Three new zinc bis(dipyrromethene) complexes have been isolated in the preparation of meso-tetramesitylporphyrin by the Rothemund zinc template based condensation process.

Starting from 2-bromo-5-methoxyacetophenone, an unambiguous synthesis of the selenium analog of serotonine is described with a 25% overall yield. Application of the Wittig reaction to selenoindoxyls appears to be a successful pathway to products of this nature.

Synthèse et réactivité de dihydrotriazines et de dihydrotriazolotriazines

Generally, 4,5-dihydro-3triazinones have been prepared by a basic hydrolysis of 3-methylmercapto-4,5-dihydrotriazines. Of the serveral methylation methods, namely, diazomethane, methyliodide, dimethyl sulfate all in the presence of sodium methylate or silver carbonate, only methyl bromide in the presence of phase transfer catalyst was sucessful in producing all of the N-2 and/or N-4 methylate compounds. Two unequivocal syntheses of dihydrotriazolo[4,3-b]triazine are reported.

Condensation of azetidinones 2a and 2b with mercaptan 3 gave respectively compound 10 or a 1:1 mixture of 17 and 17 ′. Bromination of 10 , afforded cis and trans-bromohydrins 13a and of 17 and 17 ′ cis and trans-bromohydrins 18a . Acetylation and reduction with zinc and acetic acid of these bromohydrins gave cephems 4a or 4b and 4b ′ respectively.

Synthesis of Evernin Two syntheses of the depside evernin 6 are described. Condensation of methyl acetoacetate and methyl crotonate followed by aromatization and reduction with Raney-Ni led to methyl orsellinate (3) . The condensation of everninic acid (4) , obtained by partial methylation of 3 and saponification of the methyl ester, with methyl 2, 4-dihydroxy-3, 6-dimethylbenzoate (methyl β-orcin carboxylate) (5) in presence of cyclohexylcarbodiimide gave evernin ( 6 ). In a second syntheis methyl dihydroorsellinate (1) was regiospecifically converted into its 4-methyl enol ether and aromatized via the benzene selenenyl derivative to yield methyl evernate (7) . Benzylation followed by saponification gave the free acid 8 . Methyl β-orcin carboxylate (5) was synthesized in an analogous way from methyl 3,6-dimethyl-2,4-dioxocyclohexanecarboxylate. Condensation of 8 with the methyl ester 5 by treatment with trifluoroacetic anhydride in toluene yielded 9 , which could be converted into evernin ( 6 ) by hydrogenolysis of the benzyl ether.

Nouvelle méthode de synthèse de thiazolopyridines

It has been established that the direct condensation between aromatic and aliphatic thioesters and the variously generated anion of amino-chloropyridines represents the best method for the synthesis of thiazolo-pyridines. The transient thioamides, sometimes isolated, can be easily converted chemically or photochemically into the desired fused heterocycles.

Polyethylene macromolecular free radical initiators, obtained by ozonization, are used to prepare graft copolymers with methyl methacrylate, styrene and vinyl chloride. The reactions parameters are the number of initiator groups (found by DPPH), peroxide and hydroperoxide proportions (respectively 36 and 64%), decomposition rate (K_d at 90° 10⁻¹sec⁻¹) and monomer concentration. The molecular structure of these copolymers is defined.

The experimental study of variations in electrical conductivity of WO_3−x vs oxygen partial pressure and temperature shows evidence of interstitial W⁶_i· as being the major defect. Under certain conditions, point defects can order themselves in extended defects. The behavior of electrical conductivity can be interpreted in terms of thermodynamic equilibrium between point defects and extended defects, the latter leading to structural modifications beyond a certain departure from stoichiometry. Moreover, WO_3−x shows evidence of quenching phenomena allowing it to keep electrical features characteristic of high temperatures down to room temperature. These properties may explain discrepancies between previous data.     

Synthèse de 2-pyrimidinylphénols et de 2-pyrazolylphénols

New pyrimidynylphenols 9a-e and pyrazolylphenols 10a-e substituted with an aminomethl moiety are described. These compounds were prepared in good yields by use of guanidine corbonate and hydrazine hydrate on the aminomethylchromones 8a-e . Aminomethylchromones were readily obtained via the Mannich reaction on chromone 5 . Optimized yields of chromone 5 and 3-aminomethylchromones 8a-e are reported.     

Spectrométrie de Masse de Benzylidène—Acétals d'Hexopyranosides

The electron impact fragmentation is reported for 46 benzylidene acetals of hexopyranosides of the allo, altro, galacto, gluco, gulo and manno series and some of their mono-oxidation products. Besides the molecular ion, which is always present and is usually part of a triplet the previously reported ion formed by cleavage of C-1? C-2, C-4? C-5 and the benzylic C? O(C-4) bond is observed. Evidence is given for two complementary ruptures (C-1? C-2, C-3? C-4; C-1? O-5, C-2? C-3, fragmentations whose intensities depend on the substituents or functional groups present in the molecule. In most cases these fragmentations allow an assignment of the substitution mode of these 1,3,6-trioxa-bicyclo-[4.4.0]decane systems. The limitations of this method are discussed.     

Réactivité de spirochromènes et de mérocyanines azahétérocycliques vis-à-vis de quelques agents nucléophiles

Under the action of nucleophile reagents such as water, hydrogen sulfide and sodium borohydride, the saturated azaheterocyclic spirochromenes are opened either on the azaheterocyclic side or on the benzopyran side or on both parts simultaneously. The merocyanines are either partially reduced or decomposed by the sodium borohydride.

Treatment of 3-C-cyano-1,2:5,6-di-O-isopropylidene-3-O-(toluene-p-sulfonyl)-α-D -allofurannose with AlLiH₄ or RMgX yields spiro-aziridines with two identical substituents on C(3′) (? H, ? CH₃, ? C₂H₅). Reactions of these products and their derivatives are briefly described. If the C(3′) substituents are protons, the aziridine ring is easily opened. In acidic media (HCl), an amino-sugar containing the branched chain ? CH₂Cl is produced; with hydrogenation, a ? CH₃ branched chain results. If the C(3′) substituents are methyl groups, the aziridine ring cannot be opened neither with HCl nor with hydrogen. The acetylated derivative of this latter compound rearranges to the corresponding allylamide with HCl. For both types of spiro-aziridine, the nitrous deamination leads to the corresponding alkene.
