Ultrathin multilayer films of a rare-earth-containing polyoxometalate Na9[Eu(W5O18)2](EW) and poly (allymamine hydrochloride)(PAH) have been prepared by layer-by-layer self-assembly from dilute aqueous solution. The fabrication process of the EW/PAH multilaryer films was followed by UV-vis spectroscopy and ellipsometry, which show that the deposition process is linear and highly reproducible from layer to layer. An average EW/PAH bilayer thickness of ca.2.1nm was determined by ellipsometry. In addition, the scanning electron microscopy(SEM) image of the EW/PAH film indicates that the film surface is relatively uniform and smooth. The photoluminescent properties of these films were also investigated by fluorescence spectroscopy. 相似文献
The precursor film was first formed on the Au electrode surface based on the self‐assembly of L ‐cysteine and the adsorption of gold colloidal nanoparticles (nano‐Au). Layer‐by‐layer (LBL) assembly films of toluidine blue (TB) and nano‐Au were fabricated by alternately immersing the electrode with precursor film into the solution of toluidine blue and gold colloid. Cyclic voltammetry (CV) and quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) were adopted to monitor the regular growth of {TB/Au} bilayer films. The successful assembly of {TB/Au}n films brings a new strategy for electrochemical devices to construct layer‐by‐layer assembly films of nanomaterials and low molecular weight materials. In this article, {TB/Au}n films were used as model films to fabricate a mediated H2O2 biosensor based on horseradish peroxidase, which responded rapidly to H2O2 in the linear range from 1.5×10?7 mol/L to 8.6×10?3 mol/L with a detection limit of 7.0×10?8 mol/L. Morphologies of the final assembly films were characterized with scanning probe microscopy (SPM). 相似文献
Herein, we study the photoactivity of anatase–rutile bilayer thin films consisting of an anatase overlayer of variable thickness from some tenths to some hundred nanometers deposited onto a rutile thin film. As references single anatase layers of equivalent thickness were deposited onto silicon. All the films were characterized by X‐ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Raman spectroscopy. The photoactivity of the samples was assessed by following the evolution with the UV illumination time of both the wetting angle on the thin film surface and the decoloration of a dye in a water solution. While a similar efficiency is found for the first type of experiments irrespective of the anatase thickness, in the second type a maximum in the photoactivity is found for a thickness of the anatase layer of about 130 nm. This enhanced photoactivity in bilayer systems with a buried anatase–rutile heterojunction is related to the formation of different Schottky potential barriers in the anatase layer, depending on its thickness and the substrate (i.e. rutile or SiO2) where it is deposited. 相似文献
Combining vapor‐surface sol‐gel deposition of titania with alternate adsorption of oppositely charged iron heme proteins provided ultrathin {TiO2/protein}n films with reversible voltammetry extended to 15 TiO2/protein bilayers, more than twice that of more conventional polyion‐protein or nanoparticle‐protein films made by alternate layer‐by‐layer adsorption. Catalytic activity toward O2, H2O2, and NO was also improved significantly compared to the conventionally fabricated films. The method involves vaporization of titanium butoxide into thin films of water, forming porous TiO2 sol‐gel layers. Myoglobin (Mb), hemoglobin (Hb), and horseradish peroxidase (HRP) were assembled by adsorption alternated with the vapor‐deposited TiO2 layers. Improved electrochemical and catalytic performance may be related to better film permeability leading to better mass transport within the films, as suggested by studies with soluble voltammetric probes, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The electrochemical and electrocatalytic activity of the films can be controlled by tailoring the amount of water with which the metal alkoxide precursor vapor reacts and the number of bilayers deposited in the assembly. 相似文献
Biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) is widely used in packaging. Although its orientation increases mechanical strength and clarity, BOPP suffers from a high oxygen transmission rate (OTR). Multilayer thin films are deposited from water using layer‐by‐layer (LbL) assembly. Polyethylenimine (PEI) is combined with either poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) or vermiculite (VMT) clay to impart high oxygen barrier. A 30‐bilayer PEI/VMT nanocoating (226 nm thick) improves the OTR of 17.8 μm thick BOPP by more than 30X, rivaling most inorganic coatings. PEI/PAA multilayers achieve comparable barrier with only 12 bilayers due to greater thickness, but these films exhibit increased oxygen permeability at high humidity. The PEI/VMT coatings actually exhibit improved oxygen barrier at high humidity (and also improve moisture barrier by more than 40%). This high barrier BOPP meets the criteria for sensitive food and some electronics packaging applications. Additionally, this water‐based coating technology is cost effective and provides an opportunity to produce high barrier polypropylene film on an industrial scale.
A novel method of forming lipid bilayer membrane arrays on micropatterned polyelectrolyte film surfaces is introduced. Polyelectrolyte films were fabricated by the layer‐by‐layer technique on a silicon oxide surface modified with a 3‐aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES) monolayer. The surface pKa value of the APTES monolayer was determined by cyclic voltammetry to be approximately 5.61, on the basis of which a pH value of 2.0 was chosen for layer‐by‐layer assembly. Micropatterned polyelectrolyte films were obtained by deep‐UV (254 nm) photolysis though a mask. Absorbed fluorescent latex beads were used to visualize the patterned surfaces. Lipid bilayer arrays were fabricated on the micropatterned surfaces by immersing the patterned substrates into a solution containing egg phosphatidylcholine vesicles. Fluorescence recovery after photobleaching studies yielded a lateral diffusion coefficient for probe molecules of 1.31±0.17 μm2 s?1 in the bilayer region, and migration of the lipid NBD PE in bilayer lipid membrane arrays was observed in an electric field. 相似文献
Multilayer films consisting of carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) and ferrocene‐modified poly(ethyleneimine) (Fc‐PEI) or poly(allylamine hydrochloride) (Fc‐PAH) were successfully prepared on a gold electrode to examine their redox properties. The redox current of (Fc‐PEI/CMC)n film‐coated electrodes increased with the number of layers, while the (Fc‐PAH/CMC)n film‐coated electrodes exhibited increased response only for the first eight bilayers. The (Fc‐PEI/CMC)n and (Fc‐PAH/CMC)n films deposited on the surface of Fc‐free multilayer film‐coated electrodes also showed a redox response. The (PEI/CMC)5 film‐coated electrode showed redox responses in Fc‐PEI and Fc‐PAH solutions, confirming the uptake of the Fc‐polymers in the inner film. In contrast, the uptake of the Fc‐polymers in the (PAH/CMC)5 film was severely suppressed, suggesting that different permeability of (PEI/CMC)5 and (PAH/CMC)5 films. 相似文献
Calf thymus DNA was immobilized on functionalized glassy carbon, gold and quartz substrates, respectively, by the layer‐by‐layer (LBL) assembly method with a polycation QPVP‐Os, a quaternized poly(4‐vinylpyridine) partially complexed with osmium bis(2,2′‐bipyridine) as counterions. UV‐visible absorption and surface plasmon resonance spectroscopy (SPR) showed that the resulting film was uniform with the average thickness 3.4 nm for one bilayer. Cyclic voltammetry (CV) showed that the total surface coverage of the polycations increases as each QPVP‐Os/DNA bilayer added to the electrode surface, but the surface formal potential of Os‐centered redox reaction shifts negatively, which is mainly attributed to the intercalation of redox‐active complex to DNA chain. The electron transfer kinetics of electroactive QPVP‐Os in the multilayer film was investigated by electrochemical impedance experiment for the first time. The permeability of Fe(CN) in the solution into the multilayer film depends on the number of bilayers in the film. It is worth noting that when the multilayer film is up to 4 bilayers, the CV curves of the multilayer films display the typical characteristic of a microelectrode array. The nanoporous structure of the multilayer film was further confirmed by the surface morphology analysis using atomic force microscopy (AFM). 相似文献
Super gas barrier nanocoatings are recently demonstrated by combining polyelectrolytes and clay nanoplatelets with layer‐by‐layer deposition. These nanobrick wall thin films match or exceed the gas barrier of SiOx and metallized films, but they are relatively stiff and lose barrier with significant stretching (≥10% strain). In an effort to impart stretchability, hydrogen‐bonding polyglycidol (PGD) layers are added to an electrostatically bonded thin film assembly of polyethylenimine (PEI) and montmorillonite (MMT) clay. The oxygen transmission rate of a 125‐nm thick PEI‐MMT film increases more than 40x after being stretched 10%, while PGD‐PEI‐MMT trilayers of the same thickness maintain its gas barrier. This stretchable trilayer system has an OTR three times lower than the PEI‐MMT bilayer system after stretching. This report marks the first stretchable high gas barrier thin film, which is potentially useful for applications that require pressurized elastomers.
Electrochemical properties of Fc‐PEM films have been studied by changing the chemical structure of the polymer chains and the content of Fc moiety in the film systematically. We have prepared a series of PEM films by a layer‐by‐layer deposition of polycations, Fc‐modified poly(allylamine) (Fc‐PAA) and poly(ethyleneimine) (Fc‐PEI), and polyanionic poly(vinyl sulfate) (PVS) on the surface of a gold electrode. The redox properties of the Fc‐PAA/PVS and Fc‐PEI/PVS films depended significantly on the content of Fc moiety in the polymer chains and on the polymer type. Fc‐ PAA and Fc‐PEI polymer chains can penetrate 3 or 4 PAA/PVS bilayers inserted between the redox polymers and electrode. The Fc‐PAA film‐modified electrode can be used for electrocatalytic oxidation of ascorbic acid. 相似文献
A novel amperometric immunosensor based on L ‐cysteine/nanosized Prussian blue bilayer films ({NPB/L ‐cys}2) and gold nanoparticles (nano‐Au) was fabricated for determination of human chorionic gonadotrophin (HCG). First, L ‐cys and NPB was self‐assembled by layer‐by‐layer (LBL) technology to form {NPB/L ‐cys}2 bilayer films on the gold electrode. Subsequently, nano‐Au layer was immobilized on the {NPB/L ‐cys}2 bilayer films by electrodepositing gold chloride tetrahydrate and then anti‐HCG was assembly on the nano‐Au layer. Finally hemoglobin (Hb) was employed to block sites against nonspecific binding. With the electrocatalytic ability of Hb and NPB for the reduction of H2O2, the current signal of the antigen‐antibody reaction was amplified and the enhanced sensitivity was achieved. In this study, the assembly process and performance of the immunosensor were characterized by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and the morphology was researched by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The immunosensor performed a high sensitivity and a wide linear response to HCG in two ranges from 0.5 to 10 mIU/mL and from 10 to 200 mIU/mL with a relatively low detection limit of 0.2 mIU/mL at 3 times the background noise, as well as good stability and long‐term life. 相似文献
Photocatalytic multilayer nanocomposite films composed of anatase TiO2 nanoparticles and lignosulfonates (LS) were fabricated on quartz slides by the layer‐by‐layer (LBL) self‐assembly technique. X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), UV‐vis spectroscopy and atomic force microscopy (AFM) were used to characterize the TiO2/LS multilayer nanocomposite films. Moreover, the photocatalytic properties (decomposition of methyl orange and bacteria) of multilayer nanocomposite films were investigated. XPS results indicated that the intensities of titanium and sulfur peaks increased with the LBL deposition process. A linear increase in absorbance at 280 nm was found by UV‐Vis spectroscopy, suggesting that stepwise multilayer growth occurs on the substrate and this deposition process is highly reproducible. AFM images showed that quartz slide was completely covered by TiO2 nanoparticles when a 10‐bilayer multilayer film was formed. The decomposition efficiency of methyl orange by TiO2/LS multilayer films under the same UV irradiation time increased linearly with the number of TiO2 layers, and the results of decomposition of bacteria under UV irradiation showed that TiO2/LS multilayer nanocomposite films exhibited excellent decomposition activity of bacteria (Escherichia coil). 相似文献
The stepwise construction of a novel kind of self-assembled organic/inorganic multilayers based on multivalent supramolecular interactions between guest-functionalized dendrimers and host-modified gold nanoparticles has been developed, yielding supramolecular layer-by-layer assembly. The deposition process was monitored by surface plasmon resonance spectroscopy. Further characterization of the multilayer films was performed by means of UV/vis absorption spectroscopy, which showed a linear increase in absorption with the number of bilayers. The growth of the gold nanoparticle plasmon absorption band corresponded to approximately a dense monolayer of gold nanoparticles per bilayer. Ellipsometry and atomic force microscopy (AFM) scratching experiments were used to measure the development of the film thickness with the number of bilayers, confirming linear growth and a thickness increase of approximately 2 nm/bilayer. 相似文献
A ferrocene‐labeled high molecular weight coenzyme derivative (PEI‐Fc‐NAD) and a thermostable NAD‐dependent L ‐lysine 6‐dehydrogenase (LysDH) from thermophile Geobacillus stearothermophilus were used to fabricate a reagentless L ‐lysine sensor. Both LysDH and PEI‐Fc‐NAD were immobilized on the surface of a gold electrode by consecutive layer‐by‐layer adsorption (LBL) technique. By the simple LBL method, the reagentless L ‐lysine sensor, with co‐immobilization of the mediator, coenzyme, and enzyme was obtained, which exhibited current response to L ‐lysine without the addition of native coenzyme to the analysis system. The amperometric response of the sensor was dependent on the applied potential, bilayer number of PEI‐Fc‐NAD/LysDH, and substrate concentration. A linear current response, proportional to L ‐lysine concentration in the range of 1–120 mM was observed. The response of the sensor to L ‐lysine was decreased by 30% from the original activity after one month storage. 相似文献
