Molybdenum (0.5 at%) doped indium oxide thin films deposited by spray pyrolysis technique were irradiated by 100 MeV O7+ ions with different fluences of 5×1011, 1×1012 and 1×1013 ions/cm2. Intensity of (222) peak of the pristine film was decreased with increase in the ion fluence. Films irradiated with the maximum ion fluence of 1×1013 ions/cm2 showed a fraction of amorphous nature. The surface microstructures on the surface of the film showed that increase in ion fluence decreases the grain size. Mobility of the pristine molybdenum doped indium oxide films was decreased from ~122 to 48 cm2/V s with increasing ion fluence. Among the irradiated films the film irradiated with the ion fluence of 5×1011 ions/cm2 showed relatively low resistivity of 6.7×10?4 Ω cm with the mobility of 75 cm2/V s. The average transmittance of the as-deposited IMO film is decreased from 89% to 81% due to irradiation with the fluence of 5×1011 ions/cm2.  相似文献

NiO thin films grown on Si (100) substrate by electron beam evaporation method and sintered at 700 °C were irradiated with 200 MeV Au15+ ions. The fcc structure of the sintered films was retained up to the highest fluence (1×1013 ions cm?2) of irradiation. However the microstructure of the pristine film underwent a considerable modification with increasing ion fluence. 200 MeV Au ion irradiation led to compressive stress generation in NiO medium. The diameter of the stressed region created by 200 MeV Au ions along the ion path was estimated from the variation of stress with ion fluence and found to be ~11.6 nm. The film surface started cracking when irradiated at and above the fluence of 3×1012 ions cm?2. Ratio of the fractal dimension of the cracked surface obtained at 200 MeV and 120 MeV (Mallick et al., 2010a) Au ions was compared with the ratio of the radii of ion tracks calculated based on Coulomb explosion and thermal spike models. This comparison indicated applicability of thermal spike model for crack formation.  相似文献

Polyethylene terephthalte (PET) was irradiated with carbon (70 MeV) and copper (120 MeV) ions to analyze the induced modifications with respect to optical, structural and thermal properties. In the present investigation, the fluence for carbon irradiation was varied from 1×1011 to 1×1014 ions cm−2, while that for copper beam was kept in the range of 1×1011 to 1×1013 ions cm−2. UV–vis, FTIR, XRD and DSC techniques were utilized to study the induced changes. The analysis of UV–vis absorption studies reveals that there is decrease of optical energy gap up to 10% on carbon ion irradiation (at 1×1014 ions cm−2), whereas the copper beam (at 1×1013 ions cm−2) leads to a decrease of 49%. FTIR analysis indicated the formation of alkyne end groups along with the overall degradation of polymer with copper ion irradiation. X-ray diffraction analysis revealed that the semi-crystalline PET losses its crystallinity on swift ion irradiation. It was found that the carbon beam (1×1014 ions cm−2) decreased the crystallite size by 16% whereas this decrease is of 12% in case of the copper ion irradiated PET at 1×1013 ions cm−2. The loss in crystallinity on irradiation has been supported by DSC thermograms.  相似文献

Polycarbonate (Makrofol-N) and polystyrene thin films were irradiated with protons (3 MeV) under vacuum at room temperature with the fluence ranging from 1×1014 to 1×1015 protons cm−2. The change in optical properties, degradation of the functional groups and crystallinity of the proton-irradiated polymers were investigated with UV–vis, Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) techniques, respectively. The UV–vis analysis revealed that the optical band gap of irradiated Makrofol-N is reduced by 30% as compared to 27.5% in polystyrene at highest fluence of 1×1015 protons cm−2, owing to higher electronic energy loss of protons in Makrofol-N. The calculations of the number of carbon atoms per conjugation length, N and number of carbon atoms per clusters, M embedded in the network of polymers further revealed that Makrofol-N is more modified as compared to polystyrene on proton irradiation. FTIR results reveal the reduction in absorption intensity of the main characteristic bands of both the polymers after irradiation. The proton-irradiated Makrofol-N shows a strong decrease of almost all of its characteristic absorption bands at about 1×1014 protons cm−2. Beyond a critical dose an increase of almost all its characteristic bands are noticed, however, no such effect had been observed in polystyrene at this particular fluence. Appearance of new –OH groups was observed at the higher fluences in the FTIR spectra of both proton-irradiated polymers. XRD measurements show the decrease of the main peak intensity and the crystallite size, confirming the increase of amorphization in polymers under irradiation.  相似文献

Low-density polyethylene (LDPE) was irradiated with proton (3 MeV) and copper (120 MeV) ions to analyze the induced modifications with respect to optical and structural properties. In the present investigation, the fluence for proton irradiation was varied up to 2×1015 protons cm−2, while that for copper beam was kept in the range of 1×101 to 1×1013 ions cm−2 to study the swift heavy ion-induced modifications in LDPE. Ultraviolet–visible (UV–vis), FTIR and X-ray diffraction (XRD) techniques were utilized to study the induced changes. The analysis of UV–vis absorption studies reveals that there is decrease of optical energy gap up to 43% on proton irradiation (at 2×1015 ions cm−2), whereas the copper beam (at 1×1013 ions cm−2) leads to a decrease of 51%. FTIR analysis indicated the presence of unsaturations due to vinyl end groups in the irradiated sample. The formation of OH and CO groups has also been observed. XRD analysis revealed that the semi-crystalline LDPE losses its crystallinity on swift ion irradiation. It was found that the proton beam (2×1015 ions cm−2) decreased the crystallite size by 23% whereas this decrease is of 31% in case of the copper ion-irradiated LDPE at 1×1013 ions cm−2.  相似文献

The effects of swift heavy ion irradiation on the structural characteristics of Polyethylene naphthalate (PEN) were studied. Samples were irradiated in vacuum at room temperature by lithium (50 MeV), carbon (85 MeV), nickel (120 MeV) and silver (120 MeV) ions with the fluence in the range of 1×1011–3×1012  ions cm−2. Ion induced changes were analyzed using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infra red (FT-IR), UV–visible spectroscopy, thermo-gravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) techniques. Cross-linking was observed at lower doses resulting in modification of structural properties, however higher doses lead to the degradation of the investigated polymeric samples.  相似文献

The object of this work is to develop a simple and selective method for efficient extraction of Au(III) ions in aqueous solution using a new solid-phase extraction sorbent. Polyethylenimine (PEI) ion-exchange polymer was coated on alumina in the presence of NaNO3. The method is based on sorption of Au3+ ions on 50 mg PEI/Al2O3. A solution of 0.5 M thiourea, then 1.0 M HCl effectively eluted the gold ion and then aspirated into flame atomic absorption spectroscopy (FAAS). The influence of flow rate of sample solution and eluent, the pH effect, eluent type and sorption capacity was investigated. The effects of various diverse ions for preconcentration and separation of the gold ion were investigated. Relative standard deviation of 4.0 μg mL−1 of gold was 1.46% (n = 10). The detection limit was 26.2 ng L−1 in original solution. The method has been applied successfully for the recovery of trace amount of Au(III) ions from water samples.  相似文献

The swift heavy irradiation induced changes taking place in ethylene–chlorotrifluoroethylene (E–CTFE) copolymer films were investigated in correlation with the applied doses. Samples were irradiated in vacuum at room temperature by lithium (50 MeV), carbon (85 MeV), nickel (120 MeV) and silver (120 MeV) ions with the fluence in the range of 1×1011–3×1012 ions cm?2. Structural and thermal properties of the irradiated as well as pristine E–CTFE films were studied using FTIR, UV–visible, TGA, DSC and XRD techniques. Swift heavy ion irradiation was found to induce changes in E–CTFE depending upon the applied doses.  相似文献

We report a study on the carbon ion beam induced modifications on optical, structural and chemical properties of polyallyl diglycol carbonate (PADC) commercially named as CR-39 and Polyethyleneterepthalate (PET) polymer films. These films were then irradiated by 55 MeV C5+ ion beam at various fluences ranging from 1×1011 to 1×1013 ions/cm2. The pristine as well as irradiated samples were subjected to UV–Visible spectral study (UV–Vis), Photoluminescence (PL), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. It has been found that ion irradiation may induce a sort of defects in the polymers due to chain scission and cross linking as observed from PL spectral study. It is revealed from UV–Vis spectra absorption edge shifted towards longer wavelength region after irradiation with increasing ion fluence. This shift clearly reflects decrease in optical band gap. The XRD study indicates the gradual decrease in intensity in case of PADC with increasing ion fluence. However, the intensity pattern increased in case of PET at fluence of 1011 ion/cm2 then decreased with further increase in fluence. Crystalline size of PADC was found to be decreasing gradually with increase of ion fluence. Whereas, the crystalline size of PET films found to increase with lower fluence and decreases with higher ion fluence. FTIR spectrum also shows the change in intensity of the typical bands after irradiation in the both the polymers. The results so obtained can be used successfully in heavy ions dosimetry using well reported techniques.  相似文献

In this study, the simple and effective surface modification of polymers through ion irradiation is described to improve metal-to-polymer adhesion. The surface of polymer films was irradiated with 150 keV Xe+ ions at various fluences, and copper (Cu) was then deposited onto the surface-modified polymer films. The surface properties of the modified films were investigated in terms of their wettability, chemical composition, and surface morphology. The metal-to-polymer adhesion strength was estimated using a nano-indenter. As a result, the surface environment of the polymer films was physiochemically changed by ion irradiation, which could have a significant effect on the metal-to-polymer adhesion. The irradiated polymer films exhibited a higher adhesion strength than the control film, and the strength depended on the fluence. The maximum adhesion strength (8.45 mN) of the Cu deposited on the irradiated PEN films was obtained at a fluence of 5×1014 ions/cm2.  相似文献

Optical absorption and EPR studies of the mineral tenorite, a cupric oxide which originated from Mexico and contains 54.40 wt% of CuO. EPR spectral results indicate two Cu(II) closely interacting ions to give a d2 type structure. The calculated spin Hamiltonian at room temperature and liquid nitrogen temperature is g = 2.160 and D = 125 G. The intensity of resonance line is not the same in low and high field regions. The optical absorption spectrum is due to Cu(II) in which three sets of energies indicating Cu(II) in two independent tetragonal C4v symmetry, in addition to d2 structure of octahedral coordination. The octahedral and tetragonal field parameters are compared with those reported for several other copper containing minerals.  相似文献

The glasses of the composition (40 ? x)PbO–(5 + x)Al2O3–54SiO2:1.0Yb2O3 (in mol%) with x ranging from 5 to 10 have been synthesized. The IR spectral studies of these glasses have indicated that there is a gradual transformation of Al3+ ions from tetrahedral to octahedral coordination with increase of Al2O3 content in the glass network. The optical absorption and luminescence spectra have exhibited bands originating from 2F7/2  2F5/2 and 2F5/2  2F7/2 transitions, respectively. From these spectra, the absorption and emission cross-sections and fluorescence lifetime of Yb3+ ions have been evaluated. Quantitative analysis of these data indicated a decreasing radiative trapping and increasing fluorescence lifetime of Yb3+ ions with increasing Al2O3 content. This may be explained by structural variations in the vicinity of Yb3+ ions due to variation in the concentration of Al2O3 in the glass network.  相似文献

Precursor glass of composition 25K2O–25Nb2O5–50SiO2 (mol%) doped with Er2O3 (0.5 wt% in excess) was isothermally crystallized at 800 °C for 0–100 h to obtain transparent KNbO3 nanostructured glass–ceramics. XRD, FESEM, TEM, FTIRRS, dielectric constant, refractive index, absorption and fluorescence measurements were carried out to analyze the morphology, dielectric, structure and optical properties of the glass–ceramics. The crystallite size of KNbO3 estimated from XRD and TEM is found to vary in the range 7–23 nm. A steep rise in the dielectric constant of glass–ceramics with heat-treatment time reveals the formation of ferroelectric nanocrystalline KNbO3 phase. The measured visible photoluminescence spectra have exhibited green emission transitions of 2H11/2, 4S3/2  4I15/2 upon excitation at 377 nm (4I15/2  4G11/2) absorption band of Er3+ ions. The near infrared (NIR) emission transition 4I13/2  4I15/2 is detected around 1550 nm on excitation at 980 nm (4I15/2  4I11/2) of absorption bands of Er3+ ions. It is observed that photoluminescent intensity at 526 nm (2H11/2  4I15/2), 550 nm (4S3/2  4I15/2) and 1550 nm (4I13/2  4I15/2) initially decrease and then gradually increase with increase in heat-treatment time. The measured lifetime (τf) of the 4I13/2  4I15/2 transition also possesses a similar trend. The measured absorption and fluorescence spectra reveal that the Er3+ ions gradually enter into the KNbO3 nanocrystals.  相似文献

A method for preconcentration of palladium at trace level on modified multiwalled carbon nanotubes columns and determination by flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS) has been developed. Multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were oxidized with concentrated HNO3 and the oxidized multiwalled carbon nanotubes were modified with 5-(4′-dimethylamino benzyliden)-rhodanine, and then were used as a solid sorbent for preconcentration of Pd(II) ions. Factors influencing sorption and desorption of Pd(II) ions were investigated. The sorption of Pd(II) ions was quantitative in the pH range of 1.0–4.5, whereas quantitative desorption occurs with 3.0 mL 0.4 mol L?1 thiourea. The amount of eluted palladium was measured using flame atomic absorption spectrometry. The effects of experimental parameters, including sample flow rate, eluent flow rate, and eluent concentration were investigated. The effect of coexisting ions showed no interference from most ions tested. The proposed method permitted a large enrichment factor (about 200). The relative standard deviation of the method was ±2.73% (for eight replicate determination of 2.0 μg mL?1 of Pd(II)) and the limit of detection was 0.3 ng mL?1. The method was applied to the determination of Pd(II) in water, road dust, and standard samples.  相似文献

Transparent glasses, melt quenching derived, containing 10RO·20Bi2O3·(70 ? x)B2O3·xTiO2 [R = Ca, Sr] with x = 0, 0.5, 1.0 wt% were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction. Physical and spectroscopic properties viz., density, absorption, emission, electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and FTIR were investigated. The absorption band around 823 nm in pure glass samples is attributed to the electronic transition of 3P0 to 3P2 of Bi+ radicals. A small absorption hump centered around 609 nm is found in all doped glasses due to 2T2g to 2Eg transition of octahedral Ti3+ ions. The emission results revealed that all the samples exhibit a broad emission band covering entire visible-light range, with λex = 360 nm, centered 470–520 nm corresponds to electronic transition of 3P1 to 1S0 of Bi3+ ions, therefore the present materials can be potentially used as tunable or full-color display systems. And a strong emission around 706 nm with λex = 514 nm due to transition of 2P3/2 to 2P1/2 of Bi2+ ions. In SrO mixed glasses Ti4+ ions effect the environment of Bi3+ ion symmetry units from C2 to C3i. A small EPR signal (at room temperature) is observed in titanium doped glasses due to Ti3+ ions. In both the series with increase of TiO2 concentration BO4 units are gradually converted into BO3 units and new cross linkages are formed, like B–O–Ti, Bi–O–Ti at the expense of B–O–B bonds.  相似文献

Cavity ring-down spectroscopy is used to probe the optical absorption of the optical pseudo-two level system [Xe]4f13 Yb3+ in room temperature solution, a situation where the two-color pump-probe luminescence approach commonly used to study the other [Xe]4fn (2  n  12) trivalent lanthanide ions fails. A 1 m optical cavity constructed from two highly reflective mirrors is used to obtain ring-down signals as a function of wavelength from 1 mL samples contained in a quartz cuvette placed in the center of the cavity. Absorption spectra constructed from these signals characteristic of the 6H15/2  4F9/2 [Xe]4f5 Dy3+ and the 7F0  5D0 [Xe]4f6 Eu3+ transitions are presented and compared to the corresponding single pass absorption and two-color pump-probe luminescence spectra to obtain sensitivity estimates. Finally the spectrum for the 2F5/2  2F7/2 [Xe]4f13 Yb3+ transition for a model Yb3+ complex in room temperature solution is obtained using cavity ring-down spectroscopy for the first time.  相似文献

Li2O–MoO3–B2O3 glasses mixed with different concentrations of CuO (ranging from 0 to 1.2 mol%) were prepared. The samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and differential scanning calorimetry. Optical absorption, luminescence, ESR, IR and dielectric properties (viz., dielectric constant ?′, loss tan δ and a.c. conductivity σac, over a wide range of frequency and temperature) of these glass materials have been investigated. The results of differential scanning calorimetric studies suggest that the glass forming ability is higher for the glasses containing CuO beyond 0.6 mol%. The analysis of results of the dielectric properties has revealed that the glasses possess high insulating strength when the concentration of CuO is >0.6 mol%. The variation of a.c. conductivity with the concentration of CuO passes through a maximum at 0.6 mol%. In the high-temperature region, the a.c. conduction seems to be connected with the mixed conduction viz., electronic conduction and ionic conduction. The optical absorption spectra of these glasses exhibited bands due to Cu+ ions in the UV region in addition to the conventional band due to Cu2+ ions in the visible region. The ESR spectral studies have indicated that there is a gradual adoption of Cu2+ ions from ionic environment to covalent environment as the concentration of CuO increases beyond 0.6 mol% in the glass matrix. The luminescence spectra excited at 271 nm have exhibited an intense yellow emission band centered at about 550 nm and a relatively broad blue emission band at about 450 nm; these bands have been attributed to the 3D1  1S0 transition of isolated Cu+ ions and 3D1  1S0 transition of (Cu+)2 pairs, respectively. The quantitative analysis of the results of all these studies has indicated that as the concentration of CuO is increased beyond 0.6 mol% in the glass matrix, a part of Cu2+ ions have been reduced to Cu+ ions that have influenced the physical properties of these glasses to a substantial extent.  相似文献

An electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) study of FeNbO4 powder samples in monoclinic phase (wolframite-type) at X-band (8.8–9.8 GHz), in the 90–300 K temperature range, is presented. For all the temperatures, the EPR spectrum shows a single line associated with Fe3+ ions. Changes in the lineshape of the EPR spectrum, which can be attributed to Fe2+ ions, are detected at low temperatures. This behavior can be ascribed to a strong magnetic dipolar interaction between Fe2+ and Fe3+ ions. The non-resonant microwave absorption techniques: magnetically-modulated microwave absorption spectroscopy (MAMMAS) and low-field microwave absorption spectroscopy (LFMAS), were used for a further knowledge on this material. MAMMAS response suggests also the presence of Fe2+ ions, that originates a change in microwave absorption regime for T < Tp (=140 K), associated with the presence of short-range magnetic correlations. LFMAS spectra showed a linear behavior with positive slope and non-hysteretic traces. The profiles obtained by plotting the slope vs. temperature of the LFMAS line are similar to those detected by the MAMMAS technique, confirming that both types of measurement show the same processes of absorption.  相似文献

Gum kondagogu (Cochlospermum gossypium), a naturally occurring tree biopolymer, is exploited as a biosorbent to remove metal ions from aqueous solutions. The removal efficiency of toxic metals by gum kondagogu was determined quantitatively in the order Cd2+ > Cu2+ > Fe2+ > Se2+ > Pb2+ > total Cr > Ni2+ > Zn2+ > Co2+ > As2+ at pH 5.0 ± 0.1 and temperature 25 ± 2 °C by inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). The biosorption (%) of various metal ions tested was found to be in the range of 97.3–16.7%, at pH 5.0. The morphological and mechanisms of interaction of toxic metal ions with gum kondagogu were assessed by scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy dispersive X-ray analysis (SEM-EDXA) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) spectrum. The analysis indicated that biosorption process included morphological changes, precipitation, complexation and ion exchange mechanism for the removal of metal ions by the gum. XRD analysis indicated the amorphous nature of gum kondagogu, which facilitate metal biosorption. The metal ions adsorption leads to its deposition on the gum kondagogu matrix in a crystalline state.  相似文献

The present investigation reports the effect of influence of aluminum ions on radiation damage of strontium borosilicate glasses studied by means of spectroscopic (viz., optical absorption (OA), infrared and Raman spectra). The composition of the glasses chosen for the study is 40SrO–xAl2O3–(15-x) B2O3–40SiO2 (x = 5, 7.5, 10), all in mol%. The glasses were synthesized by conventional melt quenching method. Later, the samples were exposed to gamma (γ) radiation dose of strengths 10 kGy and 30 kGy with a dose rate of 1.5 Gy/s using 60Co as radiation source. The infrared spectra (IR), Raman spectra and optical absorption (OA) spectra of the samples were recorded at ambient temperature before and after irradiation. The OA spectra of the pre-irradiated samples do not exhibit any absorption bands in the UV–vis regions and IR and Raman spectra exhibited conventional vibrational bands due to different borate, silicate AlO4 and AlO6 structural units. The OA spectra of post irradiated samples exhibited a broad absorption band in the wavelength region 600–750 nm; it is attributed to electron trapped color centers. The intensity of this peak is observed to increase with increase of the γ-ray dose. Considerable changes in the intensities of various bands in the IR and Raman spectra were also observed. The changes were explained based on structural modifications taking place in the glass network due to γ-ray irradiation and finally it is concluded that the glasses mixed with 10.0 mol% of Al2O3 are relatively more radiation resistant.  相似文献
