The Biham-Middleton-Levine (BML) model is simple lattice model of traffic flow, self-organization and jamming. Rather than a sharp phase transition between free-flow and jammed, it was recently shown that there is a region where stable intermediate states exist, with details dependent on the aspect ratio of the underlying lattice. Here we investigate square aspect ratios, focusing on the region where random, disordered intermediate (DI) states and conventional global jam (GJ) states coexist, and show that DI states dominate for some densities and timescales. Moreover, we show that periodic intermediate (PI) states can also coexist. PI states converge to periodic limit cycles with short recurrence times and were previously conjectured to arise from idiosyncrasies of relatively prime aspect ratios. The observed coexistence of DI, PI and GJ states shows that global parameters, density together with aspect ratio, are not sufficient to determine the full jamming outcome. We investigate additional features that lead towards jamming and show that a strategic perturbation of a few selected bits can change the nature of the flow, nucleating a global jam.  相似文献

A modified two-dimensional lattice hydrodynamic traffic flow model is proposed by incorporating the optimal current difference effect of leading vehicles. Phase transitions and critical phenomenon are investigated near the critical point both analytically and numerically. Based on the configuration of vehicles, it is shown that two distinct jamming transitions occur: conventional jamming transition to the kink jam and jamming transition to the chaotic jam. It is shown that consideration of optimal current difference effect stabilizes the traffic flow and suppresses the traffic jam efficiently for all possible configurations of vehicles on a square lattice.  相似文献

We study the traffic states and jamming transitions induced by a bus (slow car) in a two-lane traffic of cars. We use the dynamic model which is an extended one of the optimal velocity model to take into account the lane changing. The fundamental (flow-density) diagram is presented. The fundamental diagram changes highly by introducing a bus on a two-lane roadway. It is found that there are the six distinct states for the two-lane traffic flow including a bus. The spatio-temporal patterns are presented for the distinct traffic states. The dynamical state of traffic changes with density of cars. It is shown that the dynamical transitions among the distinct traffic states occur at some values of density. This paper proposes two lattice traffic models by taking into account the drivers' delay in response. The lattice versions of the hydrodynamic model are described by the differential-difference equation and difference-difference equation, respectively. The stability conditions for the two models are obtained by using the linear stability theory. The modified KdV equation near the critical point is derived to describe the traffic jam by using the reductive perturbation method, and the kink--antikink soliton solutions related to the traffic density waves are obtained. The results show that the drivers' delay in sensing headway plays an important role in jamming transition.  相似文献

在一维交通流格子模型的基础上,分别提出考虑最近邻车和次近邻车以及考虑前、后近邻车相互作用进行车流优化的一维交通流格子模型.应用线性稳定性理论和非线性理论进行分析,得出车流的稳定性条件,并导出了描述交通阻塞相变的mKdV方程.用数值模拟验证了mKdV方程的解,数值模拟结果表明考虑最近邻车和次近邻车的优化车流能够增强车流稳定性,而考虑前、后近邻车的优化车流将使稳定性减小. 关键词: 交通流 交通相变 稳定判据 mKdV方程  相似文献

It is suggested that the question of existence of a jamming phase transition in a broad class of single-lane cellular-automaton traffic models may be studied using a correspondence to the asymmetric chipping model. In models where such correspondence is applicable, jamming phase transition does not take place. Rather, the system exhibits a smooth crossover between free-flow and jammed states, as the car density is increased.  相似文献

The one-dimensional deterministic economic model recently studied by González-Estévez et al. [J. González-Estévez, M.G. Cosenza, R. López-Ruiz, J.R. Sanchez, Physica A 387 (2008) 4637] is considered on a two-dimensional square lattice with periodic boundary conditions. In this model, the evolution of each agent is described by a map coupled with its nearest neighbors. The map has two factors: a linear term that accounts for the agent’s own tendency to grow and an exponential term that saturates this growth through the control effect of the environment. The regions in the parameter space where the system displays Pareto and Boltzmann-Gibbs statistics are calculated for the cases of the von Neumann and the Moore neighborhood. It is found that, even when the parameters in the system are kept fixed, a transition from Pareto to Boltzmann-Gibbs behavior can occur when the number of neighbors of each agent increases.  相似文献

We study the fundamental diagram for traffic flow of vehicular mixture on a multi-lane highway. We present the car-following model of multi-lane traffic in which slow and fast vehicles flow with changing lanes. We investigate the traffic states of the vehicular mixture under the periodic boundary. Two values of the current appear at a density and two current curves are obtained. Vehicles move with changing lanes in the traffic state of high current, while vehicles move without changing lanes in the traffic state of low current. They depend on the density, the fraction of slow vehicles, and the initial condition. In the high-current curve, the jamming transition between the free flow and the jammed state occurs at a low density. The fundamental diagrams (current-density diagrams) are shown for the single-lane, two-lane, three-lane, and four-lane traffics.  相似文献

We show that the transition from laminar to active behavior in extended chaotic systems can vary from a continuous transition in the universality class of directed percolation with infinitely many absorbing states to what appears as a first-order transition. The latter occurs when finite lifetime nonchaotic structures, called "solitons," dominate the dynamics. We illustrate this scenario in an extension of the deterministic Chaté-Manneville coupled map lattice model and in a soliton including variant of the stochastic Domany-Kinzel cellular automaton.  相似文献

本文研究了耦合不连续系统的同步转换过程中的动力学行为, 发现由混沌非同步到混沌同步的转换过程中特殊的多吸引子共存现象. 通过计算耦合不连续系统的同步序参量和最大李雅普诺夫指数随耦合强度的变化, 发现了较复杂的同步转换过程: 临界耦合强度之后出现周期非同步态(周期性窗口); 分析了系统周期态的迭代轨道,发现其具有两类不同的迭代轨道: 对称周期轨道和非对称周期轨道, 这两类周期吸引子和同步吸引子同时存在, 系统表现出对初值敏感的多吸引子共存现象. 分析表明, 耦合不连续系统中的周期轨道是由于局部动力学的不连续特性和耦合动力学相互作用的结果. 最后, 对耦合不连续系统的同步转换过程进行了详细的分析, 结果表明其同步呈现出较复杂的转换过程.  相似文献

This paper proposes a modified lattice gas model to simulate pedestrian counter flow by considering the effect of following strength which can lead to appropriate responses to some complicated situations.Periodic and open boundary conditions are adopted respectively.The simulation results show that the presented model can reproduce some essential features of pedestrian counter flows,e.g.,the lane formation and segregation effect.The fundamental diagrams show that the complete jamming density is independent of the system size only when the width W and the length L are larger than some critical values respectively,and the larger asymmetrical conditions can better avoid the occurrence of deadlock phenomena.For the mixed pedestrian flow,it can be found that the jamming cluster is mainly caused by those walkers breaking the traffic rules,and the underlying mechanism is analysed.Furthermore,the comparison of simulation results and the experimental data is performed,it is shown that this modified model is reasonable and more realistic to simulate and analyse pedestrian counter flow.  相似文献

We discuss the spatiotemporal intermittency (STI) seen in the coupled sine circle map lattice. The phase diagram of this system, when updated with random initial conditions, shows very rich behaviour including synchronised solutions, and STI of various kinds. These behaviours are organised around the bifurcation boundary of the synchronised solutions, as well as an infection line which separates the lower part of the phase diagram into a spreading and a non-spreading regime. The STI seen at the bifurcation boundary in the spreading regime belongs convincingly to the directed percolation (DP) universality class. In the non-spreading regime, spatial intermittency (SI) with temporally regular bursts is seen at the bifurcation boundary. The laminar length distribution scales as a power-law with an exponent which is quite distinct from DP behaviour. Therefore, both DP and non-DP universality classes are seen in this system. When the coupled map lattice is mapped to a cellular automaton via coarse graining, a transition from a probabilistic cellular automaton to a deterministic cellular automaton at the infection line signals the transition from spreading to non-spreading behaviour.  相似文献

The electronic and lattice entropies associated with the valence transition are estimated. The electronic entropy in metallic phase is evaluated based on the model which includes the mixing between ?-level and d-band states, and the d-band superimposes the hybridized ?-level. The quasiharmonic approximation together with the Debye approximation are used to calculate the lattice entropy. For the first order transition occurring at low temperature the entropy of semiconducting phase is found to be lower than that of metallic phase. The reverse situation is obtained for high transition temperature. This explains the experimental fact that the slope of the phase boundary of valence transition in SmS changes its sign with temperature. The specific heat calculated in this model shows a broad maximum at low temperature.  相似文献

The bifurcation structure of coupled maps on the Sierpinski gasket is investigated. The fractal character of the underlying lattice gives rise to stability boundaries for the periodic synchronized states with unusual features and spatially inhomogeneous states with a complex structure. The results are illustrated by calculations on coupled quadratic and cubic maps. For the coupled cubic map lattice bistability and domain growth processes are studied.  相似文献

A modified coupled map car-following model is proposed, in which two successive vehicle headways in front of the considering vehicle is incorporated into the optimal velocity function. The steady state under certain conditions is obtained. An error system around the steady state is studied further. Moreover, the condition for the state having no traffic jam is derived. A new control scheme is presented to suppress the traffic jam in the modified coupled map car-following model under the open boundary. A control signal including the velocity differences between the following and the considering vehicles, and between the preceding and the considering vehicles is used. The condition under which the traffic jam can be well suppressed is analysed. The results are compared with that presented by Konishi et al. (the KKH model). The simulation results show that the temporal behaviour obtained in our model is better than that in the KKH model. The simulation results are in good agreement with the theoretical analysis.  相似文献

The dynamics of globally coupled map lattices can be described in terms of a nonlinear Frobenius-Perron equation in the limit of large system size. This approach allows for an analytical computation of stationary states and their stability. The bifurcation behavior of coupled tent maps near the chaotic band merging point is presented. Furthermore, the time-independent states of coupled logistic equations are analyzed. The bifurcation diagram of the uncoupled map carries over to the map lattice. Based on the pioneer work of Konishi et al., a new control method is proposed to suppress the traffic congestion in the coupled map (CM) car-following model under open boundary condition. The influence of the following car to the system has been considered. Our method and that presented by Konishi et al. [Phys. Rev. E 60 (1999) 4000] are compared. Although both the methods could suppress the traffic jam, the simulation results show that thetemporal behavior obtained by ours is better than that proposed by the Konishi's et al. The simulation results are consistent with the theoretical analysis.  相似文献

The optimal velocity model of traffic is extended to take the relative velocity into account. The traffic behavior is investigated numerically and analytically with this model. It is shown that the car interaction with the relative velocity can effect the stability of the traffic flow and raise critical density. The jamming transition between the freely moving and jamming phases is investigated with the linear stability analysis and nonlinear perturbation methods. The traffic jam is described by the kink solution of the modified Korteweg--de Vries equation. The theoretical result is in good agreement with the simulation.  相似文献
