We report laser emission from single, stationary, Rhodamine B-doped glycerol/water microdroplets located on a superhydrophobic surface. In the experiments, a pulsed, frequency-doubled Nd:YAG laser operating at 532 nm was used as the excitation source. The microdroplets ranged in diameter from a few to 20 μm. Lasing was achieved in the red-shifted portion of the dye emission spectrum with threshold fluences as low as 750 J/cm2. Photobleaching was observed when the microdroplets were pumped above threshold. In certain cases, multimode lasing was also observed and attributed to the simultaneous lasing of two modes belonging to different sets of whispering gallery modes.  相似文献

We demonstrate, for the first time to our knowledge, Raman lasing from stationary microdroplets on a superhydrophobic surface. In the experiments, glycerol-water microdroplets with radii in the 11-15 microm range were pumped at 532 nm with a pulsed, frequency-doubled Nd:YAG laser. Two distinct operation regimes of the microdroplets were observed: cavity-enhanced Raman scattering and Raman lasing. In the latter case, the Raman lasing signal was higher than the background by more than 30 dB. Investigation of the Raman spectra of various glycerol-water mixtures indicates that lasing occurs within the glycerol Raman band. Raman lasing was not sustained; rather, oscillation would occur in temporally separated bursts. Increasing the rate of convective cooling by nitrogen purging improved the lasing performance and reduced the average interburst separation from 2.3 to 0.4 s.  相似文献

We investigate the parasitic lasing effect in the high-power actively Q-switched laser with a flat–flat resonator. The parasitic lasing effect in the low-Q stage is found to lead to long tails in the output pulses, corresponding to the peak-power reduction. We experimentally determine the shortest cavity length without the parasitic lasing effect to optimize the performance of the high-power actively Q-switched laser with a flat–flat cavity. We further use the optimized fundamental laser to generate green and UV lasers by extra-cavity harmonic generations. At a pump power of 44 W, the output powers at 355 nm and 532 nm as high as 6.65 W and 8.38 W are obtained at a pulse repetition rate of 40 kHz.  相似文献

The ZnO micronails were synthesized by the vapor phase transport method. The heads of the micronails show hexagonal disk structure which is suitable for the whispering-gallery mode lasing microcavity. Under the excitation of a nanosecond pulse at 355 nm, the single-photon absorption induced lasing was stimulated in the micronail with the head diameter of 3.0 μm, the whispering gallery mode and Fabry-Pérot mode lasing were investigated. Under the excitation of femtosecond laser pulses at 804 nm, the second harmonic generation and the three-photon absorption induced photoluminescence were observed from a bulk of micronails, then an individual micronail with the diameter of 9.1 μm was employed to realize the three-photon absorption induced whispering-gallery mode lasing.  相似文献

Comprehensive analysis of GaInNAs edge-emitting laser operating near 1300 nm wavelength are made to underline the behavioural features of the proposed laser device, in view of the analytical investigation for various material and device electrical-optical parameters analysis such as band diagram, material gain, quantum well emission wavelength, optical wave and mode profiles, light-current-voltage characteristic, output mode spectrum, current distribution and far-field profile. The material analysis indicates that a high quality GaInNAs active region is designed, where high material gain and photoluminescence wavelength near 1.3 μm are achieved. The device obtains low threshold current operation with lasing emission around 1.285 μm.  相似文献

Erbium-ytterbium co-doped fiber amplifier with wavelength-tuned Yb-band loop resonator is presented. The amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) from Yb ions is utilized to stimulate a laser emission at several wavelengths from the 1 μm band in the 1550 nm amplifier. The wavelength of this lasing is tuned by introducing a fiber Bragg grating (FBG). The results show, that the overall efficiency of the amplifier at nominal 1550 nm wavelength can be increased by introducing a feedback loop with 1040 nm and 1050 nm FBG. This loop also protects the Er/Yb amplifier from parasitic lasing at 1 μm and allows significant output power scaling without risk of self-pulsing.  相似文献

An LD end-pumped Nd:YAG/SrWO4 continuous-wave 560 nm laser is presented based on intracavity sum-frequency mixing of the fundamental and first-Strokes light. The maximum output power of 330 mW at 559.6 nm was obtained for the diode pump power of 13.7 W and the conversion efficiency was about 2.5%. The intense blue emission was also observed in the SrWO4 crystal when the Raman laser was operating above threshold. This blue emission is centered at 473 nm, which also happened to YVO4.  相似文献

We investigated the emission wavelength dependence of the lasing polarization in a (1 1 0)-oriented vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) with GaAs/AlGaAs quantum wells under optical spin injection at room temperature. Lasing was observed in the one circularly polarized mode over a wide wavelength range from 838 to 857 nm, in which a degree of circular polarization higher than 0.8 was maintained. The optical gain spectrum that contributed to the circularly polarized lasing is discussed based on the optical selection rules and the measured polarization-resolved photoluminescence spectra of the active layers.  相似文献

We have established a principal possibility of changes of the light reflectivity at the wavelength of 633 nm (He–Ne laser) under influence of the external laser light. The changes are very sensitive to the wavelength of the photoinduced laser. We have chosen two types of the photoinduced lasers: UV nitrogen 7 ns laser at wavelength 371 nm heating near the absorption edge and the 10 ns 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser with wavelength 1064 nm. The power dependences of the reflectivity were studied. Possible explanation of the observed effects is presented following the conception of the nano-trapping levels. These results have been obtained from two ZnO thin films prepared from principally different deposition parameters leading to different particle features and morphologies.  相似文献

A LuAG shaped rod crystal, doped with Yb3+, has been grown by μ-PD technique. The crystal diameter was about 3 mm and the length around 130 mm. A complete spectroscopic investigation in the temperature range 10–300 K is reported and data has been utilized to model the laser behavior. In the laser experiment the Yb:LuAG sample was placed in an X cavity and pumped longitudinally obtaining an efficient CW laser emission. The Yb:LuAG laser yielded a maximum output power of 23 mW with a slope efficiency of 32% and a threshold around 35 mW, at lasing wavelength of 1030 nm. No significant depolarization effects were observed, indicating a crystal growth with negligible stress. The output beam profile was investigated, yielding M2  1.0 in both directions, further confirming the good optical quality of the sample.  相似文献

A diode end-pumped passively Q-switched Nd:YAG/KTA intracavity Raman laser is presented. A KTA crystal with a size of 5 mm × 5 mm × 25 mm is used as the Raman active medium and its 234 cm?1 Raman mode is employed to finish the conversion from 1064 nm fundamental laser to 1091 nm Raman laser. A 2 mm thick Cr4+:YAG crystal is used as the saturable absorber. With an LD pump power of 7.5 W, the first-Stokes power of 250 mW is obtained with a pulse repetition frequency of 14.5 kHz. The corresponding diode-to-Stokes conversion efficiency is 3.3% and the pulse energy is 17.2 μJ. Pulse width is measured to be 12.6 ns and peak power is 1.4 kW.  相似文献

Thin film beam splitters with high reflectivity at 532 nm and high transmittance at 1064 nm were deposited via reactive electron-beam evaporation with optimized parameters. The damage performance of the samples was investigated under irradiations of 532 nm laser only, 1064 nm laser only, and various combined laser fluences. The damages induced by the 1064 nm laser were primarily attributed to the initiators at the interface between the coatings and substrate. Under 532 nm laser irradiation only, two distinctive damage pits initiated by the submicron absorptive defects located at different coating depths and correlated to interfaces were observed. The damage effect under simultaneous irradiation in multilayer films was also investigated. The respective sensitive defects of the two lasers remained the precursors for causing damage. However, the dominant damage factors in simultaneous irradiation changed with the 1064 nm laser fluence, which also determined the coupling effect between the two lasers in terms of causing damage. Finally, correlative analysis methods were used to discuss the different coupling effects.  相似文献

The direct imaging of photonic nanojets in different dielectric microdisks illuminated by a laser source is reported. The SiO2 and Si3N4 microdisks are of height 650 nm with diameters ranging from 3 μm to 8 μm. The finite-difference time-domain calculation is used to execute the numerical simulation for the photonic nanojets in the dielectric microdisks. The photonic nanojet measurements are performed with a scanning optical microscope system. The photonic nanojets with high intensity spots and low divergence are observed in the dielectric microdisks illuminated from the side with laser source of wavelengths 405 nm, 532 nm and 671 nm. The experimental results of key parameters are compared to the simulations and in agreement with theoretical results. Our studies show that photonic nanojets can be efficiently created by a dielectric microdisk and straightforwardly applied to nano-photonics circuit.  相似文献

A simple, continuously tunable dual-wavelength erbium-doped fiber ring laser (TDEDFL) structure for applications in high-speed communication systems is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. The dual-wavelength tuning range is 58 nm covering both the C-band and L-band from 1547 to 1605 nm. We can not only obtain a 45% improvement over previously reported tuning ranges, but also tune the wavelength of each lasing output independently. The power equalization of the dual-wavelength outputs is less than 1.5 dB. We obtain extremely stable power variation and wavelength fluctuation at room temperature. Using this fiber laser, a 10-Gb/s data transmission over a 25-km single-mode fiber (SMF) can be made available with a power penalty of 0.5 dB is demonstrated with this laser.  相似文献

We present a high-power 1.53 μm laser based on intracavity KTA-OPO driven by diode-end-pumped acousto-optical Q-switched YVO4/Nd:YVO4 composite. The composite crystal was utilized for reducing the thermal effect, and the mode mismatch compensating OPO cavity was designed for efficient OPO conversion. The output power of eye-safe laser at 1535 nm was up to 4.4 W with the pump power of 27 W, corresponding to a diode-to-signal conversion efficiency of 16.3%. To our knowledge, this is the highest output power in diode-end-pumped circumstances. In the experiment, the strong yellow light generated by Raman conversion and frequency doubling in the KTA crystal was observed.  相似文献

A wide-band supercontinuum source generated by mode-locked pulses injected into a Highly Non-Linear Fiber (HNLF) is proposed and demonstrated. A 49 cm long Bismuth–Erbium Doped Fiber (Bi–EDF) pumped by two 1480 nm laser diodes acts as the active gain medium for a ring fiber laser, from which mode-locked pulses are obtained using the Non-Polarization Rotation (NPR) technique. The mode-locked pulses are then injected into a 100 m long HLNF with a dispersion of 0.15 ps/nm km at 1550 nm to generate a supercontinuum spectrum spanning from 1340 nm to more than 1680 nm with a pulse width of 0.08 ps and an average power of ?17 dBm. The supercontinuum spectrum is sliced using a 24 channel Arrayed Waveguide Grating (AWG) with a channel spacing of 100 GHz to obtain a fanned-out laser output covering the O-, E-, S-, C-, L- and U-bands. The lasing wavelengths obtained have an average pulse width of 9 ps with only minor fluctuations and a mode-locked repetition rate of 40 MHz, and is sufficiently stable to be used in a variety of sensing and communication applications, most notably as cost-effective sources for Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) networks.  相似文献

Using high-intensity (560–650 GW/cm2) 264 nm 220 femtosecond laser pulses, we inscribed a periodic (comb) transmission filter in a photosensitive Ge/B-codoped fibre, based on a pair of long-period gratings of different strength/wavelength position. The irradiation conditions and grating parameters for the successful realization of the 24–28-nm-wide transmission filter in the region 1480–1580 nm with the fringe period of 1.7–3.1 nm and the fringe bandwidth of 0.8–1.3 nm were established.  相似文献

Gold nanoparticles (Au-NPs) suspended in water where the suspension is a kind of nanofluid, were produced by pulsed laser ablation in liquids. Under the laser irradiation conditions up to 18 h, the average size of the Au-NPs ranged from 7.1 to 12.1 nm while their size-distribution tended to become narrower with effects of laser-induced fragmentation. Interestingly, the nanofluid showed an outstanding colloidal stability even after 1 month although no dispersants were used. The characteristic stability of bare Au-NPs suspension in water was found to be due to a large negative zeta potential of Au-NPs in water. The thermal conductivity of the Au-NPs (0.018 vol%)/water suspension increased by 9.3±5.4% compared to that of pure water.  相似文献

In recent years multi-spectral device is steadily growing popularity. Multi-spectral antireflection coating effective in visible region for sighting system, laser wavelength for ranging and MWIR region for thermal system can use common objective/receiver optics highly useful for state of art thermal instrumentation. In this paper, design and fabrication of antireflection coating simultaneously effective in visible region (450–650 nm), Eye safe laser wave length (1540 nm) and MWIR region (3.6–4.9 μm) has been reported. Comprehensive search method of design was used and the number of layers in the design was optimised with lowest evaluated merit function studied with respect to various layers. Finally eight-layer design stack was established using hafnium oxide as high index layer and silicon-di-oxide as low index coating material combination. The multilayer stack had been fabricated by using electron beam gun evaporation system in Symphony 9 vacuum coating unit. During layer deposition the substrate was irradiated with End-Hall ion gun. The evaporation was carried out in presence of oxygen and layer thicknesses were measured with crystal monitor. The result achieved for the antireflection coating was 85% average transmission from 450 to 650 nm in visible region, 95% transmission at 1540 nm and 96% average transmission from 3.6 to 4.9 μm in MWIR region.  相似文献

A flame-like superhydrophobic yttrium aluminum garnet surface was obtained by a simple approach under ambient conditions. The influences of the concentration of curing agent and paraffin wax in course of the experiment were investigated. The as-prepared film shows superhydrophobicity which has a water contact angle of 158 ± 1.0°, and sliding angle of 4 ± 1.0°. Moreover, the water contact angle of the rough surface remained higher than 150°, after exposure for 10 days. Transmission electronic microscope, scanning electronic microscope, fluorescence spectrometer and atomic force microscope were also used to characterize the samples.  相似文献
