This paper analyses the dispersion relation of the excitation mode in non-relativistic interacting fermion matter. The polarization tensor is calculated with the random phase approximation in terms of finite temperature field theory. With the polarization tensor, the influences of temperature, particle number density and interaction strength on the dispersion relation are discussed in detail. It finds that the collective effects are qualitatively more important in the unitary fermions than those in the finite contact interaction matter.  相似文献

On the basis of the beam tensor formalism proposed by F. I. Fedorov, the theory of polarization selfaction of radiation in isotropic resonant media is extended to the case of partial elliptic polarization of an electromagnetic wave. The influence of the degree of radiation polarization on the known polarization self-action effects is demonstrated and the self-polarization (depolarization) of light is predicted.  相似文献

We consider stationary electromagnetic fields modeled as superpositions of unpolarized and angularly uncorrelated plane waves and show that in anisotropic case the electric cross-spectral tensor is proportional to the imaginary part of the Green tensor. This is as for blackbody radiation, but here the field need not be in thermal equilibrium. We also evaluate the degree of polarization for a homogeneous but nonisotropic field for which the plane waves propagate within a cone of angles. The results are compared with the known polarization properties of blackbody radiation.  相似文献

We investigate the photon polarization tensor at finite temperatures in the presence of a static and homogeneous external magnetic field. In our scheme, the summing of the Matsubara frequency is performed after Poisson resummation, which is easily completed and converges quickly. Moreover, the behaviors of finite Landau levels are presented explicitly. It shows a convergence while summing infinite Landau levels. Consequently, there is no necessity to truncate the Landau level in a numerical estimation. At zero temperature, the lowest Landau level (LLL) approximation is analytically satisfied for the vacuum photon polarization tensor. However, we examine that the LLL approximation is not enough for the thermal polarization tensor. The thermal tensor obtains non-trivial contributions from the finite-n Landau levels. And, photon spectra gains a large imaginary contribution in thermal medium, which is the so-called Landau damping. Finally, it is argued that the summation of Matsubara frequency is not commuted with Landau level ones, such conjecture is excluded in our calculations.  相似文献

Model-independent QED radiative corrections to polarization observables in the elastic scattering of unpolarized and longitudinally polarized electron beam by a deuteron target are calculated. Two experimental setups are considered: the deuteron target is arbitrarily polarized, or the vector and/or tensor polarization of the recoil deuteron is measured. The calculations are based on taking all essential Feynman diagrams into account and using the covariant parametrization of the deuteron polarization state. The radiative corrections are calculated for the hadronic variables using invariant integration of the leptonic tensor. Numerical estimates of the radiative corrections to the polarization observables are made for various values of the kinematical vari-ables.  相似文献

A detailed analysis is made of the pair,ρπγ-currents, retardation effects and six-quark admixtures to the charge, quadrupole form factors and to the deuteron polarization. It is shown that the elasticeD-scattering cross section allowing for the meson exchange currents can be described by introducing a six-quark admixture with probability 3.5%. It is predicted that the behaviour of the deuteron polarization tensor at q>4 fm?1 essentially depends on 6q-admixture.  相似文献

A theoretical and experimental study is made into the combined manifestation of local and nonlocal optical responses in a cubic nonlinear isotropic medium such as an aggregated colloidal silver solution. The phenomenological treatment of polarization effects is performed for the general case with due regard for the frequency dispersion of both local and nonlocal nonlinearities and for the noncollinear propagation of pump and probe light waves. The inverse Faraday effect, the optical Kerr effect, and the self-rotation of the polarization ellipse in a fractal-disordered nonlinear medium are observed for the first time. The tensor components of the local and nonlocal cubic nonlinearities of colloidal silver solutions are measured for different degrees of aggregation. It is demonstrated that, as the size of silver aggregate increases, the nonlocal nonlinear response increases much more strongly than the local one. An inference is made that the mechanical motion of metal nanoparticles because of their dynamic interaction with the light wave field can contribute to the nonlinear polarization effects.  相似文献

We develop the theory of interaction of the electromagnetic field and a single atom being in an arbitrary state and having an arbitrary direction of the angular momentum of the atomic electron with respect to the direction of the field polarization vector. It is shown that the atom response current has a tensor structure and depends on both the direction of the angular momentum of the atom, and the polarization vector of the external field. The tensor character of the response is determined by the externally induced anisotropic distribution of the probability density of spatial localization of the atomic electron. It is shown that the induced-anisotropy effects clarify the harmonic generation mechanism at play during the non-resonance interaction of laser radiation with atomic media. The developed theory is applied to the analysis of the problem about the generation of terahertz waves in a two-color laser field. It is shown that the change in the mutual orientation of wave polarization vectors leads to a significant increase in the efficiency of conversion of high-frequency fields to low-frequency ones. It is shown for the first time that the generation of terahertz waves is possible in the preionization regime, when the generation mechanism is related to atomic nonlinearity.  相似文献

A theory of the nonresonant response of a single atom in a state with arbitrary magnitude and direction of the angular momentum of an atomic electron with respect to the polarization vector of the acting electromagnetic field has been developed. It has been shown that the atomic response current has a tensor structure and depends both on the direction of the angular momentum of the atom and on the polarization vector of the external field. The tensor character of the response is due to the effects of the anisotropy of probability density distribution of the atomic electron as compared to the case of the free atom. The selection rules for the axisymmetric problem of the atom in the field have been analyzed. The manifestation of the selection rules in the angular spectra of photoelectrons has been demonstrated. The probability of the ionization of the atom has been analyzed as a function of the amplitude and duration of the pulse. It has been shown that the width of the generation spectrum is a nonlinear function of the field strength and is saturated in the region of nearly atomic fields. Methods for controlling the parameters of the atomic response spectrum have been proposed on the basis of the use of a sequence of laser pulses with various time profiles, carrier frequencies, and polarization states. It has been shown that the generation of terahertz radiation is possible in the preionization regime, where the generation mechanism is attributed to atomic nonlinearity.  相似文献

We introduce a new formalism to describe the polarization signal of galaxy clusters on the whole sky. We show that a sparsely sampled, half-sky map of the cluster polarization at z approximately 1 would allow us to better characterize the very large scale density fluctuations. While the horizon length is smaller in the past, two other competing effects significantly remove the contribution of the small scale fluctuations from the quadrupole polarization pattern at z approximately 1. For the standard LambdaCDM universe with vanishing tensor mode, the quadrupole moment of the temperature anisotropy at z = 0 is expected to have an approximately 32% contribution from fluctuations on scales below 6.3 h(-1) Gpc. This percentage would be reduced to approximately 2% level for the quadrupole moment of polarization pattern at z approximately 1. A cluster polarization would shed light on the potentially anomalous features of the largest scale fluctuations.  相似文献

Since Metasurfaces are playing important roles in optical devices such as optical polarizers and detectors, in this article, we have proposed a novel shape of nano aperture antenna for mid-infrared applications such as bio-sensing and other potential optical applications based on plasmonic characteristic of the gold layer over the SiN substrate. The transmittance tensor is obtained for vertical and horizontal linear polarization and base on boundary condition of the metasurface, the circular polarizations are extracted which are confirmed by the electric field distributions. We have shown by the parametric studies that the phase difference is altered by the gap and slot width and so with the dimension modification, we are able to achieve circular polarizer in the optical range. The biological materials with a thickness of 80 nm have then been placed over the metasurface layer and the figures of merits have been obtained. We have revealed that when the circular polarization is osculated to the metasurface at a special frequency the linear polarization is obtained in the other side of the metasurface. The nano aperture has been modeled and the finite difference time domain calculations are performed in CST Microwave Studio as a commercial full wave simulation software.  相似文献

General relations describing the spin dynamics of beams of nuclei with initial tensor and vector polarizations have been derived upon planar channeling in bent crystals. The performed analysis indicates that the vector polarization effect predicted by Baryshevsky and Sokolsky can be detected, occurring upon the planar channeling of a beam of nuclei with initial tensor polarization. The planar channeling of a beam of nuclei with initial tensor and vector polarizations can be used to determine the quadrupole moments of unstable nuclei with small lifetimes, up to 10−7 s. The quadrupole moments of nuclei with lifetimes of about 10−7 s cannot be measured via known methods, including optical methods.  相似文献

A canonical relativistic formulation is introduced to quantize electromagnetic field in the presence of a polarizable and magnetizable moving medium. The medium is modeled by a continuum of the second rank antisymmetric tensors in a phenomenological way. The covariant wave equation for the vector potential and the covariant constitutive equation of the medium are obtained as the Euler-Lagrange equations using the Lagrangian of the total system. A fourth rank tensor which couples the electromagnetic field and the medium is introduced. The susceptibility tensor of the medium is obtained in terms of this coupling tensor. The noise polarization tensor is calculated in terms of both the coupling tensor and the ladder operators of the tensors modeling the medium.  相似文献

We calculate the modification of the effective interaction of particles on the Fermi surface due to polarization contributions, with particular attention to spin-dependent forces. In addition to the standard spin-spin, tensor, and spin-orbit forces, spin nonconserving effective interactions are induced by screening in the particle-hole channels. Furthermore, a novel long-wavelength tensor force is generated. We compute the polarization contributions to second order in the low-momentum interaction V(low k) and find that the medium-induced spin-orbit interaction leads to a reduction of the 3P2 pairing gap for neutrons in the interior of neutron stars.  相似文献

It was previously shown that the tensor magnetic polarizability of the deuteron causes the spin rotation with two frequencies and experiences beating for polarized deuteron beams in storage rings. We confirm an existence of this effect and derive general formulae describing deuteron spin dynamics. It is found that an initially tensor polarized deuteron beam can acquire a final horizontal vector polarization of order of 1%. This effect allows to measure the tensor magnetic polarizability of the deuteron in storage ring experiments.  相似文献

As initial data, optical polarization tomography of tensor and vector fields uses ray integrals the values of which are determined from polarization measurements. Most algorithms of integrated photoelasticity are based on the linear approximation of the solution of the birefringence equations. In this work, the approximation of smooth rotation of quasi-principal axes of the polarization tensor is proposed for use in approximating values of ray integrals.  相似文献
