The spectra of coupled magnetoelastic waves of a biaxial non-Heisenberg ferromagnetic in an external magnetic field have been investigated. It is shown that in such systems there are phase transitions taking place through the changing of the magnitude of the magnetization vector. However, these transitions run through a weak quasiphonon mode. The phase diagrams of the system are constructed for different relations between material constants.  相似文献

Concentration-driven reorientation phase transitions in ultrathin magnetic films of FeCo alloy have been studied. It is established that, in addition to the easy-axis and easy-plane phases, a spatially inhomogeneous phase (domain structure), a canted phase, and also an “in-plane easy-axis” phase can exist in the system. The realization of the last phase is associated with the competition between the single-ion anisotropy and the magnetoelastic interaction. The critical values of Co concentration corresponding to the phase transitions are evaluated, the types of phase transitions are determined, and the phase diagrams are constructed.  相似文献

The phase states of the 2D non-Heisenberg ferromagnetic with anisotropic bilinear and biquadratic exchange interactions are investigated. The limiting cases of the system under consideration are the two-dimensional XY-model with biquadratic exchange interaction and the isotropic Heisenberg ferromagnetic. The account of the magnetic dipole interaction leads to the realization of spatially inhomogeneous quadrupolar phase. The stability regions of various phase transitions for different values of the material parameters are studied. The phase diagram is built. Besides, the temperature phase transitions are investigated. The influence of the magnetoelastic interaction on the formation of the long-range quadrupolar order is determined.  相似文献

The phase states of a two-dimensional ferromagnet system with anisotropic exchange interaction have been investigated for various relations between the material constants. It is shown that the competition between the exchange and the one-ion anisotropies, and the account of the magnetodipolar and the magnetoelastic interactions lead to the sequence of the phase transitions. The explicit solutions of the dispersion equation have been found in the homogeneous phase states.  相似文献

The reorientation phase transitions occurring in FeCo alloy monolayers have been investigated as a function of the cobalt concentration with inclusion of the magnetodipole and magnetoelastic interactions. The kinetic values of the cobalt concentration corresponding to the phase transition points have been determined and the phase diagram of the system under investigation has been constructed.  相似文献

The phase states of a non-Heisenberg two-dimensional ferromagnet are studied, in which the long-range magnetic order is stabilized by the magnetoelastic interaction. It is shown that in this system, together with the phases of nonzero magnetic order, there exists a quadrupolar phase characterized by a tensor order parameter at zero external field. The transition temperature from the quadrupolar phase to the paramagnetic phase is determined.Received: 24 November 2003, Published online: 18 June 2004PACS: 75.10.-b General theory and models of magnetic ordering - 75.30.Kz Magnetic phase boundaries (including magnetic transitions, metamagnetism, etc.)  相似文献

A model of magnetic and magnetoelastic properties of intermetallic compounds has been considered with the inclusion of the influence of the “giant” magnetoelastic coupling and the biquadratic exchange interaction. The phase transitions as a function of material constants and temperature have been investigated in the framework of the proposed model. It has been demonstrated that the ferromagnetic and quadrupole phases can be formed in the system under consideration. In this case, the phase transition between these phases is a first-order transition and occurs through the intermediate, i.e., quadrupole-ferromagnetic, state. The dependences of the phase transition temperature on the Heisenberg and biquadratic exchange interaction constants have been obtained for compounds of the terfenol-D type.  相似文献

Complex studies of the magnetic, magnetoelectric, and magnetoelastic properties of GdMn2O5 single crystals in strong pulsed magnetic fields are carried out in order to obtain additional indirect information on the character of the rare-earth and manganese spin ordering. It is shown that magnetic ordering of Gd3+ spins affects the manganese sublattice spin orientation and initiates new magnetic phase transitions. The observed magnetoelectric properties of the GdMn2O5 system are interpreted in terms of the theory of phase transitions.  相似文献

在10—800K的温度范围内用X射线衍射方法测量了RMn2Ge2(R=La,Pr ,Nd,Sm,Gd,Tb和Y)的晶格常数与温度的变化关系.

A study is reported on phase transitions in the La1?x SrxMnO3 system, both spontaneous and induced by a pulsed magnetic field of up to 250 kOe, accompanied by anomalies in magnetoelastic properties. The temperatures of the polaron (charge) and magnetic ordering, as well as those of structural transitions, are observed to be in good agreement with the results obtained by other methods. Jumps in the field dependence of longitudinal and transverse magnetostriction associated with field-induced orbital ordering have been found. A strong temperature dependence of the corresponding threshold fields is observed.  相似文献

Magnetoelectric interactions have been investigated in a single crystal of gadolinium iron borate GdFe3(BO3)4, whose macroscopic symmetry is characterized by the crystal class 32. Using the results of this study, the interplay of magnetic and electric orderings occurring in the system has been experimentally revealed and theoretically substantiated. The electric polarization and magnetostriction of this material that arise in spin-reorientation transitions induced by a magnetic field have been investigated experimentally. For Hc and Hc, H-T phase diagrams have been constructed, and a strict correlation between the changes in the magnetoelectric and magnetoelastic properties in the observed phase transitions has been ascertained. A mechanism of specific noncollinear antiferroelectric ordering at the structural phase transition point was proposed to interpret the magnetoelectric behavior of the system within the framework of the symmetry approach in the entire temperature range. This ordering provides the conservation of the crystal class of the system when the temperature decreases to the antiferroelectric ordering point. The expressions that have been obtained for the magnetoelectric and magnetoelastic energy describe reasonably well the behavior of gadolinium iron borate observed experimentally.  相似文献

The exchange striction model is invoked to derive an expression for the entropy of ferromagnetic materials undergoing first- and second-order magnetic phase transitions. The magnetocaloric and barocaloric effects are calculated for the ferromagnet La(Fe0.88Si0.12)13 undergoing a first-order phase transition. The calculated results are in fair agreement with experimental data. The ferromagnet La(Fe0.88Si0.12)13 is used as an example to predict the changes in magnetic and magnetocaloric properties associated with gradual increase in the magnetoelastic coupling constant (i.e., with passage from first- to second-order magnetic transition region). It is shown that stronger magnetoelastic coupling leads to stronger magnetocaloric effects and changes their dependence on magnetic field and pressure. Expressions are obtained for the maximum field- and pressure-induced entropy changes. An analysis is presented of the mechanism responsible for the increase in magnetocaloric and barocaloric effects associated with change from the second- to first-order magnetic phase transition.  相似文献

Concentration-induced reorientation phase transitions in thin magnetic films of FeCo alloys have been investigated taking into account “planar” or “bulk” magnetoelastic interaction. The critical concentrations of Co corresponding to the phase transition points, as well as the types of the phase transitions, have been determined. The phase diagrams have been plotted.  相似文献

This review discusses the theoretical aspects of magnetoelastic coupling with emphasis on the magnetic perturbation of elastic properties. The basic theory of magnetostriction is set out with application to ferromagnets, ferrimagnets and antiferromagnets, and is followed by a discussion of the physical origin of the magnetoelastic coupling coefficients in both localized and itinerant magnetic systems. Magnetic contributions to elastic compliance are then discussed and sound velocity anomalies near magnetic phase transitions investigated, including the cooperative Jahn-Teller limit for which the acoustic mode itself drives a structural transition even when magnetic ordering does not occur. The review concludes with discussion of magnetoelastic (or mixed magnon-phonon) waves in low temperature magnetically ordered phases and with a study of local striction phenomena in magnetically dilute materials. The latter leads to a recognition of internal rearrangement modes which may also be present in concentrated magnetic systems, and which may or may not couple significantly to bulk homogenous strain.  相似文献

In the framework of the Landau theory of phase transitions, the influence of the magnetoelastic interaction on structural transitions in cubic ferromagnetics with a positive first magnetic anisotropy constant is analyzed. It is shown that structural transitions are not accompanied by a reorientation of magnetization in this case. The phase diagrams of such ferromagnetics either contain a termination point of the structural transition or a critical point in which the first-order transition is replaced by a second-order one. Magnetoelastic interaction also leads to the appearance of an interval of the ferromagnetic parameters in which a coupled first-order structural-magnetic transition exists. The phase T?x diagram for Heusler Ni2+x Mn1?x Ga alloys is calculated, which is in good agreement with the experimental phase diagram of these alloys.  相似文献

The antiferromagnet GdAg2 has been shown to be a good model system for the magnetoelastic paradox (MEP), because it exhibits large symmetry conserving magnetoelastic strains and the antiferromagnetic propagation vector breaks the tetragonal lattice symmetry (therefore a large symmetry breaking magnetoelastic strain can be expected in a single magnetic structure). As in many similar Gd based compounds no symmetry breaking strain has been found in the experiment. In order to investigate this MEP further, we have measured magnetostriction and magnetization on a textured polycrystal. The behaviour closely resembles that of GdNi2B2C, the prototype system for the magnetoelastic paradox (MEP). Our forced magnetostriction data indicate that the crystal distorts in applied magnetic field and gives further evidence that the MEP is a low field effect. The observed phase transitions are in agreement with available specific heat and neutron diffraction data. Moreover, the saturation magnetic field was measured in high pulsed magnetic fields and agrees well with the value calculated from the Standard Model of Rare Earth Magnetism (SMREM).  相似文献

Magnetic, magnetoelastic, and magnetotransport properties have been studied for the RMn2Si2 and RMn6Sn6 (R is a rare earth metal) intermetallic compounds with natural layered structure. The compounds exhibit wide variety of magnetic structures and magnetic phase transitions. Substitution of different R atoms allows us to modify the interatomic distances and interlayer exchange interactions thus providing the transition from antiferromagnetic to ferromagnetic state. Near the boundary of this transition the magnetic structures are very sensitive to the external field, temperature and pressure. The field-induced transitions are accompanied by considerable change in the sample size and resistivity. It has been shown that various magnetic structures and magnetic phase transitions observed in the layered compounds arise as a result of competition of the Mn–Mn and Mn–R exchange interactions.  相似文献

Complex magnetic, magnetoelectric and magnetoelastic studies of spontaneous and field-induced phase transitions in TmMn2O5 were carried out. In the vicinity of spontaneous phase transition temperatures (35 and 25 K) the magnetoelectric and magnetoelastic dependences demonstrated the jumps of polarization and magnetostriction induced by the field ∼150 kOe. These anomalies can be attributed to the influence of magnetic field on the conditions of incommensurate-commensurate phase transition at 35 K and the reverse one at 25 K. In b-axis dependences the magnetic field-induced spin-reorientation phase transition was also observed below 20 K. Finally the magnetoelectric anomaly associated with metamagnetic transition is observed below the temperature of rare-earth subsystem ordering at relatively small critical fields of 5 kOe. This variety of spontaneous and induced phase transitions in RMn2O5 stems from the interplay of three magnetic subsystems: Mn3+, Mn4+, R3+. The comparison with YMn2O5 highlights the role of rare earth in low-temperature region (metamagnetic and spin-reorientation phase transitions), while the phase transition at higher temperatures between incommensurate and commensurate phases should be ascribed to the different temperature dependences of Mn3+ and Mn4+ ions. The strong correlation of magnetoelastic and magnetoelectric properties observed in the whole class of RMn2O5 highlights their multiferroic nature.  相似文献

In the present study, propagation of magnetoelastic shear wave due to a momentary point source in a viscoelastic crustal layer over inhomogeneous viscoelastic half space has been discussed. Green’s function technique and Fourier transform along with method of successive approximation are used to find the closed-form solutions for displacement and generalized shear wave period equation. Attenuation of the resultant shear wave is computed and effects of magnetic field, width of the layer, complex wave number, viscosity, and inhomogeneity parameters are distinctly marked on dissipation curves using two-dimensional and surface plots. It is found that effect of layer’s magnetoelastic coupling parameter on attenuation pattern of shear wave is just the reverse of half space magnetoelastic coupling parameter. Similarly, internal friction of layer has somewhat different effect on shear wave angular frequency than lower half space viscosity. Certain published results are also derived as special cases to the present study.  相似文献
