We consider Ising models on a hyperbolic graph which, loosely speaking, is a discretization of the hyperbolic planeH 2 in the same sense asZ d is a discretization ofR d . We prove that the models exhibit multiple phase transitions. Analogous results for Potts models can be obtained in the same way.  相似文献

We consider Ising models with ferromagnetic interactions and zero external magnetic field on the hyperbolic graph (v, f), where v is the number of neighbors of each vertex and f is the number of sides of each face. Let T c be the critical temperature and T c =supTT c: f=( ++ )/2, where f is the free boundary condition (b.c.) Gibbs state, + is the plus b.c. Gibbs state and is the minus b.c. Gibbs state. We prove that if the hyperbolic graph is self-dual (i.e., v=f) or if v is sufficiently large (how large depends on f, e.g., v35 suffices for any f3 and v17 suffices for any f17) then 0<T c <T c, in contrast with that T c =T c for Ising models on the hypercubic lattice Z d with d2, a result due to Lebowitz.(22) While whenever T<T c , f=( ++ )/2. The last result is an improvement in comparison with the analogous statement in refs. 28 and 33, in which it was only proved that f=( ++ )/2 when TT c and it remains to show in both papers that f =( ++ )/2 whenever T<T c . Therefore T c and T c divide [0, ] into three intervals: [0, T c ), (T c , T c), and (T c, ] in which + but f =( ++ )/2, + and f ( ++ )/2, and += , respectively.  相似文献

We prove some inequalities for two-point correlations of Ising antiferromagnets and derive inequalities relating correlations of ferromagnets to correlations of antiferromagnets whose interactions and field strengths have equal magnitudes. The proofs are based on the method of duplicate spin variables introduced by J. Percus and used by several authors to derive correlation inequalities for Ising ferromagnets.  相似文献

Upper bounds are obtained for spin ±1 systems. In the case of only nearestneighbor interactions on, for example, the square lattice we obtain cJ>0.3592. The method's strength is seen when considering systems with longer-range interactions. For example, we obtain cJ>0.360 compared to the previous best bound of c J 0.345 for the one-dimensional lattice with 1/r 2 interactions. The method relies upon an identity between correlation functions and then the use of correlation inequalities to obtain the final bounds.  相似文献

We establish the following new correlation inequalities for the truncated twopoint function of an Ising ferromagnet in a positive external field: j ; l T j ; k T k ; l T , and j ; l T k K j ; k T k l , whereK is any set of sites which separatesj froml. The inequalities are also valid for the pure phases with zero magnetic field at all temperatures. In this expanded version of an earlier letter, we consider many computational details that were omitted for want of space. Ford = 2 Ising spins with up to 13 different short-range interactions, we construct the critical surface in the vicinity of (Onsager's) nearest-neighbor (nn) critical point by using the body of the available information on the solvable nn case. We then see if the Monte Carlo renormalization group flows generated from this point do indeed lie on this surface and quantify the errors if they do not.  相似文献

We investigate correlation inequalities for Ising ferromagnets with continuous spins, giving a simple unified derivation of inequalities of Griffiths, Ginibre, Percus, Lebowitz, and Ellis and Monroe. The single-spin measure and Hamiltonian for which an inequality may be proved become more restricted as the inequality becomes more complex. However, all results hold for a model with ferromagnetic pair interactions, positive (nonuniform) external field, and single-spin measure eitherv() = [1/(l + 1)] x f=0/l (–l +2j +) (spinl/2) ordv() = exp [–P()]d, whereP is an even polynomial all of whose coefficients must be positive except the quadratic, which is arbitrary. The Lebowitz correlation inequality is a corollary of the Ellis-Monroe inequality. As an application, we generalize the method of van Beijeren to establish a sharp phase interface at low temperature in nearest neighbor ferromagnets of at least three dimensions with arbitrary (symmetric) single-spin measure.Supported in part by the National Science Foundation under Grants MPS 73-05037 and MPS 75-20638. We present a new method for the study of a one-dimensional inhomogeneous Ising chain with nonconstant nearest neighbor interactions. The external field required to produce a given magnetization profile is derived exactly. Some properties of the pair direct correlation function are derived. We consider Glauber dynamics at zero temperature for the ferromagnetic Ising model on the usual random graph model on N vertices, with on average γ edges incident to each vertex, in the limit as N→∞. Based on numerical simulations, Svenson (Phys. Rev. E 64 (2001) 036122) reported that the dynamics fails to reach a global energy minimum for a range of values of γ. The present paper provides a mathematically rigorous proof that this failure to find the global minimum in fact happens for all γ>0. A lower bound on the residual energy is also given.  相似文献

Progress in the area of the Ising model roughening transition has previously been limited by the lack of a good definition for the interface separating the pure phases. Using a new microcanonical algorithm efficiently vectorized on a Cray XMP, we reach a simulation speed of 1.5 nsec per update of one spin, three times faster than the best previous method known to us. The mean-field approximation is shown to give an upper bound on the magnetization for a large class of one-component models with arbitrary ferromagnetic pair interactions. Specific examples include discrete and continuous spin Ising models. In addition, a new comparison inequality for multicomponent rotators is proven which allows this result to be extended to the plane rotator and classical Heisenberg ferromagnets.  相似文献

Metastable states of homogeneous 2D and 3D Ising models are studied under free boundary conditions. The states are defined in terms of weak and strict local minima of the total interaction energy. The morphology of these minima is characterized locally and globally on square and cubic grids. Furthermore, in the 2D case, transition from any spin configuration that is not a strict minimum to a strict minimum is possible via non-energy-increasing single flips.  相似文献
