It is suggested that the process of curdling is an important question for the science of fractals. A field equation which displays nucleation (curdling) of particles out of a pure radiation field is discussed. The particle formation arises naturally from the nonlinear character of the equation rather than from imposed quantization conditions. The relativistically invariant equation is $$div(\rho ^\mu (r,t,\Omega _1 )) = \int {[\rho _\mu (r,t,\Omega ),\rho ^\mu (r,t,\Omega _2 )]d} \Omega _2 $$ where ¦, ¦ denotes commutator.ρ μ (r,t,Ω) is both a 4-vector and a 2×2 matrix. It represents substance atr, t traveling with the velocity of light in direction Ω. A unique feature is that the scattering ofρ(Ω 1) byρ(Ω 2) as determined by the right-hand side of the above equation results in fields that persist at a given place even thoughρ itself represents substance traveling always at the speed of light. Explicit solutions are given for the case of one dimension. Fields representing particles are obtained and shown to have specially oscillatory structure with incipient fractal character.  相似文献

We consider a classical system, in a ν-dimensional cube Ω, with pair potential of the formq(r) + γ v φ(γr). Dividing Ω into a network of cells ω1, ω2,..., we regard the system as in a metastable state if the mean density of particles in each cell lies in a suitable neighborhood of the overall mean densityρ, withρ and the temperature satisfying $$f_0 (\rho ) + \tfrac{1}{2}\alpha \rho ^2 > f(\rho ,0 + )$$ and $$f''_0 (\rho ) + 2\alpha > 0$$ wheref(ρ, 0+) is the Helmholz free energy density (HFED) in the limit γ 0; α = ∫ φ(r)d v r andf 0 (ρ) is the HFED for the caseφ = 0. It is shown rigorously that, for periodic boundary conditions, the conditional probability for a system in the grand canonical ensemble to violate the constraints at timet > 0, given that it satisfied them at time 0, is at mostλt, whereλ is a quantity going to 0 in the limit $$|\Omega | \gg \gamma ^{ - v} \gg |\omega | \gg r_0 \ln |\Omega |$$ Here,r 0 is a length characterizing the potentialq, andx ? y meansx/y → +∞. For rigid walls, the same result is proved under somewhat more restrictive conditions. It is argued that a system started in the metastable state will behave (over times ?λ ?1) like a uniform thermodynamic phase with HFED f0(ρ) + 1/2αρ2, but that having once left this metastable state, the system is unlikely to return.  相似文献

The general theory of inhomogeneous mean-field systems of Raggio and Werner provides a variational expression for the (almost sure) limiting free energy density of the Hopfield model $$H_{N,p}^{\{ \xi \} } (S) = - \frac{1}{{2N}}\sum\limits_{i,j = 1}^N {\sum\limits_{\mu = 1}^N {\xi _i^\mu \xi _j^\mu S_i S_j } } $$ for Ising spinsS i andp random patterns ξμ=(ξ 1 μ 2 μ ,...,ξ N μ ) under the assumption that $$\mathop {\lim }\limits_{N \to \gamma } N^{ - 1} \sum\limits_{i = 1}^N {\delta _{\xi _i } = \lambda ,} \xi _i = (\xi _i^1 ,\xi _i^2 ,...,\xi _i^p )$$ exists (almost surely) in the space of probability measures overp copies of {?1, 1}. Including an “external field” term ?ξ μ p hμμξ i=1 N ξ i μ Si, we give a number of general properties of the free-energy density and compute it for (a)p=2 in general and (b)p arbitrary when λ is uniform and at most the two componentsh μ1 andh μ2 are nonzero, obtaining the (almost sure) formula $$f(\beta ,h) = \tfrac{1}{2}f^{ew} (\beta ,h^{\mu _1 } + h^{\mu _2 } ) + \tfrac{1}{2}f^{ew} (\beta ,h^{\mu _1 } - h^{\mu _2 } )$$ for the free energy, wheref cw denotes the limiting free energy density of the Curie-Weiss model with unit interaction constant. In both cases, we obtain explicit formulas for the limiting (almost sure) values of the so-called overlap parameters $$m_N^\mu (\beta ,h) = N^{ - 1} \sum\limits_{i = 1}^N {\xi _i^\mu \left\langle {S_i } \right\rangle } $$ in terms of the Curie-Weiss magnetizations. For the general i.i.d. case with Prob {ξ i μ =±1}=(1/2)±?, we obtain the lower bound 1+4?2(p?1) for the temperatureT c separating the trivial free regime where the overlap vector is zero from the nontrivial regime where it is nonzero. This lower bound is exact forp=2, or ε=0, or ε=±1/2. Forp=2 we identify an intermediate temperature region between T*=1?4?2 and Tc=1+4?2 where the overlap vector is homogeneous (i.e., all its components are equal) and nonzero.T * marks the transition to the nonhomogeneous regime where the components of the overlap vector are distinct. We conjecture that the homogeneous nonzero regime exists forp≥3 and that T*=max{1?4?2(p?1),0}.  相似文献

It is shown that for normal states ρ and φ of a W *-algebra , where P(.,.) is the transition probability considered by Uhlmann [1], and ζ(ω) is the vector in the natural positive cone of some standard faithful representation of A, associated with the normal state ω. The above inequality is equivalent to: , where d(.,.) is the Bures distance function [5].  相似文献

An electric Molecular-Beam-Resonance-Spectrometer has been used to measure simultanously the Zeeman- and Stark-effect splitting of the hyperfine structure of39K19 F. Electric four pole lenses served as focusing and refocusing fields of the spectrometer. A homogenous magnetic field (Zeeman field) was superimposed to the electric field (Stark field) in the transition region of the apparatus. The observed (Δm J =±1)-transitions were induced electrically. Completely resolved spectra of KF in theJ=1 rotational state have been measured. The obtained quantities are: The electric dipolmomentμ e l of the molecul forv=0,1 and 2; the rotational magnetic dipolmomentμ J forv=0,1; the difference of the magnetic shielding (σ ? σ) by the electrons of both nuclei as well as the difference of the molecular susceptibility (ξ ? ξ). The numerical values are

LetQ n β be the law of then-step random walk on ?d obtained by weighting simple random walk with a factore for every self-intersection (Domb-Joyce model of “soft polymers”). It was proved by Greven and den Hollander (1993) that ind=1 and for every β∈(0, ∞) there exist θ*(β)∈(0,1) and such that under the lawQ n β asn→∞: $$\begin{array}{l} (i) \theta ^* (\beta ) is the \lim it empirical speed of the random walk; \\ (ii) \mu _\beta ^* is the limit empirical distribution of the local times. \\ \end{array}$$ A representation was given forθ *(β) andµ β β in terms of a largest eigenvalue problem for a certain family of ? x ? matrices. In the present paper we use this representation to prove the following scaling result as β?0: $$\begin{array}{l} (i) \beta ^{ - {\textstyle{1 \over 3}}} \theta ^* (\beta ) \to b^* ; \\ (ii) \beta ^{ - {\textstyle{1 \over 3}}} \mu _\beta ^* \left( {\left\lceil { \cdot \beta ^{ - {\textstyle{1 \over 3}}} } \right\rceil } \right) \to ^{L^1 } \eta ^* ( \cdot ) . \\ \end{array}$$ The limitsb *∈(0, ∞) and are identified in terms of a Sturm-Liouville problem, which turns out to have several interesting properties. The techniques that are used in the proof are functional analytic and revolve around the notion of epi-convergence of functionals onL 2(?+). Our scaling result shows that the speed of soft polymers ind=1 is not right-differentiable at β=0, which precludes expansion techniques that have been used successfully ind≧5 (Hara and Slade (1992a, b)). In simulations the scaling limit is seen for β≦10?2.  相似文献

The decayf 1(1285)→ρ0(770)γ was studied at VES spectrometer of IHEP. Clear signal off 1(1285) is seen in the effective mass spectrum of the π+π?γ system in the reaction π?γN→π+π?π?γN at the momentum $P_{\pi ^ - } = 37 GeV/c$ . The branching fraction of decayf 1(1285)→ρ0(770)γ has been found to be $$BR(f_1 (1285) \to \rho ^0 (770)\gamma ) = (2.8 \pm 0.7(stat) \pm 0.6(syst)) \cdot 10^{ - 2} .$$ The ratio of the helicity amplitudes for ρ0 meson in its rest frame was determined by the analysis of angular distributions: $$\rho _{00} /\rho _{11} = 3.9 \pm 0.9(stat) \pm 1.0(syst).$$   相似文献

The Neumann Schrödinger operator \(\mathcal{L}\) is considered on a thin 2D star-shaped junction, composed of a vertex domain Ωint and a few semi-infinite straight leads ω m , m = 1, 2, ..., M, of width δ, δ ? diam Ωint, attached to Ωint at Γ ? ?Ωint. The potential of the Schrödinger operator l ω on the leads vanishes, hence there are only a finite number of eigenvalues of the Neumann Schrödinger operator L int on Ωint embedded into the open spectral branches of l ω with oscillating solutions χ ±(x, p) = \(e^{ \pm iK_ + x} e_m \) of l ω χ ± = p 2 χ ±. The exponent of the open channels in the wires is
$K_ + (\lambda ) = p\sum\limits_{m = 1}^M {e^m } \rangle \langle e^m = \sqrt \lambda P_ + $
, with constant e m , on a relatively small essential spectral interval Δ ? [0, π 2 δ ?2). The scattering matrix of the junction is represented on Δ in terms of the ND mapping
$\mathcal{N} = \frac{{\partial P_ + \Psi }}{{\partial x}}(0,\lambda )\left| {_\Gamma \to P_ + \Psi _ + (0,\lambda )} \right|_\Gamma $
as
$S(\lambda ) = (ip\mathcal{N} + I_ + )^{ - 1} (ip\mathcal{N} - I_ + ), I_ + = \sum\limits_{m = 1}^M {e^m } \rangle \langle e^m = P_ + $
. We derive an approximate formula for \(\mathcal{N}\) in terms of the Neumann-to-Dirichlet mapping \(\mathcal{N}_{\operatorname{int} } \) of L int and the exponent K ? of the closed channels of l ω . If there is only one simple eigenvalue λ 0 ∈ Δ, L intφ0 = λ 0φ0 then, for a thin junction, \(\mathcal{N} \approx |\vec \phi _0 |^2 P_0 (\lambda _0 - \lambda )^{ - 1} \) with
$\vec \phi _0 = P_ + \phi _0 = (\delta ^{ - 1} \int_{\Gamma _1 } {\phi _0 (\gamma )} d\gamma ,\delta ^{ - 1} \int_{\Gamma _2 } {\phi _0 (\gamma )} d\gamma , \ldots \delta ^{ - 1} \int_{\Gamma _M } {\phi _0 (\gamma )} d\gamma )$
and \(P_0 = \vec \phi _0 \rangle |\vec \phi _0 |^{ - 2} \langle \vec \phi _0 \),
$S(\lambda ) \approx \frac{{ip|\vec \phi _0 |^2 P_0 (\lambda _0 - \lambda )^{ - 1} - I_ + }}{{ip|\vec \phi _0 |^2 P_0 (\lambda _0 - \lambda )^{ - 1} + I_ + }} = :S_{appr} (\lambda )$
. The related boundary condition for the components P +Ψ(0) and P +Ψ′(0) of the scattering Ansatz in the open channel \(P_ + \Psi (0) = (\bar \Psi _1 ,\bar \Psi _2 , \ldots ,\bar \Psi _M ), P_ + \Psi '(0) = (\bar \Psi '_1 , \bar \Psi '_2 , \ldots , \bar \Psi '_M )\) includes the weighted continuity (1) of the scattering Ansatz Ψ at the vertex and the weighted balance of the currents (2), where
$\frac{{\bar \Psi _m }}{{\bar \phi _0^m }} = \frac{{\delta \sum\nolimits_{t = 1}^M { \bar \Psi _t \bar \phi _0^t } }}{{|\vec \phi _0 |^2 }} = \frac{{\bar \Psi _r }}{{\bar \phi _0^r }} = :\bar \Psi (0)/\bar \phi (0), 1 \leqslant m,r \leqslant M$
(1)
,
$\sum\limits_{m = 1}^M {\bar \Psi '_m } \bar \phi _0^m + \delta ^{ - 1} (\lambda - \lambda _0 )\bar \Psi /\bar \phi (0) = 0$
(1)
. Conditions (1) and (2) constitute the generalized Kirchhoff boundary condition at the vertex for the Schrödinger operator on a thin junction and remain valid for the corresponding 1D model. We compare this with the previous result by Kuchment and Zeng obtained by the variational technique for the Neumann Laplacian on a shrinking quantum network.

For the absolute value |C|=(C*C)1/2 and the Hilbert-Schmidt norm ∥CHS=(trC*C)1/2 of an operatorC, the following inequality is proved for any bounded linear operatorsA andB on a Hilbert space $$|| |A|---|B| ||_{HS} \leqq 2^{1/2} ||A - B||_{HS} $$ . The corresponding inequality for two normal state ? and ψ of a von Neumann algebraM is also proved in the following form: $$d(\varphi ,\psi ) \leqq ||\xi (\varphi ) - \xi (\psi )|| \leqq 2^{1/2} d(\varphi ,\psi )$$ . Here ξ(χ) denotes the unique vector representative of a state χ in a natural positive coneP ? forM, andd(?, ψ) denotes the Bures distance defined as the infimum (which is also the minimum) of the distance of vector representatives of ? and ψ. In particular, $$||\xi (\varphi _1 ) - \xi (\varphi _2 )|| \leqq 2^{1/2} ||\xi _1 - \xi _2 ||$$ for any vector representatives ξ j of ? j ,j=1, 2.  相似文献

As the temperature is lowered we get an interesting temperature region? d?T?? 2/mr 0 2 (where? d is the quantum degeneracy temperature,m the mass of a gas molecule,r 0 the radius of interparticle interaction) in which the thermal de Broglie wavelength Λ of a particle is considerably greater than its sizer 0 though Λ turns out to be less than the mean interparticle distanceN ?1/3?Λ?r 0. Although the gas molecules obey the classical Boltzmann-Maxwell statistics the system as a whole begins to exhibit a larger number of essentially quantum macroscopic collective features. One of the most interesting and dramatic features is the possibility of propagation of weakly damped spin oscillations in spin-polarized gases (external magnetic field, optical pumping). Such oscillations can propagate both in the low-frequencyθτ?1 regime and the high frequencyθτ?1. The last case is highly non-trivial for a Boltzmann gas with a short range interaction between particles. The weakness of relaxation damping of spin modes implies that the degree of polarization is high enough 1>/|α|?|a|/Λ, whereα=(N +?N ?)N,a is the two-particles-wave scattering length. Under these conditions the spectrum of magnons has the form (Bashkin 1981, 1984; Lhuillier and Laloe 1982) 1 $$\omega = \Omega _H + \left( {{{K^2 \nu _{\rm T}^2 } \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {{K^2 \nu _{\rm T}^2 } {\Omega _{int} }}} \right. \kern-\nulldelimiterspace} {\Omega _{int} }}} \right)\left( {{{1 - i} \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {{1 - i} {\Omega _{int} }}} \right. \kern-\nulldelimiterspace} {\Omega _{int} }}\tau } \right), \Omega _{int} = {{ - 4\pi ahN\alpha } \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {{ - 4\pi ahN\alpha } m}} \right. \kern-\nulldelimiterspace} m}, \nu _{\rm T}^2 = {T \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {T m}} \right. \kern-\nulldelimiterspace} m}$$ where Ω H is the Larmor precession frequency for spins in the magnetic fieldH. Collisionless Landau damping restricts the region of applicability of (1) with not too large wave vectorsKv T?|Ωint|. The existence of collective spin waves has been experimentally confirmed in NMR-experiments with gaseous atomic hydrogen H↑ (Johnsonet al 1984). The presence of undamped spin oscillations means automatically the existence of long range correlations for transverse magnetization. Such correlations decrease with the distance according to the power law 2 $$\delta _{ik} \left( r \right) = 2\left| a \right|\frac{{\left( {\beta N\alpha } \right)^2 }}{\gamma }\delta _{ik} $$ . Hereβ is the molecule magnetic moment. Spin waves being even damped can nevertheless reveal themselves atT?? 2/mr 0 2 or when |α|?r 0/Λ. The first experimental discovery or damped spin waves in gaseous3He↑ has been done in Nacheret al 1984. Oscillations of magnetization can also propagate in some condensed media such as liquid3He-4He solutions, semimagnetic semiconductors etc.  相似文献

We consider the nonlinear elliptic degenerate equation (1) $$ - x^2 \left( {\frac{{\partial ^2 u}}{{\partial x^2 }} + \frac{{\partial ^2 u}}{{\partial y^2 }}} \right) + 2u = f(u)in\Omega _a ,$$ where $$\Omega _a = \left\{ {(x,y) \in \mathbb{R}^2 ,0< x< a,\left| y \right|< a} \right\}$$ for some constanta>0 andf is aC functions on ? such thatf(0)=f′(0)=0. Our main result asserts that: ifuC \((\bar \Omega _a )\) satisfies (2) $$u(0,y) = 0for\left| y \right|< a,$$ thenx ?2 u(x,y)∈C \(\left( {\bar \Omega _{a/2} } \right)\) and in particularuC \(\left( {\bar \Omega _{a/2} } \right)\) .  相似文献

The extension of the tensor potentialS 12 V T (r) to the case of a nonlocal interaction is shown to be $$\begin{gathered} V_T (r{\text{,}}r'{\text{) = }}S_{12}^N F(r,r') \hfill \\ {\text{ = }}\tfrac{{\text{1}}}{{\text{2}}}[9(\rho \cdot \rho '{\text{)(}}\sigma _1 \cdot \rho \sigma _2 \cdot \rho '{\text{ + }}\sigma _1 \cdot \rho '\sigma _2 \cdot \rho {\text{)}} - 2(\sigma _1 \cdot \sigma _2 )]F(r,r'), \hfill \\ \end{gathered}$$ where ρ=r/r. This potential has the necessary invariance properties provided thatF(r, r′)=F(r′, r). With this potential andF(r, r′) taken to have a rank-one separable form, the behaviour of the model-deuteron radius with respect to the strength of the tensor nonlocality is investigated. It is found that the model radius decreases as the tensor nonlocality becomes more attractive. This is consistent with recent work which considers only central nonlocality.  相似文献

We calculate theon-shell fermion wave-function renormalization constantZ 2 of a general gauge theory, to two loops, inD dimensions and in an arbitrary covariant gauge, and find it to be gauge-invariant. In QED this is consistent with the dimensionally regularized version of the Johnson-Zumino relation: d logZ 2/da 0=i(2)D e 0 2 d D k/k 4=0. In QCD it is, we believe, a new result, strongly suggestive of the cancellation of the gauge-dependent parts of non-abelian UV and IR anomalous dimensions to all orders. At the two-loop level, we find that the anomalous dimension F of the fermion field in minimally subtracted QCD, withN L light-quark flavours, differs from the corresponding anomalous dimension of the effective field theory of a static quark by the gauge-invariant amount

The results of the measurements of radiative decays of ρ and ω mesons with the Neutral Detector at thee + e ? collider VEPP-2M are presented. The branching ratio of the decay ω→π 0γ was measured with higher than in previous experiments accuracy: $${\rm B}(\omega \to \pi ^0 \gamma ) = 0.0888 \pm 0.0062$$ . The ρ0π 0 γ branching ratio was measured for the first time: $$B(\rho ^0 \to \pi ^0 \gamma ) = (7.9 \pm 2.0) \cdot 10^{ - 4} $$ . The decays ρ, ω→ηγ were studied. Their branching ratios with the assumption of constructive ρ?ω interference are: $$\begin{gathered} B(\omega \to \eta \gamma ) = (7.3 \pm 2.9) \cdot 10^{ - 4} , \hfill \\ B(\rho \to \eta \gamma ) = (4.0 \pm 1.1) \cdot 10^{ - 4} \hfill \\ \end{gathered} $$ . The branching ratios of ρ, ω→ηγ and ω→e + e ? decays were also measured: $$\begin{gathered} B(\omega \to \pi ^ + \pi ^ - \pi ^0 ) = 0.8942 \pm 0.0062, \hfill \\ B(\omega \to e^ + e^ - ) = (7.14 \pm 0.36) \cdot 10^{ - 5} \hfill \\ \end{gathered} $$ .
