The rate of absorption (both long and short timescale) of typical heatset offset printing ink oils, namely mineral and linseed oil, has been studied on model ground calcium carbonate coating pigment tablets containing various amounts of either styrene–acrylic or styrene–butadiene binder. The pore structure characteristics of the tablets were determined using mercury intrusion porosimetry. The movement of the oils both on the surface of and within the porous structure of the pigment/binder tablets was studied under the influence of pressure-less capillary flow with subsequent diffusion through the connected void volume of the tablet. The wetting was analyzed by near-infrared (NIR) diffuse reflectance spectroscopy both as a single probe measurement and by hyperspectral imaging. The results showed that the rate of oil filling the structure was strongly dependent on the binder amount in the structure as well as the binder chemistry (oil- or non-absorbing binder), which supports previous findings. The liquid properties, and especially the viscosity of the liquid (oil), influenced the absorption rate. The gradients in absorbance indicated the presence of latex blocking access to some pores and reducing connectivity.  相似文献

A new approach for solving the laminar flow problem above a porous medium is presented here, using an apparent interface for which both superficial velocity and intrinsic shear stress are continuous. The derivation of this approach is based on a detailed investigation of the Ochoa-Tapia and Whitaker (Int. J. Heat Mass Transfer 38:2635–2646, 1995a) jump condition and its sensitivity to the value of β (the jump condition coefficient) and to an error in the interface location. While the value of the jump condition coefficient is highly sensitive to the interface location, the new apparent interface approach does not require an a priori information about the location of the interface. This approach can be easily used knowing only one measurable parameter—the maximum velocity or the flow rate. Validation of the apparent interface approach against measurements from other works shows that it can be successfully used to predict the velocity profile for different geometrical models.  相似文献

We report optical observations of the dissolution behaviour of glycerol/water, soybean oil/hexane, and isobutyric acid (IBA)/water binary mixtures within a glass micromodel built as a 2D regular network of capillary tubes with diameter of 0.2 mm. The micromodel is initially filled with solute and then is horizontally immersed into a thermostatic solvent-filled bath. The micromodel is open at its corners for solute dissolution to occur with no pressure gradients being applied. Our study shows that the solvent penetration into the micromodel is diffusion-dominated in completely miscible binary mixtures (glycerol/water and soybean oil/hexane). This is, however, non-Fickian diffusion with the dissolution rate, dV/dt, being proportional to $D^{1/3}t^{-0.4}$ for almost the entire duration of the experiment (V is the volume occupied by the solvent, D is the diffusion coefficient, and t is time). For the partially miscible IBA/water mixture the experiments performed at undercritical temperatures revealed that the diffusive transport was negligible despite the mixture being out of its thermodynamic equilibrium. The water phase penetrated into some of the channels, but IBA was never completely displaced/dissolved from the micromodel and numerous interfaces remained visible after very long-time periods.  相似文献

Numerically investigation of free convection within a porous cavity with differential heating has been performed using modified corrugated side walls. Sinusoidal hot left and cold right walls are assumed to receive sudden differentially heating where top and bottom walls are insulated. Air is considered as working fluid and is quiescent, initially. Numerical experiments reveal 3 distinct stages of developing pattern including initial stage, oscillatory intermediate, and finally steady-state condition. Implicit Finite Volume Method with TDMA solver is used to solve the governing equations. This study has been performed for the Rayleigh numbers ranging from 100 to 10,000. Outcomes have been reported in terms of isotherms, streamline, velocity and temperature plots and average Nusselt number for various Ra, corrugation frequency, and corrugation amplitude (CA). The effects of sudden differential heating and its resultant transient behavior on fluid flow and heat transfer characteristics have been shown for the range of governing parameters. The present results show that the transient phenomena are enormously influenced by the variation of the Rayleigh Number with CA and frequency.  相似文献

Modeling of the processes of elution from porous systems is essential importance for development of the removing oily contaminations from the soils and intensification of the oil recovery processes. In the paper, capillary model of gravitational elution of high viscosity substances from the porous medium by using low viscosity liquids was derived. This model allowed for the prediction of changes in time of such parameters like: level of bed saturation with oil, relative bed permeability, liquid flow rate, flow resistance, volume of eluted liquid during the process. When modeling, phenomena and the physical properties associated with the analyzed process, such as, for example, the effects of surface tension, fluids viscosity, specific size of the granular bed, initial oil saturation of bed, variable process driving force, and the flow of liquid through the preferential flow paths, were taken into account. This allowed for the more complete imaging of elution process. The model has been verified on the basis of the results of experimental studies. In addition, the discussion on the behavior of the model due to changes in values of various parameters was carried out.  相似文献

Analytical solutions are obtained for two problems of transverse internal waves in a viscous fluid contacting with a flat layer of a fixed porous medium. In the first problem, the waves are considered which are caused by the motion of an infinite flat plate located on the fluid surface and performing harmonic oscillations in its plane. In the second problem, the waves are caused by periodic shear stresses applied to the free surface of the fluid. To describe the fluid motion in the porous medium, the unsteady Brinkman equation is used, and the motion of the fluid outside the porous medium is described by the Navier–Stokes equation. Examples of numerical calculations of the fluid velocity and filtration velocity profiles are presented. The existence of fluid layers with counter-directed velocities is revealed.  相似文献

We study numerically and experimentally the displacement of a liquid by a gas in a two-dimensional model porous medium. In contrast with previous pore network studies on drainage in porous media, the gas pressurization is fully taken into account. The influence of the gas injection rate on the displacement pattern, breakthrough time and the evolution of the pressure in the gas phase due in part to gas compressibility are investigated. A good agreement is found between the simulations and the experiments as regards the invasion patterns. The agreement is also good on the drainage kinetics when the dynamic liquid films are taken into account.  相似文献

We present an optical detection technique, called the beam deflection probe, to accurately measure contact times of normal-incidence impacts of steel and sapphire spheres with a transparent glass block. It exploits the deformation of the area that is in a mechanical touch during the rebound. The deformation of the surface acts as a dynamic contact mirror. When illuminated by a laser beam, total internal reflection takes place at the contact mirror, the beam is deflected from it, and its angular deflection history is monitored by a quadrant photodiode. A simple threshold-level data processing of the photodiode signals is used to determine the impact duration. It is shown that the shape of the signal is highly dependent on the location of the impact relative to the center of the laser-beam illuminated area while the determination of the contact time does not depend on the impact position. Using an automated ball release mechanism, the contact time of low-velocity impacts was measured for various ball diameters and approach velocities conforming to the Hertz contact theory. The proposed optical detection of contact times supplements the existing measurement techniques and represents the only alternative to the piezoelectric detection when contact times are to be measured on the microsecond scale.  相似文献

风沙环境的侵蚀和劣化作用严重影响着基础设施的安全耐久性.本文根据风沙环境特点,利用气流挟沙喷射法对钢结构涂层进行冲蚀试验,研究了涂层在风沙环境下的冲蚀磨损特性、冲蚀行为和侵蚀机理.结果表明:涂层磨损量随沙剂量和冲蚀速度的增加而增加;侵蚀机理为在低角度冲蚀下,涂层主要受微切削作用,而在高角度冲蚀下,主要受冲蚀挤压变形作用,由于涂层强度低而韧性较好,其在低角度冲蚀下的磨损更为严重.  相似文献

A pore-network model of evaporation of a binary liquid mixture into a ternary gas phase is developed. The model is applied to study the influence of surface tension gradients induced by composition variations of the liquid on the phase distribution within a capillary porous medium. Numerical simulations based on the proposed model show that the surface tension gradients lead to the accumulation of liquid near the open edge of the network. This surface tension gradient effect is only significant for weakly disordered porous media.  相似文献

A plane harmonic problem of vertical vibrations of a rigid permeable stamp on a liquid saturated poroelastic base is considered. The equations of two-phase Biot media, which take into account inertial and viscous interactions of phases, are used. Mesoscopic modeling at the pore scale offers great promise in exploring the underlying structure transport performance of flow through porous media. The present work studies the fluid flow subjected to capillarity-induced resonance in porous media characterized by different porous structure and wettability. The effects of porosity and wettability on the displacement behavior of the fluid flow through porous media are discussed. The results are presented in the form of temporal evolution of percentage saturation and displacement of the fluid front through porous media. The present study reveals that the vibration in the form of acoustic excitation could be significant in the mobilization of fluid through the porous media. The dependence of displacement of the fluid on physicochemical parameters like wettability of the surface, frequency along with the porosity is analyzed. It was observed that the mean displacement of the fluid is more in the case of invading fluid with wetting phase where the driving force strength is not so dominant.  相似文献

The onset of thermal convection in an isothermally heated, horizontal porous layer saturated with viscoelastic liquid was analyzed analytically under the linear theory. An existing constitutive model, which is rather simple, was employed to examine the effects of relaxation times. It is shown clearly that oscillatory instabilities can set in before stationary modes are exhibited. The peculiar behavior of the frequency at the critical state was discussed in connection to polymeric liquids.  相似文献

制备了含碳纳米管的二相流润滑剂,利用自制的球-棒疲劳试验机研究了碳纳米管对钢球接触疲劳寿命的影响;利用扫描电子显微镜分析了碳纳米管抗滚动接触疲劳机理.结果表明:与基础油相比,含1%质量分数碳纳米管的二相流体润滑剂可以使钢球的接触疲劳寿命L10提高3倍以上;当碳纳米管含量增加到3%时,钢球的接触疲劳寿命基本保持不变;利用微粒吸附模型和微粒垫衬模型可以较好地解释碳纳米管提高钢球接触疲劳寿命的原因.  相似文献

We investigate the convection amplitude in an infinite porous layer subjected to a vibration body force that is collinear with the gravitational acceleration and heated from below. The analysis focuses on the specific case of low frequency vibration where the frozen time approximation is used. The results reveal that for moderate Vadasz numbers, increasing the magnitude of the acceleration stabilizes the convection. The results of the large Vadasz number analysis reveals that the acceleration plays a passive role in the stability of convection and the classical stability criteria for Rayleigh–Benard convection applies.  相似文献

The basis of the proposed method is the information-capacity phenomenon of a drying drop – the kinetics of a self-organization process, which, in the same environment, is determined solely by the composition and inner structure of the liquid. A drop of tested liquid of volume 5 l dries up on the surface of a quartz resonator oscillating with ultrasound velocity. We examine the shear characteristics of a drop, which are extremely sensitive to the occurrence and rise of new-phase structures. The measured quantity is the acoustic-mechanical impedance (AMI) of a drying drop, and the drying dynamics is displayed in the form of two curves, corresponding to the real and imaginary parts of AMI. Their shape is an ID characteristic of the liquid under the same conditions of temperature and humidity. The drying process, represented in the phase plot or in the phase space, changed under the action of external physical factors, such as ultraviolet irradiation, magnetic field, different smells, and dissolvent adding. The relaxation time and solution memory were demonstrated, using salt, protein-salt solutions, and multi-component liquids of different nature.  相似文献

The mixed convection boundary-layer flow on a horizontal impermeable surface embedded in a saturated porous medium and driven by a local heat source is considered. Similarity solutions are obtained for specific outer flow variations and these are shown to have a solution only for parameter values greater than some critical value. When this is not the case the solution develops a singularity at a finite distance from the leading edge. The nature of this singularity is also discussed.  相似文献
