Background

Mushrooms in the genus Agaricus have worldwide distribution and include the economically important species A. bisporus. Some Agaricus species are inedible, including A. placomyces and A. pseudopratensis, which are similar in appearance to certain edible species, yet are known to possess unpleasant odours and induce gastrointestinal problems if consumed. We have studied the chemical composition of these mushrooms using GC-MS.  相似文献

The effect exerted by modifying iron(III) chloride additive on the sorption and catalytic activity of granulated iron-containing peat composition in removal of oxalic acid was studied depending on the conditions of the solution treatment (ozone, UV radiation, and hydrogen peroxide). The conditions for virtually complete absorption of oxalic acid from model solutions were chosen.  相似文献

A comparative study was developed on the total fatty acids composition of twelve wild edible mushroom species (Suillus bellini, Suillus luteus, Suillus granulatus, Hygrophorus agathosmus, Amanita rubescens, Russula cyanoxantha, Boletus edulis, Tricholoma equestre, Fistulina hepatica, Cantharellus cibarius, Amanita caesarea and Hydnum rufescens). In order to define qualitative and quantitative profiles, combined fatty acids were hydrolyzed with potassium hydroxide/methanol and all free compounds were derived to their methyl ester forms with methanolic boron trifluoride, followed by analysis by GC-MS. Thirty fatty acids were determined. As far as we know, the fatty acid profiles of A. caesarea and H. rufescens are described for the first time. As for the remaining species, a high number of new compounds were identified, which much improved the knowledge about their fatty acids profiles. In general, oleic, linoleic, palmitic and stearic acids were present in highest contents. Polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fatty acids, valuable healthy compounds for humans, predominated over saturated fatty acids for all the studied mushroom species. R. cyanoxantha presented the highest fatty acids amounts, while B. edulis was the poorest species. By Agglomerative Hierarchic Cluster Analysis the studied species were gathered in 5 groups, based in their fatty acid patterns.  相似文献

Behavior of hydrogen peroxide in alkaline medium has been studied by direct current (DC) polarography with dropping mercury electrode (DME) aiming to apply it in antioxidant (AO) activity determination. Development of a peroxide anodic current having form of a peak, instead of common polarographic wave, has been investigated. As a base for this investigation the interaction of H2O2 with anodically dissolved mercury was followed. Formation of mercury complex [Hg(O2H)(OH)] has been confirmed. The relevant experimental conditions, such as temperature, concentration and pH dependence, as well as time stability of hydrogen peroxide anodic current, have been assessed. Development of an AO assay based on decrease of anodic current of hydrogen peroxide in the presence of antioxidants (AOs) has been described. Under optimized working conditions, a series of benzoic acids along with corresponding cinnamate analogues have been tested for hydrogen peroxide scavenging activity. In addition, the assay versatility has been confirmed on various complex samples.  相似文献

In this study, the chemical constituents of Campanula alliariifolia Willd. (Campanulaceae) are being investigated for the first time with the aid of this article. Five known compounds, which were quercetin-3-O-glucoside, quercetin-3-O-rutinoside, kaempferol-3-O-glucoside, lobetyolin (9-O-beta-D-glucopyranosyl-2,10-tetradecadien-4,6-diyne-8,14-diol) and lobetyol (2,10-tetradecadien-4,6-diyne-8,9,14-triol), were isolated from the methanol extract. The antioxidant activity of the methanol extract and the purified compounds of the plant was investigated with DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-picrilyhydrazyl) (free radical scavenging activity) and reducing power methods. The methanol extract has antioxidant capacity according to the mentioned methods. Lobetyol and lobetyolin showed significant antioxidant activity more than both methanol extract and other purified compounds.  相似文献

Since biological activity of medicinal plants is dependent on cultivation area, climatic conditions, developmental stage, genetic modifications and other factors, it is important to study flora present in different growing sites and geographical zones. This study was focused on screening of antioxidant activity of C. angustifolium harvested in six different locations in Lithuania. The total contents of phenolic compounds, flavonoids and 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging activity were evaluated by spectrophotometric methods. A correlation between radical scavenging activity and total phenolic compounds content was observed (correlation coefficient 0.98). HPLC with online post-column DPPH radical scavenging reaction detection was used for the separation of extracts. Oenothein B, rutin and one unidentified compound were predominant. Volatile compounds were analysed using solid-phase microextraction coupled with gas chromatography–mass spectrometry. Based on the analysis of volatiles, all samples were classified into two chemotypes: (I) with predominant α- and β-caryophyllenes and (II) with predominant anethole.  相似文献

This paper reveals, for the first time, the functional properties of propolis from an extreme region of Argentine (El Rincón, Province of Catamarca, Argentina), as well as the isolation and identification of bioactive compounds. The antioxidant activity was determined by the ABTS method and beta-carotene bleaching. The antibacterial activity was determined on methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) by the microdilution method and bioautographic assays. Twelve compounds were isolated and identified by NMR spectroscopy. The main bioactive compounds were 2',4'-dihydroxy-3'-methoxychalcone (3), 2',4'-dihydroxychalcone (9), 2',4',4-trihydroxy-6'- methoxychalcone (8), 5-hydroxy-4',7-dimethoxyflavone (4), 4',5-dihydroxy-3,7,8-trimethoxyflavone (10) and 7-hydroxy- 5,8-dimethoxyflavone (11). All compounds were active against clinical isolates (MIC50 10 microg/mL) and displayed antioxidant activity (SC50 values of 20 microg/mL). The MIC and SC50 values of the isolated compounds were lower than those obtained with crude propolis extracts, chloroform sub-extracts and isolated fractions.  相似文献

In this study, flowering aerial parts of wild Achillea millefolium growing on the Mediterranean coast (Sardinia Island, Italy) and on the Atlantic coast (Portugal- Serra de Montemuro) were used as a matrix for supercritical extraction of volatile oil with CO2 (SFE). The collected extracts were analyzed by GC-FID and GC-MS methods and their composition were compared with that of the essential oil isolated by hydrodistillation. A strong chemical variability in essential oils depending on the origin of the samples was observed. The results showed the presence of two type oils. The Italian volatile extracts (SFE and essential oil) are predominantly composed by alpha-asarone (25.6-33.3%, in the SFE extract and in the HD oil, respectively), beta-bisabolene (27.3-16.6%) and alpha-pinene (10.0-17.0%); whereas the main components of the Portuguese extracts are trans-thujone (31.4-29.0%), trans-crhysanthenyl acetate (19.8-15.8%) and beta-pinene (1.2-11.1%). The minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) and the minimal lethal concentration (MLC) were used to evaluate the antifungal activity of the oils against Candida albicans, C. tropicalis, C. krusei, C. guillermondii, C. parapsilosis, Cryptococcus neoformans, Trichophyton rubrum, T. mentagrophytes, T. mentagrophytes var. interdigitale, T. verrucosum, Microsporum canis, M. gypseum, Epidermophyton floccosum, Aspergillus niger, A. fumigatus and A. flavus. The oils showed the highest activity against dermatophyte strains, with MIC values ranging from 0.32-1.25 microL mL(-1).  相似文献

The aim of this study was to characterize aqueous and alcoholic extracts [30%, 50% and 70% (w/v)] obtained from medicinal herbs (Calendula officinalis, Hypericum perforatum, Galium verum, and Origanum vulgare) used in traditional medicine from our country. Samples were examined for total and individual content of phenolics and antioxidant activities. The highest content of total polyphenols (9.9 ± 0.02 mg gallic acid equivalents (GAE) L–1 extract) and antioxidant activities expressed as Trolox Equivalent Antioxidant Capacity [307.51 TEAC mmol g–1DW by the ABTS (2,2′-azinobis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) method and 20.90 TEAC mmol g–1 DW by the DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) method] was found in Origanum vulgare (50%) extract. Polyphenolic compounds were quantified using RP-HPLC.  相似文献

The effects of different concentrations of several volatile organic compounds (VOC) such as ethanol, acetate, propionate, and butyrate ranging from 0 to 2000 mg/L as well as a mixture of volatile fatty acids (MVFA) at a 4:1:1 (acetate:propionate:butyrate) ratio on the nitrification rate in batch cultures were studied. The results showed that ethanol and acetate were consumed in a mixotrophic way by the nitrifying sludge. At a concentration of 500 mg/L, the nitrification rate of inhibition was different for each compound in which propionate and butyrate were the most inhibitory. At 2000 mg/L the inhibition was 80% with ethanol and 100% with acetate, propionate, and butyrate. With similar concentrations of MVFA, the inhibition was also similar to that in acetate. The effect of the addition of pulses of MVFA at a ratio of 4:1:1 during 14 h on the performance of the continuous nitrifying process with a hydraulic retention time of 3 d was also studied. No inhibition of the nitrification process was observed with pulses of 750–3000 mg of MVFA/L in the input of the reactor. The results in batch cultures suggest that the different degrees of inhibition of the nitrification process were related to the type of organic matter added. The noninhibitory effect of the organic matter in the continuous cultures on the nitrification efficiency of the nitrifying sludge might be related to the feeding pattern.  相似文献

A porous carbon sorbent prepared by controlled pyrolysis of saccharose in a matrix of silica gel was tested for the preconcentration of a variety of compounds differing in polarity and volatility (hydrocarbons, halocarbons, oxygenated compounds) in simulated and real air samples. The trapped components were desorbed off-line by liquid-(carbon disulphide and carbon disulphide with 1% methanol) and on-line by thermo-desorption in combination with HRCGC. Adsorption-desorption properties of the sorbent were evaluated according to the determined recovery values, whereby physicochemical interactions of both the sorbent and solute were taken into consideration. With oxygenated compounds recovery data indicate the presence of active sites on the surface of the sorbent.Dedicated to Professor Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. J. F. K. The chemical composition and seasonal variation of the essential oil from the aerial parts of Plectranthus hadiensis grown during the rainy and summer seasons in the Western Ghats of India was analysed by GC–MS technique. The analysis of rainy season oil led to the identification of 31 compounds, representing 96.4% of the essential oil and the winter season oil led to 25 compounds, representing 95.1% of the oil. Most of the compounds were sesquiterpenes and oxygenated monoterpenes. The major components of the rainy season oil were L-fenchone (30.42%), β-farnesene (11.87%), copaene(11.10%), 2,3-dimethyl hydroquinone (10.78%), α-caryophyllene(8.41%) and piperitone oxide (3.94%) and of the summer season oil are L-fenchone (31.55%), copaene(11.93%), β-farnesene (10.45%), 1,8-naphthalenedione, 8a-ethylperhydro (10.06%), α-caryophyllene(6.36%), piperitone oxide (5.79%) and limonene(4.63%). Antibacterial activity of the essential oil of P. hadiensis was tested using zone of inhibition and minimum inhibition concentration methods. Both the oils inhibited the organisms and showed the zone of inhibition in the range of 20–35 mm with MIC values between 32 and 64 mg/dL.  相似文献

This study was designed to examine the effect of operating conditions on essential oil composition and antioxidant activity of coriander cakes. Twenty-nine components were determined in essential oils, which were mostly alcohol monoterpenes. The highest essential oil yields (0.11%) were obtained by the nozzle diameter of 5 mm. The main components of cake essential oil linalool, γ-terpinene, geranyl acetate, linalyl acetate and camphor showed significant variations with different nozzle diameter. The total phenol contents and condensed flavonoid contents varied between different nozzle diameters; the highest values obtained of small diameters (5 and 6 mm). Significant differences were also found in total tannin contents among different nozzle diameters. The total phenol contents decreased significantly (p < 0.05) when increased the nozzle diameter to 9 mm and reached 9.11 mg GAE/g.The screening of antioxidant activity of the different coriander cakes using the di(phenyl)-(2,4,6-trinitrophenyl) iminoazanium radical (DPPH) assay showed an appreciable reduction of the stable radical DPPH, although small nozzle diameter was the most efficient method with an IC50 reached of 55 μg/ml as compared with bigger diameter (IC50 = 88 μg/ml).All the extracts had lower β-carotene bleaching activity than that of synthetic antioxidant BHA and BHT. Coriander cake extracts presented a very low reducing power ability (EC50 ≈ 700 μg/ml) compared to ascorbic acid (EC50 = 40 μg/ml).  相似文献

A method for simultaneous determination of seven nonvolatile organic acids (NVOAs), five semivolatile organic acids (SVOAs), and twelve volatile organic acids (VOAs) in tobacco by synchronous SIM (Selected Ion Monitoring)-scan mode GC-MS was developed. The collection of NVOAs and SVOAs data was performed in full-scan mode, and that of VOAs data was carried out with SIM. Recoveries of NVOAs and SVOAs varied from 90.0 to 103.0%, and RSDs were less than 4.0%; recoveries of VOAs ranged from 89.5 to 99.3%, and their RSDs were less than 3.0%. Twelve tobacco samples were analyzed by the described method, and the results show that the method is applicable for the simultaneous determination of VOAs, NVOAs, and SVOAs in tobacco.  相似文献

This study was designed to examine the composition and in vitro antioxidant activity of the essential oil of Schisandra chinensis fruits. Gas chromatography/mass spectrometry was used to determine the composition of the essential oil. Forty components were identified, representing 90.80% of the oil; ylangene (37.72%), β-himachalene (10.46%) and α-bergamotene (8.57%) were the main components. Antioxidant and radical-scavenging properties were evaluated by means of 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assay and β-carotene bleaching assay. In the DPPH assay, IC(50) value of the S. chinensis essential oil was determined as 4.17 mg mL(-1). In the β-carotene bleaching assay, the essential oil (1.0 mg mL(-1)) exhibited 25.89% inhibition against linoleic acid oxidation. In both systems, antioxidant capacity of butylated hydroxytoluene was also determined in parallel experiments.  相似文献

A method for the accurate determination of volatile organic compounds (VOC) in milk samples has been developed and tested. It combines multiple dynamic headspace extraction with GC-MS. Absolute amounts of VOC in the liquid phase are obtained by determining the first order kinetic dependence of the stepwise extraction of the analytes and internal standards from the liquid matrix. Compounds released from milk were collected on a train of traps filled with different solid sorbents to cover all components having a number of carbon atoms ranging from 4 to 15. They were analysed by GC-MS after thermal desorption of VOC from the collecting traps. Quantification of VOC in milk was performed using deuterated compounds as internal standards. The method was used to follow seasonal variations of monoterpenes in goat milk and to detect the impact of air pollution on the quality of milk.  相似文献
