In quantum gauge theory of gravity, the gravitational field is represented by gravitational gauge field. The field strength of gravitational gauge field has both gravitoelectric component and gravitomagnetic component. In classical level, gauge theory of gravity gives classical Newtonian gravitational interactions in a relativistic form. Besides, it gives gravitational Lorentz force, which is the gravitational force on a moving object in gravitomagnetic field. The direction of gravitational Lorentz force is not the same as that of classical gravitational Newtonian force. Effects of gravitational Lorentz force should be detectable, and these effects can be used to discriminate gravitomagnetic field from ordinary electromagnetic magnetic field.  相似文献

The possibility of using gravitational lenses to test gravitational theories is discussed. Relations for gravity ray deflection, rotation of polarization, and shift of the signal arrival time are derived by means of a parametrized post-newtonian formalism for small-sized massive objects.  相似文献

The ergodic properties of many-body systems with repulsive-core interactions are the basis of classical statistical mechanics and are well established. This is not the case for systems of purely-attractive or gravitational particles. Here we consider two examples, (i) a family of one-dimensional systems with attractive power-law interactions, , and (ii) a system of N gravitating particles confined to a finite compact domain. For (i) we deduce from the numerically-computed Lyapunov spectra that chaos, measured by the maximum Lyapunov exponent or by the Kolmogorov–Sinai entropy, increases linearly for positive and negative deviations of ν from the case of a non-chaotic harmonic chain (ν = 2). For there is numerical evidence for two additional hitherto unknown phase-space constraints. For the theoretical interpretation of model (ii) we assume ergodicity and show that for a small-enough system the reduction of the allowed phase space due to any other conserved quantity, in addition to the total energy, renders the system asymptotically stable. Without this additional dynamical constraint the particle collapse would continue forever. These predictions are supported by computer simulations. In this paper, we investigated the cylindrical gravitational collapse with heat flux by considering the appropriate geometry of the interior and exterior spacetimes. For this purpose, we matched collapsing fluid to an exterior containing gravitational waves. The effects of heat flux on gravitational collapse are investigated and matched with the results obtained by Herrera and Santos (Class. Quantum Gravity 22:2407, 2005).  相似文献

The path-integral approach to quantum field theory assigns special importance to finite action Euclidean solutions of classical field equations. In Yang-Mills gauge theories, the instanton solutions of classical field equations with self-dual field strength have given rise to a new, nonperturbative treatment of the quantum field theory and its vacuum state. Since gravitation is also a species of gauge theory, one might think that similar phenomena would occur in gravity. The authors recently sought and found a new self-dual solution to Euclidean gravity which plays a role parallel to that of the Yang-Mills instanton. Gravitational instantons now promise to yield new insights into the nature of quantum gravity. This essay received the second award from the Gravity Research Foundation for the year 1979-Ed.  相似文献

We present a new family of self-dual positive definite metrics which are asymptotic to Euclidean space modulo identifications under discrete subgroups of O(4). these solutions contain 3τ ? 3 parameters where τ is the signature. We show that a fully general self-dual solution with these boundary conditions should have this number of parameters.  相似文献

It is shown that in certain parity-violating theories in 4k+2 dimensions, general covariance is spoiled by anomalies at the one-loop level. This occurs when Weyl fermions of spin-12or-32 or self-dual antisymmetric tensor fields are coupled to gravity. (For Dirac fermions there is no trouble.) The conditions for anomaly cancellation between fields of different spin is investigated. In six dimensions this occurs in certain theories with a fairly elaborate field content. In ten dimensions there is a unique theory with anomaly cancellation between fields of different spin. It is the chiral n = 2 supergravity theory, which is the low-energy limit of one of the superstring theories. Beyond ten dimensions there is no way to cancel anomalies between fields of different spin.  相似文献

We show that a gravitational interaction between the derivative of the Ricci scalar curvature and the baryon-number current dynamically breaks CPT in an expanding Universe and, combined with baryon-number-violating interactions, can drive the Universe towards an equilibrium baryon asymmetry that is observationally acceptable.  相似文献

The effective action for fermions moving in external gravitational and gauge fields is analyzed in terms of the corresponding external field propagator. The central object in our approach is the covariant energy-momentum tensor which is extracted from the regular part of the propagator at short distances. It is shown that the Lorentz anomaly, the conformal anomaly and the gauge anomaly can be expressed in terms of the local polynomials which determine the singular part of the propagator. (There are no coordinate anomalies.) Except for the conformal anomaly, for which we give explicit representations only ind<=4, we consider an arbitrary number of dimensions.  相似文献
