Monodisperse palladium phosphide nanoparticles (Pd–P NPs) with a smallest size ever reported of 3.9 nm were fabricated using cheap and stable triphenylphosphine as phosphorous source. After the deposition and calcination at 300 °C and 400 °C, the resulting Pd–P NPs increased in size to 4.0 nm and 4.8 nm, respectively. Notably, the latter NPs probably crystallized with a single phase of Pd3P0.95, which acted as a highly active catalyst in semi‐ and stereoselective hydrogenation of alkynes. X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis determined a positive shift of binding energy for Pd(3d) in Pd–P NPs compared to that in Pd on carbon. It indicated the electron flow from metal to phosphorus and the larger electron deficiency of Pd in Pd–P NPs, which suppressed palladium hydride formation and subsequently increased the selectivity. Thus, this result may also indicate the applications of Pd–P and other metal–P NPs in various selective hydrogenation reactions.  相似文献

Two different chitosan supported palladium based catalysts were prepared, wherein dispersed palladium nanoparticles were obtained via chemical reduction supported on chitosan (Pd/CTS) and amine functionalized modified chitosan (Pd/AFCTS). The catalytic activity of the Pd-based catalysts, Pd/CTS and Pd/AFCTS, were assessed in the hydrogenation of styrene oxide to 2-phenyl ethanol. Both Pd-based catalysts enhanced the formation of the desired 2-phenyl ethanol in contrast to a conventional Pd/C catalyst without the assistance of inorganic or organic base. A considerable influence on the conversion and selectivity was observed in the case of Pd/AFCTS, consisting of palladium nanoparticles stabilized and dispersed on amine-functionalized chitosan matrix, affording complete conversion of styrene oxide with 98% selectivity to 2-phenyl ethanol. The catalyst Pd/AFCTS has also been recycled without significant loss of activity and selectivity.  相似文献

Two polyaniline (PANI) samples of various molecular masses were used for the preparation of palladium catalysts (with 2 mass % of Pd). The physicochemical features of starting polyanilines were found to substantially affect the size and extent of palladium nanoparticles aggregation. Strongly aggregated large palladium particles appeared in the PANI sample of more compact morphology (PANI-H), higher crystallinity and lower specific surface area. Pd nanoparticles of a definitively smaller size were formed in the more amorphous PANI sample of looser morphology (PANI-L) and the extent of particles aggregation was markedly lower. The catalytic properties of Pd/PANI samples were studied in a liquid phase hydrogenation of unsaturated triple bond (C≡C) in alkynes reactants, phenylacetylene, and cyclohexylacetylene. The 2 mass % Pd/PANI-L catalyst prepared using polymer of less compact texture exhibited much higher activity in both reactions. In the presence of the 2 mass % Pd/PANI-L catalyst, alkene products were formed with a high selectivity (approximately 90 %) attained at the almost complete conversion of alkynes. This highly selective hydrogenation of the C≡C to the C=C bond was related to the presence of an electroactive polymer, PANI, in close proximity with Pd active sites. Polyaniline could have a role in a steric effect as well as in a modification of adsorptive properties of Pd centres.  相似文献

Alternating adsorption of poly(acrylic acid) and a polyethylenimine-Pd(II) complex on alumina and subsequent reduction of Pd(II) by NaBH4 yield catalytic Pd nanoparticles embedded in multilayer polyelectrolyte films. The polyelectrolytes limit aggregation of the particles and impart catalytic selectivity in the hydrogenation of alpha-substituted unsaturated alcohols by restricting access to catalytic sites. Hydrogenation of allyl alcohol by encapsulated Pd(0) nanoparticles can occur as much as 24-fold faster than hydrogenation of 3-methyl-1-penten-3-ol. Additionally, the nanoparticle/polyelectrolyte system suppresses unwanted substrate isomerization, when compared to a commercial palladium catalyst. Selective diffusion through poly(acrylic acid)/polyethlyenimine membranes suggests that hydrogenation selectivities are due to different rates of diffusion to nanoparticle catalysts. First-order kinetics are also consistent with a diffusion-limited mechanism. Further exploitation of the versatility of polyelectrolyte films should increase selectivity in hydrogenation as well as other reactions.  相似文献

Nanoparticles (2–10 nm) of palladium have been deposited on single wall carbon nanotubes (SWNT) by spontaneous reduction from Pd(OAc)2 or from oxime carbapalladacycle. These catalysts exhibit higher catalytic activity than palladium over activated carbon (Pd/C) for the Heck reaction of styrene and iodobenzene and for the Suzuki coupling of phenylboronic and iodobenzene. This fact has been attributed as reflecting the dramatic influence of the size particle on the activity of the palladium catalyst for CC bond forming reactions as compared to other reaction types less demanding from the point of view of the particle size. Thus, in contrast to the Heck and Suzuki reactions, Pd/C is more active than palladium nanoparticles deposited on SWNT for the catalytic oxidation by molecular oxygen of cinnamyl alcohol to cinnamaldehyde and for the hydrogenation of cinnamaldehyde to 3-phenylpropionaldehyde.  相似文献

In aqueous medium without any other additives, palladium (Pd) nanoparticles with water‐soluble polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) as stabilizer were synthesized for the catalytic hydrogenation of nitrobenzene. Under the optimum experimental conditions, the nitrobenzene conversion and the selectivity for aniline were 99.3 % and 100 %, respectively. Comprehensive characterization methods, including TEM, UV/Vis, confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM), XRD and XPS allowed a better understanding of the role of PVA aggregates and the properties of Pd nanoparticles. The nitrobenzene conversion exceeded 80 % even after 6 cycles without any treatment of the catalyst. A mechanism about the hydrogenation of nitrobenzene catalyzed by Pd/PVA system was proposed. The Pd/PVA catalyst also exhibited excellent activity and selectivity, particularly to ortho‐fluoronitrobenzene and ortho‐nitrotoluene. This research can provide a reference for the environmentally friendly catalysis for hydrogenation of nitrobenzene and other substituted nitrobenzene compounds.  相似文献

Samples of Pd/C and Pd–Ag/C, where C represents carbon nanofibers (CNFs), are synthesized by methane decomposition on a Ni–Cu–Fe/Al2O3 catalyst. The properties of Pd/CNF are studied in the reaction of selective hydrogenation of acetylene into ethylene. It is found that the activity of the catalyst in hydrogenation reaction increases, while selectivity decreases considerably when the palladium content rises. The obtained dependences are caused by the features of palladium’s interaction with the carbon support. At a low Pd content (up to 0.04 wt %) in the catalyst, the metal is inserted into the interlayer space of graphite and the catalytic activity is zero. It is established by EXAFS that the main share of palladium in catalysts of 0.05–0.1 wt % Pd/CNF constitutes the metal in the atomically dispersed state. The coordination environment of palladium atoms consists of carbon atoms. An increase in the palladium content in a Pd/CNF catalyst up to 0.3 wt % leads to the formation of highly dispersed (0.8–1 nm) Pd particles. The Pd/CNF samples where palladium is mainly in the atomically dispersed state exhibit the highest selectivity in the acetylene hydrogenation reaction. The addition of silver to a 0.1 wt % Pd/CNF catalyst initially probably leads to the formation of Pd–Ag clusters and then to alloyed Pd–Ag particles. An increase in the silver content in the catalyst above 0.3% causes the enlargement of the alloyed particles and the palladium atoms are blocked by a silver layer, which considerably decreases the catalytic activity in the selective hydrogenation of acetylene.  相似文献

The development of nanoparticles has greatly improved the catalytic properties of metals due to the higher surface to volume ratio of smaller particles. The production of nanoparticles is most commonly based on abiotic processes, but in the search for alternative protocols, bacterial cells have been identified as excellent scaffolds of nanoparticle nucleation, and bacteria have been successfully employed to recover and regenerate platinum group metals from industrial waste. We report on the formation of bio-supported palladium (Pd) nanoparticles on the surface of two bacterial species with distinctly different surfaces: the gram positive Staphylococcus sciuri and the gram negative Cupriavidus necator. We investigated how the type of bacterium and the amount of biomass affected the size and catalytic properties of the nanoparticles formed. By increasing the biomass:Pd ratio, we could produce bio-supported Pd nanoparticles smaller than 10nm in diameter, whereas lower biomass:Pd ratios resulted in particles ranging from few to hundreds of nm. The bio-supported Pd nanoparticle catalytic properties were investigated towards the Suzuki-Miyaura cross coupling reaction and hydrogenation reactions. Surprisingly, the smallest nanoparticles obtained at the highest biomass:Pd ratio showed no reactivity towards the test reactions. The lack of reactivity appears to be caused by thiol groups, which poison the catalyst by binding strongly to Pd. Different treatments intended to liberate particles from the biomass, such as burning or rinsing in acetone, did not re-establish their catalytic activity. Sulphur-free biomaterials should therefore be explored as more suitable scaffolds for Pd(0) nanoparticle formation.  相似文献

Heterogeneously catalyzed, selective hydrogenation in the liquid phase is widely used in industry for the synthesis of chemicals. However, it can be a challenge to prevent active nanoparticles (e.g., palladium) from aggregation/leaching and meanwhile achieve high conversion as well as selectivity, especially under mild conditions. To address these issues, a CeO2 nanotube/Pd@MIL-53(Al) sandwich-structured catalyst has been prepared in which the MIL-53(Al) porous shell can efficiently stabilize the palladium nanoparticles. When this catalyst was used in a tandem catalytic reaction involving the dehydrogenation of ammonia borane and the hydrogenation of phenylacetylene, remarkably, the hydrogen released from the dehydrogenation of ammonia borane boosted the catalytic process, with 100 % conversion of phenylacetylene and a selectivity of 96.2 % for styrene, even at room temperature and atmospheric pressure, within 1 min. This work therefore provides an alternative strategy for balancing the conversion and selectivity of liquid-phase hydrogenation reactions.  相似文献

The selectivity in the hydrogenation of acrolein over Fe3O4‐supported Pd nanoparticles has been investigated as a function of nanoparticle size in the 220–270 K temperature range. While Pd(111) shows nearly 100 % selectivity towards the desired hydrogenation of the C=O bond to produce propenol, Pd nanoparticles were found to be much less selective towards this product. In situ detection of surface species by using IR‐reflection absorption spectroscopy shows that the selectivity towards propenol critically depends on the formation of an oxopropyl spectator species. While an overlayer of oxopropyl species is effectively formed on Pd(111) turning the surface highly selective for propenol formation, this process is strongly hindered on Pd nanoparticles by acrolein decomposition resulting in CO formation. We show that the extent of acrolein decomposition can be tuned by varying the particle size and the reaction temperature. As a result, significant production of propenol is observed over 12 nm Pd nanoparticles at 250 K, while smaller (4 and 7 nm) nanoparticles did not produce propenol at any of the temperatures investigated. The possible origin of particle‐size dependence of propenol formation is discussed. This work demonstrates that the selectivity in the hydrogenation of acrolein is controlled by the relative rates of acrolein partial hydrogenation to oxopropyl surface species and of acrolein decomposition, which has significant implications for rational catalyst design.  相似文献

We report the preparation and hydrogenation performance of a single‐site palladium catalyst that was obtained by the anchoring of Pd atoms into the cavities of mesoporous polymeric graphitic carbon nitride. The characterization of the material confirmed the atomic dispersion of the palladium phase throughout the sample. The catalyst was applied for three‐phase hydrogenations of alkynes and nitroarenes in a continuous‐flow reactor, showing its high activity and product selectivity in comparison with benchmark catalysts based on nanoparticles. Density functional theory calculations provided fundamental insights into the material structure and attributed the high catalyst activity and selectivity to the facile hydrogen activation and hydrocarbon adsorption on atomically dispersed Pd sites.  相似文献

Pd nanoparticles embedded in multilayer polyelectrolyte films can be easily prepared through layer-by-layer adsorption of poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) and poly(ethyleneimine)-Pd2+ (PEI-Pd(II)) complexes followed by reduction of Pd(II) with NaBH4. Transmission electron microscopy confirms the formation of Pd particles with diameters of 1-3 nm. Remarkably, [PAA/PEI-Pd(0)]3PAA films catalyze the hydrogenation of monosubstituted alkenes with turnover frequencies that are as much as 100-fold higher than turnover frequencies for hydrogenation of multiply substituted double bonds. Selectivities in the hydrogenation of monosubstituted over multisubstituted double bonds are higher than those of Wilkinson's catalyst. Moreover, the turnover frequency for the hydrogenation of allyl alcohol did not change when the catalyst was recycled three times. Intramolecular selectivity for the hydrogenation of monosubstituted alkenes also occurs when substrate molecules contain both mono and multiply substituted double bonds. The combination of the encapsulating polyelectrolyte film and small nanoparticles apparently results in hindered access of multiply substituted double bonds to catalytic sites.  相似文献

Polyaniline coated on particles of celite is used as support to load palladium catalyst. This heterogenized Celite?PANI?Pd system, is used as an efficient catalyst for chemoselective hydrogenation reactions. The catalyst is characterized by usual spectral, analytical techniques and studied for hydrogenation reactions at ambient conditions. The mild reaction conditions allow the control over the reactions and excellent selectivity is achieved in number of conversions. Hydrogenation of a carbon–carbon double bond was favored over other polar π‐bond systems, while labile functional groups such as benzyl ether, benzyl esters, cyano, nitro and halogen remained unaffected. Primary amines were converted to N,N‐dimethyl amines with formaldehyde, the double bond of coumarin was selectively hydrogenated without opening of the lactone functionality.  相似文献

Electrochemically codeposited palladium nanoparticles (Pd NPs) and reduced graphene oxide (ERGO-Pd) were used as catalyst for Suzuki cross coupling reactions. The catalyst was characterized by various analytical techniques. The mean particle size of Pd was found to be 5.7 ± 1.8 nm. The ERGO-Pd catalyst demonstrated excellent catalytic activity and recyclability for Suzuki cross coupling reactions. The remarkable reactivity of the ERGO-Pd catalyst toward cross-coupling reactions is attributed to the high degree of the dispersion of Pd NPs on reduced graphene oxide with narrow size distribution from 3 to 9 nm.  相似文献

The applicability of elemental phosphorus as a modifier of palladium catalysts for hydrogenation was demonstrated, and the conditions for the synthesis of nanoparticles that are highly efficient in hydrogenation catalysis were optimized. The modifying effect of elemental phosphorus depends on the P/Pd ratio; it is associated with changes in the catalyst dispersity and the nature of the formed nanoparticles containing various palladium phosphides (PdP2, Pd5P2, and Pd6P) and Pd(0) clusters. The main stages of the formation of palladium catalysts for hydrogenation were determined, and a model of an active catalyst, in which the Pd6P phosphide is the core of a nanoparticle and Pd(0) clusters form a shell, was proposed.  相似文献

Platinum and palladium nanoparticles, supported and stabilized by polymeric core-shell architectures, proved to be active catalysts for hydrogenation reactions. Here, two different reactions were used as probes to investigate the influence of the polymeric support: the hydrogenation of α-methyl styrene (AMS) to cumene and the partial hydrogenation of 1,5-cyclooctadiene (COD). We found that the stability of the nanoparticles and the rate of reaction are higher in the presence of a hydrophobic octadecyl shell within a three-shell polymer system. The kinetic study of AMS hydrogenation showed much higher activities for palladium nanoparticles than for platinum nanoparticles, and the obtained results (e.g., 35 kJ/mol for the activation energy) are of the same order of magnitude as reported earlier for palladium supported on alumina. A methanol/n-heptane biphasic mixture was tested for catalyst recycling and allowed for highly efficient catalyst separation with very low metal leaching.  相似文献

Pd/Sibunit and Pd–M/Sibunit (M = Ga, Zn, or Ag) catalysts have been synthesized, and their catalytic properties in liquid-phase acetylene hydrogenation have been investigated. Doping of the palladium catalyst with a metal M leads to the formation of the Pd2Ga, PdZn, or Pd0.46Ag0.54 bimetallic compound. The bimetallic particles are much smaller (1.6–2.0 nm) than the monometallic palladium particles (4.0 nm). Doping with zinc raises the ethylene selectivity by 25% without affecting the activity of the catalyst. Specific features of the effect of each of the dopants on palladium are reported.  相似文献

Abstract

Palladium(II) acetate has been anchored onto a copolymer support containing pyridyl and carboxyl groups. XPS studies showed the Pd 3d binding energies for the recovered catalyst to be less by 1 eV after being used in hydrogenation studies. However, x-ray studies and a chemical test based on KCN treatment failed to reveal any palladium oxide or palladium metal formation in the recovered catalyst. It is presumed that an acetate ligand is lost during hydrogenation, which could be the reason for the lowering of the palladium 3d binding energies in the recovered catalyst. Results of investigations of the hydrogenation of olefins and selectivity of the catalyst toward the hydrogenation of dienes and alkynes are presented. The loss of palladium due to leaching under the reaction conditions employed was found to be very low (<1%/cycle).  相似文献
