Summary Consider the Dirichlet problem for an elliptic equation in a domain , with coefficients having discontinuity on a surface . Suppose divides into 1 2(2 the inner core), the thickness of 1 is of order of magnitude , and the modulus of ellipticity in 1 is of order magnitude 1. The asymptotic behavior of the solution is studied as 0, 1 0, provided lim (/1) exists. We consider the nonlinear diffusion-absorption problem in L1() u - div a(, Du) + j (, u) f on , u = 0 on where is an arbitrary open set in N. Conditions for the existence of a strong solution are presented and the existence of a natural generalized solution in the general case is established. We study the dependence of the generalized solution on the absorption term j and characterize generalized solutions which are essentially bounded.  相似文献

In this paper differentiation theorems are proved for d-dimensional bounded processes in Lp((,,µ); X) which are additive with respect to T. Let T- S, be a family of not necessarily bounded semi-Fredholm operators, where T and S are operators acting between Banach spaces X and Y, and where S is bounded with D(S) D(T). For compact sets , as well as for certain open sets , we investigate existence and minimal rank of bounded feedback perturbations of the form F=BE such that min.ind (T-S+F)=0 for all . Here B is a given operator from a linear space Z to Y and E is some operator from X to Z.We give a simple characterization of that situation, when such regularizing feedback perturbations exist and show that for compact sets the minimal rank never exceeds max { min.ind (T-S) }+1. Moreover, an example shows that the minimal rank, in fact, may increase from max {...} to max {...}+1, if the given B enforces a certain structure of the feedbachk perturbation F.However, the minimal rank is equal to max { min.ind (T-S) }, if is an open set such that min.ind (T-S) already vanishes for all but finitely many points . We illustrate this result by applying it to the stabilization of certain infinite-dimensional dynamical systems in Hilbert space.  相似文献

Continuing the research of part I conditions equivalent to ()- or ()-nuclearity of spaces of ultradifferential functions and their duals as well as some applications are given. To get these results it is shown that tensor products of smooth sequence spaces, power series spaces, and spaces S(Mq) introduced in part I are isomorphic to suitable sequence spaces of the same class, which are stable provided the factors are stable power series spaces. Hence it is possible to establish isomorphisms between different functions spaces, to calculate the nuclearity types of tensor products by the nuclearity types of the factors, and to prove that the class of ()- or ()-nuclear spaces is closed under forming tensor products iff is multiplicatively stable.  相似文献

Summary Let be a natural exponential family on and (V, ) be its variance function. Here, is the mean domain of andV, defined on , is the variance of . A problem of increasing interest in the literature is the following: Given an open interval and a functionV defined on , is the pair (V, ) a variance function of some natural exponential family? Here, we consider the case whereV is a polynomial. We develop a complex-analytic approach to this problem and provide necessary conditions for (V, ) to be such a variance function. These conditions are also sufficient for the class of third degree polynomials and certain subclasses of polynomials of higher degree.  相似文献

We study the regularity of the minimizer u for the functional F (u,f)=|u|2 + |u–f{2 over all maps uH 1(, S 2). We prove that for some suitable functions f every minimizer u is smooth in if 0 and for the same functions f, u has singularities when is large enough.

Summary Consider a stationary process {X n(), – < n < . If the measure of the process is finite (the measure of the whole sample space finite), it is well known that ergodicity of the process {X n(), - < n < and of each of the subprocesses {X n(), 0 n < , {X n(), – < n 0 are equivalent (see [3]). We shall show that this is generally not true for stationary processes with a sigma-finite measure, specifically for stationary irreducible transient Markov chains. An example of a stationary irreducible transient Markov chain {X n(), - < n <} with {itXn(), 0 n < < ergodic but {X n(), < n 0 nonergodic is given. That this can be the case has already been implicitly indicated in the literature [4]. Another example of a stationary irreducible transient Markov chain with both {X n(), 0 n < and {itX n(),-< < n 0} ergodic but {X n(), - < n < nonergodic is presented. For a bounded regular Jordan domain in R 2, we introduce and study a new class of functions K() related on its Green function G. We exploit the properties of this class to prove the existence and the uniqueness of a positive solution for the singular nonlinear elliptic equation u+(x,u)=0, in D(), with u=0 on and uC(), where is a nonnegative Borel measurable function in ×(0,) that belongs to a convex cone which contains, in particular, all functions (x,t)=q(x)t ,>0 with nonnegative functions qK(). Let G be a transitive permutation group on a set and m a positive integer. If | – | m for every subset of and all g G, then || 2mp/(p – 1) where p is the least odd prime dividing |G|. It was shown by Mann and Praeger [13] that, for p = 3, the 3-groups G which attain this bound have exponent p. A family of sequences has the Ramsey property if for every positive integerk, there exists a least positive integerf (k) such that for every 2-coloring of {1,2, ...,f (k)} there is a monochromatick-term member of . Landman and Long showed that for allm 2 and 1 q < m, q(m) does not have the Ramsey property, while q(m) A m does. We extend these results to various finite unions of q(m) 's andA t 's. We show that for allm 2, q=1 m–1 q(m) does not have the Ramsey property. We give necessary and sufficient conditions for collections of the form q(m) ( t T A t) to have the Ramsey property. We determine when collections of the form a(m1) b(m2) have the Ramsey property. We extend this to the study of arbitrary finite unions of q(m)'s. In this paper, we want to show the abundance of chaotic systems with absolutely continuous probability measures in the generic regular family with perturbable points. More precisely, we prove that iff a:I I, a P is a regular family satisfying some conditions described in the next section, then there exists a Borel set P of positive Lebesgue measure such that for everya ,f a admits an absolutely continuous invariant probability measure w.r.t. the Lebesgue measure. We consider generalized ruled surfaces in euclidean n-space n with k-dimensional generators and central ruled surface of dimension k–m+1 (O < m < k). Every orthogonal trajectoryy of the generators of defines a principal ruled surface y with generators totally orthogonal to the generators of . In each generator of y there exists an ellipsoid — called the indicatrix of the distribution parameters — which is defined by the distribution parameters of the tangent spaces to or y. Formulars will be given for the distribution parameters of and y .
