Understanding the mechanism of electroweak symmetry breaking and the origin of boson and fermion masses is among the most pressing questions raised in contemporary particle physics. If these issues involve one (several) Higgs boson(s), a precise measurement of all its (their) properties will be of prime importance. Among those, the Higgs coupling to matter fermions (the Yukawa coupling). At a linear collider, the process e+e-→tt̄H will allow a direct measurement of the top-Higgs Yukawa coupling. We present a realistic feasibility study of the measurement in the context of the TESLA collider. Four channels are studied and the analysis is repeated for several Higgs mass values within the range 120–200 GeV/c 2. PACS 13.66.Jn; 14.65.Ha; 14.80.Bn  相似文献

The colour reconnection effects were intensively studied with LEP2 data and are a dominant sources of systematic uncertainty in the W boson mass in e+e? annihilation at LEP2 and one of a dominant sources of systematic uncertainty in the top quark mass determination at hadronic colliders. With the discovery of Higgs boson, a new arena for the effects studies opened up. The effects are discussed within the existent different models and what future tests may come with a future FCC-ee.  相似文献

We examine, in a model independent way, the sensitivity of a linear collider to the couplings of a light Higgs boson to a pair of gauge bosons, including the possibility of CP violation. We construct several observables that probe the various possible anomalous couplings. For an intermediate mass Higgs, a collider operating at a center of mass energy of 500 GeV and with an integrated luminosity of 500 fb−1 is shown to be able to constrain the ZZH vertex at the few per cent level, with even higher sensitivity for some of the couplings. However, lack of sufficient number of observables as well as contamination from the ZZH vertex limits the precision to which anomalous part of the WWH coupling can be probed.   相似文献

The production rates and substructure of jets have been studied in charged current deep inelastic e + p scattering for Q 2 > 200 GeV2 with the ZEUS detector at HERA using an integrated luminosity of 110.5 pb-1. Inclusive jet cross sections are presented for jets with transverse energies GeV and pseudorapidities in the range . Dijet cross sections are presented for events with a jet having GeV and a second jet having GeV. Measurements of the mean subjet multiplicity, , of the inclusive jet sample are presented. Predictions based on parton-shower Monte Carlo models and next-to-leading-order QCD calculations are compared to the measurements. The value of , determined from at for jets with GeV, is . The mean subjet multiplicity as a function of Q 2 is found to be consistent with that measured in NC DIS.Received: 5 June 2003, Published online: 10 October 2003  相似文献

Complementing the preceding study of charged scalar leptons, the sector of the neutral scalar leptons, sneutrinos, is investigated in a high-precision analysis for future e + e - linear colliders. The theoretical predictions for the cross-sections are calculated at the thresholds for non-zero widths and in the continuum including higher-order corrections at the one-loop level. Methods for measuring the sneutrino masses and the electron-sneutrino-gaugino Yukawa couplings are presented, addressing theoretical problems specific for the sneutrino channels.Received: 10 September 2004, Revised: 11 October 2004, Published online: 3 March 2005  相似文献

K + K - production in two-photon collisions has been studied using a large data sample of 67 fb-1 accumulated with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric e + e - collider. We have measured the cross section for the process for center-of-mass energies between 1.4 and 2.4 GeV, and found three new resonant structures in the energy region between 1.6 and 2.4 GeV. The angular differential cross sections have also been measured.Received: 30 September 2003, Published online: 18 December 2003  相似文献

A new evaluation of the hadronic vacuum polarization contribution to the muon magnetic moment is presented. We take into account the reanalysis of the low-energy e + e -annihilation cross section into hadrons by the CMD-2 Collaboration. The agreement between e + e -and spectral functions in the channel is found to be much improved. Nevertheless, significant discrepancies remain in the center-of-mass energy range between 0.85 and , so that we refrain from averaging the two data sets. The values found for the lowest-order hadronic vacuum polarization contributions are where the errors have been separated according to their sources: experimental, missing radiative corrections in e + e -data, and isospin breaking. The corresponding Standard Model predictions for the muon magnetic anomaly read where the errors account for the hadronic, light-by-light (LBL) scattering and electroweak contributions. The deviations from the measurement at BNL are found to be (1.9 ) and (0.7 ) for the e + e -- and -based estimates, respectively, where the second error is from the LBL contribution and the third one from the BNL measurement.Received: 7 September 2003, Published online: 30 October 2003  相似文献

Motivated by recent experimental results and ongoing measurements, we review the chiral perturbation theory prediction for decays. Special emphasis is given to the stability of the inner bremsstrahlung-dominated relative branching ratio versus the K e3 form factors, and on the separation of the structure-dependent amplitude in differential distributions over the phase space. For the structure-dependent terms, an assessment of the order p 6 corrections is given, in particular, a full next-to-leading order calculation of the axial component is performed. The experimental analysis of the photon energy spectrum is discussed, and other potentially useful distributions are introduced.Received: 9 December 2004, Published online: 21 February 2005PACS: 13.20.Eb, 11.30.Rd, 12.39.Fe  相似文献

Cross sections for e + p charged current deep inelastic scattering at a centre-of-mass energy of have been determined with an integrated luminosity of collected with the ZEUS detector at HERA. The differential cross sections , and for are presented. In addition, has been measured in the kinematic range and . The predictions of the Standard Model agree well with the measured cross sections. The mass of the W boson propagator is determined to be from a fit to . The chiral structure of the Standard Model is also investigated in terms of the (1-y)2 dependence of the double-differential cross section. The structure-function has been extracted by combining the measurements presented here with previous ZEUS results from e - p scattering, extending the measurement obtained in a neutrino-nucleus scattering experiment to a significantly higher Q 2 region.Received: 17 July 2003, Published online: 12 November 2003 a supported by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) b supported by the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF), under contract numbers HZ1GUA 2, HZ1GUB 0, HZ1PDA 5, HZ1VFA 5 c supported by the MINERVA Gesellschaft für Forschung GmbH, the Israel Science Foundation, the U.S.-Israel Binational Science Foundation and the Benozyio Center for High Energy Physics d supported by the German-Israeli Foundation and the Israel Science Foundation e supported by the Italian National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN) f supported by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) and its grants for Scientific Research g supported by the Korean Ministry of Education and Korea Science and Engineering Foundation h supported by the Netherlands Foundation for Research on Matter (FOM) i supported by the Polish State Committee for Scientific Research, grant no. 620/E-77/SPUB-M/DESY/P-03/DZ 247/2000-2002 j partially supported by the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF) k supported by the Fund for Fundamental Research of Russian Ministry for Science and Education and by the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF) l supported by the Spanish Ministry of Education and Science through funds provided by CICYT m supported by the Particle Physics and Astronomy Research Council, UK n supported by the US Department of Energy o supported by the US National Science Foundation p supported by the Polish State Committee for Scientific Research, grant no. 112/E-356/SPUB-M/DESY/P-03/DZ 301/2000-2002, 2 P03B 13922 q supported by the Polish State Committee for Scientific Research, grant no. 115/E-343/SPUB-M/DESY/P-03/DZ 121/2001-2002, 2 P03B 07022  相似文献

Effects of CP and T invariance violation are studied in the most general interaction of the Higgs boson with the intermediate vector W ± and Z bosons. Various angular distributions of the cascade decay Φ → W + W ?/ZZ → 4 of fermions in the transversity and helicity systems are calculated, and asymmetries are constructed and evaluated. It is shown that studying the azimuthal angle distribution of the process Φ → ZZ → (e ? e +)(μ?μ+) in the transversity system is effective for measuring the spatial parity of the Higgs boson.  相似文献

Doubly-charged scalars, predicted in many models having exotic Higgs rep-resentations, can in general have lepton-number violating (LFV) couplings. We show that by using an associated monoenergetic final state photon seen at a future linear e e collider, we can have a clear and distinct signature for a doubly-charged resonance. The strength of the ΔL = 2 coupling can also be probed quite effectively as a function of the recoil mass of the doubly-charged scalar.   相似文献

We present a detailed numerical study of the Ke3 decays to in chiral perturbation theory with virtual photons and leptons. We describe the extraction of the CKM matrix element |Vus| from the experimental Ke3 decay parameters. We propose a consistency check of the K + e3 and K0e3 data that is largely insensitive to the dominating theoretical uncertainties, in particular the contributions of . Our analysis is highly relevant in view of the recent high statistics measurement of the K + e3 branching ratio by E865 at Brookhaven which does not indicate any significant deviation from CKM unitarity but rather a discrepancy with the present K0e3 data.Received: 22 January 2004, Published online: 30 April 2004Work supported in part by IHP-RTN, Contract No. HPRN-CT2002-00311 (EURIDICE) and by Acciones Integradas, Project No. 19/2003 (Austria), HU2002-0044 (MCYT, Spain)  相似文献

Loop-driven decay modes of the Higgs are sensitive to new physics contributions because of new particles in the loops. To highlight this we look at the dilepton-dijet signal in the dominant Higgs production channel at a linear e + e collider. We show that by taking a simple ratio between cross-sections of two different final states such contributions can be very easily identified.   相似文献

The measurability of generation mixing is studied on pair production of sneutrinos in e + e - collisions and their subsequent decays into two different charged leptons e and μ with two lighter charginos. The analyses are made systematically in a general framework of the supersymmetric extension of the standard model. The production and decay process depends on the parameters of the chargino sector as well as those of the sneutrino sector. Although generation-changing interactions are severely constrained by radiative charged-lepton decays, sizable regions in the parameter space could still be explored at e + e - colliders in the near future. The littlest Higgs model is the most economical one among various little Higgs models. In the context of the littlest Higgs model, we study the process e+e-→e+e-H at the ILC and calculate the correction of the littlest Higgs model to the cross section of this process. The results show that, in the favorable parameter spaces preferred by the electroweak precision data, the value of the relative correction is in the range from a few percent to tens percent. In most cases, the correction is large enough to reach the measurement precision of the ILC. Therefore, the correction of the littlest Higgs model to the process e+e-→e+e-H might be detected at the ILC, which will give an ideal way to test the model. Mixing of neutral K 0 mesons is studied in the framework of the minimal supersymmetric model (MSSM) with a Yukawa type II sector and explicit violation of CP invariance in the Higgs potential. Mixing parameters Δm LS and ɛ are calculated in the limit of the four-fermion approximation with charged Higgs boson exchange. This work specifies the data presented in [1] more precisely and, taking into account the influence of new contributions on the above observables, proves the small degree of supersymmetric effects for a system of K 0 mesons.  相似文献

Mixing of K 0 and B 0 mesons is studied in the scope of the minimum supersymmetry model (MSSM) with a type II Yukawa sector and explicit violation of CP invariance in the Higgs potential. The mixing parameters Δm LS and ? are calculated in the limit of the low-energy four-fermion approximation with a charged Higgs boson exchange. It is shown that supersymmetric effects are very small for K 0 mesons and may be quite significant for B s 0 and B d 0 mesons, which imposes constraints on the MSSM parameter space.  相似文献

In the CP-violating minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM), for certain values of the CP-violating phases associated to the universal trilinear couplings (At, Ab) and the gluino mass , e.g., or , for GeV and -5, the lightest Higgs boson mass ( ) is GeV. This mass interval is still allowed by results of standard LEP Higgs searches because of a strongly suppressed H1ZZ coupling. However, in the same region of parameter space in which these two conditions occur, the coupling is enhanced because the two mentioned sets of couplings satisfy a sum rule. In this paper we probe such a light Higgs scenario at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) by studying associate production, leading to a signal. We show that the latter is readily accessible at the CERN hadron collider, upon the application of suitable selection cuts against the standard model (SM) backgrounds. Our parton level Monte Carlo (MC) analysis yields -45 signal events, completely free of SM background, for - 30 fb-1 of accumulated luminosity, after taking into account the overall efficiency for tagging four b-jets.Received: 21 February 2005, Published online: 6 July 2005  相似文献

We compute the cross section for the process e+e →Hff as a function of Higgs boson mass and of center-of-mass energies of Mz and beyond. We conclude that searches for a Higgs of mass less than 50 GeV are far more effective when carried out near the Z boson resonance that at any higher energy. However, a new window of Higgs boson masses extending from 50–107 GeV can be explored if and when e+e collisions can be studied with high luminosity at collision energies of 200 GeV. Collider energies at intermediate energies can play no useful role in the search for the Higgs.  相似文献

Spectral confirmation of the formation of stable equilibrium complexes (association constant K as = 2106 M–1) of the Krebs cycle enzyme — malate dehydrogenase (MDH) — and one of the promising photodynamic sensitizers — chlorin e 6 — have been obtained. It is shown that the incorporation of dye molecules into the protein globule of dimeric MDH (each subunit of which contains 4 tryptophan amino acid residues, each binding one molecule of chlorin e 6) is accompanied by quenching of the tryptophan fluorescence of the enzyme. However, despite the overlapping of the fluorescence spectra of tryptophanyls of MDH and the absorption spectrum of chlorin e 6, the fluorescence quenching observed is not caused by singlet-singlet inductive-resonant transfer of energy from the donor to the acceptor. The conclusion has been drawn that the reason for the absence of energy transfer from tryptophanyls to the dye is the more effective intertryptophan migration of energy to one of the most longwave amino acid residues, the quenching of the luminescence of which occurs due to the reversible photoinduced transfer of an electron to chlorin e 6 (formation of a complex with charge transfer). The formation of a complex with charge transfer between chlorin e 6 (when it is excited) and one of the amino acid residues of the enzyme that contact with the dye at its binding site on the protein molecule is also the most noncontradictory explanation of the observed (when bound with MDH) decrease in the quantum yield of fluorescence of chlorin e 6 upon increase in the duration of its quenching. The question of the ability of MDH to act as one of the most sensitive targets responsible for the disturbance of mitochondrial functions and initiation of the apoptosis of tumor cells in the process of photodynamic therapy is discussed.Translated from Zhurnal Prikladnoi Spektroskopii, Vol. 71, No. 6, pp. 749–758, November–December, 2004.This revised version was published online in April 2005 with a corrected cover date.  相似文献
