This paper is devoted to an (n+4)-dimensional unification of NGT (nonsymmetric gravitation theory) and Yang-Mills theory in a Jordan-Thiry manner. We find interference effects between gravitational and Yang-Mills fields which appear to be due to the skew-symmetric part of the metric on the (n+4)-dimensional manifold (nonsymmetrically metrized principal fiber bundle). Our unification, called the nonsymmetric-non-Abelian Jordan-Thiry theory, becomes classical if the skew-symmetric part of the metric is zero. We find the Yang-Mills field Lagrangian up to the second order of approximation inh =g . We also deal with the Lagrangian for the scalar field (connected to the gravitational constant). We consider the spin content of the theory and a relationship between the cosmological constant and the coupling constant between the skewon field and the gauge field in the first order of approximation. We show how to derive a dielectric model of a confinement from interference effects in these theories. We underline some similarities between the nonsymmetric Jordan-Thiry Lagrangian in the flat space limit and the soliton bag model Lagrangian.  相似文献

An estimate for the value of the nonlinear interference term in the Young double-slit experiment is found using the Feynman path-integral method. In our time-dependent calculation the usual interference term becomes multiplied by 1+e withe proportional to cos(2m L/ T), where is the distance between the two slits (holes) andL is the length of the shortest trajectory of electrons between the source and the observation point.  相似文献

Stochastic Loewner evolutions (SLE) are random growth processes of sets, called hulls, embedded in the two dimensional upper half plane. We elaborate and develop a relation between SLE evolutions and conformal field theories (CFT) which is based on a group theoretical formulation of SLE processes and on the identification of the proper hull boundary states. This allows us to define an infinite set of SLE zero modes, or martingales, whose existence is a consequence of the existence of a null vector in the appropriate Virasoro modules. This identification leads, for instance, to linear systems for generalized crossing probabilities whose coefficients are multipoint CFT correlation functions. It provides a direct link between conformal correlation functions and probabilities of stopping time events in SLE evolutions. We point out a relation between SLE processes and two dimensional gravity and conjecture a reconstruction procedure of conformal field theories from SLE data. Member of the CNRS  相似文献

We show that with the help of a suitable coupling between dark energy and cold dark matter it is possible to reproduce any scaling solution X M a , where X and M are the densities of dark energy and dark matter, respectively. We demonstrate how the case = 1 alleviates the coincidence problem. Future observations of supernovae at high redshift as well as quasar pairs which are planned to discriminate between different cosmological models will also provide direct constraints on the coupling between dark matter and dark energy.  相似文献

Collisional and Doppler linewidths (v C and v D ) of the 469.4 nm and 473.9 nm Kr ion lines were measured in a He-Kr hollow cathode discharge using Fabry-Perot technique. A linear dependence of v C on He pressure was found for both lines. Significant differences were found between the temperature values deduced from the v D -s of the two lines, and an unexpected temperature dependence of the broadening parameter for the Kr+ 469 nm line was also observed. The temperature difference between the two lines is explained by excitation of the upper level of the 469 nm line by second kind collisions between metastable He atoms and ground-state Kr ions, while the temperature dependence of the broadening parameter of the Kr+ 469 nm line is suggested to be due to the inverse process.  相似文献

We study the thermodynamic properties of a simple model for the possible mechanism of attraction between like charged rod-like polyions inside a polyelectrolyte solution. We consider two polyions in parallel planes, with Z charges each, in a solution containing multivalent counterion of valence . The model is solved exactly for Z13 for a general angle between the rods and supposing that n counterions are condensed onto each polyion. The free energy has two minima, one at =0 (parallel rods) and another at =/2 (perpendicular rods). The stability of the parallel and perpendicular configurations is analyzed.  相似文献

We establish a new Howe duality between a pair of two queer Lie superalgebras (q(m),q(n)). This gives a representation theoretic interpretation of a well-known combinatorial identity for Schur Q-functions. We further establish the equivalence between this new Howe duality and the Schur–Sergeev duality between q(n) and a central extension of the hyperoctahedral group H k. We show that the zero-weight space of a q(n)-module with highest weight given by a strict partition of n is an irreducible module over the finite group parameterized by . We also discuss some consequences of this Howe duality.  相似文献

We study the interface between liquid and vapor in the context of the van der Waals theory, considering the non-local free energy functional recently derived by Lebowitz, Mazel, and Presutti from a system of particles in the continuum with Kac potentials. We prove that the density profile between vapor and liquid is monotone when the inverse temperature is between the critical value c and a second critical value *> c , becoming oscillatory after * and overshooting the equilibrium density of the liquid phase infinitely often.  相似文献

Measurements of the low-temperature specific heatC and thermal conductivity of vitreous silica after heat treatment at temperaturesT a between 900°C and 1,400°C are reported. A decrease ofC and an increase of are observed over the whole temperature range studied (C0.06K<T<6K; 0.5 K<T<20 K). Below 1 K the changes inC and (10%) are attributed to a dependence of the density of tunneling states on the fictive temperature. Measurements of the thermal conductivity show that these changes are reversible, thus strongly supporting the evidence for a connection between the tunneling states and the quasi-equilibrium state which is frozen in when an undercooled liquid drops out of thermal equilibrium. Our results are compared to predictions of the free-volume theory of the glass transition. At higher temperaturesC decreases by roughly the same amount as below 1 K while increases by up to 30%. The dependence ofC and onT a cannot be explained unambigously in terms of a phonon-fraction crossover in the vibrational density of states. Two-dimensional lattice-gas models with attractive interactions and particle-conserving hopping dynamics under the influence of a very large external electric field E along a principal axis are studied in the case of different ratios between the jump rates in the field direction and perpendicular to it using different transition probabilities. We investigate the dependence of the non-equilibrium steady-state properties on the transition mechanism. We find self-similarity with respect to (T, ) and a coexistence curve critical exponent which, for small, seems independent of. There is some evidence that this exponent might be halfway between the equilibrium mean field and Onsager's values. A series ofc-axis oriented YBa2Cu3O x -films with different oxygen content were prepared by laser deposition. The oxygen contentx was determined by X-ray diffraction and by resonant Rutherford-back-scattering (RRBS) measurements. Thec-axis length in these films of YBa2Cu3O x is about 0.5% larger compared to bulk values. We describe transport measurements in magnetic fields up to 7 Tesla between room temperature andT c in samples with an oxygen content between the orthorhombic-to-tetragonal transition (x6.4) and full oxygenation (x7). The ratio /R H was investigated with respect to the two-dimensional Luttinger liquid theory and the model of the two-dimensional ionic metal. We report on deviations from the expected quadratic temperature behaviour of /R H , especially in films with high oxygen content.  相似文献

Within the ferromagneticq-state Potts model we discuss the wetting of the interface between two ordered phasesa andb by the disordered phasef at the transition temperature. In two or more dimensions and forq large we establish the validity of the Antonov's rule, ab = af + fb , where denotes the surface tension between the considered phases. We report measurements, between helium and room temperature, of the thermal expansion (T), sound velocitiesv L (T) andv T (v) and specific heatC(T) of YBa2Cu3O7 samples, all cut from the same sintered pellet. A linear term in (T) is resolved at low temperatures. It is compared with a corresponding term in the low temperature specific heat and, using the bulk modulus from our sound propagation measurements, a Grüneisen parameter of usual size (1.2±0.4) is derived-in conformity with the possible existence of non-superconducting carriers well belowT c . Longtime drift effects in the length of the sample between 30 K and 60 K point to the vicinity of a structural instability. The Debye temperature derived fromC(T) amounts to about 450 K atT=T c =91 K and forT0 approaches 350 K, in agreement with the value deduced fromv L (T) andv T (T). The superconducting transition is indicated by anomalies with idealized discontinuities and C. A thermodynamic relation between and C yields the relative pressure derivative ofT c ,t p =T c –1 (T c /p) p0=+(0.7±0.2)·10–7 kbar–1.  相似文献

For one-dimensional expanding mapsT with an invariant measure we consider, in a parameter space, the envelope n of the real lines associated to any couple of points of the orbit, connected byn iterations ofT. If the map hass inverses and is piecewise linear, then the sets n are just the union ofs n points and converge to the invariant Cantor set ofT. A correspondence between all the sets and their measures is established and allows one to associate the atomic measure on 1 to the completly continuous measure on the Cantor set. If the map is nonlinear, hyperbolic, and hass inverses, the sets n are homeomorphic to the Cantor set; they converge to the Cantor set ofT and their measures converge to the measure of the Cantor set whenn. The correspondence between the sets n allows one to define converging approximation schemes for the map an its measure: one replaces each of thes n disjoint sets with a point in a convenient neighborhood and a probability equal to its measure and transforms it back to the original set 1. All the approximations with linear Cantor systems previously proposed are recovered, the converging proprties being straightforward in the present scheme. Moreover, extensions to higher dimensionality and to nondisconnected repellers arte possible and are briefly examined.  相似文献

A new metric which we call the intrinsic metric is introduced on the states of the generalized logic of quantum mechanics. It is shown that every automorphism on is an isometry. A norm can be defined on the linear spanE of which reduces to the intrinsic metric on. IfX is the completion ofE then every automorphism, on has a unique extension to a linear isometry onX. The transverse magnetoresistance (MR) was measured versus magnetic field strengthB at different rotational angles between the directions of bothB and currentI for n-type silicon crystal with charge carrier concentration of 1·8×1015cm–3. The direction of the current through the two samples was chosen so that the angles between the current vector and [100] crystallographic axis were 50° and 70°, respectively. These measurements were done under weak electric and magnetic fields atT=125 K. It was found that the MR exhibits two types of anomalous effects, one of them at two opposite directions ofB at different, and the other at the same angles, when=50° and=70°. This shows that the anomalous behaviour of MR is not onlyB and dependent, but depends also on the current direction. Also the values ofB which are separated between the negative and positive parts of MR curves at the same depend on the magnitude of. These results may be attributed to the anomalous motion of charge carriers ink-space as a result of deviation of current direction from the symmetry axis.  相似文献

The mathematical relationship between the orientational order parameters and the coherent neutron scattering cross section for a nematic liquid crystal is given. For deuterated para-azoxyanisole the single-molecule part of the cross section is evaluated within the meanfield approximation and combined with experimental results to give information about molecular orientational order in terms of P 2, P 4 and P 6. Both P 2 and P 4 are found necessary for describing the molecular order. Discrepancies between experimental and theoretical results are interpreted as possibly reflecting the inadequacy of the meanfield theory of Maier and Saupe.  相似文献

We report on zero and transverse fieldSR measurements in LaNi5H6 and in-PdHx (x=0.70 and 0.75) between 16 K and room temperature. The +-depolarization is predominantly caused by the spread in nuclear dipole fields from the protons. Motional averaging is caused by the combined motion of protons and the +. The results are quite unexpected and point to +-trapping within regions of largely immobile hydrogen configurations or to a highly correlated +-proton diffusion. In LaNi5H6 a linear change of the second moment with temperature between 20 K and 120 K is indicated.  相似文献
