A simple Raman probe was realized using a single flexible hollow waveguide (HW). A HW coated with a silver film, which had reasonable transmission and little optical background noise, was used as a bidirectional transmission fiber for both the excitation and collection of Raman scattered light. The HW itself generated no Raman scattering or fluorescence noise during transmission. A complex filtering system at the end of the waveguide was thus unnecessary. In addition, the measured Raman spectra showed better signal-to-noise ratios than a conventional Raman fiber probe. The HW's suitability as a Raman fiber probe was also demonstrated. 相似文献

The coherent interaction between ensembles of helium Rydberg atoms and microwave fields in the vicinity of a solid-state coplanar waveguide is reported. Rydberg-Rydberg transitions, at frequencies between 25 and 38 GHz, have been studied for states with principal quantum numbers in the range 30-35 by selective electric-field ionization. An experimental apparatus cooled to 100 K was used to reduce effects of blackbody radiation. Inhomogeneous, stray electric fields emanating from the surface of the waveguide have been characterized in frequency- and time-resolved measurements and coherence times of the Rydberg atoms on the order of 250 ns have been determined. These results represent a key element in the development of an experimental architecture to interface Rydberg atoms with solid-state devices. 相似文献

Structures containing periodically alternating elements, which are a source of high-order waves, are investigated as low-dimensional waveguide microwave photonic crystals. The band character of the transmittance and the reflectance of a photonic crystal, which consists of sequentially alternating dielectric layers and thin metallic plates partially overlapping the waveguide section, is revealed by the numerical modeling and the experimental investigation of amplitude-frequency characteristics. It has been shown that the application of metallic plates with gaps in the structure of the photonic crystal made it possible to decrease its longitudinal size substantially compared with photonic crystals fabricated based on elements made of alternating dielectric layers with various permittivities. 相似文献

以微波传输线等效二端口网络模型等效电路理论近似分析了含有横向电感膜片矩形波导的结构。计算发现,矩形波导内置一对膜片时膜片的宽度会影响散射参数的相位和振幅,而膜片放置的位置对散射参数的幅值及带宽没有影响。根据微波无反射传输的条件,研究了微波矩形波导内置两组横向电感膜片结构的转移矩阵。采用Matlab编程计算,得到在插入衰减最小时两组膜片在波导中的最佳间距。等效电路理论计算结果与用CST软件仿真的结果相符。研究发现,在膜片间距取最佳值时,两种方法得到的相对带宽差值仅为0.59%。 相似文献

Summary Measurements on sea surface films were conducted during five separate experimental periods in the following marine areas:
the Sicilian Channel, the Gulf of Maine (spring and fall periods), Bermuda, and the Pacific Ocean West of Southern California.
The measurements consisted in surface elevation sampling using an interferential microwave probe with frequency spectra evaluation.
Wave spectra were performed for both clean and film-covered sea surface conditions to determine the wave attenuation ratio
within the 2–20 Hz spectral range. The method is able to detect, chart and characterize sea surface films. Theoretical analyses
of the results yield several viscoelastic film parameters: the modulus of elasticity, the relaxation frequency and the maximum
of the damping ratio as a function of wave frequency. The analysed data are interpreted to infer film weathering effects,
surface concentration of film-forming constituents, and compactness of the organic sea surface film. 相似文献

An axial relativistic electron beam passing through a slow wave structure is unstable to an electromagnetic perturbation whose phase velocity equals the velocity of the beam. This phenomenon of Cherenkov emission is the basis of all traveling wave tubes. In this paper an excitation of Cherenkov radiation by a thin annular relativistic electron beam in a plasma-filled dielectric-lined waveguide is analysed by use of the self-consistent linear theory. The effect of the thin annular electron beam on the beam-wave interaction is completely described by a jump condition. The dispersion equation and the simultaneous condition of the beam-wave interaction are derived. Finally, the growth rate of the wave is obtained, and the effect of the background plasma density and the electron beam radius on the growth rate of the wave are presented.This work is supported by National Natural Science Foundation of China. 相似文献

Numerical studies on wakefield excited by Gaussian-like microwave pulse in a plasma filled waveguide

Based on a differential equation derived analytically in terms of wakefield potential ?MW in a plasma filled rectangular waveguide, we investigate the wakefield (EMW) generated with the help of Gaussian-like microwave pulse under the effect of microwave frequency (f), pulse duration (τ), waveguide width (b), equilibrium plasma density (n0) and microwave intensity (I). The study conducted for three cases of τ > 1/fp, τ = 1/fp and τ < 1/fp, where fp is the plasma frequency, reveals that the amplitude of the wakefield is increased for the large pulse duration and higher microwave intensity but is decreased with the waveguide width and microwave frequency for all these cases. The wakefield shows stronger dependence on the microwave frequency when the microwave with larger intensity is used. The wakefield decreases at a faster rate with the waveguide width for the case of τ > 1/fp. 相似文献

The electron acceleration inside the plasma-filled rectangular waveguide is numerically investigated for the externally injected single-electron model considering the effects of density modification under a balance between the ponderomotive force and the pressure gradient force. Using Maxwell’s equations, we evaluate the field components of the fundamental mode in the plasma-filled rectangular waveguide, where the obtained equations are solved numerically using the fourth-order Runge–Kutta method for the electric field amplitude of the microwave. Besides, by solving the relativistic momentum and energy equations using the fourth-order Runge–Kutta method, the deflection angle and the total energy of the electron in the waveguide are obtained. Furthermore, it is shown that the electron energy gain can be controlled using superposing microwave fundamental modes. Effects of various parameters on the results are graphically presented. 相似文献

We introduce a method for optical characterization of hollow-core optical waveguides. Radiation pressure exerted by the waveguide modes on dielectric microspheres is used to analyze salient properties such as propagation loss and waveguide mode profiles. These quantities were measured for quasi-single-mode and multimode propagation in on-chip liquid-filled hollow-core antiresonant reflecting optical waveguides. Excellent agreement with analytical and numerical models is found, demonstrating that optically induced particle transport provides a simple, inexpensive, and nondestructive alternative to other characterization methods. 相似文献

We present a closed-form expression for the the input impedance of a microstrip probe in a rectangular waveguide. The probe extends only part way across the waveguide and is therefore compatible with RF components that require an open circuit at low frequencies. Our analysis is based on the spectral-domain method and is able to take into account the orientation of the antenna with respect to the direction of propagation. We have examined the validity of our model by carrying out extensive impedance measurements at 5GHz. In those cases where the probe did not extend more than half way across the waveguide, excellent agreement was obtained. We show that the bandwidth of a probe that stretches only part way cross the waveguide is very much greater than the bandwidth of a probe that stretches all of the way across the waveguide and that is earthed at both ends. Moreover, the input resistance is lower and more suited to submillimetre-wave detectors such as SIS tunnel junctions. Our expression suggests that it should be possible to develop low-impedance, wideband probes for nearlydouble-height waveguide, and this implies that the upper frequency limit to which probes and waveguides can be manufactured can be extended well into the THz frequency range. A related, and often neglected consideration, is that the ohmic loss associated with an oversized waveguide is very much smaller than the ohmic loss associated with a reduced-height waveguide. 相似文献

Theoretical studies are performed on the interaction between microwave electromagnetic radiation and a photoionized semiconductor plasma in a two-layer waveguide. The interaction between the characteristic wave types of oscillation and a photoexcited semiconductor plasma is investigated. We have experimentally demonstrated a new optical signal processor based on the use of arrayed waveguide gratings. The structure exploits the concept of spectral slicing combined with the use of an optical dispersive medium. A frequency selective polarization rotator that can rotate the polarization angle of an incident electromagnetic wave at the microwave frequency by 45 is presented. The polarization rotator is based on a two-dimensional periodic array of substrate integrated waveguide cavities, realizing the polarization rotation by coupling the input signal to the output wave through three metallic slots. Two layers of frequency selective surfaces are cascaded by substrate and form the polarization rotator. A vertical slot on the top layer is used to select the horizontal polarization from the incident wave, the vertical and the horizontal slots on the bottom layer are, respectively, used to obtain horizontally and vertically polarized outgoing waves. The two orthogonal outgoing waves are combined to result in the 45~ polarized wave. Both full wave simulation and experimental measurement are carried out, together validating the proposed method. 相似文献

Utilizing a microwave setup, we experimentally verify our recently developed theory of energy squeezing and tunneling [Phys. Rev. Lett. 97, 157403 (2006)10.1103/PhysRevLett.97.157403] through an ultranarrow waveguide channel that mimics zero-permittivity properties. Exploiting the infinite phase velocity supported by a waveguide transition section at cutoff, we test our theory of tunneling in this zero-permittivity region without use of resonant inclusions. This "supercoupling" is shown to have unique anomalous properties: an almost uniform phase along the narrow channel and weak dependence over its geometry. 相似文献

基于模式耦合理论,在理论推导出弯曲同轴波导TEM模和同轴TE11模之间耦合系数显式表达的基础上,报道了可传输同轴TE11模的弯曲同轴波导的设计方法和计算结果,并进行了实例研究。数值仿真结果表明:设计的具有同轴结构的弯曲波导,利用不同的同轴空间,在P,L,S波段中心频率0.680,1.575和3.75 GHz处TE11模单模传输效率超过了99.5%,单模传输效率超过90%的工作带宽分别为0.60~0.83,1.10~2.42和3.10~4.16 GHz。该结构的功率容量在各频段均达到了GW量级。 相似文献
