The only known circulant ordinary Hadamard matrix is developed from the initial row-1, 1, 1, 1. Letp be a prime, and letZ p denote the cyclic group of orderp. In this paper, we construct circulantGH(p 2;Z p ) for all primesp. Whenp is odd, this result also extends the earlier result that there exist circulantGH(p;Z p ) for all odd primesp. Suppose F is a field of characteristic not 2. Let Mn F and Sn F be the n × n full matrix space and symmetric matrix space over F, respectively. All additive maps from Sn F to Sn F (respectively, Mn F) preserving Moore–Penrose inverses of matrices are characterized. We first characterize all additive Moore–Penrose inverse preserving maps from Sn F to Mn F, and thereby, all additive Moore–Penrose inverse preserving maps from Sn F to itself are characterized by restricting the range of these additive maps into the symmetric matrix space.  相似文献

We consider the existence of distributional (or L 2 ) solutions of the matrix refinement equation where P is an r×r matrix with trigonometric polynomial entries. One of the main results of this paper is that the above matrix refinement equation has a compactly supported distributional solution if and only if the matrix P (0) has an eigenvalue of the form 2 n , . A characterization of the existence of L 2 -solutions of the above matrix refinement equation in terms of the mask is also given. A concept of L 2 -weak stability of a (finite) sequence of function vectors is introduced. The classes of P-, P 0-, R 0-, semimonotone, strictly semimonotone, column sufficient, and nondegenerate matrices play important roles in studying solution properties of equations and complementarity problems and convergence/complexity analysis of methods for solving these problems. It is known that the problem of deciding whether a square matrix with integer/rational entries is a P- (or nondegenerate) matrix is co-NP-complete. We show, through a unified analysis, that analogous decision problems for the other matrix classes are also co-NP-complete. Abstract

In ring theory it is well known that a ring R with identity is isomorphic to a matrix ring if and only if R has a set of matrix units. In this paper, the above result is extended to matrix near-rings and it is proved that a near-ring R with identity is isomorphic to a matrix near-ring if and only if R has a set of matrix units and satisfies two other conditions. As a consequence of this result several examples of matrix near-rings are given and for a finite group (Γ, +) with o(Γ) > 2 it is proved that M0n) is (isomorphic to) a matrix near-ring.  相似文献

We find the matrix representation of the set Δ(d 3), where d 3=(d 1,d 2,d 3), of integers that are unrepresentable by d 1,d 2,d 3 and develop a diagrammatic procedure for calculating the generating function Φ(d 3;z) for the set Δ(d 3). We find the Frobenius number F(d 3), the genus G(d 3), and the Hilbert series H(d 3;z) of a graded subring for nonsymmetric and symmetric semigroups and enhance the lower bounds of F(d 3) for symmetric and nonsymmetric semigroups.   相似文献

Let (A, ?) be a structurable algebra. Then the opposite algebra (A op , ?) is structurable, and we show that the triple system B op A(x, y, z):=Vopx,y(z)=x(y¯z)+z(y¯x)?y(x¯z), x, y, z ∈ A, is a Kantor triple system (or generalized Jordan triple system of the second order) satisfying the condition (A). Furthermore, if A=𝔸1?𝔸2 denotes tensor products of composition algebras, (?) is the standard conjugation, and () denotes a certain pseudoconjugation on A, we show that the triple systems B op 𝔸1?𝔸2 ( x , y¯, z) are models of compact Kantor triple systems. Moreover these triple systems are simple if (dim𝔸1, dim𝔸2) ≠ (2, 2). In addition, we obtain an explicit formula for the canonical trace form for compact Kantor triple systems defined on tensor products of composition algebras.  相似文献

Let E be an elliptic curve over Q and p a prime number. Denote by Qp,∞ the Zp-extension of Q. In this paper, we show that if p≠3, then where E(Qp,∞)(2) is the 2-primary part of the group E(Qp,∞) of Qp,∞-rational points on E. More precisely, in case p=2, we completely classify E(Q2,∞)(2) in terms of E(Q)(2); in case p≥5 (or in case p=3 and E(Q)(2)≠{O}), we show that E(Qp,∞)(2)=E(Q)(2).  相似文献

Let SL2 (C,q) be the principal congruence subgroup of SL2(C) andU 2(C,q) be the subgroup generated by the all unipotent matrices in SL2(C,q), whereq is aC-ideal. In this paper we prove that, for all but finitely manyq, the quotient SL2(C,q)/U 2(C,q) is a free group of finite,unbounded rank. LetC(SL2(A)) be the congruence kernel of SL2(A), whereA is an arithmetic Dedekind domain with only finitely many units. (e.g.A=C or ℤ) and letG be any finitely generated group. From the above (and previous results) we deduce that the profinite completion ofG,Ĝ, is a homonorphic image ofC(SL2(A)). This is related to previous results of Lubotzky and Mel'nikov.  相似文献

An n×n sign pattern matrix A is an inertially arbitrary pattern (IAP) if each non-negative triple (r s t) with r+s+t=n is the inertia of a matrix with sign pattern A. This paper considers the n×n(n2) skew-symmetric sign pattern Sn with each upper off-diagonal entry positive, the (1,1) entry negative, the (n n) entry positive, and every other diagonal entry zero. Let R be a ring and β×α(R) (? β×α(R)) the set of all β × α full (row finite) matrices over R where α and β ≥ 1 are two cardinal numbers. A left R-module M is said to be “injective relative” to a matrix A ? ? β×α(R) if every R-homomorphism from R (β) A to M extends to one from R (α) to M. It is proved that M is injective relative to A if and only if it is A-pure in every module which contains M as a submodule. A right R-module N is called flat relative to a matrix A ?  β×α(R) if the canonical map μ: N? R (β) A → N α is a monomorphism. This extends the notion of (m, n)-flat modules so that n-projectivity, finitely projectivity, and τ-flatness can be redefined in terms of flatness relative to certain matrices. ABSTRACT

A ring R is called an n-clean (resp. Σ-clean) ring if every element in R is n-clean (resp. Σ-clean). Clean rings are 1-clean and hence are Σ-clean. An example shows that there exists a 2-clean ring that is not clean. This shows that Σ-clean rings are a proper generalization of clean rings. The group ring ?(p) G with G a cyclic group of order 3 is proved to be Σ-clean. The m× m matrix ring M m (R) over an n-clean ring is n-clean, and the m×m (m>1) matrix ring M m (R) over any ring is Σ-clean. Additionally, rings satisfying a weakly unit 1-stable range were introduced. Rings satisfying weakly unit 1-stable range are left-right symmetric and are generalizations of abelian π-regular rings, abelian clean rings, and rings satisfying unit 1-stable range. A ring R satisfies a weakly unit 1-stable range if and only if whenever a 1 R + ˙˙˙ a m R = dR, with m ≥ 2, a 1,…, a m, d ∈ R, there exist u 1 ∈ U(R) and u 2,…, u m ∈ W(R) such that a 1 u 1 + ? a m u m = Rd.  相似文献

Bayes estimation of the number of signals, q, based on a binomial prior distribution is studied. It is found that the Bayes estimate depends on the eigenvalues of the sample covariance matrix S for white-noise case and the eigenvalues of the matrix S 2 (S 1+A)–1 for the colored-noise case, where S 1 is the sample covariance matrix of observations consisting only noise, S 2 the sample covariance matrix of observations consisting both noise and signals and A is some positive definite matrix. Posterior distributions for both the cases are derived by expanding zonal polynomial in terms of monomial symmetric functions and using some of the important formulae of James (1964, Ann. Math. Let k ? K be an extension of fields, and let A ? M n (K) be a k-algebra. We study parameter spaces of m-dimensional subspaces of K n which are invariant under A. The space A (m, n), whose R-rational points are A-invariant, free rank m summands of R n , is well known. We construct a distinct parameter space, A (m, n), which is a fiber product of a Grassmannian and the projectivization of a vector space. We then study the intersection A (m, n) ∩  A (m, n), which we denote by A (m, n). Under suitable hypotheses on A, we construct affine open subschemes of A (m, n) and A (m, n) which cover their K-rational points. We conclude by using A (m, n), A (m, n), and A (m, n) to construct parameter spaces of 2-sided subspaces of 2-sided vector spaces.  相似文献

A measurable set Q ⊂ R n is a wavelet set for an expansive matrix A if F −1 (ΧQ) is an A-dilation wavelet. Dai, Larson, and Speegle [7] discovered the existence of wavelet sets in R n associated with any real n ×n expansive matrix. In this work, we construct a class of compact wavelet sets which do not contain the origin and which are, up to a certain linear transformation, finite unions of integer translates of an integral selfaffine tile associated with the matrix B = A t. Some of these wavelet sets may have good potential for applications because of their tractable geometric shapes.  相似文献
