Let (M,g) be an n-dimensional Riemannian manifold and T2M be its secondorder tangent bundle equipped with a lift metric (g).In this paper,first,the authors construct some Riemannian almost product structures on (T2M,(g)) and present some results concerning these structures.Then,they investigate the curvature properties of (T2M,(g)).Finally,they study the properties of two metric connections with nonvanishing torsion on (T2 M,(g)):The H-lift of the Levi-Civita connection of g to T2 M,and the product conjugate connection defined by the Levi-Civita connection of (g) and an almost product structure.  相似文献

On a complete Riemannian manifold M with Ricci curvature satisfying $$\mathrm{Ric}(\nabla r,\nabla r) \geq -Ar^2(\log r)^2(\log(\log r))^2\cdots (\log^{k}r)^2$$ for r?1, where A>0 is a constant, and r is the distance from an arbitrarily fixed point in M, we prove some Liouville-type theorems for a C 2 function f:M→? satisfying ΔfF(f) for a function F:?→?. As an application, we obtain a C 0 estimate of a spinor satisfying the Seiberg–Witten equations on such a manifold of dimension 4. We also give applications to the conformal transformation of the scalar curvature and isometric immersions of such a manifold.  相似文献

For every product preserving bundle functor T μ on fibered manifolds, we describe the underlying functor of any order (r, s, q), srq. We define the bundle Kk,lr,s,q YK_{k,l}^{r,s,q} Y of (k, l)-dimensional contact elements of the order (r, s, q) on a fibered manifold Y and we characterize its elements geometrically. Then we study the bundle of general contact elements of type μ. We also determine all natural transformations of Kk,lr,s,q YK_{k,l}^{r,s,q} Y into itself and of T( Kk,lr,s,q Y )T\left( {K_{k,l}^{r,s,q} Y} \right) into itself and we find all natural operators lifting projectable vector fields and horizontal one-forms from Y to Kk,lr,s,q YK_{k,l}^{r,s,q} Y .  相似文献

The bifurcation of a solution of the equation f(x, λ) = 0 at the point (x0, λ0) is investigated. In the case that B: = –fx(x0, λ0) is a FREDHOLM operator by the method of LJAPUNOV/SCHMIDT the original equation is equivalent to a system consisting of a locally uniquely solvable equation and an equation in a finit dimensional subspace, the so-called bifurcation equation. For analytical/recursion formulas are deduced to determine the locally unique solution. In the case of FREDHOLM operators B with index zero practicable criteria are given for the applicability of a theorem of IZE being a generalization of a well known theorem of KRASNOSELSKIJ.  相似文献

We give simple formulas for the canonical metric, gradient, Lie derivative, Riemannian connection, parallel translation, geodesics and distance on the Grassmann manifold of p-planes in R n . In these formulas, p-planes are represented as the column space of n×p matrices. The Newton method on abstract Riemannian manifolds proposed by Smith is made explicit on the Grassmann manifold. Two applications – computing an invariant subspace of a matrix and the mean of subspaces – are worked out.  相似文献

In this paper we show that the Fibered Isomorphism Conjecture of Farrell and Jones, corresponding to the stable topological pseudoisotopy functor, is true for the fundamental groups of a class of complex manifolds. A consequence of this result is that the Whitehead group, reduced projective class groups and the negative K-groups of the fundamental groups of these manifolds vanish whenever the fundamental group is torsion free. We also prove the same results for a class of real manifolds including a large class of 3-manifolds which has a finite sheeted cover fibering over the circle.  相似文献

The main results of this paper are as follows. (a) Let : M N be a non-trivial Riemannian submersion with totally geodesic fibers of dimension 1 over an Einstein manifold N. If M is compact and admits a standard Einstein--Weyl structure with constant Einstein--Weyl function, then N admits a Kähler structure andM a Sasakian structure. In this paper, we use the theory of critical points of distance functions to study the rigidity and topology of Riemannian manifolds with sectional curvature bounded below. We prove that an n-dimensional complete connected Riemannian manifold M with sectional curvature K M 1 is isometric to an n-dimensional Euclidean unit sphere if M has conjugate radius bigger than /2 and contains a geodesic loop of length 2. We also prove that if M is an n(3)-dimensional complete connected Riemannian manifold with K M 1 and radius bigger than /2, then any closed connected totally geodesic submanifold of dimension not less than two of M is homeomorphic to a sphere.  相似文献

A manifold with fibered cusp metrics X can be considered as a geometrical generalization of locally symmetric spaces of \mathbbQ{\mathbb{Q}}-rank one at infinity. We prove a Hodge-type theorem for this class of Riemannian manifolds, i.e. we find harmonic representatives of the de Rham cohomology H p (X). Similar to the situation of locally symmetric spaces, these representatives are computed by special values or residues of generalized eigenforms of the Hodge–Laplace operator on Ω p (X).  相似文献

The subgradient method is generalized to the context of Riemannian manifolds. The motivation can be seen in non-Euclidean metrics that occur in interior-point methods. In that frame, the natural curves for local steps are the geodesies relative to the specific Riemannian manifold. In this paper, the influence of the sectional curvature of the manifold on the convergence of the method is discussed, as well as the proof of convergence if the sectional curvature is nonnegative.  相似文献
