We consider a ferromagnetic Ising spin system isomorphic to a lattice gas with attractive interactions. Using the Fortuin, Kasteleyn and Ginibre (FKG) inequalities we derive bounds on the decay of correlations between two widely separated sets of particles in terms of the decay of the pair correlation. This leads to bounds on the derivatives of various orders of the free energy with respect to the magnetic fieldh, and reciprocal temperature . In particular, if the pair correlation has an upper bound (uniform in the size of the system) which decays exponentially with distance in some neighborhood of (,h) then the thermodynamic free energy density (,h) andall the correlation functions are infinitely differentiable at (,h). We then show that when only pair interactions are present it is sufficient to obtain such a bound only ath=0 (and only in the infinite volume limit) for systems with suitable boundary conditions. This is the case in the two dimensional square lattice with nearest neighbor interactions for 0<0, where 0 –1 is the Onsager temperature at which (,h=0) has a singularity. For >0, (,h)/h is discontinuous ath=0, i.e. 0=c, where c –1 is the temperature below which there is spontaneous magnetization.Research supported by AFOSR Contract # F 44620-71-C-0013.  相似文献

For the Ising model with nearest neighbour interaction it is shown that the spin correlations A B - A B decrease exponentially asd(A, B) in a pure phase when the temperature is well belowT c. This is used to prove that the free energyF(,h) is infinitely differentiable in and has one sided derivatives inh of all orders forh=0. The bounds are also used to prove that the central limit theorem holds for several variables such as e.g. the total energy and the total magnetization of the system, the limit distribution being gaussian with variances determined by the second derivatives ofF(,h).  相似文献

We consider Glauber dynamics on a finite cube in d-dimensional lattice (d2), which is associated with basic Ising model at temperature T=1/1 under a magnetic field h > 0. We prove that if the effective magnetic field is positive, then the relaxation of the Glauber dynamics in the uniform norm is exponentially fast, uniformly over the size of underlying cube. The result covers the case of the free-boundary condition with arbitrarily small positive magnetic field. This paper is a continuation of an attempt initiated earlier by Schonmann and Yoshida to shed more light on the relaxation of the finite-volume Glauber dynamics when the thermodynamic parameter (, h) is so near the phase transition line, (, h); c < &h = 0, that the Dobrushin–Shlosman mixing condition is no longer available.  相似文献

The spin-two particle is described by a symmetric tensorh subject to the subsidiary conditionsh = h =0. Their covariant generalization and the wave equation have been obtained directly from the Eulerian variational equations by algebraic methods only. In addition to the tensor fieldh a symmetric third-rank tensor = as well as a vector fieldA have been added, neither of which enter in the final result. The Lagrangian function is taken as a linear sum of all combinations which can be constructed from these functions, as well as terms involving the curvature tensor and its two possible contractions. Variation with respect toh , andA independently gives the Euler equations. Combining the various trace equations and choice of arbitrary constants yields the subsidiary conditions, while the Euler equations themselves give the connection between the auxiliary functions and the tensorh as well as the generalization of the wave equationD D h + 2R h -R h -R h +g R h +Rh =m 2 h Finally, variation with respect tog yields the energy-momentum tensor.  相似文献

This paper concerns the properties of a symmetric barrier between two reservoirs. The barrier can passK conserved quantities. For an Ising ferromagnet with nearest-neighbour interactions of strengthK and surface magnetic fieldh, the surface free energy in the presence of a positively (or negatively) magnetized zero-field bulk phase is shown to be analytic inh for Reh<K–/, where =2.96 ... and is the inverse temperature. We present some new results on the region in the-h plane where the + spins percolate for the nearest neighbor Ising model. Our most complete results concern the Ising spin system with purely ferromagnetic interactions in a magnetic fieldH (or the corresponding lattice gas model with fugacityz=const. exp(–2mH) wherem is the magnetic moment of each spin). We show that, in the limit of an infinite lattice, (i) the free energy per site and the distribution functionsn s (x 1, ...,x s ; ,z) are analytic in the two variables andH if the reciprocal temperature >0 and the complex numberH is not a limit point of zeros of the grand partition function , and (ii) the Ursell functionsu s (x 1, ...,x s ; ,z) tend to 0 as s Max i, j |x i x j | if >0 and ReH0; in particular, if the interaction potential vanishes for separations exceeding some fixed cutoff value , then |u s |<C exp [(–2 m |ReH|+) s /] where is any small positive number andC is independent of s . Einstein's equations are rewritten in terms of a certain torsionless linear connection which differs, in general, from the Levi-Civita metric connection . The torsionless connection appears in a natural way as the canonical momentum of the gravitational field g . Einstein's equations have a simple interpretation in terms of the connection . We define a covariant and gauge-invariant generalization of the Wigner functions of particles with spins 1/2 and 0. The results recently obtained by van Enter, Fernandez, and Sokal on non-Gibbsianness of the measurev =T b ,h arising from the application of a single decimation transformationT b , with spacingb, to the Gibbs measure ,h , of the Ising model, for suitably chosen large inverse temperature and nonzero external fieldh, are critically analyzed. The entire sodium ion content of sodium alumina (Na1.67Mg0.67Al10.33O17) can be replaced with a variety of lanthanide ions by simple diffusion reactions at moderate temperatures (500–700°C). Lanthanide alumina crystals are hard, clear, chemically stable, and have well-defined crystal structures. The fluorescence spectrum of Nd3+ in alumina is similar to that in YAG. The lifetime of the4 F 3/2 state of Nd3+ in completely-exchanged alumina (350s at 1021 Nd3+ cm–3) is about 45% longer than in YAG (240s at 1020Nd3+ cm–3). The lanthanide aluminas may be of considerable interest as new phosphor and laser host materials.  相似文献

The results of an experimental investigation of the parameters of the surface helical instability (SHI) in germanium are presented. The dependence of the amplitude of the current oscillations of the helical wave and frequency on the electric E and magnetic B fields with E and B significantly exceeding the threshold values Et and Bt are presented for the case of nonequilibrium (for temperatures T < 343°K) and equilibrium (T 343°K) plasma. It is shown that for small supercriticality (E = (E-Et)/Et 1, = ( -t)/t 1) > the square of the amplitude of the current oscillations and the frequency shift are proportional to the supercriticality, i.e., the regime for excitation of SHI is soft.Translated from Izvestiya Vysshikh Uchebnykh Zavedenii, Fizika, No. 3, pp. 18–21, May, 1981.  相似文献

By using the [General Relativity + additional matter fields] formulation (which depends on a redefined metrich ) of metric theories of gravitation, the study of singularities characterized by incomplete nonspacelike geodesics is simplified, but may be used only if (at least) the non-spacelike geodesics of the original metricg are conserved under the transformation betweeng and the new metrich . In order that every class of geodesies of a diagonal Bianchi I metric correspond to the same class of geodesies of a diagonal metrich , it is necessary that the transformation between these two metrics be a constant (positive) conformal transformation. We analyse the implications of the previous results for the singularitiesg when the latter is a solution of theories with a quadratic or polynomial Lagrangian.  相似文献

In contrast to standard ECSK theory with the Brans-Dicke scalar field () nonminimally coupled to the curvature scalar, an additional new pseudo scalar term n E R (contraction between Levi-Civita pseudo tensor and curvature tensor) has been included in the Lagrangian. The new term is non-zero due to the non-symmetric nature of the connection and vanishes identically in the general theory of relativity. We show that there exists a nonsingular cosmological solution for a spatially flat (k=0) Robertson-Walker line element in the radiation era; therefore our model has no big bang.  相似文献

The equality of two critical points — the percolation thresholdp H and the pointp T where the cluster size distribution ceases to decay exponentially — is proven for all translation invariant independent percolation models on homogeneousd-dimensional lattices (d1). The analysis is based on a pair of new nonlinear partial differential inequalities for an order parameterM(,h), which forh=0 reduces to the percolation densityP — at the bond densityp=1–e in the single parameter case. These are: (1)MhM/h+M 2+MM/, and (2) M/|J|MM/h. Inequality (1) is intriguing in that its derivation provides yet another hint of a 3 structure in percolation models. Moreover, through the elimination of one of its derivatives, (1) yields a pair of ordinary differential inequalities which provide information on the critical exponents and . One of these resembles an Ising model inequality of Fröhlich and Sokal and yields the mean field bound 2, and the other implies the result of Chayes and Chayes that . An inequality identical to (2) is known for Ising models, where it provides the basis for Newman's universal relation and for certain extrapolation principles, which are now made applicable also to independent percolation.
