We have discovered room temperature photoluminescence in Sm3+ and Pr3+ dithiocarbamate complexes. Surprisingly, these complexes exhibit more intense emission than those of the Eu3+, Tb3+, and Dy3+ analogues. The electronic absorption, excitation, and emission spectra are reported for the complexes [Ln(S2CNR2)3L] and NH2Et2[Ln(S2CNEt2)4], where Ln = Sm, Pr; R = ethyl, ibutyl, benzyl; and L = 1,10-phenanthroline, 2,2'-bipyridine, and 5-chloro-1,10-phenanthroline. The lowest ligand-localized triplet energy level (T1) of the complexes are determined from the phosphorescence spectra of analogous La3+ and Gd3+ chelates. The luminescence decay curves were measured to determine the excited-state lifetimes for the Pr3+ and Sm3+ complexes. X-ray crystal structures of Sm(S2CNiBu2)3phen, Pr(S2CNEt2)3phen, and Pr(S2CNiBu2)3phen are also reported. 相似文献

To tune the lanthanide luminescence in related molecular structures, we synthesized and characterized a series of lanthanide complexes with imidazole-based ligands: two tripodal ligands, tris{[2-{(1-methylimidazol-2-yl)methylidene}amino]ethyl}amine (Me(3)L), and tris{[2-{(imidazol-4-yl)methylidene}amino]ethyl}amine (H(3)L), and the dipodal ligand bis{[2-{(imidazol-4-yl)methylidene}amino]ethyl}amine (H(2)L). The general formulas are [Ln(Me(3)L)(H(2)O)(2)](NO(3))(3)·3H(2)O (Ln = 3+ lanthanide ion: Sm (1), Eu (2), Gd (3), Tb (4), and Dy (5)), [Ln(H(3)L)(NO(3))](NO(3))(2)·MeOH (Ln(3+) = Sm (6), Eu (7), Gd (8), Tb (9), and Dy (10)), and [Ln(H(2)L)(NO(3))(2)(MeOH)](NO(3))·MeOH (Ln(3+) = Sm (11), Eu (12), Gd (13), Tb (14), and Dy (15)). Each lanthanide ion is 9-coordinate in the complexes with the Me(3)L and H(3)L ligands and 10-coordinate in the complexes with the H(2)L ligand, in which counter anion and solvent molecules are also coordinated. The complexes show a screw arrangement of ligands around the lanthanide ions, and their enantiomorphs form racemate crystals. Luminescence studies have been carried out on the solid and solution-state samples. The triplet energy levels of Me(3)L, H(3)L, and H(2)L are 21?000, 22?700, and 23?000 cm(-1), respectively, which were determined from the phosphorescence spectra of their Gd(3+) complexes. The Me(3)L ligand is an effective sensitizer for Sm(3+) and Eu(3+) ions. Efficient luminescence of Sm(3+), Eu(3+), Tb(3+), and Dy(3+) ions was observed in complexes with the H(3)L and H(2)L ligands. Ligand modification by changing imidazole groups alters their triplet energy, and results in different sensitizing ability towards lanthanide ions. 相似文献

Polycrystalline boratotungstates of composition Ln3BWO9 (Ln = Pr, Nd, Sm, Gd, Tb, Dy) are prepared by solid-phase synthesis and structurally studied. The structures are refined using the Rietveld method for hexagonal space group P63 (Z = 2). The boratotungstate structures are frameworks. The rare-earth cations in the structure are coordinated by an array of nine oxygen atoms (three oxygen atoms from borato groups BO3 and six from WO6 polyhedra). The nature of the optical nonlinearity in the hexagonal boratotungstates Ln3BWO9 is a direct consequence of the acentricity of both the tungstate and the rare-earth polyhedra in the structure. Dimorphism is discovered in polycrystalline La3BWO9. 相似文献

A thermodynamic model of liquid was suggested and Ln-Ba (Ln = Gd, Pr, Nd, and Sm) phase diagrams were calculated on the basis of generalization of literature data on thermodynamic properties and phase equilibria in lanthanide-barium metallic systems. The interaction parameter of Gd1 ? x Ba x regular melt was estimated on the assumption of a proportionality between the particle-particle interaction energies of liquid lanthanide and liquid barium, on the one hand, and the lanthanide radius, on the other. 相似文献

The reaction of triethanolamine (teaH(3)) with [Fe(III)(3)O(O(2)CCH(3))(6)(H(2)O)(3)]Cl·6H(2)O and Ln(NO(3))(3)·6H(2)O in acetonitrile yields [Fe(16)Ln(4)(tea)(8)(teaH)(12)(μ-O(2)CCH(3))(8)](NO(3))(4)·16H(2)O·xMeCN (Ln = Sm (1), Eu (2), Gd (3), Tb (4), Dy (5), Ho (6); x = 10 or 11). These 20-membered metallo-ring complexes are the largest such single-stranded oxygen-bridged rings so far reported. The structure is stabilised by two of the acetate ligands, which form anti,anti-bridges across the centre of the ring, pinching the ring and giving it rigidity. The magnetic properties are dominated by the antiferromagnetic couplings between the Fe(III) centres. Although the Fe(2) and Fe(6) sub-chains within the ring are fully spin-compensated at low temperatures with S(subchain) = 0, coupling between the Gd(III) cations and the Fe(III) centres at the ends of the sub-chains (in 3) results in a pinning of the lanthanide spins. The (57)Fe M?ssbauer spectra of 3 and 5 obtained at low temperatures are consistent with the presence of Fe(III) intracluster strong antiferromagnetic coupling. The applied field spectrum for 3 reveals no magnetic hyperfine interaction apart from that of the nucleus with the applied field, while the one for 5 is a superposition of three subspectra which show contributions from each of the peripheral as well as from the central iron sites. 相似文献

We report the syntheses, crystal structure, and magnetic properties of a series of distorted K2NiF4-type oxides Ln2Ca2MnNiO8 (Ln=Pr, Nd, Sm, and Gd) in which Ln/Ca and Mn/Ni atoms randomly occupy the K and Ni sites respectively. The Ln=La compound does not form. These compounds show systematic distortions from the ideal tetragonal K2NiF4 structure (space group I4/mmm) to an orthorhombic structure (space group Pccn) with buckled MO2 (M=Mn/Ni) layers. The degree of distortion is increased as the size of Ln decreases. Based on the magnetic data and X-ray absorption near edge spectra, we assigned MnIV and NiII. The Curie–Weiss plots of the high temperature magnetic data suggest strong ferromagnetic interactions probably due to MnIV–O–NiII linkages, implying local ordering of Mn/Ni ions to form ferromangnetic clusters in the MO2 layers. At low temperatures below 110–130 K, these compounds show antiferromagnetic behaviors because of MnIV–O–MnIV and/or NiII–O–NiII contacts between the ferromagnetic clusters. The Ln=Pr and Nd compounds show additional antiferromagnetic signals that we attribute to the interlayer interactions between the clusters mediated by the Pr3+ and Nd3+ ions in the interlayer spaces. The present compounds show many parallels with the previously reported Ln2Sr2MnNiO8 compounds. 相似文献

Explorations of new quaternary phases in the Ln(III)-V(V)(d0)-Se(IV)-O (Ln = Nd, Eu, Gd, Tb) systems
Systematic explorations of new phases in the Ln(III)-V(V)-Se(IV)-O systems by hydrothermal syntheses led to four new quaternary compounds, namely, Nd(2)(V(V)(2)O(4))(SeO(3))(4)·H(2)O (1), Ln(V(V)O(2))(SeO(3))(2) (Ln = Eu 2, Gd 3, Tb 4). The structure of Nd(2)(V(V)(2)O(4))(SeO(3))(4)·H(2)O features a 3D framework composed of the 2D layers of [N d(SeO(3))](+) bridged by the infinite [VO(2)(SeO(3))](-) chains with the lattice water molecules located at the 6-membered ring tunnels formed. The structure of Ln(V(V)O(2))(SeO(3))(2) (Ln = Eu, Gd, Tb) also features a 3D framework composed of 2D layers of [Ln(SeO(3))](+) bridged by the infinite [(VO(2))(SeO(3))](-) double chains. The 1D vanadium oxide selenite chain of 1 differs significantly from those in compounds 2-4 in terms of the coordination modes of the selenite groups and the connectivities between neighbouring VO(6) octahedra. Luminescent and magnetic properties of these compounds were also measured. 相似文献

The crystal structures of a broad series of anhydrous Ln(hfac)(3)(monoglyme) complexes, prepared in moderate to high yield, are presented: hfac = 1,1,1,5,5,5-hexafluoroacetylacetonato-; Ln = La, Ce, Pr, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Er, Tm. This study contradicts the general assumption that monoglyme is too small a polyether to act as a partitioning agent displacing coordinated water on the larger lanthanide(III) ions. The structures of an intermediate La(hfac)(3)(monoglyme)(2) species and the hydrated Ce(hfac)(3)(monoglyme)(H(2)O) species are also included. The crystallographic evidence presented herein is supplemented by other characterization techniques (melting point, IR, etc.) and trends are delineated. 相似文献

The isostructural heterometallic complexes [Ln(III)(2)Mn(III)(2)O(2)(ccnm)(6)(dcnm)(2)(H(2)O)(2)] (Ln = Eu (1Eu), Gd (1Gd), Tb (1Tb), Er (1Er); ccnm = carbamoylcyanonitrosomethanide; dcnm = dicyanonitrosomethanide) have been synthesised and structurally characterised. The in situ transition metal promoted nucleophilic addition of water to dcnm, forming the derivative ligand ccnm, plays an essential role in cluster formation. The central [Ln(III)(2)Mn(III)(2)(O)(2)] moiety has a "butterfly" topology. The coordinated aqua ligands and the NH(2) group of the ccnm ligands facilitate the formation of a range of hydrogen bonds with the lattice solvent and neighbouring clusters. Magnetic measurements generally reveal weak intracluster antiferromagnetic coupling, except for the large J(MnMn) value in 1Gd. There is some evidence for single molecule magnetic (SMM) behaviour in 1Er. Comparisons of the magnetic properties are made with other recently reported butterfly-type {Ln(III)(x)M(III)(4-x) (d-block)} clusters, x = 1, 2; M = Mn, Fe. 相似文献

Three new solid lanthanide(III) complexes, [Ln(1-AMUH)3] · (NO3)3 (1-AMUH = 1-amidino-O-methylurea; Ln = Eu(III), Gd(III), or Tb(III)) were synthesised and characterised by elemental analysis, infrared spectra, magnetic moment measurement, and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectra for Gd(III) complex. The formation of lanthanide(III) complexes is confirmed by the spectroscopic studies. The photophysical properties of Gd(III), Eu(III), and Tb(III) complexes in solid state were investigated. The Tb(III) complex exhibits the strongest green emission at 543 nm and the Eu(III) complex shows a red emission at 615 nm while the Gd(III) complex shows a weak emission band at 303 nm. Under excitation with UV light, these complexes exhibited an emission characteristic of central metal ions. The powder EPR spectrum of the Gd(III) complex at 300 K exhibits a single broad band with g = 2.025. The bi-exponential nature of the decay lifetime curve is observed in the Eu(III) and Tb(III) complexes. The results reveal them to have potential as luminescent materials. 相似文献

Laser photoionization and ligand photodissociation in Ln(thd)(3) (Ln = Eu, Tb, Gd; thd = 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-3,5-heptanedionato) are studied in a molecular beam via time-of-flight mass spectrometry. The fragmentation patterns are strongly wavelength dependent. With 355 nm excitation, the mass spectrum is dominated by Ln(2+), Ln(+), and LnO(+) fragments. The bare Ln ions are believed to arise from photoionization of neutral Ln atoms. The Ln atoms, in turn, are produced from the Ln(thd)(3) complex in a sequence of Ln reductions (through ligand-to-metal charge-transfer transitions), with each reduction being accompanied by the dissociation of a neutral ligand radical. In contrast, under visible-light (410-450 nm) excitation, a significant Ln(thd)(n)(+) signal is observed (where n = 2,3 for Ln = Tb,Gd and n = 1-3 for Ln = Eu). Thus, with visible excitation, photoionization of Ln(thd)(n) competes effectively with the Ln-reduction/ligand-dissociation sequence that leads to the dominant bare Ln-ion signal seen with 355 nm excitation. The fact that monoligated Ln(thd)(+) is observed only for Ln = Eu is interpreted in terms of the relative accessibility of an excited ligand-to-metal charge-transfer state from the ground electronic state of neutral Ln(thd). 相似文献

The reaction of Ln(NO(3))(3).aq with K(3)[Fe(CN)(6)] or K(3)[Co(CN)(6)] and 2,2'-bipyridine in water led to five one-dimensional complexes: trans-[M(CN)(4)(mu-CN)(2)Ln(H(2)O)(4) (bpy)](n)().XnH(2)O.1.5nbpy (M = Fe(3+) or Co(3+); Ln = Sm(3+), Gd(3+), or Yb(3+); X = 4 or 5). The structures for [Fe(3)(+)-Sm(3+)] (1), [Fe(3)(+)-Gd(3+)] (2), [Fe(3)(+)-Yb(3+)] (3), [Co(3)(+)-Gd(3+)] (4), and [Co(3)(+)-Yb(3+)] (5) have been solved; they crystallize in the triclinic space P1 and are isomorphous. The [Fe(3+)-Sm(3+)] complex is a ferrimagnet, its magnetic studies suggesting the onset of weak ferromagnetic 3-D ordering at 3.5 K. The [Fe(3+)-Gd(3+)] interaction is weakly antiferromagnetic. The isotropic nature of Gd(3+) allowed us to evaluate the exchange interaction (J = 0.77 cm(-)(1)). 相似文献

Adducts of lanthanide β-diketonates of the general formula LnL3(TPTZ) were synthesized and structurally characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction [Ln = Eu3+, Tb3+, Er3+; L is the conjugate base of dibenzoylmethane (DBM), 1-benzoylacetone (BA), thenoyltrifluoroacetone (TTA), or 4,4,4-trifluoro-1-phenyl-1,3-butanedione (BTFA); TPTZ = 2,4,6-tri(2-pyridyl)-1,3,5-triazine, a rigid Lewis base with a large π system]. The lanthanide ion in each of these complexes is nonacoordinate with six β-diketonate oxygen atoms and three TPTZ nitrogen atoms, forming a coordination polyhedron best describable as a monocapped square antiprism. Characteristic red, green, and near infrared luminescence was observed for the Eu3+, Tb3+, and Er3+ complexes, respectively. All complexes showed significantly enhanced luminescence quantum yields when compared with the corresponding aqua analogues, with one of the Eu3+ complexes displaying a quantum yield of 69.7% in chloroform. 相似文献

Single crystals of lanthanide iodates have been quickly grown by decomposition of the corresponding periodates under hydrothermal conditions. Single crystal X‐ray diffraction showed that two structure types form with the elements from Pr‐Yb, an anhydrous form for Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Ho, Er and a dihydrate for Eu, Gd, Dy, Er, Tm, Yb. A detailed structure study is presented for one representative of each of these types, along with structure type and lattice parameters for the other materials.
