Synthesis of Methyl Virensate The synthesis of methyl virensate (=methyl 4-formyl-3,8-dihydroxy-1,6,9-trimethyl-11-oxo-11H-dibenzo-[b, e][1,4]dioxepin-7-carboxylate; 18 ) by the condensation of the substituted β-orcinol and orcinol units 9 and 10 followed by formylation and demethylation of the depsidone 13 is described.     

Copolymerisation radicalaire du méthacrylate de méthyle et du chlorure de vinylidène avec ou sans dérive de composition

Two sets of methylmethacrylate-vinylidene chloride copolymers were prepared via radical copolymerization in dimethylformamide. The first set is carried out in batches. Gas-chromatographic analysis of samples allows a kinetic study from which the reactivity ratios r_M - 2.73 and r_C - 0.24 are derived. For the second set a new apparatus, briefly described, has been used. It permits to keep constant the composition of the monomer mixture, through addition of methyl methacrylate, monitored by a chromatographic analysis. The two sets of copolymers are analyzed using nuclear magnetic resonance (60 MHz) leading to the triad distribution, from which the reactivity ratios are derived. Owing to the composition drift, the method cannot be applied to the first set of copolymers; but in that case, it is possible to calculate the triad distribution, the knowledge of the reactivity ratios, and the calculation fits quite well the experimental results.

Synthesis, polymerization and copolymerization of allylic, vinylic and acrylic monomers containing chlorinated or chlorofluorinated substituents were studied. The reactivity of terminal alcohols or acids is influenced by their neighbouring group. Synthèse de nouveaux polyesters insaturés styrèniques à partir de diols isomoléculaires à ponts thio-éthers. Étude par RMN et tenue thermique

The synthesis of unsaturated polyesters cross-linked by means of styrene have been carried out from high isomolecular weight diols containing thio-ether bonds. The ¹H-NMR peaks have been attributed. Those polyesters exhibit softness to a certain extent in conjunction with relatively high degradation temperatures (T_d 400°C).     

Synthèse et étude physico-chimique de sulfures,sulfoxydes et sulfones en série thiazolique

The alkylation of Δ⁴-thiazoline-2-thiones under phase transfer catalysis conditions leads to the corresponding thioethers in good yields. The oxidation of 2-alkylthiazoles with m-chloroperbenzoic acid leads to the corresponding sulfines or sulfones depending on experimental conditions in yields of about 80-90%. The characteristic gle, tlc, ir, ¹H nmr and ms data are reported for most of the compounds studied.     

Synthèse et étude conformationnelle de dioxa-1,3 aza-9 spiro[5,5]undecanes

Synthesis of the new l,3-dioxa-9-azaspiro[5.5]undecane ring, was realized by the scheme represented in Figure 2. Butyro-phenones 6 posses neuroleptic activity similar to that of halo-peridol. The pharmacological activity was reported in another publication (2). Conformational study of l,3-dioxa-9-azaspiro-[5.5]undecanes shows the existence of four conformations A, B, C and D, which are shown in Figure 4. The existence of these conformations depends on the nature of the substituents R and R' on the dioxane ring. Thus, in the compounds where R ≠ H, R' = H, the four conformations are possible with a preponderance of A and B. If R and R' are different from H only the conformation A is present in 99% concentration. Lastly, when R = R' = H, the four conformations are possible with equal population for the couple A, B and the couple C, D; the first couple predominating. The presence of a fluorophenylbutyric moiety on the piperidine nitrogen does not seem to stereochemically modify the heterocyclic group.     

Polymérisation anionique du méthacrylate de méthyle par les organo-alcalins-I : Polymérisation en milieu solvant aprotonique, étude des tacticités

Anionic polymerizations of methylmethacrylate, initiated by fluorenyl-alkali metals in ether media or in hexamethyl phosphotriamide, give syndiotactic polymers. Calculated differential entropies and enthalpies of activation between the iso- and syndiotactic placements reveal that in dioxane, tetrahydropyrane and tetrahydrofurane the syndiotacticity increases from K⁺ to Li⁺. With solvents having higher dielectric constant (such as hexamethyl phosphotriamide) or higher donating power (such as glyme 4), the tacticity of the polymers is not affected by the nature of the counter-ions.

It has been suggested that, with dioxane, tetrahydropyrane and tetrahydrofurane, the donating power is not strong enough to destroy the coordination bonds between the C=O groups of the living polymer chains and the counter-ions.     

Synthèse de copolymères greffés à base de polyéthylène—1

Polyethylene macromolecular free radical initiators, obtained by ozonization, are used to prepare graft copolymers with methyl methacrylate, styrene and vinyl chloride. The reactions parameters are the number of initiator groups (found by DPPH), peroxide and hydroperoxide proportions (respectively 36 and 64%), decomposition rate (K_d at 90° 10⁻¹sec⁻¹) and monomer concentration. The molecular structure of these copolymers is defined.     

Synthèse et réactivité des bromhydrines dérivées de la chromone

Bromohydroxylated derivatives of chromone are obtained by addition of N-bromosuccinimide in dimethylsulfoxide. The configuration and conformation of these compounds are confirmed by NMR spectroscopy. Alkaline alcoholates react with these bromohydrins to give a ring contraction into 2-formyl-3-benzofuranone.     

Synthèse et étude structurale de dérivés substitués en -2 du thiazolidine carboxylate d'éthyle-4 (R)

Pharmacological properties of thiazolidine derivatives are of great interest. For this purpose we prepared two series: 2-hydroxyalkyl-4-carbethoxythiazolidines and 2-carbalkoxyalkyl-4-carbethoxythiazolidines. Their syntheses involve a condensation reaction between L-carbethoxy-cystein and several α-hydroxyketones or β-ketoesters. Compounds 4 and 5 was obtained as an unequal mixture of diastereoisomers. Protons nmr spectra at 300 MHz in the presence of trifluoroacetic acid shows a modification of diastereoisomer percentages which indicate the existence of an equilibrium through an imminium ion intermediate. Therefore, the stereoselectivity observed reflects the relative stability of the different diastereoisomers.     

Sels d'aziridinium stables C-fonctionnalisés III: Synthèse et caractérisation d'aziridines protonées épimères à l'azote

Aziridinium ions were prepared from aziridines bearing a functionality on a ring carbon and as isolated crystalline fluorosulfate salts either by protonation in fluorosulfuric acid solution or by alkylation with methyl fluorosulfate. The structural assignement of these ions is based on nmr spectra and on quenching experiments with sodium carbonate. The configurations of the epimeric ions have been assigned by the nuclear Qverhauser effect and the stereoselectivity in protonation is disucussed.     

Synthèse partielle et propriétés oncostatiques des pseudo-tubulosines,analogues de l'émétine et de la tubulosine

Partial Synthesis and Oncostatic Properties of Pseudotubulosines, Analogues of Emetine and Tubulosine Pseudotubulosines, structural analogues of emetine and tubulosine, have been synthesized by either Pictet-Spengler or Bischler-Napieralski condensation from dihydrocorynantheal or corynantheidal. Spectral data, cytotoxic and oncostatic properties of these new alkaloids are described.
