitate to form a stable disk-shaped structure. The nonideality parameters of the dust component in the formation region of a highly ordered quasi-crystalline structure calculated using computational data for the dust particle charging problem were found to be higher than the critical value after exceeding which an ensemble of particles with a Yukawa interaction should pass to the crystalline state.  相似文献

The effect of dust particle concentration on gas discharge plasma parameters was studied through development of a self-consistent kinetic model which is based on solving the Boltzmann equation for the electron distribution function. It was shown that an increase in the Havnes parameter causes an increase in the average electric field and ion density, as well as a decrease in the charge of dust particles and electron density in a dust particle cloud. Self-consistent simulations for a wide range of plasma and dust particle parameters produced several scaling laws: these are laws for dust particle potential and electric field as a function of dust particle concentration and radius, and the discharge current density. The simulation results demonstrate that the process of self-consistent accommodation of parameters of dust particles and plasma in condition of particle concentration growth causes a growth in the number of high-energy electrons in plasma, but not to depletion of electron distribution function.  相似文献

本文通过提出电势影响因子的概念描述了尘埃粒子与背景等离子体之间的电势差对等离子体电导率的影响. 电势影响因子与尘埃粒子的电荷数、数密度、半径以及背景等离子体电子数密度成正比, 而与背景等离子体电子温度成反比. 在考虑尘埃粒子电势影响下, 推导和完善了尘埃等离子体的复电导率模型. 选取火箭喷焰为典型实例, 分析比较了微波和近红外波段范围内, 考虑和不考虑电势差影响两种情况下的复电导率. 结果表明, 在给定的尘埃等离子体参数条件下, 随着入射电磁波频率的增大, 电势差对复电导率的影响在减小, 当入射频率增加至给定的近红外区域时, 电势差对复电导率虚部的影响可以忽略.  相似文献

Hypocycloid and epicycloid motions of irregular grains(pine pollen) are observed for the first time in a dust plasma in a two-dimensional(2D) horizontal plane. These cycloid motions can be regarded as a combination of a primary circle and a secondary circle. An inverse Magnus force originating from the spin of the irregular grain gives rise to the primary circle.Radial confinement resulting from the electrostatic force and the ion drag force, together with inverse Magnus force, plays an important role in the formation of the secondary circle. In addition, the cyclotron radius is seen to change periodically during the cycloid motion. Force analysis and comparison experiments have shown that the cycloid motions are distinctive features of an irregular grain immersed in a plasma.  相似文献

The effects of dust size distribution and dust charge fluctuation of dust grains on the small but finite amplitude nonlinear dust ion-acoustic shock waves, in an unmagnetized multi-ion dusty plasma which contains negative ions, positive ions and electrons, are studied in this paper. A Burgers equation and its stationary solutions are obtained by using the reductive perturbation method. The analytical and numerical results show that the height with polynomial dust size distribution is larger than that of the monosized dusty plasmas with the same dust grains, but the thickness in the case of different dust grains is smaller than that of the monosized dusty plasmas. Furthermore, the moving speed of the shock waves also depend on different dust size distributions.  相似文献

Low-frequency oscillations in the density of dust particles, which are spontaneously excited in the standing plasma column of a dc glow discharge in neon, were experimentally studied. The longitudinal waves were monitored by a special visualization technique, and the dust sound oscillation characteristics were determined and analyzed using specially developed algorithm and data processing software. It was established that the longitudinal waves propagate from anode to cathode, the frequency and wavevector of the dust sound oscillations being dependent on the discharge current, gas pressure, particle density in the dust cloud, and spatial coordinates. Two-dimensional (2D) fields of the main wave characteristics were studied using an original algorithm. The possible mechanisms of excitation of the dust sound oscillations is discussed. The experimental spatial distributions of the wave parameters are compared to the patterns obtained within the framework of various theoretical models.  相似文献

Nonlinear adiabatic models of ion-acoustic waves in a dust plasma are developed. The problem of the structure of subsonic periodic and supersonic solitary ion-acoustic waves is exactly solved analytically under the assumption of a constant charge of dust particles; the critical Mach numbers for the solitary wave are determined. Linear and nonlinear studies of dust lattice waves in a dusty plasma crystal have been carried out on the basis of the Schrödinger equation which is deduced from Poisson's equation for small dust grain potentials. The spatial distribution of the potential in the dust-lattice includes the effect of the whole system of the dust particles. Such a self-consistent analysis gives a dispersion relation for the dust lattice wave, which is different from the expression found earlier. The frequency of the lattice oscillation increases considerably for large grain charges. Furthermore, it is found that an ideal lattice can only exist if the dusty plasma parameters satisfy a definite relationship between the dusty plasma Debye radius, the inter-grain separation, and the grain size. Finally, accounting for the weak nonlinearities, we also derive a Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) equation for the nonlinear dust lattice waves in the long wavelength approximation (kd≪1), where k is the wave number and d the inter-grain spacing.  相似文献

An experimental technique for studying the injection of dust jets into the plasma of a glow discharge in air is developed. The velocity and flight time of a dust jet are measured under different initial conditions. It is shown that the propagation of dust grains in plasma is accompanied by self-contraction instability along and across the discharge, which leads to dust agglomerization and clusterization.  相似文献
