The absorption and gain bands of a weak probe signal in the presence of the Bose-Einstein condensation of excitons, which appears under nonequilibrium conditions in a field of coherent laser radiation, are considered. It is shown that the absorption of light is caused by a quantum transition from the ground state of the crystal to the quasiexciton branch of the spectrum. Amplification of the signal occurs as a result of transitions from the quasiexciton branch of the spectrum to the ground state of the crystal. Fiz. Tverd. The theory of new type detectors based on the quenching of secondary emission in direct-gap semiconductors (lines of Raman light scattering due to interaction between free and bound excitons in the crystal, and also bands of edge radiation) caused by IR or submillimeter radiation is proposed. The results obtained are confirmed by the experiment performed for CdS crystal excited by ultraviolet radiation of mercury lamp, at liquid helium temperature.  相似文献

A novel scheme is proposed for stabilizing the intensity of a fluctuating laser source, using a partly saturated high gain traveling wave laser amplifier with a nonsaturable absorber distributed in the amplifying medium. Calculations for homogeneously broadened laser gain band in an adiabatic approximation are presented, which indicate that the stabilization factor can be increased by several orders of magnitude with the help of the absorber. An experiment is reported in which a two-stage dye laser amplifier with inserted attenuator, pumped by a nitrogen laser, is used to amplify and stabilize the intensity of an ultra-narrowband repetitively pulsed dye laser. The output intensity changes by less than a factor of four when the input is changed over three orders of magnitude. The rate of change of the LO-phonon population due to scattering by free carriers in the presence of two laser fields is calculated. It is found that LO-phonon propagating parallel to the direction of polarization of the radiation fields may become unstable over a relatively narrow range of phonon wavenumbers.  相似文献

The excitonic optical absorption of GaAs bulk semiconductors under intense terahertz (THz) radiation is investigated numerically. The method of solving initial-value problems, combined with the perfect matched layer technique, is used to calculate the optical susceptibility. In the presence of a driving THz field, in addition to the usual exciton peaks, 2p replica of the dark 2p exciton and even-THz-photon-sidebands of the main exciton resonance emerge in the continuum above the band edge and below the main exciton resonance. Moreover, to understand the shift of the position of the main exciton peak under intense THz radiation, it is necessary to take into consideration both the dynamical Franz-Keldysh effect and ac Stark effect simultaneously. For moderate frequency fields, the main exciton peak decreases and broadens due to the field-induced ionization of the excitons with THz field increasing. However, for high frequency THz fields, the characteristics of the exciton recur even under very strong THz fields, which accords with the recent experimental results qualitatively.  相似文献

We investigate here the possibility of generation of nonequilibrium magnons by electrons due to interband absorption of a laser field in magnetic semiconductors. It is found that under certain conditions the magnon excitation rate may become greater than the rate of relaxation and the magnon system may reach instability.  相似文献

A formalism is proposed for treating the problem of ionization of adsorbed species on solid surfaces. The ionizing agents are taken to be impact atoms and laser radiation with frequency low compared to the inverse of characteristic collision times. The physical constraints of short collision times and low laser frequency then allow one to treat the adatom-surface-plus-field system under the quasi-static approximation (QSA) and the impact-atom-adatom-surface collision dynamics under the impulse approximation (IMA). The latter leads to a time-dependent ionization cross-section which is factorizable into the square of an electron-atom scattering matrix element and a spectral function describing the energy-momentum distribution of electrons in the adatom-surface-plus-field system. The formalism focuses on the spectral function which is shown to be derivable from a single-particle Green's function exactly calculable for the present problem.  相似文献

The recombination radiation spectra of two-dimensional electrons in an asymmetrically doped GaAs/AlGaAs quantum well are investigated at different temperatures and laser-excitation energies. At low temperatures and in high magnetic fields the recombination lines of the electrons from completely filled Landau levels are split into narrow sublevels. It is shown that this fine structure of the Landau levels is due to the presence of excitonic effects in the initial and final states of the photoexcited system. It is demonstrated that the recombination process is accompanied by the excitation of intersubband and cyclotron magnetoplasma modes. Pis’ma Zh. éksp. Teor. An increase in the ionoluminescence intensity from a ZnS-CdS:Ag sample by a factor of more than 20 upon additional electronic excitation by UV light has been found. The effect decreases in magnitude with an increase in the energy of bombarding H2+ ions and peaks at an energy below 175 eV. This effect manifests itself in samples having a system of shallow electron traps and is due to the relaxation of highly excited anharmonic atomic vibrations, caused by the ion impact, through the electronic channel. A mechanism is proposed and computed for the phenomenon revealed.  相似文献

Special features of the parameteric amplification of light in a BBO crystal in the pumping field of YAG:Nd laser radiation (λ=1.064 μm) were investigated in the case in which the wavelength of the amplified signal of light lay within the eye-safe region of the spectrum and the idle wavelength lay within the region of strong absorption. The correlation between the parametric gain coefficient and the linear absorption coefficient of the crystal has been revealed. A double-pulsed neutral copper vapor laser, based on a Cu/CuCl discharge, was placed in tandem with a ZnCl2 discharge cell in a common optical cavity. The ZnCl2 in the separately heated discharge tube acted as a source of Cl-based plasma by- products which are also likely constituents of the Cu/CuCl laser plasma. The timing of the two discharges was varied relative to one another and the Cu laser emission at λ = 510 nm was monitored to test the optical absorption losses in the combined cavity in relation to time. The experiments provide some insight into the chemical effects in the laser plasma that may limit the energy output of a Cu/CuCl laser.  相似文献

Harmonics generation of high-frequency radiation in a plasma embedded in a constant electric field is investigated theoretically. It is shown that the electron directed motion due to the static electric field yields the appearance in the plasma emission spectrum of high-frequency radiation even harmonics. The conditions are established when the even harmonics generation is as effective as that of the odd ones. At variance with the odd harmonics, the even harmonics polarization plane is found to rotate with respect to that of the fundamental field.
