We consider an approximate method based on the alternate trapezoidal quadrature for the eigenvalue problem given by a periodic singular Fredholm integral equation of second kind. For some convolution-type integral kernels, the eigenvalues of the discrete eigenvalue problem provided by the alternate trapezoidal quadrature method have multiplicity at least two, except up to two eigenvalues of multiplicity one. In general, these eigenvalues exhibit some symmetry properties that are not necessarily observed in the eigenvalues of the continuous problem. For a class of Hilbert-type kernels, we provide error estimates that are valid for a subset of the discrete spectrum. This subset is further enlarged in an improved quadrature method presented herein. The results are illustrated through numerical examples.  相似文献

The concern of this paper is to study the optimization of adaptive direct algorithms for approximate solution of the second kind Fredholm integral equations. We derive the exact order of the problem with integral kernels belonging to the Besov classes. We apply the semigroup setting of Desch and Miller to a class of stochastic integral equations of Volterra type with completely monotone kernels with a multiplicative noise term; the corresponding equation is an infinite dimensional stochastic equation with unbounded diffusion operator that we solve with the semigroup approach of Da Prato and Zabczyk. As a motivation of our results, we study an optimal control problem when the control enters the system together with the noise.   相似文献

In this paper, we consider the problem of optimization of adaptive direct methods of operator equations. Adaptivity of a direct method is understood in the sense that the subspace on the basis of which it is constructed is chosen depending on the operator of the concrete equation (otherwise, nonadaptive direct method is then concerned), which would essentially let us increase the precision. For some classes of the second kind of Fredhlom integral equations with anisotropic smooth kernels we determine the exact order of the error of adaptive direct methods, and we also give an optimal algorithm. We consider an integral equation of the convolution type with two kernels, generated by functions from some Banach algebras, and a linear equation with two coefficients in abstract rings with factorial pairs of sub-rings. ABSTRACT

We prove the appearance of an explicit lower bound on the solution to the full Boltzmann equation in the torus for a broad family of collision kernels including in particular long-range interaction models, under the assumption of some uniform bounds on some hydrodynamic quantities. This lower bound is independent of time and space. When the collision kernel satisfies Grad's cutoff assumption, the lower bound is a global Maxwellian and its asymptotic behavior in velocity is optimal, whereas for noncutoff collision kernels the lower bound we obtain decreases exponentially but faster than the Maxwellian. Our results cover solutions constructed in a spatially homogeneous setting, as well as small-time or close-to-equilibrium solutions to the full Boltzmann equation in the torus. The constants are explicit and depend on the a priori bounds on the solution.  相似文献

In many branches of astrophysics, physics, biology, and nuclear engineering, the underlying functional equation is a Fredholm integral equation. In this paper, it is shown that Fredholm integral equations with semi-degenerate kernels can be reduced to initial-value problems for systems of ordinary differential equations using an interesting formula for the Fredholm resolvent. Semi-degenerate kernels are encountered in many applications in the foregoing fields. This procedure facilitates the computational solution of the two-point boundary-value problem by both analog and digital computers.  相似文献

Closed form solution of quadruple series equations involving cosine kernels has been obtained by reducing the series equations into triple Abel's type integral equations which in turn are reduced to a single integral equation. Making use of finite Hilbert transforms the solution of the single integral equation is obtained in closed form. This solution is used to solve an electrostatic problem. The results of this paper have also been used in a two-dimensional elastostatic problem under anti-plane shear and the effect of rigid line inclusions with thickness on the Griffith cracks has been examined. The expressions for shear stress and stress intensity factor at the tip of the crack are obtained. Finally, some numerical results for the stress intensity factor and shear stress distribution are obtained.  相似文献

In regularized kernel methods, the solution of a learning problem is found by minimizing a functional consisting of a empirical risk and a regularization term. In this paper, we study the existence of optimal solution of multi-kernel regularization learning. First, we ameliorate a previous conclusion about this problem given by Micchelli and Pontil, and prove that the optimal solution exists whenever the kernel set is a compact set. Second, we consider this problem for Gaussian kernels with variance σ∈(0,∞), and give some conditions under which the optimal solution exists.  相似文献

For some values of characteristics of p-analytic and (p, q)-analytic functions, the values of kernels of Cauchy integrals are found in an explicit form involving elementary and special functions. We deal with an optimal control problem in coefficients for a strongly degenerate diffusion equation with interior degeneracy, which is due to the nonnegative diffusion coefficient vanishing with some rate at an interior point of a multi-dimensional space domain. The optimal controller is searched in the class of functions having essentially bounded partial derivatives. The existence of the state system and of the optimal control are proved in a functional framework constructed on weighted spaces. By an approximating control process, explicit approximating optimality conditions are deduced, and a representation theorem allows one to express the approximating optimal control as the solution to the eikonal equation. Under certain hypotheses, further properties of the approximating optimal control are proved, including uniqueness in some situations. The uniform convergence of a sequence of approximating controllers to the solution of the exact control problem is provided. The optimal controller is numerically constructed in a square domain.  相似文献

Approximations to a solution and its derivatives of a boundary value problem of an nth order linear Fredholm integro-differential equation with weakly singular or other nonsmooth kernels are determined. These approximations are piecewise polynomial functions on special graded grids. For their finding a discrete Galerkin method and an integral equation reformulation of the boundary value problem are used. Optimal global convergence estimates are derived and an improvement of the convergence rate of the method for a special choice of parameters is obtained. To illustrate the theoretical results a collection of numerical results of a test problem is presented.  相似文献

We study how to transform Cauchy problems for Volterra integro-differential equations with functional delays to resolving Volterra integral equations with conventional argument by using a modification of a function of flexible structure. We show that such a transformation is possible for all linear Volterra integro-differential equations of retarded type. There exists a unique solution of the resolving equation provided that the kernels and the right-hand side are bounded in the closed square. The presence of parameters in the expression for the function of flexible structure permits one to choose these parameters in an optimal way in the course of the solution of the problem so as to represent the solution in closed form or, if this is difficult, optimize an approximate solution method. The accuracy of the approximate solutions is estimated.  相似文献

In this paper, we first design a time optimal control problem for the heat equation with sampled-data controls, and then use it to approximate a time optimal control problem for the heat equation with distributed controls.The study of such a time optimal sampled-data control problem is not easy, because it may have infinitely many optimal controls. We find connections among this problem, a minimal norm sampled-data control problem and a minimization problem, and obtain some properties on these problems. Based on these, we not only build up error estimates for optimal time and optimal controls between the time optimal sampled-data control problem and the time optimal distributed control problem, in terms of the sampling period, but we also prove that such estimates are optimal in some sense.  相似文献

We justify the direct projection method for solving an integral equation with a logarithmic singularity in the kernel. The equation is treated as a mapping of one Hilbert space into another Hilbert space. The spaces are chosen from conditions ensuring the solution of a broad class of mathematical modeling problems with the use of a simple layer potential. The idea of the projection method is to choose finite-dimensional subspaces into which the exact solution and the right-hand side of the equation are projected. In this case, the problem of finding an approximate solution does not require computing the convolution of kernels. We prove an estimate for the solution error in the norm of the original operator equation.  相似文献

We consider linear equations for analytic functions in the complex plane with cuts along a half of the boundary of a quadrangle. We propose a regularization method that reduces the equations to an equation with summary-difference kernels. A fully discrete version of a piecewise polynomial collocation method is constructed to solve initial or boundary value problems of linear Fredholm integro-differential equations with weakly singular kernels. Using an integral equation reformulation and special graded grids, optimal global convergence estimates are derived. For special values of parameters an improvement of the convergence rate of elaborated numerical schemes is established. Some of our theoretical results are illustrated by numerical experiments.  相似文献

In this paper some relations for the kernels of the Carleman–Vekua equation, in particular the representations of these kernels in the form of generalized power functions completely analogous to the well-known elementary Cauchy kernel expansion, are studied.
