The lasing in an end-pumped gain guided index-antiguided (GG-IAG) Yb3+-doped silicate glass fiber with a 200 μm diameter core is demonstrated. Laser beams with similar beam propagation factors M 2 and mode field diameters W 0 (>160 μm) were observed at the output end of the GG-IAG fibers under different pump powers, which indicated that single mode behavior and excellent beam quality were achieved during propagation. Furthermore, the laser amplifier characteristics in the present Yb3+-doped GG-IAG fiber were also evaluated.  相似文献

The rare earth-doped active fibers not only have ten thousands of square-micron core-area but also deliver a laser with near-diffraction-limited beam quality. However, they have been studied little. In this paper, we design a 200-μm-corediameter Yb~(3+)-doped photonic crystal fiber with a large pitch in the air-hole cladding region. Simulations demonstrate that only fundamental mode(FM) with a mode field area(MFA) of ~ 28000 μm~2 can be amplified and propagated at the gain saturation, and the beam quality M~2 is about 1.5. It is predicted that almost 105 m J single-pulse energy is available from such a 1.5-meter-length fiber.  相似文献

Employing 0.3 nm diameter single-walled carbon nanotubes(SWCNTs)as saturable absorbers,we demonstrate a passively mode-locked fiber laser operating at 1950 nm.The 0.3 nm diameter SWCNTs are prepared by pyrolyzing dipropylamine in the channels of zeolite crystals Mg APO-11(AEL).The laser pumped by a 1550 nm laser source produces 972 fs pulses with a spectral width at half-maximum of 4.2 nm and a repetition rate of 21.05 MHz,an average output power of 2.3 mW corresponding to the maximum pump power of 420 mW with a 10%output coupler.  相似文献

In this paper, we report a monolithic fiber side-pumping coupler that allows for very large mode area double clad fiber designs. This coupler is constituted of a multi-mode pump fiber and a double clad fiber (DCF). The pump power is coupled to the DCF through the side of DCF. The pump coupling peak power of 163.7 W @ 560 ??s with the coupling efficiency of 98.0% is achieved, and the signal coupling energy of 10 mJ @ 10 ns (??1 MW @ 10 ns) with the coupling efficiency of 96.3% is obtained, when the core diameter of the DCF is 100 ??m. Furthermore, this side-pumping coupler is successfully applied to a high peak power pulse all-fiber laser with the output energy of over 10 mJ @ 10 ns.  相似文献

Single mode laser action in a diode-pumped gain-guided, index- antiguided Nd3+-doped phosphate glass fiber having a 200-μm-diameter core is demonstrated. Near-Gaussian beam quality was maintained, even when pumped up to four times the threshold pump power, indicating robust lowest order mode oscillation. Subtle differences associated with the effectiveness of diode pumping gain-guided, index-antiguided fibers are discussed. PACS 42.55.Wd; 42.55.Xi  相似文献

High-power ultrafast fiber lasers operating at the 2 μm wavelength are extremely desirable for material processing, laser surgery, and nonlinear optics. Here we fabricated large-core(LC) double-cladding Tm-doped silica fiber via the sol-gel method. The sol-gel-fabricated Tm-doped silica(SGTS) fiber had a large core diameter of 30 μm with a high refractive index homogeneity(Δn=2 × 10~(-4)). With the newly developed LC SGTS fiber as the gain fiber, high-power mode-locking was realized. By using a semiconductor saturable absorber mirror(SESAM) as a mode locker, the LC SGTS fiber oscillator generated mode-locked pulses with an average output power as high as 1.0 W and a pulse duration of 23.9 ps at the wavelength of 1955.0 nm. Our research results show that the self-developed LC Tm-doped silica fiber via the sol-gel method is a promising gain fiber for generating high-power ultrafast lasers in the 2 μm spectral region.  相似文献

We report here a single-pass 1.56 μm fiber gas Raman laser in a deuterium-filled hollow-core fiber and a 2.86 μm cascade fiber gas Raman laser with methane in the second stage. The maximum output powers at 1.56 and 2.86 μm are 27 and 8.5 m W with Raman conversion efficiency of 30% and 42%, respectively. The results offer a new method to produce a 1.5 μm fiber source and prove the potential of the cascade fiber gas Raman laser in extending the available wavelength.  相似文献

A high-power diode-cladding-pumped Ho3?-doped fluoride glass fiber laser operating in cascade mode is demonstrated. The ?I?→?I? and ?I?→?I? laser transitions produced 0.77 W at a measured slope efficiency of 12.4% and 0.24 W at a measured slope efficiency of 5.2%, respectively. Using a long fiber length, which forced a large threshold for the ?I?→?I? transition, a wavelength of 3.002 μm was measured at maximum output power, making this system the first watt-level fiber laser operating in the mid-IR.  相似文献

High birefringent and low confinement loss of photonic crystal fiber is reported at wavelength 1.55 μm via Full-Vectorial Finite Element Method (FV-FEM). By suitable designing of three ring hexagonal solid core fiber and also by introducing a pair of large holes along x-axis near the core region, high modal birefringence 3 × 10−3 and low confinement loss 0.019 dB/km are found at wavelength 1.55 μm.  相似文献

High-power operation of diode-pumped fiber lasers at wavelength near 2 μm are demonstrated with short length of heavily Tm^3+-doped silica glass fibers. With 7-cm long fiber, a laser at near 2 μm is obtained with the threshold of 135 mW, maximum output power of 1.09 W, and slope efficiency of 9.6% with respect to the launched power from a laser diode at 790 nm. The output stability of this fiber laser is within 5%. The dependence of the performance of fiber lasers on the operation temperature and cavity configuration parameters is also investigated.  相似文献

Most of today’s industrial Nd:YAG lasers use fibre-optic beam delivery. In such lasers, fibre core diameter is an important consideration in deploying a beam delivery system. Using a smaller core diameter fibre allows higher irradiances at focus position, less degradation of beam quality, and a larger stand-off distance. In this work, we have put efforts to efficiently deliver the laser output of ‘ceramic reflector’-based long pulse Nd:YAG laser through a 200 μm core diameter optical fibre and successfully delivered up to 60 J of pulse energy with 90% transmission efficiency, using a GRADIUM (axial gradient) plano-convex lens to sharply focus down the beam on the end face of the optical fibre and fibre end faces have been cleaved to achieve higher surface damage thresholds.  相似文献

We have demonstrated the generation of 400 μW of power at ~18 μm by difference-frequency mixing the 1038 and 1105 nm from a two-color, chirped pulse amplification Yb fiber system. A two-color seed is selected from a continuum source and amplified to 300 mW of total power in a two-stage Yb fiber amplifier.  相似文献

A robust design for a photonic crystal fiber (PCF) based on pure silica with small normal dispersion and high nonlinear coefficient for its dual concentric core structure is presented. This design is suitable for flat broadband supercontinuum (SC) generation in the 1.55-μm region. The numerical results show that the nonlinear coefficient of the proposed eight-ring PCF is 33.8 W -1 ·km -1 at 1550 nm.Ultraflat dispersion with a value between -1.65 and -0.335 ps/(nm·km) is obtained ranging from 1375 to 1625 nm.The 3-dB bandwidth of the SC is 125 nm (1496–1621 nm),with a fiber length of 80 m and a corresponding input peak power of 43.8 W.The amplitude noise is considered to be related to SC generation. For practical fabrication, the influence of the random imperfections of airhole diameters on dispersion and nonlinearity is discussed to verify the robustness of our design.  相似文献

We propose and demonstrate a passively mode-locked fiber laser operating at 1951.8 nm using a commercial thulium-doped fiber(TDF) laser, a homemade double-clad thulium–ytterbium co-doped fiber(TYDF)as the gain media, and a multi-walled carbon nanotube(MWCNT) based saturable absorber(SA). We prepare the MWCNT composite by mixing a homogeneous solution of MWCNTs with a diluted polyvinyl alcohol(PVA) polymer solution and then drying it at room temperature to form a film. The film is placed between two fiber connectors as a SA before it is integrated into a laser ring cavity. The cavity consists of a 2 m long TDF pumped by a 800 nm laser diode and a 15 m long homemade TYDF pumped by a 905 nm multimode laser diode. A stable mode-locking pulse with a repetition rate of 34.6 MHz and a pulse width of 10.79 ps is obtained when the 905 nm multimode pump power reaches 1.8–2.2 W, while the single-mode 800 nm pump power is fixed at 141.5 m W at all times. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first reported mode-locked fiber laser using a MWCNT-based SA.  相似文献

The interaction of a pulse from a TEA laser with the free liquid surface of water and chloroform, is recorded by high-speed photography. The phenomena is similar to the high velocity impact of a projectile with a liquid or solid surface.A vapour cloud, above the liquid, expands with an initial velocity of 1500 m s−1 and a violent disturbance below the liquid surface is observed. In the case of chloroform, a cloud of small bubbles is produced. A shock wave model is proposed to account for the disturbance below the surface of the liquid.  相似文献

A large-mode-area all-solid photonic bandgap fiber with a seven-cell core and five high-index rod rings is investigated. Numerical simulations show that an effective area of more than 500 μm(2), a bending loss of less than 0.1 dB/m at a bending radius of 10 cm and effectively single-mode operation can be achieved simultaneously. A core diameter of 44.8 μm and an effective area of 650 μm(2) at 1064 nm are achieved in a fabricated fiber. Bending loss at 1064 nm is 0.09 dB/m at a bending radius of 7 cm. Effectively single-mode operation is also realized at a bending radius of 10 cm.  相似文献

1.5 μm synchronous heralded single photon source (HSPS) is experimentally demonstrated based on spontaneously four wave-mixing in liquid nitrogen cooled dispersion shifted fiber. Experimental results show that both preparation efficiency and conditional second order correlation function g(2)(0) increase with pump light level. Between the two important parameters, tradeoff should be taken to obtain high quality fiber based synchronous HSPS. A HSPS with preparation efficiency of >60% and g(2)(0)<0.06 is achieved, multi-photon probability of which is reduced by a factor of >16 compared with the Poissonian light sources. Experimental results show a great potential of the fiber based synchronous HSPS for quantum information applications.  相似文献

We report what we believe to be the first experimental demonstration of coherent beam combining of two fiber amplifiers in a 100 ns pulse regime using a signal leak between the pulses. Pulses of ~100 W stimulated-Brillouin-scattering limited peak power are combined with 95% efficiency, a residual phase error of λ/27, and no significant beam quality degradation.  相似文献
