We propose an ultra-wideband optical diode device based on two-dimensional square-lattice photonic crystals. For the device,the odd mode is completely transmitted in one direction and converted to the fundamental even mode,but completely reflected in the other direction. The operation bandwidth of the device is preserved within a rather wide range of frequencies,which is over 6.5% of the central frequency. A directional coupler and 90° bend are utilized as the composite function device with mode filter and mode converter. It is possible that the photonic crystal device can help to construct on-chip optical logical devices and benefit greatly to the optical systems with multiple spatial modes.  相似文献

By making photonic crystals in ferroelectric and ferromagnetic materials,field-provoked tunability of photonic crystals is broadening the interest in new applications of on-chip photonic devices.We report a nano-precise fabrication of various designs of photonic crystals in these non-conventional materials using the focused ion beam milling technique.Standard methods are developed and parameters for different materials are calibrated.Optical responses such as bandgaps and polarization status changing from planar film waveguide system with these patterns have been examined on ferromagnetic materials.  相似文献

This paper describes elaboration of two dimensional photonic crystal structures based on Thue–Morse sequence. Our results establish that the optical properties of these aperiodic multilayer systems can be tailored by adjusting either the radius of some cells of the proposed structure or defect characteristics. We introduce a resonant cavity in the proposed structure to select desirable wavelengths for filtering. Bandwidth of selected wavelengths are about 1 nm and suitable for communication applications. Also, our simulations show that efficiency of the proposed structure is enough. The total footprint of proposed filter is 331.24 μm2, therefore it is suitable to be integrated in all optical chips.  相似文献

This paper presents vehicle detection and tracking algorithms based on real-time background (RTB) and phase-correlation (PC) in the video sequence of urban highway with fixed camera. Firstly moving objects are obtained by subtracting RTB from serial images. After classification, PC is used to determine corresponding regions of moving objects between consecutive frames. The problems of vehicles' merging and splitting, sudden stop, and restart are also considered. Experiments show that the method is practical and can realize real-time detection and tracking of vehicles on highway.  相似文献

A 4 × 4 multiple-input multiple-output coherent microwave photonic(MWP) link to transmit four wireless signals with an identical microwave center frequency over a single optical wavelength based on optical independent sideband(OISB) modulation and optical orthogonal modulation with an improved spectral efficiency is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. At the transmitter, the OISB modulation and optical orthogonal modulation are implemented to generate an OISB signal using a dual-parallel Mach–Zehnder modulator(DPMZM) driven by four microwave orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing(OFDM) signals with an identical microwave center frequency. At the receiver, the OISB signal is coherently detected at a coherent receiver where a free-running local oscillator(LO) laser source is employed. Digital signal processing is then used to recover the four OFDM signals, to eliminate the phase noise from the transmitter laser source and the LO laser source, and to cancel the unstable wavelength difference between the wavelengths of the transmitter laser source and the LO laser source. Error-free transmission of three 16 quadrature amplitude modulation(16-QAM) 1 Gbps OFDM signals and one 16-QAM 1.5 Gbps OFDM signal at a microwave center frequency of 2.91 GHz over a 10 km single-mode fiber is experimentally demonstrated.  相似文献

A novel optical fiber refractive index (RI) sensor, which is based on an intrinsic Fabry–Perot interferometer (IFPI) formed by a section of hollow-core photonic crystal fiber (HCPCF) and standard single mode fibers (SMF), is proposed. The external refractive index is determined according to the maximum fringe contrast of the interference fringes in the reflective spectrum of the sensor. The RI response performance is demonstrated for the measurement of the different RI solutions. The experimental data agree well with the theoretical results. Also the RI resolution and repeatability of ∼1.5 × 10−5 and ±0.5% in the linear measurement region, are achieved. In addition, the temperature response is tested from 20 °C to 120 °C, which exhibits excellent thermal stability. Therefore, such an HCPCF-based F–P sensor provides a practical way to measure RI with non-temperature compensation.  相似文献

We demonstrate a 7-bit photonic true-time-delay (TTD) system which uses an 8 × 8 micro-optical-electro- mechanical system (MOEMS) optical switch for phased array antennas (PAAs) beamforming applications. The switch controls the optical signal to pass by the fiber delay lines (FDLs) of different lengths. Different time delays between adjacent channels are obtained due to the chromatic dispersion of FDLs. Therefore, the system cannot be disturbed by the environment. The measured time delay responses are nearly linear with the wavelength spacing between optical carriers as well as the lengths of FDLs, which agrees well with the theoretical analysis.  相似文献

We have studied a function-lock strategy for all-optical logic gate (AOLG) utilizing the cross-polarization modulation (CPM) effect in a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA).By monitoring the power of logic light,the strategy realized controllable methods to capture OR and NOR functions and switch between them.The strategy has been successfully applied in experiment with 10-Gb/s not-return-to-zero (NRZ) signals,which has a high success-rate above 95% and ensures the high extinction ratio of result light above 11.4 dB.Every step in the strategy has definite numeric evaluation,which provides the potential of automatic implementation.  相似文献

A variant of the Hänsch–Couillaud technique for locking the pump laser frequency to a cavity-enhanced optical frequency doubler is presented. In contrast to the original scheme in which the pump laser light reflected by the enhancement cavity is monitored, the error signal for locking is obtained by polarization analysis of the light transmitted by the cavity. The cavity serves as a spectral and spatial filter for the pump beam, making the transmission-mode locking method particularly useful if the beam quality is poor. Experimental validation of the method is demonstrated by generating more than 190 mW of stable 461 nm light from a cavity-enhanced frequency doubler that is pumped by a diode laser system.  相似文献

A new multi-focus image fusion method using spatial frequency(SF)and morphological operators is proposed.Firstly,the focus regions are detected using SF criteria.Then the morphological operators are used to smooth the regions.Finally the fused image is constructed by cutting and pasting the focused regions of the source images.Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm performs well for multi-focus image fusion.  相似文献

This paper proposes an all-optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) multiplexer based on sawtooth wave driving LiNbO3 phase modulators by using serrodyne optical frequency translation. This multiplexer has high integration ability. The designing concept and implementation method have been discussed. A 16 × 10 Gb/s optical OFDM system is designed based on this multiplexer. Transmission characteristics, including tolerances of polarization mode dispersion (PMD) and nonlinear impairments have been studied numerically. Simulations show that the PMD tolerance is about 42 ps. The spectral efficiency reaches 1 bit/s/Hz with binary modulation format.  相似文献

We investigate by numerical simulation the compression of subpicosecond pulses in two-dimensional nonlinear photonic crystal (PC) waveguides. The compression originates from the generation of high-order optical solitons through the interplay of the huge group-velocity dispersion and the enhanced self-phase modulation in nonlinear PC waveguides.Both the formation of Bragg grating solitons and gap solitons can lead to efficient pulse compression. The compression factors under different excitation power densities and the optimum length for subpicosecond pulse compression have been determined. As a compressor, the total length of the nonlinear PC waveguide is only ten micrometres and therefore can be easily incorporated into PC integrated circuits.  相似文献

We demonstrate a cost effective, linearly tunable fiber optical parametric oscillator based on a home-made photonic crystal fiber pumped with a mode-locked ytterbium-doped fiber laser, providing linely tuning ranges from 1018 nm to 1038 nm for the idler wavelength and from 1097 nm to 1117 nm for the signal wavelength by tuning the pump wavelength and the cavity length. In order to obtain the desired fiber with a zero dispersion wavelength around 1060 rim, eight sam- ples of photonic crystal fibers with gradually changed structural parameters are fabricated for the reason that it is difficult to accurately customize the structural dimensions during fabrication. We verify the usability of the fabricated fiber experimen- tally via optical parametric generation and conclude a successful procedure of design, fabirication, and verification. A seed source of home-made all-normal-dispersion mode-locked ytterbium-doped fiber laser with 38.57 ps pulsewidth around the 1064 nm wavelength is used to pump the fiber optical parametric oscillator. The wide picosecond pulse pump laser enables a larger walk-off tolerance between the pump light and the oscillating light as well as a longer photonic crystal fiber of 20 m superior to the femtosecond pulse lasers, resulting in a larger parametric amplification and a lower threshold pump power of 15.8 dBm of the fiber optical parametric oscillator.  相似文献

A 360° light field 3D display system is presented, which consists of a liquid crystal display, a novel triplet lenses array, and a holographic functional screen(HFS). The mapping relationship among pixels, 3D objects, and viewing positions are investigated. The aberration analysis of the single lens is carried out both in the simulation and the experiment, which shows that it cannot provide an excellent 3D image to the viewers. In order to suppress the aberrations, "the primary aberration theory" and "the damped least-squares method" are used for optical analysis and lens design. A 3D image with aberration correction can be viewed around the proposed display system.  相似文献

A hybrid two-step attack scheme that combines the chosen-plaintext attack (CPA) and the known-plaintext attack (KPA) algorithms is proposed to acquire the secret keys of the optical cryptosystem based on double-random phase–amplitude encoding (DRPAE) technique. By implementing our presented attack, an opponent can obtain not only the estimated solutions of the two random phase keys but also the accurate solution of the amplitude modulator (AM), which is introduced to the encryption process and regarded as an additional key to enhance the security level of the DRPAE-based cryptosystem. The validity and effectiveness of this attack strategy is analyzed theoretically and then verified by computer simulations.  相似文献

A model for calculating loss and crosstalk in WDM passive optical network based on spectral slicing is proposed in this paper. Through theoretical analysis and numerical calculation, the relationship between loss or crosstalk and the parameters of the system, such as the bandwidth of the light-source, the parameters of the multiplexer, the number of channels and the fraction of channel misalignment, was demonstrated.  相似文献

A Cs vapor cell-based atomic clock that uses a lin‖lin pumping scheme with dispersion detection is reported. This atomic clock shows potential for high performance because of its high contrast pumping scheme, and for miniaturization because of its simple architecture. The experimental setup and optimal operating parameters for the clock are introduced.The current fractional frequency stability is measured to be 1.3 × 10~(-12)/■ up to 20s and reaches 3.1 × 10~(-13) at 200 s. We have thoroughly investigated the related noise sources that affect clock frequency stability at the 1s and 100s levels. The investigation shows that the laser frequency noise limits the clock frequency stability significantly. The clock performance can be further improved by technically upgrading the laser frequency stabilization setup.  相似文献
