We have investigated the structural and superconducting properties of Eu1−xPrxBaSrCu3O7−δ by X-ray diffraction analysis, AC and DC magnetization and DC resistivity measurements. The parent compound crystallizes in the orthorhombic symmetry which transforms to tetragonal symmetry at x=0.2. Superconducting transition temperature Tc decreases monotonically with increasing x which approaches zero at x=0.6. The enhancement in critical concentration xcr observed in Eu1−xPrxBa2Cu3O7−δ on replacing 50 at.% Ba by Sr is attributed to the resulting local structural changes.  相似文献

The oxide ErBa2Cu3O7−y has been obtained in the orthorhombic and the tetragonal forms by suitable heat treatments. The orthorhombic form is metallic and superconducting with Tc=88 K while the tetragonal form has high resistance and is non-superconducting. Magnetic studies on both types of compounds reveal that the rare earth ion moment is very close to its free ion value independent of the structure. In the tetragonal compound, deviations in the susceptibility from the Curie-Weiss behavior are noted at low temperatures which may be due to the effect of crystalline electric fields.  相似文献

We have measured the specific heat, the electrical resistance and the magnetic susceptibility of YBa2Cu3O7–x in a superconducting (sc) and in a non-superconducting (nsc) version. The latter was obtained by inducing a small loss of oxygen. In the sc sample we find a jump of the specific heat with C=3.6 J mole–1 K–1. Below the maximum nearT c the specific heat of the sc version drops too fast for an electronic effect alone: there is a cross-over from excess to deficiency already at 0.9T c . The specific heat of the nsc version shows a change of slope in the temperature range between 70 and 80 K, which indicates the existence of a second specific heat anomaly, which apparently exists independently of that due to the onset of superconductivity and explains at least partially the premature crossover.Alexander von Humboldt fellow. The magnetic properties of superconducting EuBa2Cu3O7–x with resistiveT c 96.5 K are measured. The normal state magnetic susceptibility is analyzed within the framework of the Van Vleck-Frank theory, leading to the conclusion that the strong moments of the Eu3+ ions are uncorrelated, and do not affect the superconducting state.  相似文献

Abstract

Abstract Infrared spectra of La2?xSrxCuO4 and YBa2Cu3O7?δ are discussed, specially with respect to the disappearance of the high-frequency (~650 cm) band of the superconducting compositions at 300K. Some of the bands persist at 300K eventhough the materials are fairly conducting. YBa2Cu3O7?δ does not show evidence in the far IR spectrum for the presence of an optical gap.  相似文献

Pr-substituted (Dy1−xPrx)BaSrCu3O7−δ (x=0.0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.4 and 0.7) has been investigated for its superconducting and elastic properties. Structural transition from orthorhombic to tetragonal symmetry is observed at x=0.1. Temperature-dependent sound velocity was measured using the pulse-echo overlap method. Elastic anomalies in the form of lattice stiffening with decreasing temperature were observed above 200 K. These anomalies were attributed to oxygen vacancy orderings in the Cu(1)O plane and also depended on the configurational state of oxygen orderings which is strongly influenced by Pr-doping.  相似文献

Using a series of samples ranging in composition from δ = 2 to δ = 3 we have successfully introduced substantial amounts of fluorine into samples of superconducting Ba2YCu3O9-δ by annealing under F2 gas flows at low temperatures. These syntheses yielded single phase materials containing up to 1.05 F per formula unit. 19F NMR experiments have confirmed that fluorine is incorporated into the lattice and susceptibility and transport measurements indicate that the samples are superconducting with critical temperatures in the range 80 to 89 K.  相似文献

We study the structural, superconducting and magnetic properties of the Y1−xPrxBaSrCu3O7 system with x=0.0, 0.20, 0.25, 0.30, 0.40, 0.50, 0.60, 0.75 and 1.0, from X-ray diffraction, AC and DC magnetic susceptibility measurements. X-ray diffraction results reveal that while Pr substitutes isostructurally until x=0.50 in Y1−xPrxBaSrCu3O7, for x=0.75 and 1.0 few small intensity un-reacted lines are observed in the spectrum. The orthorhombic distortion decreases with an increase in x. Both x=0.75 and 1.0 samples are tetragonal. The c lattice parameter of the substituted samples increases with x, indicating probable substitution of comparatively bigger ionic radii Pr3+/4+ ion at Y3+ in Y1−xPrxBaSrCu3O7 system. The AC susceptibility results showed that the transition temperature Tc of the Y1−xPrxBaSrCu3O7 system decreases monotonically with an increase in x. Both x=0.75 and 1.0 samples do not show a superconducting transition down to 4.2 K. The critical concentration of Pr to completely suppress superconductivity in Y1−xPrxBaSrCu3O7 is higher (0.75) than that reported (0.55) for Y1−xPrxBa2Cu3O7. DC magnetic susceptibility measurements done on PrBaSrCu3O7 and PrBa2Cu3O7 samples at 0.5 T revealed that while the Pr ordering temperature seems to be 12 K for the former, the same is 17 K for the latter. These results indicate that the ordering temperature of Pr moments in RE1−xPrx : 123-type systems, which decides the Pr4f hybridisation with the Cu–O conduction band has a direct connection to the suppression of superconductivity. The lower TN of Pr explains the less destructive effect of the same on the superconductivity of the parent undoped system.  相似文献

The magnetic properties of superconducting GdBa2Cu3O7–x withT c95 K are measured. In the normal state, its susceptibility closely follows the Curie law with an effective moment of 7.77 B .H c1 is determined to be 650 Oe. No superconducting fluctuation can be delineated. Flux pinning indicated behavior of type II superconductors. A 25–405 diamagnetic state indicating bulk superconductivity in GdBa2Cu3O7–x .  相似文献

The optical spectrum of reduced-T c GdBa2Cu3O7– has been measured for polarizations parallel and perpendicular to theab plane. The sample was an oxygen-deficient single crystal with a large face containing thec axis. The polarized reflectance from this face was measured from 20–300 K in the spectral region from 30–3000 cm–1, with 300 K data to 30000 cm–1. Kramers-Kronig analysis was used to determine the spectral dependence of theab and thec components of the dielectric tensor. The optical properties are strongly anisotropic. Theab-plane response resembles that of other reduced-T c materials whereas thec axis, in contrast, shows only the presence of several phonons. There is a complete absence of charge carrier response alongc aboveand belowT c. This observation allows us to set an upper limit to the free-carrier spectral weight for transport perpendicular to the CuO2 planes.Permanent address: Institute of Physics, CSAV, Prague, Czechoslovakia  相似文献

Effects of doping YBa2Cu3O7-δ with Mg and Zn on its crystallographic structure and superconducting behaviour have been investigated. Orthorhombic structure is retained upto Mg/Cu ratio of 0.12 (the highest investigated here), but Tc decreases rapidly with the level of Mg-doping. The effects produced by Mg-doping are very similar to those due to Zn-doping investigated by the present authors as well as by others. Neutron diffraction measurements have been carried out on two substituted materials: YBa2Cu2.82Mg0.18O7-δ and YBa2Cu2.82Zn0.18O7-δ. Both Mg- and Zn-dopants show strong tendency of occupying Cu(II)-sites in the unit cell. In the case of Mg-doping, however, a strikingly different feature is the concomitant depletion of oxygen at the O3-sites by an amount nearly equal to the Mg-concentration.  相似文献

Temperature dependencies of acoustic lossesQ –1 and of relative sound velocity change v/v in YBa2Cu3O7– up to 60 K are calculated by the tunneling model theory. The tunneling systems are related to the off-centered positions of the apical oxygen atoms O(A) and are described through the pseudo-Jahn-Teller effect. Tunneling systems' parameters are distributed in narrow range of values and are in correspondence with the experimentally observed infrared phonon spectra and thermal ellipsoids of O(A). Respective relaxation times are calculated by the adapted reaction rate method. The calculatedQ –1(T) and v(T)/v dependencies are in good agreement with the experimental data, which is an additional support to the conclusion about the existence of tunneling systems in YBa2Cu3O7– due to the pseudo Jahn-Teller effect.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The blue phase of YBa2Cu3O7- δ (YBCO) family, Y2Cu2O5 (Y202) nanoparticles were prepared and doped into (YBCO) superconductor and the effect of doping on critical current density and critical temperature was investigated. Y202 nanoparticles with particle sizes of 47, 107 and 206?nm were prepared by a sol–gel combustion method and added into the YBCO superconductor by 0.5–2?wt.%. XRD and scanning electron microscope measurements were used to characterize the samples. The measurement of critical current density at 77?K revealed that the doped superconductors had larger critical current density compared to the undoped superconductors. For a fixed dopant concentration, by increasing the size of nanoparticles, the Jc was increased. For the samples including 0.5?wt.% of nanoadditives, Jc was higher. The highest critical current density of 137?A/cm2 was measured for the superconductors containing 0.5?wt.% of 206?nm Y202 nanoparticles. Also, by increasing the nanoparticles concentration, the Tc was reduced.  相似文献

Results of resistivity, ac magnetic susceptibility, Hall effect and superconducting transition temperature measurements for single phase Ba2DyCu3O7−δ are reported. The positive value of the Hall coefficient indicates than in the normal state the material conducts via holes with a carrier concentration of 1.0×1021cm-3. DC magnetic susceptibility and resistivity measurements have been performed on 14 Tl(Sr1.5R0.5)CaCu2O7−δ compounds with R=La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb and Lu. All samples except the Ce-doped compound show superconducting phase transition temperature around 80–90 K. The rare-earth atoms behave as local moments above the superconducting transition temperature of these compounds. Mechanism of filling of holes in the CuO2 plane can be employed to interpret the suppression or enhancement of superconductivity by rare-earth ions in Tl(Sr1.5R0.5)CaCu2O7−δ.  相似文献

In this paper we investigate the properties of polycrystalline series of Ru1?xCrxSr2Eu1.5Ce0.5Cu2O10?δ (0.0 ? x ? 0.40) by resistivity, XRD and dc magnetization measurements. EuRu-1222 is a reported magneto superconductor with Ru spins magnetic ordering at temperatures near 100 K and superconductivity occurs in Cu–O2 planes below Tc ? 40 K. The exact nature of Ru spins magnetic ordering is still being debated and no conclusion has been reached yet. In this work, we found the superconducting transition temperature Tc = 20 K from resistivity and dc magnetization measurements for pristine sample. DC magnetization measurements exhibited ferromagnetic like transition for all samples.  相似文献

A study on the effect of powder, spray and coating parameters on superconducting properties of plasma-sprayed Y1Ba2Cu3O7–x coatings has been carried out. Optimised spray parameters to yield strong, adherent and dense coatings on many substrates including AISI 304 SS and alumina have been obtained. Coatings show superconductivity after oxygen annealing at 950°C for an hour. Coatings thinner than 100 m do not show zero resistivity down to 77 K due to weak links between granular superconductors. Coatings prepared with fine powder have superior superconducting properties, viz. higherT c andJ c values than coarse powder coatings. The choice of substrate material strongly affects theJ c values.  相似文献

Thermal and magnetic measurements have been performed on several YBa2Cu3O7−δ compounds, some ones showing a large content of high Tc (93 K) superconducting phase. A jump in the specific heat ΔCp, is well evidenced at the transition allowing a determination of the ratio ΔCp/Tc ≅ 23 ± 5. mJ/ (mole Cu)K2. In addition, an estimation of the γ value (≅ 11 mJ/(mole Cu). K2) has been drawn from the determination of the electronic entropy at Tc. The samples have been characterized by susceptibility, magnetization and resistivity experiments. The critical field slopes at Tc were found to be dHc1/dT ≅ 17 Oe/K and dHc2/dT ≅ 20 kOe/K. The results are discussed in the framework of the Ginzburg-Landau theory.  相似文献

Cu 3d and O 2p electronic states of Cu2O, CuO, and the highT c compound YBa2Cu3O7– have been probed by means of high resolution x-ray emission spectroscopy (XES). The CuL and OK XES bands are compared in detail with recently reported x-ray photoelectron and ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS and UPS) measurements and densities of states obtained by local density functional (LDF) theory. The XES data show that the hybridization between Cu 3d and O 2p states is completely modified in CuO and YBa2Cu3O7–, whered-d correlation energy is large, as compared to LDF predictions. Such is not the case for Cu2O where agreement between theory and experiment is good.The Cu 3d states are found to be highly localized in YBa2Cu3O7– (though less so than in CuO). The O 2p states lie at lower binding energies than in the simpler oxides and are mainly situated above the Cu 3d states. The respective positions of the centre of gravity of the OK emission bands on an x-ray energy scale indicate that the oxygen sites are less well screened by the O 2p states in the highT c compound. This provides indirect evidence for the presence ofd-like states at the oxygen sites.  相似文献
