Polynomial representations of Boolean functions by binary terms are considered. The construction of terms involves variables and residual functions. Special cases of such representations are the decomposition of a function with respect to variables, Zhegalkin polynomials, and representations of functions as sums of conjunctions of residual functions.  相似文献

An innovative technique is developed for obtaining infinite product representations for some elementary functions. The technique is based on the comparison of alternative expressions of Green's functions constructed by two different methods. Some standard boundary value problems are considered posed for two-dimensional Laplace equation on regions of a regular configuration. Classical closed analytic form of Green's functions for such problems are compared against those obtained by the method of images in the form of infinite products. This yields a number of new infinite product representations for trigonometric and hyperbolic functions.  相似文献

We introduce hypergeometric functions related to projective Schur functions Q and describe their properties. Linear equations, integral representations, and Pfaffian representations are obtained. These hypergeometric functions are vacuum expectations of free fermion fields and are therefore tau functions of the so-called BKP hierarchy of integrable equations.  相似文献

Integral representations are considered of solutions of the inhomogeneous Airy differential equation . The solutions of these equations are also known as Scorer functions. Certain functional relations for these functions are used to confine the discussion to one function and to a certain sector in the complex plane. By using steepest descent methods from asymptotics, the standard integral representations of the Scorer functions are modified in order to obtain nonoscillating integrals for complex values of . In this way stable representations for numerical evaluations of the functions are obtained. The methods are illustrated with numerical results.

A new result for integrals involving the product of Bessel functions and Associated Laguerre polynomials is obtained in terms of the hypergeometric function. The usual tools for computing special functions are power series, asymptotic expansions, continued fractions, differential equations, recursions, and so on. Rather seldom are methods based on quadrature of integrals. Selecting suitable integral representations of special functions, using principles from asymptotic analysis, we develop reliable algorithms which are valid for large domains of real or complex parameters. Our present investigations include Airy functions, Bessel functions and parabolic cylinder functions. In the case of Airy functions we have improvements in both accuracy and speed for some parts of Amos's code for Bessel functions.  相似文献

This paper aims at presenting multiindices and multivariables study of the unified (or generalized) Voigt functions which play an important rôle in the several diverse field of physics such as astrophysical spectroscopy and the theory of neutron reactions. Some expressions (representations) of these functions are given in terms of familiar special functions of multivariables. ABSTRACT

Undergraduate students usually study Laurent series in a standard course of Complex Analysis. One of the major applications of Laurent series is the classification of isolated singular points of complex functions. Although students are able to find series representations of functions, they may struggle to understand the meaning of the behaviour of the function near isolated singularities. In this paper, I briefly describe the method of domain colouring to create enhanced phase portraits to visualize and study isolated singularities of complex functions. Ultimately this method for plotting complex functions might help to enhance students' insight, in the spirit of learning by experimentation. By analysing the representations of singularities and the behaviour of the functions near their singularities, students can make conjectures and test them mathematically, which can help to create significant connections between visual representations, algebraic calculations and abstract mathematical concepts.  相似文献

The irreducible -representations of the Lie algebra consist of discrete series representations, principal unitary series and complementary series. We calculate Racah coefficients for tensor product representations that consist of at least two discrete series representations. We use the explicit expressions for the Clebsch–Gordan coefficients as hypergeometric functions to find explicit expressions for the Racah coefficients. The Racah coefficients are Wilson polynomials and Wilson functions. This leads to natural interpretations of the Wilson function transforms. As an application several sum and integral identities are obtained involving Wilson polynomials and Wilson functions. We also compute Racah coefficients for , which turn out to be Askey–Wilson functions and Askey–Wilson polynomials.This research was done during my stay at the Department of Mathematics at Chalmers University of Technology and Göteborg University in Sweden, supported by a NWO-TALENT stipendium of the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO).  相似文献

Integral representations are considered of solutions of the Airy differential equation w zw=0 for computing Airy functions for complex values of z. In a first method contour integral representations of the Airy functions are written as non-oscillating integrals for obtaining stable representations, which are evaluated by the trapezoidal rule. In a second method an integral representation is evaluated by using generalized Gauss–Laguerre quadrature; this approach provides a fast method for computing Airy functions to a predetermined accuracy. Comparisons are made with well-known algorithms of Amos, designed for computing Bessel functions of complex argument. Several discrepancies with Amos' code are detected, and it is pointed out for which regions of the complex plane Amos' code is less accurate than the quadrature algorithms. Hints are given in order to build reliable software for complex Airy functions.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the scalar representation of vector optimization problems in close connection with monotonic functions. We show that it is possible to construct linear, convex, and quasiconvex representations for linear, convex, and quasiconvex vector problems, respectively. Moreover, for finding all the optimal solutions of a vector problem, it suffices to solve certain scalar representations only. The question of the continuous dependence of the solution set upon the initial vector problems and monotonic functions is also discussed.The author is grateful to the two referees for many valuable comments and suggestions which led to major imporvements of the paper.  相似文献

In the present paper, by using the Srivastava-Attiya operator, we define two new subclasses of k-fold symmetric analytic functions. We analyze the impact of imprecise parameters on performance of an uncertainty-modeling tool presented in this paper. In particular, we present a reliable and efficient uncertainty-modeling tool, which enables dynamic capturing of interval-valued clusters representations sets and functions using well-known pattern recognition and machine learning algorithms. We mainly deal with imprecise learning parameters in identifying uncertainty intervals of membership value distributions and imprecise functions. In the experiments, we use the proposed system as a decision support tool for a production line process. Simulation results indicate that in comparison to benchmark methods such as well-known type-1 and type-2 system modeling tools, and statistical machine-learning algorithms, proposed interval-valued imprecise system modeling tool is more robust with less error.  相似文献

The directional technology distance function is introduced, given an interpretation as a min-max, and compared with other functional representations of the technology including the Shephard input and output distance functions and the McFadden gauge function. A dual correspondence is developed between the directional technology distance function and the profit function, and it is shown that all previous dual correspondences are special cases of this correspondence. We then show how Nerlovian (profit-based) efficiency measures can be computed using the directional technology distance function.  相似文献
