研究了无线激光通信(FSO)与传统激光通信的区别,编制了一套FSO物理层收发协议。采用现场可编程门阵列(FPGA)完成收发机与外部电路的数据通信,利用先入先出(FIFO)存储器完成收发协议与外部系统的接口。设计的物理层收发协议主要完成发送数据的编码、串行化以及接收数据的解串行化和解码。仿真实验结果表明:设计的收发协议可实现在40 Mbps通信速率下的稳定工作,证明了该收发协议设计的可行性。  相似文献

Free space optical (FSO) communication is an upgraded supplement to the existing wireless technologies. FSO technology provides vast modulation bandwidth, unlicensed spectrum, cost effective deployment, low power consumption and less mass requirement. Today, researchers are preliminary focused to use the free space communication systems for inter satellites links. In this paper, the performance analysis of FSO communication link in weak atmospheric turbulence has been analyzed for different atmospheric transmission windows using OOK modulation. The analysis has been done using bit error rate as the performance metric. The effect of attenuation on the link performance has been investigated by varying distance between transmitter and receiver for a given power and data rate. Further, BER performance analysis has been carried out for varying data rate and transmitted power. Also, the effect of attenuation on received optical power has been studied. The work has been performed in OptSim environment.  相似文献

Free space optics (FSO) is a promising communication technique for various types of services in the optical access network. Single beam FSO system in tropical rainy weather is vulnerable to atmospheric rain attenuation, so it is necessary to have precise power law parameters of rain attenuation in tropical regions. In this study, the power law parameters k, and α are estimated as 2.03 and 0.74, respectively for the FSO applications in tropical South-East Asian weather. These parameters were evaluated by using least square mean equation (LSME) method with Levenberg–Marquardt optimization based on the one year collected heavy rain data. The obtained parameter values for tropical weather are contributed to improve link performance for high-speed networks.  相似文献

We present an experiment where mid-infrared radiation is detected indirectly via the second-order non-linear process of sum frequency generation. The mid-infrared sources used for the experiment are quantum cascade lasers, and we use a pump wavelength that yields an up-converted wavelength within the detection window of Silicon avalanche photo diodes. Compared with direct detection using state-of-the-art mid-infrared semiconductor detectors, the detection scheme we propose in this paper has the advantages of greater bandwidth and lower noise equivalent power.  相似文献

The bandwidth density of error corrected free space optical interconnects is considered in this article. Analyses for the bandwidth density with and without error correcting codes are presented and compared. It is shown that the bandwidth density can be improved using error correcting codes with code rate as a design parameter. Moreover, it is shown that the fill factor of the detector array can be used as a parameter to further improve the bandwidth density for the coded system. Numerical results on the effect of using the code rate and fill factor to optimize the bandwidth density are presented and discussed.  相似文献

Taking two Laguerre-Gaussian beams with topological charge 1 = ±1 as an example, this paper studies the composite optical vortices formed by two noncollinear Laguerre-Gaussian beams with different phases, amplitudes, waist widths, off-axis distances, and their propagation in free space. It is shown by detailed numerical illustrative examples that the number and location of composite vortices at the waist plane are variable by varying the relative phase β, amplitude ratio η, waist width ratio ξ, or off-axis distance ratio μ. The net topological charge lnet is not always equal to the sum lsum of charges of the two component beams. The motion, creation and annihilation of composite vortices take place in the free-space propagation, and the net charge during the propagation remains unchanged and equals to the net charge at the waist plane.  相似文献

We report an investigation of pulse propagation through a recently proposed nonlinear amplifier composed of asymmetrical twin-core fibre. While the pulse is amplified and the associated noise is suppressed, we find that the pulse is strongly chirped. While the chirp in the centre of the pulse can be easily eliminated by inserting a short piece of dispersive fibre right after the amplifier, the chirp in the wings may remain and lead to the eventual destruction of the pulse. This residual chirp can be removed through a damped and radiative oscillation by judicious adjustment of the parameters of the amplifier and the dispersive fibre. Finally, we consider the effect of noise in the pulse. We discovered a threshold of the noise amplitude below which the noise is suppressed (which must be a characteristic asset of the nonlinear amplifier). Above the threshold, the noise tends to shift the centre of the pulse.  相似文献

Free space optics (FSO) has attracted a lot of attention for a variety of applications in telecommunications area, and it is dream of every researcher and telecommunication society to make it a real alternative solution for the last mile problem, to replace fiber optics. FSO is much preferred because of its low maintenance cost and deployment time. FSO with single-beam system is vulnerable to atmospheric attenuation, so to overcome this, a multiple-beam FSO transceiver system has become prominent and is usually used. In this paper, average rain attenuation is evaluated from the collected rain intensity data which are collected for a period of seven months, and implemented in the study concerning results relating link distance, and received optical power of using multiple-beam FSO system in tropical rainy weather. Comparison is made in terms of received optical power, geometrical losses, atmospheric losses, and bit error rate (BER) on using different number of optical beams, based on simulation at data rate of 1 Gb/s. From the results it is clear that the quality of received power is improved by using up to four beams, along with link distance up to 1141.2 m as compared to one-beam, two-beam, and three-beam, with link distances 833.3 m, 991.0 m, 1075.4 m, respectively.  相似文献

In this paper, simulation studies on an N+-InAs0.61Sb0.13P0.26/n0-InAs0.97Sb0.03/P+-InAs0.61Sb0.13P0.26 double heterostructure laser diode suitable for use as a source in a free space optical communication system at 3.7 μm at room temperature has been presented. The device structure has been characterized in terms of energy band diagram, electric field profile, and carrier concentration profile using ATLAS simulation tool from Silvaco. The current-voltage characteristics of the structure have been estimated taking into account the degeneracy effect. Atmospheric turbulence seriously degrades the performance of free space optical (FSO) communication systems, especially the coupling efficiency. In this paper, we propose a stochastic parallel gradient descent (SPGD) algorithm to compensate the atmospheric turbulence in FSO communication system. Theoretical analysis and work flow of the algorithm are given. Both simulation and experimental results indicate that the coupling efficiency can be increased from 12% to more than 80% after 270 iterations or more than threefold, which implies a significant improvement of the performance.  相似文献

The bit-error-rate (BER) performance of coherent free-space optical (FSO) links employing phase compensation techniques is investigated in weak non-Kolmogorov turbulence. Assuming that the amplitude fading and phase fluctuation follow lognormal model and Gaussian distribution respectively and using the expression of non-Kolmogorov turbulence in terms of Zernike polynomials, the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) at the coherent receiver is analyzed and as a special case, a new closed-form expression using chi-square distribution is obtained. Thus, the influence of different compensation modes and normalized receiver diameter on BER performance is evaluated and an optimum normalized receiver diameter is suggested to achieve the minimum BER. Moreover, the impact of outer scale L0 and the exponent value α in non-Kolmogorov spectrum is studied with the optimum diameter, which reveals that the BER has an obvious decrease with larger values of L0 and α.  相似文献

The propagation of arbitrary laser beams in free space is examined. For this purpose, starting with an incident field of arbitrary field distribution, the intensity at the receiver plane is formulated via Huygens Fresnel diffraction integral. Arbitrary source field profile is produced by decomposing the source into incremental areas (pixels). The received field through the propagation in free space is found by superposing the contributions from all source incremental areas. The proposed method enables us to evaluate the received intensity originating from any type of source field. Using the arbitrary beam excitation, intensity of various laser beams such as cos-Gaussian, cosh-Gaussian, general type beams are checked to be consistent with the already existing results in literature, and the received intensity distributions are obtained for some original arbitrary beam field profiles. Our received intensity formulation for the arbitrary source field profiles presented in this paper can find application in optics communication links, reflection from rough surfaces, optical cryptography and optical imaging systems.  相似文献
