Circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) was observed from [Eu(dppda)2]? (dppda=4,7‐diphenyl‐1,10‐phenanthroline‐2,9‐dicarboxylic acid) and [Eu(pzpda)2]? (pzpda=pyrazino[2,3‐f][1,10]phenanthroline‐7,10‐dicarboxylic acid) in aqueous solutions containing various amino acids. The selectivity of these complexes towards amino acids enabled them to be used as chiral sensors and their behavior was compared with that of [Eu(pda)2]? (pda=1,10‐phenanthroline‐2,9‐dicarboxylic acid). As these EuIII complexes have achiral D2d structures under ordinary conditions, there were no CPL signals in the emission assigned to f–f transitions. However, when the solutions contained particular amino acids they exhibited detectable CPL signals with glum values of about 0.1 (glum=CPL/2 TL; TL=total luminescence). On examining 13 amino acids with these three EuIII complexes, it was found that whether an amino acid induced a detectable CPL depended on the EuIII complex ligands. For example, when ornithine was used as a chiral agent, only [Eu(dppda)2]? exhibited intense CPL in aqueous solutions of 10?2 mol dm?3. Steep amino acid concentration dependence suggested that CPL in [Eu(dppda)2]? and [Eu(pzpda)2]? was induced by the association of four or more amino acid molecules, whereas CPL in [Eu(pda)2]? was induced by association of two arginine molecules.  相似文献

The bis‐tetrazolate‐pyridine ligand H2pytz sensitises efficiently the visible and/or near‐IR luminescence emission of ten lanthanide cations (Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb). The LnIII complexes present sizeable quantum yields in both domains with a single excitation source. The wide range of possible colour combinations in water, organic solvents and the solid state makes the complexes very attractive for labelling and encoding.  相似文献

Solvothermal combination of trivalent lanthanide metal precursors with 1, 2, 4, 5‐cyclohexanetetracarboxylic acid (L) ligand has afforded the preparation of a family of eight new coordination polymers [Ln4(L)3(H2O)10] · 7H2O (Ln = Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb) ( 1 – 8 ). Structural analyses reveal that the 1, 2, 4, 5‐cyclohexanetetracarboxylic acid ligand with e,a,a,e (LI) conformation displays a μ4‐(κ3O, O, O5)(κ2O2,O2)(κ2O4,O4)‐bridging mode to generate 3D frameworks of complexes 1 – 8 and the α‐Po topology with the short Schläfli symbol {412.63} could be observed in complexes 1 – 8 . The near‐infrared luminescence properties were studied, and the results have shown that the HoIII, ErIII, and YbIII complexes emit typical near‐infrared luminescence in the solid‐state. Variable‐temperature magnetic susceptibility measurements of complexes 2 – 7 have shown that complex 2 (Gd) shows the ferromagnetic coupling between magnetic centers, whereas the complexes 3 – 7 show the antiferromagnetic coupling between magnetic centers. Additionally, the thermogravimetric analyses were discussed.  相似文献

[Eu(pda)2]? and [Eu(bda)2]? (pda=1,10‐phenanthroline‐2, 9‐dicarboxylic acid; bda=2,2′ bipyridine 5,5′‐dicarboxylic acid) have an achiral D2d structure in crystals. These complexes exhibit circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) in water containing chiral amino acids. In this work, induced CPL of [Eu(pda)2]? and [Eu(bda)2]? in water solutions containing a mixture of d ‐ and l ‐ amino acids were examined. Plots of glum values of the induced CPL as a function of mol‐fraction of l ‐ and d ‐ arginine reveal that [Eu(pda)2]? favors homo‐association ([Eu(pda)2]?‐(l ‐arginine)2 or [Eu(pda)2]?‐(d ‐arginine)2) over hetero‐association {[Eu(pda)2]?‐(l ‐arginine)?(d ‐arginine)}. This suggests that association of an arginine molecule induces a structural change in [Eu(pda)2]? to promote chiral selective association to another arginine, i.e., homo‐allosteric association. On the other hand, the system of [Eu(pda)2]? with histidine favors hetero‐allosteric association over homo‐association. No allosteric effect is recognized in CPL from [Eu(bda)2]?.  相似文献

By activation of the new host lattice Sr3La2W2O12 with the trivalent rare earth ions Nd, Eu, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb an intense emission in the visible and/or infrared region is obtained. Energy transfer from Er3+ to Tm3+ and Nd3+ to Yb3+ has been found to occur. The excitation, emission, and diffuse reflectance spectra are analyzed for Sr3La2W2O12: Ln3+ (Ln = Nd, Sm, Eu, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb).  相似文献

The preparation and characterization of a series of complexes of the Yb and Eu cations in the oxidation state II and III with the tetradentate N,O‐donor tripodal ligands (tris(2‐pyridylmethyl)amine (TPA), BPA? (HBPA=bis(2‐pyridylmethyl)(2‐hydroxybenzyl)amine), BPPA? (HBPPA=bis(2‐pyridylmethyl)(3.5‐di‐tert‐butyl‐2‐hydroxybenzyl)amine), and MPA2? (H2MPA=(2‐pyridylmethyl)bis(3.5‐di‐tert‐butyl‐2‐hydroxybenzyl)amine) is reported. The X‐ray crystal structures of the heteroleptic Ln2+ complexes [Ln(TPA)I2] (Ln=Eu, Yb) and [Yb(BPA)I(CH3CN)]2, of the Ln2+ homoleptic [Ln(TPA)2]I2 (Ln=Sm, Eu, Yb) and [Eu(BPA)2] complexes, and of the Ln3+ [Eu(BPPA)2]OTf and [Yb(MPA)2K(dme)2] (dme=dimethoxyethane) complexes have been determined. Cyclic voltammetry studies carried out on the bis‐ligand complexes of Eu3+ and Yb3+ show that the metal center reduction occurs at significantly lower potentials for the BPA? ligand as compared with the TPA ligand. This suggests that the more electron‐rich character of the BPA? ligand results in a higher reducing character of the lanthanide complexes of BPA? compared with those of TPA. The important differences in the stability and reactivity of the investigated complexes are probably due to the observed difference in redox potential. Preliminary reactivity studies show that whereas the bis‐TPA complexes of Eu2+ and Yb2+ do not show any reactivity with heteroallenes, the [Eu(BPA)2] complex reduces CS2 to afford the first example of a lanthanide trithiocarbonate complex.  相似文献

We recently found that [Eu(pda)2]? (pda: 1,10‐phenanthroline‐2,9‐dicarboxylic acid), which has an achiral structure in crystals, exhibits circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) in aqueous solutions containing chiral amino acids such as arginine and histidine. CPL measurements were performed for agar gel, which includes an aqueous solution of [Eu(pda)2]? and chiral arginine or histidine. The spectral shape, concentration, and pH dependences on CPL intensity in the agar gels were very close to those in aqueous solutions, indicating that the CPL of the EuIII complex in the agar gels was induced by mechanism similar to that in aqueous solutions. We performed spatially resolved CPL measurements using a laboratory‐built microscopic CPL spectroscopic system for agar‐gel samples, where d ‐ and l ‐ amino acids were separately dispersed. We successfully recorded CPL imaging maps showing spatial dispersions of d ‐ and l ‐amino acid in the agar gels.  相似文献

The synthesis of chiral C1‐symmetrical copper(I) complexes supported by chiral carbene ligands is described. These complexes are yellow emitters with modest quantum yields. Circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) spectra show a polarized emission band with dissymmetry factors |glum|=1.2×10?3. These complexes are the first reported examples of molecular copper(I) complexes exhibiting circularly polarized luminescence. In contrast with most CPL‐emitting molecules, which possess either helical or axial chirality, the results presented show that simple chiral architectures are suitable for CPL emission and unlock new synthetic possibilities.  相似文献

Determination of the absolute configuration (AC) of chiral molecules is a key issue in many fields related to chirality such as drug development, the asymmetric reaction screening, and the structure determination of natural compounds. Although various methods, such as X‐ray crystallography and NMR spectroscopy, are used to determine the AC, a simple and cheap alternative method is always anticipated. So far, electronic circular dichroism (ECD) spectroscopy has been widely used to ascertain the AC and enantiomeric excess (ee) values by applying appropriate organic probes. Here, circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) spectroscopy was applied to determine the AC and ee values of a series of amino acid and amino alcohol. The measurements were conducted by mixing the amino acids or amino alcohols with an achiral 1‐hydroxy‐2‐naphthaldehyde. Upon in situ formation of the Schiff base complexes, the system showed emission enhancement and CPL in the presence of Al3+, whose intensity and sign can be used to assign the chiral sense of the amino acids and amino alcohols. The authenticity of the method was further compared with the established CD spectroscopy, revealing that CPL spectra of formed Al3+ complex were effective to determine the AC of chiral species.  相似文献

The nature of the ternary complexes formed in aqueous media at ambient pH on reversible binding of acetate, lactate, citrate, and selected amino acids and peptides to chiral diaqua europium, gadolinium, or ytterbium cationic complexes has been examined. Crystal structures of the chelated ytterbium acetate and lactate complexes have been defined in which the carboxylate oxygen occupies an "equatorial" site in the nine-coordinate adduct. The zwitterionic adduct of the citrate anion with [EuL1] was similar to the chelated lactate structure, with a 5-ring chelate involving the apical 3-hydroxy group and the alpha-carboxylate. Analysis of Eu and Yb emission CD spectra and lifetimes (H2O and D2O) for each ternary complex, in conjunction with 1H NMR analyses of Eu/Yb systems and 17O NMR and relaxometric studies of the Gd analogues, suggests that carbonate, oxalate, and malonate each form a chelated (q = 0) square-antiprismatic complex in which the dipolar NMR paramagnetic shift (Yb, Eu) and the emission circular polarization (gem for Eu) are primarily determined by the polarizability of the axial ligand. The ternary complexes with hydrogen phosphate, with fluoride, and with Phe, His, and Ser at pH 6 are suggested to be monoaqua systems with Eu/Gd with an apical bound water molecule. However, for the ternary complexes of simple amino acids with [YbL1]3+, the enhanced charge demand favors a chelate structure with the amine N in an apical position. Crystal structures of the Gly and Ser adducts confirm this. In peptides and proteins (e.g. albumin) containing Glu or Asp residues, the more basic side chain carboxylate may chelate to the Ln ion, displacing both waters.  相似文献

The superbulky deca‐aryleuropocene [Eu(CpBIG)2], CpBIG=(4‐nBu‐C6H4)5‐cyclopentadienyl, was prepared by reaction of [Eu(dmat)2(thf)2], DMAT=2‐Me2N‐α‐Me3Si‐benzyl, with two equivalents of CpBIGH. Recrystallizyation from cold hexane gave the product with a surprisingly bright and efficient orange emission (45 % quantum yield). The crystal structure is isomorphic to those of [M(CpBIG)2] (M=Sm, Yb, Ca, Ba) and shows the typical distortions that arise from CpBIG???CpBIG attraction as well as excessively large displacement parameter for the heavy Eu atom (Ueq=0.075). In order to gain information on the true oxidation state of the central metal in superbulky metallocenes [M(CpBIG)2] (M=Sm, Eu, Yb), several physical analyses have been applied. Temperature‐dependent magnetic susceptibility data of [Yb(CpBIG)2] show diamagnetism, indicating stable divalent ytterbium. Temperature‐dependent 151Eu Mössbauer effect spectroscopic examination of [Eu(CpBIG)2] was examined over the temperature range 93–215 K and the hyperfine and dynamical properties of the EuII species are discussed in detail. The mean square amplitude of vibration of the Eu atom as a function of temperature was determined and compared to the value extracted from the single‐crystal X‐ray data at 203 K. The large difference in these two values was ascribed to the presence of static disorder and/or the presence of low‐frequency torsional and librational modes in [Eu(CpBIG)2]. X‐ray absorbance near edge spectroscopy (XANES) showed that all three [Ln(CpBIG)2] (Ln=Sm, Eu, Yb) compounds are divalent. The XANES white‐line spectra are at 8.3, 7.3, and 7.8 eV, for Sm, Eu, and Yb, respectively, lower than the Ln2O3 standards. No XANES temperature dependence was found from room temperature to 100 K. XANES also showed that the [Ln(CpBIG)2] complexes had less trivalent impurity than a [EuI2(thf)x] standard. The complex [Eu(CpBIG)2] shows already at room temperature strong orange photoluminescence (quantum yield: 45 %): excitation at 412 nm (24270 cm?1) gives a symmetrical single band in the emission spectrum at 606 nm (νmax=16495 cm?1, FWHM: 2090 cm?1, Stokes‐shift: 2140 cm?1), which is assigned to a 4f65d1→4f7 transition of EuII. These remarkable values compare well to those for EuII‐doped ionic host lattices and are likely caused by the rigidity of the [Eu(CpBIG)2] complex. Sharp emission signals, typical for EuIII, are not visible.  相似文献

Ligand L, based on two do3a moieties linked by the methylene groups of 6,6′‐dimethyl‐2,2′‐bipyridine, was synthesized and characterized. The addition of Ln salts to an aqueous solution of L (0.01 M Tris‐HCl, pH 7.4) led to the successive formation of [LnL] and [Ln2L] complexes, as evidenced by UV/Vis and fluorescence titration experiments. Homodinuclear [Ln2L] complexes (Ln=Eu, Gd, Tb, Yb, and Lu) were prepared and characterized. The 1H and 13C NMR spectra of the Lu and Yb complexes in D2O solution (pD=7.0) showed C1 symmetry of these species in solution, pointing to two different chemical environments for the two lanthanide cations. The analysis of the chemical shifts of the Yb complex indicated that the two coordination sites present square antiprismatic (SAP) coordination environments around the metal ions. The spectroscopic properties of the [Tb2L] complex upon ligand excitation revealed conventional behavior with τH2O=2.05(1) ms and ?H2O=51 %, except for the calculation of the hydration number obtained from the luminescent lifetimes in H2O and D2O, which pointed to a non‐integer value of 0.6 water molecules per TbIII ion. In contrast, the Eu complex revealed surprising features such as: 1) the presence of two and up to five components in the 5D07F0 and 5D07F1 emission bands, respectively; 2) marked differences between the normalized spectra obtained in H2O and D2O solutions; and 3) unconventional temporal evolution of the luminescence intensity at certain wavelengths, the intensity profile first displaying a rising step before the occurrence of the expected decay. Additional spectroscopic experiments performed on [Gd2?xEuxL] complexes (x=0.1 and 1.9) confirmed the presence of two distinct Eu sites with hydration numbers of 0 (site I) and 2 (site II), and showed that the unconventional temporal evolution of the emission intensity is the result of an unprecedented intramolecular Eu‐to‐Eu energy‐transfer process. A mathematical model was developed to interpret the experimental data, leading to energy‐transfer rates of 0.98 ms?1 for the transfer from the site with q=0 to that with q=2 and vice versa. Hartree–Fock (HF) and density functional theory (DFT) calculations performed at the B3LYP level were used to investigate the conformation of the complex in solution, and to estimate the intermetallic distance, which provided Förster radii (R0) values of 8.1 Å for the energy transfer from site I to site II, and 6.8 Å for the reverse energy transfer. These results represent the first evidence of an intramolecular energy‐transfer equilibrium between two identical lanthanide cations within a discrete molecular complex in solution.  相似文献

Circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) was observed in pyrene zipper arrays helically arranged on an RNA duplex. Hybridization of complementary RNA strands having multiple (two to five) 2′‐O‐pyrenylmethyl modified nucleosides affords an RNA duplex with normal thermal stability. The pyrene fluorophores are assembled like a zipper in a well‐defined helical manner along the axis of RNA duplex, which, upon 350 nm UV illumination, resulted in CPL emission with pyrene excimer formation. CPL (glum) levels observed for the pyrene arrays in dilute aqueous solution were +2×10?2–+3.5×10?2, which are comparable with |glum| for chiral organic molecules and related systems. The positive CPL signals are consistent with a right‐handed helical structure. Temperature dependence on CPL emission indicates that the stable rigid RNA structure is responsible for the strong CPL signals. The single pyrene‐modified RNA duplex did not show any CPL signal.  相似文献

Complexes of 4,10‐bis(phosphonomethyl)‐1,4,7,10‐tetraazacyclododecane‐1,7‐diacetic acid (trans‐H6do2a2p, H6 L ) with transition metal and lanthanide(III) ions were investigated. The stability constant values of the divalent and trivalent metal‐ion complexes are between the corresponding values of H4dota and H8dotp complexes, as a consequence of the ligand basicity. The solid‐state structures of the ligand and of nine lanthanide(III) complexes were determined by X‐ray diffraction. All the complexes are present as twisted‐square‐antiprismatic isomers and their structures can be divided into two series. The first one involves nona‐coordinated complexes of the large lanthanide(III) ions (Ce, Nd, Sm) with a coordinated water molecule. In the series of Sm, Eu, Tb, Dy, Er, Yb, the complexes are octa‐coordinated only by the ligand donor atoms and their coordination cages are more irregular. The formation kinetics and the acid‐assisted dissociation of several LnIII–H6 L complexes were investigated at different temperatures and compared with analogous data for complexes of other dota‐like ligands. The [Ce( L )(H2O)]3? complex is the most kinetically inert among complexes of the investigated lanthanide(III) ions (Ce, Eu, Gd, Yb). Among mixed phosphonate–acetate dota analogues, kinetic inertness of the cerium(III) complexes is increased with a higher number of phosphonate arms in the ligand, whereas the opposite is true for europium(III) complexes. According to the 1H NMR spectroscopic pseudo‐contact shifts for the Ce–Eu and Tb–Yb series, the solution structures of the complexes reflect the structures of the [Ce(H L )(H2O)]2? and [Yb(H L )]2? anions, respectively, found in the solid state. However, these solution NMR spectroscopic studies showed that there is no unambiguous relation between 31P/1H lanthanide‐induced shift (LIS) values and coordination of water in the complexes; the values rather express a relative position of the central ions between the N4 and O4 planes.  相似文献

An 1H, 13C, and 15N NMR study has been completed for the complexes of La(III), Tm(III), and Yb(III) with nitrate and isothiocyanate in aqueous solvent mixtures. Signals for four complexes are observed for both the Tm3+–NO3 and Yb3+–NO3 solutions, with the species identified as the mono-, di-, tetra-, and either the penta - or hexanitrato. These results are consistent with those determined for the nitrate complexes of the Ce(III)–Eu(III) metal ions. The chemical shifts for the Tm(III) and Yb(III) nitrate complexes indicate a pseudocontact binding mechanism prevails. The complexes of diamagnetic La(III) with NO3 produce three signals in the 15NO3 spectra, with assignments paralleling those observed with the paramagnetic lanthanides. Three complexes are formed in the La3+–NCS solutions, with signals assigned to the mono-, di-, and triisothiocyanato species.  相似文献

We report the synthesis of Ln3+ nitrate [Ln(Tpm)(NO3)3] ⋅ MeCN (Ln=Yb ( 1Yb ), Eu ( 1Eu )) and chloride [Yb(Tpm)Cl3] ⋅ 2MeCN ( 2Yb ), [Eu(Tpm)Cl2(μ-Cl)]2 ( 2Eu ) complexes coordinated by neutral tripodal tris(3,5-dimethylpyrazolyl)methane (Tpm). The crystal structures of 1Ln and 2Ln were established by single crystal X-ray diffraction, while for 1Yb high resolution experiment was performed. Nitrate complexes 1Ln are isomorphous and both adopt mononuclear structure. Chloride 2Yb is monomeric, while Eu3+ analogue 2Eu adopts a binuclear structure due to two μ2-bridging chloride ligands. The typical lanthanide luminescence was observed for europium complexes ( 1Eu and 2Eu ) as well as for terbium and dysprosium analogues ([Ln(Tpm)(NO3)3] ⋅ MeCN, Ln=Tb ( 1Tb ), Dy ( 1Dy ); [Ln(Tpm)Cl3] ⋅ 2MeCN, Ln=Tb ( 2Tb ), Dy ( 2Dy )).  相似文献

The synthesis of the cyclen derivative H4 L 1 ?2 HBr containing four 2‐hydroxybenzamide groups is described. The spectroscopic properties of the LnIII conplexes of L 1 (Ln=Gd, Tb, Yb, and Eu) reveal changes of the UV/VIS‐absorption, circular‐dichroism‐absorption, luminescence, and circularly polarized luminescence spectra. It is shown that at least two metal‐complex species are present in solution, whose relative amounts are pH dependent. At pH>8.0, an intense long‐lived emission is observed (for [Tb L 1 ] and [Yb L 1 ]), while at pH<8.0, a weaker, shorter‐lived species predominates. Unconventional LnIII emitters (Pr, Nd, Sm, Dy, and Tm) were sensitized in basic solution, both in the VIS and in the near‐IR, to measure the emission of these ions.  相似文献

Helically chiral N,N,O,O‐boron chelated dipyrromethenes showed solution‐phase circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) in the red region of the visible spectrum (λem(max) from 621 to 663 nm). The parent dipyrromethene is desymmetrised through O chelation of boron by the 3,5‐ortho‐phenolic substituents, inducing a helical chirality in the fluorophore. The combination of high luminescence dissymmetry factors (|glum| up to 4.7 ×10?3) and fluorescence quantum yields (ΦF up to 0.73) gave exceptionally efficient circularly polarized red emission from these simple small organic fluorophores, enabling future application in CPL‐based bioimaging.  相似文献

Nine new A2Mo4Sb2O18 (A=Ce, Pr, Eu, Tb, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, Lu) compounds have been synthesized by solid-state reactions. They are isostructural with six reported analogues of yttrium and other lanthanides and the monoclinic unit cell parameters of all fifteen of them vary linearly with the size of A3+ ion. Single crystal X-ray structures of eight A2Mo4Sb2O18 (A=Ce, Pr, Eu, Gd, Tb, Ho, Er, Tm) compounds have been determined. Neat A2Mo4Sb2O18 (A=Pr, Sm, Eu, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm) compounds exhibit characteristic rare earth metal photoluminescence.  相似文献

The complexes of heavy lanthanides and yttrium with 2,3-dimethoxybenzoic acid of the formula: Ln(C9h9O4)3·nH2O, where Ln=Tb(III), Dy(III), Ho(III), Er(III), Tm(III), Yb(III), Lu(III), Y(III), and n=2 for Tb(III), Dy(III), Ho(III), Y(III), n=1 for Er(III), Tm(III), n=0 for Yb(III) and Lu(III) have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, ir spectroscopy, thermogravimetric studies and x-ray diffraction measurements. The complexes have colours typical for Lnł3+ ions (Tb(III), Dy(III), Tm(III), Yb(III), Lu(III), Y(III) - white; Ho(III) - cream and Er(III) - salmon). the carboxylate groups in these complexes are a symmetrical, bidentate, chelating ligand or tridentate chelating-bridging. they are isostructural crystalline compounds characterized by low symmetry. On heating in air to 1273 k the 2,3-dimethoxybenzoates of heavy lanthanides and yttrium decompose in various ways. The complexes of Tb(III), Dy(III), Ho(III), Er(III), Tm(III) and Y(III) at first dehydrate to form anhydrous salts which next are decomposed to the oxides of the respective metals. 2,3-dimethoxybenzoates of Yb(III) and Lu(III) are directly decomposed to oxides. When heated in nitrogen the hydrates also dehydrate in one step to form the anhydrous complexes that next form the mixture of carbon and oxides of respective metals or their carbonates. The solubility of the yttrium and heavy lanthanide 2,3-dimethoxybenzoates in water at 293 k is of the order of 10-2 mol dm-3. This revised version was published online in July 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献
