We show that the spaces M 0(T) and M0(D)M_{0}(\mathcal {D}) cannot be identified, D\mathcal {D} being the Cantor group n=1{±}. Our motivation is guided by the role M 0 measures play in uniform distribution problems, via the Davenport, Erdòs, LeVeque theorem.  相似文献

Let n≥5 and let be an irreducible nonlinear character of Sn such that whenever σ is a transposition or a cycle of length three; furthermore let Tn be the (0, 1)-matrix of order n that has ones exactly on and below the upper neighbours of the main diagonal and denote by Eij the matrix of order n with 1 in position (i, j) and 0 elsewhere.

Given i,jε{1,…,n}, with i+1<j, we prove that if j?i≠3, then in the subspace Mn (Tn +Eij there exist matrices for which the immanant is not convertible into the immanant by sign-affixing. Abusing language, we say that the space is -inconvertible, and show that spaces Mn (Tn +E25 ) and Mn (Tn +En?3,n ). We also state some sufficient fonditions for the subspace Mn (Tn ) to be external convertible.

With some exceptions our theorems say that the coordinate subspaces found for the conversion of the permanent into the determinant by Gibson around 1970 are also best possible for other immanants.  相似文献

We perform a spectral analysis of the preconditioned Hermitian/skew‐Hermitian splitting (PHSS) method applied to multilevel block Toeplitz linear systems in which the coefficient matrix Tn(f) is associated with a Lebesgue integrable matrix‐valued function f. When the preconditioner is chosen as a Hermitian positive definite multilevel block Toeplitz matrix Tn(g), the resulting sequence of PHSS iteration matrices Mn belongs to the generalized locally Toeplitz class. In this case, we are able to compute the symbol ?(f,g) describing the asymptotic eigenvalue distribution of Mnwhen n and the matrix size diverges. By minimizing the infinity norm of the spectral radius of the symbol ?(f,g), we are also able to identify effective PHSS preconditioners Tn(g) for the matrix Tn(f). A number of numerical experiments are presented and commented, showing that the theoretical results are confirmed and that the spectral analysis leads to efficient PHSS methods. It is shown that if φ?∈?Φ𝔽(n,?m), then there exists T?∈?GL m (𝔽) such that φ(A)?=?T?[A???I p ?⊕?A t ???I q ?⊕?0]T??1 for every A?∈?M n (𝔽), where I 0?=?0. Let T be a Wakamatsu tilting module. A module M is called (n, T)-copure injective (resp. (n, T)-copure flat) if ɛ T 1 (N, M) = 0 (resp. Γ1 T (N, M) = 0) for any module N with T-injective dimension at most n (see Definition 2.2). In this paper, it is shown that M is (n, T)-copure injective if and only if M is the kernel of an I n (T)-precover f: AB with A ∈ Prod T. Also, some results on Prod T-syzygies are presented. For instance, it is shown that every nth Prod T-syzygy of every module, generated by T, is (n, T)-copure injective.  相似文献

Let U k be the general Boolean algebra and T a linear operator on M m,n (U k ). If for any A in M m,n (U k ) (M n (U k ), respectively), A is regular (invertible, respectively) if and only if T(A) is regular (invertible, respectively), then T is said to strongly preserve regular (invertible, respectively) matrices. In this paper, we will give complete characterizations of the linear operators that strongly preserve regular (invertible, respectively) matrices over U k . Meanwhile, noting that a general Boolean algebra U k is isomorphic to a finite direct product of binary Boolean algebras, we also give some characterizations of linear operators that strongly preserve regular (invertible, respectively) matrices over 169-7 k from another point of view.  相似文献

We determine the fundamental group of a closed n-manifold of positive sectional curvature on which a torus Tk (k large) acts effectively and isometrically. Our results are: (A) If k>(n − 3)/4 and n ≥ 17, then the fundamental group π1(M) is isomorphic to the fundamental group of a spherical 3-space form. (B) If k ≥ (n/6)+1 and n≠ 11, 15, 23, then any abelian subgroup of π1(M) is cyclic. In this article, we study the implication of the primitivity of a matrix near-ring ${\mathbb{M}_n(R) (n >1 )}${\mathbb{M}_n(R) (n >1 )} and that of the underlying base near-ring R. We show that when R is a zero-symmetric near-ring with identity and \mathbbMn(R){\mathbb{M}_n(R)} has the descending chain condition on \mathbbMn(R){\mathbb{M}_n(R)}-subgroups, then the 0-primitivity of \mathbbMn(R){\mathbb{M}_n(R)} implies the 0-primitivity of R. It is not known if this is true when the descending chain condition on \mathbbMn(R){\mathbb{M}_n(R)} is removed. On the other hand, an example is given to show that this is not true in the case of generalized matrix near-rings.  相似文献

It is proved that if the point-to-set mapping M loc (·) is lower semicontinuous at p then M loc (p) is a nonempty set which consists of at most ? m,n points, where ? m,n = is the maximal cardinality of the antichains of distinct subsets of {1,2,...,m} which have at most n elements. It is proved also that the lower semicontinuity of M(·) at p implies that M(p) is a singleton. Under some regularity assumption, these necessary conditions become the sufficient ones. A tournament is an orientation of the edges of a complete graph. An arc is pancyclic in a tournament T if it is contained in a cycle of length l, for every 3 ≤ l ≤ |T|. Let p(T) denote the number of pancyclic arcs in a tournament T. In 4 , Moon showed that for every non‐trivial strong tournament T, p(T) ≥ 3. Actually, he proved a somewhat stronger result: for any non‐trivial strong tournament h(T) ≥ 3 where h(T) is the maximum number of pancyclic arcs contained in the same hamiltonian cycle of T. Moreover, Moon characterized the tournaments with h(T) = 3. All these tournaments are not 2‐strong. In this paper, we investigate relationship between the functions p(T) and h(T) and the connectivity of the tournament T. Let pk(n) := min {p(T), T k‐strong tournament of order n} and hk(n) := min{h(T), T k‐strong tournament of order n}. We conjecture that (for k ≥ 2) there exists a constant αk> 0 such that pk(n) ≥ αkn and hk(n) ≥ 2k+1. In this paper, we establish the later conjecture when k = 2. We then characterized the tournaments with h(T) = 4 and those with p(T) = 4. We also prove that for k ≥ 2, pk(n) ≥ 2k+3.
