Antiproton annihilation cross sections on medium-heavy and heavy nuclear targets are measured for the first time at 5.3 MeV kinetic energy at the Antiprotons Decelerator facility of CERN. The results agree with the expected behavior from the black-disk model with the Coulomb corrections.  相似文献

The production of various heavy-quark-containing baryons in electron-positron annihilation is considered. On the basis of exact formulas that we obtained previously within full perturbation theory, new numerical calculations of the respective cross sections are performed, and simple approximate expressions are then constructed for the results of these calculations. The dependence of the total cross sections on the masses of constituent quarks is discussed. The application of the Peterson fragmentation function and a Reggeon-type fragmentation function to describing differential cross sections is analyzed.  相似文献

An effective range expansion is developed for the NN system incorporating annihilation, charge-exchange and Coulomb interaction. By fitting the LEAR data on elastic scattering and charge-exchange differential cross sections the NN scattering lengths and effective ranges are obtained. These solutions reproduce also the data on antiprotonic hydrogen, antineutron-proton total and annihilation cross sections and the behavior of the forward amplitude real-to-imaginary ratio.  相似文献

Formulas are obtained for the differential and total cross sections of a weak antiproton-neutron leptonic annihilation, allowing at the same time for the intermediate boson, the form factors of the weak nucleon current, and arbitrary polarizations of the initial particles. In the case of contact interaction (V?λA), it is shown that the cross sections of the process considered are very sensitive to the axial-interaction structure and to the spin correlations of the particles.  相似文献

By taking the available data on¯pp annihilation into pions, it has been seen that the branching ratio for different charge configurations in the final state are determined by statistical factors. The total calculated¯pp annihilation cross sections derived from this rule and the knowledge of the cross section for the fitted channels are in good agreement with the experimental values. A systematic variation of forward peaking of the outgoing pions in the CM has been seen. This can be partly explained by a cloud-core model for the nucleon and antinucleon interaction.  相似文献

A joint analysis of the experimental data on cross sections of total and partial photoneutron reactions is performed for the 115In isotope. The data are obtained by using the quasimonoenergetic photons generated upon the annihilation of relativistic positrons. Well-known systematic discrepancies between the results of various experiments are analyzed using objective absolute criteria of data reliability and authenticity. Methods for taking these discrepancies into account are considered. New reliable and authentic evaluations for cross sections of the σ(γ, n), σ(γ2n), and σ(γ, 3n) reactions are obtained using the data on the cross section of the reaction of photoneutron total yields σ(γ,xn) in the context of a new experimental-theoretical approach to evaluating the cross sections of partial reactions. These data are free from the shortcomings of experimental methods for the photoneuron multiplicity sorting.  相似文献

The exclusive Born cross sections of the production of D~0, D~+ and D_s~+ smesons in e~+e~- annihilation at 13 energy points between 3.970 and 4.260 Ge V are obtained by applying corrections for initial state radiation and vacuum polarization to the observed cross sections measured by the CLEO-c experiment. Both the statistical and the systematic uncertainties for the obtained Born cross sections are estimated.  相似文献

One of the processes involving the inclusive production of the vector-charmonium states J/ψ. and ψ(2S) in two-photon electron-positron annihilation at \(\sqrt s = 10.6 GeV\) is studied on the basis of the singlet model. Analytic expressions are derived for respective differential cross sections, and numerical values of the total cross sections are given, along with graphs that represent the distributions of cross sections in the scattering angle and in the vector-meson energy. It is shown that these distributions differ substantially from the analogous distributions for charmonium production in one-photon electron-positron annihilation. For this reason, the process under consideration can readily be isolated despite the smallness caused by an extra power of α.  相似文献

The results of the annihilation cross sections measurement of 5.3 MeV antiprotons on nickel, tin, platinum and Mylar targets performed by the ASACUSA Collaboration at CERN are presented and compared with the existing data and models. From the experimental point of view the presented data are the first measurement of antinucleon annihilation cross sections at low energies obtained with a pulsed beam. This results open the road for the next measurements at the very low energies of the order of 100 keV that are in progress by the ASACUSA Collaboration. The experimental method foreseen for the 100 keV measurement is illustrated.  相似文献

From QCD we obtain a temperature-dependent quark potential. The transition potential corresponding to quark-antiquark annihilation and creation is derived in perturbative QCD. The experimental ground-state meson masses are reproduced and the experimental data of elastic phase shifts for ππ scattering near the threshold energy in vacuum can be accounted for in the Born approximation. Starting from S-matrix element, we derive the transition amplitude and the cross section for the scattering. Unpolarised cross sections for reactions involving π, ρ, K and K* are calculated. Remarkable temperature dependence of the cross sections is found.  相似文献

The problem of reliability of the cross section data obtained for partial photoneutron reactions on 76,78,80,82Se nuclei in beams of quasimonoenergetic annihilation photons by means of neutron multiplicity sorting is discussed by employing objective physical criteria. It is shown that, because of substantial systematic uncertainties, experimental data on the (γ, 1n) and (γ, 2n) cross sections are unreliable. New data satisfying the reliability criteria are obtained for the partial photoneutron reaction cross sections for 76,78,82Se nuclei by an experimental—theoretical method for evaluating such cross sections and are compared with experimental data and with data evaluated earlier for the isotope 80Se. The evaluated integrated cross sections for the total photoneutron reactions on 76,78,80,82Se nuclei are compared with the predictions of the Thomas-Reiche-Kuhn classical dipole sum rule.

Using three sets of Pomeron structure functions, the cross sections of J/ψ and γ associated productionvia resolved photon and proton diffractive scatting in ep collision are investigated. It is found that the cross sectionscalculated with various gluon distribution functions of Pomeron are different. The discrepancy is about 1.8 times fordifferential cross sections and 1.7 times for total cross sections. The experimental studies of the process could give valuableinsight in the diffractive production mechanism and test the color-octet mechanism for heavy quarkonium production ina new environment.  相似文献

The NN amplitudes for J ? 2 are calculated using Bryan-Phillips non static OBEP and treating annihilation in the framework of a many channel N/D-formalism. For the first time all poles are found simultaneously with cross sections, reasonably well reproduced by adjusting only the coupling of the annihilation channel. The resonances have large widths and partial wave cross sections do not show any structure, suggesting that the recently found NN resonances, both narrow and wide, are not of quasi nuclear origin.  相似文献

We point out that the lightest Kaluza–Klein particle (LKP) dark matter in universal extra dimension (UED) models efficiently annihilates through the coannihilation process including the first KK Higgs bosons when the Higgs mass is slightly heavy as 200–230 GeV, which gives the large Higgs self-coupling. The large self-coupling naturally leads the mass degeneracy between the LKP and the first KK Higgs bosons and large annihilation cross sections of the KK Higgs bosons. These are essential for the enhancement of the annihilation of the LKP dark matter, which allows large compactification scale ∼1 TeV to be consistent with cosmological observations for the relic abundance of dark matter. We found that the thermal relic abundance of the LKP dark matter could be reconciled with the stringent constraint of electroweak precision measurements in the minimal UED model.  相似文献

The behaviour of positrons below the inelastic collision threshold in rare gases can usually be completely accounted for in terms of the annihilation and elastic scattering cross sections for collisions between a positron and a single gas atom. Determining these cross sections has been the subject of many theoretical and experimental investigations. However the basic premise that the positron interacts with the gas atoms, one at a time, has been recently questioned by the yet unexplained results of some low-temperature experiments. This article discusses the annihilation and elastic scattering cross sections as they relate to the conventional picture of positrons in He, Ne, Ar, Kr and Xe gas; as well as the possibility of bound states for positrons in the gases at low temperatures.  相似文献

Born differential cross sections and the lowest-order radiative correction to them are obtained in the kinematics of large-angle final photon emissions in high-energy electron-positron annihilation processes. Taking into account the possible emission of real soft and hard photons in collinear kinematics, we show the validity of the Drell-Yan form of the differential cross section with the nonsinglet structure functions of the initial leptons. The leading and next-to-leading contribution to the cross sections is obtained. The relevant numerical estimations are presented. The text was submitted by the authors in English.  相似文献

The electron current tensor for the scattering of a heavy photon on a longitudinally polarized electron with the emission of two hard real photons is considered. The contributions of collinear and semicollinear kinematics are computed. Absolute (γ, xn) cross sections for 9Be were measured with monochromatic photons from positron annihilation in flight in the energy range from 17 to 37 MeV. No pronounced structure was found in the cross sections in contrast to recent experiments performed with bremsstrahlung sources.
