We calculate decay widths of the metastable ppμ* ν,J molecular ion in non-adiabatic approach. The muonic molecular ion can be formed in collision of the excited pμ(2s) atoms with H2. Then, decay of the ppμ* ν,J system opens a path for the muon from pμ(2s) to pμ(1s). We employ trial wave function which includes non-adiabatic terms to calculate some radiationless decay widths. The present results of the widths do not good agree with those given in our previous work, while are more close to recent data of other researchers.  相似文献

The neutron fraction in the very high-energy cosmic rays near the Greisen-Zatsepin-Kuzmin (GZK) cutoff energy is analyzed by taking into account the time dilation effect of the neutron decays and also the pion photoproduction behaviors above the GZK cutoff. We predict a non-trivial neutron fraction above the GZK cutoff and a negligibly small neutron fraction below. However, there should be a large antiproton fraction in the high-energy cosmic rays below the GZK cutoff in several existing models for the observed cosmic-ray events above and near the GZK cutoff. Such a large antiproton fraction can manifest itself by the muon charge ratio μ+- in the collisions of the primary nucleon cosmic rays with the atmosphere, if there is no neutron contribution. We suggest to use the muon charge ratio as one of the information to detect the composition of the primary cosmic rays near or below the GZK cutoff.  相似文献

The quasi-elastic contribution of the nuclear inclusive electron scattering model developed in [A. Gil, J. Nieves, and E. Oset: Nucl. Phys. A 627 (1997) 543] is extended to the study of electroweak charged current induced nuclear reactions at intermediate energies of interest for future neutrino oscillation experiments. The model accounts for long-range nuclear (RPA) correlations, final state interaction and Coulomb corrections. RPA correlations are shown to play a crucial role in the whole range of neutrino energies, up to 500 MeV, studied in this work. Predictions for inclusive muon capture for different nuclei, and for the reactions 12C(ν μ , μ )X and 12C(ν e, e)X near threshold are also given. Presented by M. Valverde at the Workshop on calculation of double-beta-decay matrix elements (MEDEX’05), Corfu, Greece, September 26–29, 2005.  相似文献

A new experiment is under preparation with the aim to improve considerably the present knowledge of the rate Λ s , which should be measured on a level of 1% or better, for the basic electroweak capture reaction of a negative muon on the free proton μp 1s n + νμ. The capture rate will be determined by measuring the lifetime of μ stopped in ultra pure hydrogen at 10 bar pressure and comparing it with the lifetime of the unbound μ+. A new experimental method was developed for this project which should allow measuring the μ lifetime with at least 10 ppm precision. The basic element of the detector is operating in the hydrogen gas time projection chamber (TPC) surrounded by multi-wire proportional chambers (MWPCs) and scintillator counters. The arrival times and trajectories of the incoming muons and the outgoing decay electrons are measured with this device providing effective suppression of background. Using the TPC as an active target, we can monitor on-line the protium contamination by impurities with a sensitivity better than 10−8. This can be done by detecting the charged products of the muon capture reaction on these impurities. It was demonstrated that the TPC and MWPCs can operate in pure hydrogen under 10 bar pressure providing gas gain up to 10 000. The aim of the μCap experiment is a 1% measurement of the singlet capture rate Λ S for the basic electro-weak reaction μ + pn + νμ. This observable is sensitive to the weak form-factors of the nucleon, in particular to the induced pseudoscalar coupling constant g P . It will provide a rigorous test of theoretical predictions based on the Standard Model and effective theories of QCD. The present method is based on high precision lifetime measurements of μ in hydrogen gas and the comparison with the free μ+ lifetime. The μ experiment will be performed in ultra-clean, deuterium-depleted H2 gas at 10 bar. Low density compared to liquid H2 is chosen to avoid uncertainties due to ppμ formation. A time projection chamber acts as a pure hydrogen active target. It defines the muon stop position in 3D and detects rare background reactions. Decay electrons are tracked in cylindrical wire-chambers and a scintillator array covering 75% of 4π. High-spin states in 112Pd were studied using prompt γ-ray spectroscopy with Gammasphere following heavy-ion-induced fission in the reaction 18O + 208Pb at 91 MeV. A new 8+ level at 2638 keV was discovered with transitions connecting it to the yrast band and the quasi-gamma band. The three, now established, closely spaced 8+ states indicate a mixing between the ground-state band, s-band, and quasi-gamma band. Several high-spin structures with likely negative parity have been extended to higher spin and it is proposed that they are based on the νh 11/2(g 7/2 d 5/2) and νh 11/2(s 1/2 d 3/2) configurations. We present a study of the LHC sensitivity to the W boson mass based on simulation studies. We find that both experimental and phenomenological sources of systematic uncertainties can be strongly constrained with Z measurements: the lineshape, dσ Z /dm, is robustly predicted, and its analysis provides an accurate measurement of the detector resolution and absolute scale, while the differential cross-section analysis, d2 σ Z /dydp T , absorbs the strong interaction uncertainties. A sensitivity δ m W ∼7 MeV for each decay channel (We ν, Wμ ν), and for an integrated luminosity of 10 fb−1, appears as a reasonable goal.  相似文献

The masses of the SU(3)×SU(6) hadrons are calculated in the chiral-invariant phase space (CHIPS) model as a sum of the mean energies of the quarks at a constant temperature T c with the color-magnetic splitting and the color-electric shift. The masses of hadrons are parametrized by four constants: T c, ms, E CE and A CM. With the same number of parameters the CHIPS model fits the masses of hadrons better than the classic bag model. The small mass of the d-quark ( m d = 2.7MeV) is used to prove that the isotopic shifts of hadrons can be explained by the mass difference between the d- and u-quarks. The dibaryon mass is estimated in CHIPS to be 200MeV higher than in the bag model. The prediction for the mass of the α* cluster is about the same in both models. It is close to 4 . m Δ. The collective band structures of the 125Cs nucleus have been investigated by in-beam γ-ray spectroscopic techniques following the 110Pd ( 19F, 4n) reaction at 75MeV. The previously known level scheme, with rotational bands built on πg7/2, πg9/2 and πh11/2 orbitals, has been extended and evolves into bands involving rotationally aligned ν(h11/2)2 and π(h11/2)2 quasiparticles. A strongly coupled band has been reassigned a high-K πh11/2 ⊗ νg7/2 ⊗ νh11/2 three-quasiparticle configuration and a new side band likely to be its chiral partner has been identified. Configurations assigned to various bands are discussed in the framework of Principal/Tilted Axis Cranking (PAC/TAC) model calculations.  相似文献

Excited states of 99Ag were populated via the 50Cr + 58Ni (261 MeV) reaction using the NORDBALL detector array equipped with charged-particle and neutron detector systems for reaction channel separation. On the basis of the measured γγ-coincidence relations and angular distribution ratios a significantly extended level scheme has been constructed up to E x ∼ 7.8 MeV and I = 35/2. The experimental results were described within the framework of the shell model. Candidates for states fully aligned in the πg 9/2 -3ν(d 5/2, g 7/2)2 valence configuration space were found at 4109 and 6265 keV. In this work we have identified and studied the decay of two new microsecond isomers 19/2- and 23/2+ in 131Sb. This neutron-rich nucleus was produced by thermal neutron-induced fission of 241Pu. The detection is based on time correlation between fission fragments selected by the LOHENGRIN spectrometer at ILL (Grenoble) and the γ-rays or conversion electrons from isomers. These new data on high-spin states complete the level scheme previously obtained from β-decay. A large fraction of the members of the πg 7/2ν(h 11/2 -1 d 3/2 -1) and πg 7/2νh 11/2 -2 multiplets are now known and were compared with a multi-particle shell model calculation. Using 160GeV muon scattering data collected with the COMPASS experiment at CERN, the exclusive production of ωπ0 via virtual photons was studied. Selective population of a peak around 1250MeV is observed. Possible contributions from spin-parity 1- are searched for, inspecting decay angular correlations. In particular, the orientation of the ω decay plane may allow a distinction from the 1+ b 1(1235) state. Our observation is compared with indications of a (1250) in annihilation and in γp . Several previously unknown resonances of the μtμ helium hydride ion have been identified using a variational procedure. It is suggested that these resonances may form in αμ(1s)-TD(T2) scattering, for centre of mass collision energies in the range 8–10 keV. If the molecular complex [(αtμ)*dee]* is formed in a dissociative state (with respect to the α tμ-d coordinate), the dissociation energy may in part be transferred to the muonic degrees of freedom, opening the exit channel [(αtμ)*dee]* → tμ + α e + T, effectively amounting to muon transfer from α to t. We present a theoretical formulation of this novel and hypothetical mechanism for muon reactivation together with a numerical calculation of its cross-section for a special case. Double neutral pion photoproduction from the proton has been measured at MAMI for photon energies between threshold and 820 MeV. The reaction was identified by an invariant mass and missing mass analysis. From threshold up to 370 MeV the total cross-section does not exceed 30 nb. For higher energies it shows a smooth rise until it reaches a maximum of about 10 μb at E γ = 740 MeV. Dalitz plots of m 20π0) versus m 2(p0) for seven bins of incident photon energy have been analysed. For E γ > 610 MeV, a strong contribution of a sequential decay is observed with the Δ(1232)-resonance as intermediate state. A comparison to model calculations shows that these sequential decays presumably originate from the D 13(1520) and also the P 11(1440)-resonance. A search for 2β decay of 136Xe with two high-pressure copper proportional counters was carried out in the Baksan Neutrino Observatory. The experiment is based on comparison of spectra measured with natural and enriched xenon. No evidence was found for 2β(2ν) and 2β(0ν) decay. The decay half-life limit based on data measured for 8000 h is T 1/2 ≥ 8.5 × 1021 yr for 2ν mode and T 1/2 ≥ 3.1 × 1023 yr for 0ν mode (90% C.L.). Proton resonances in 22Mg have been investigated by the resonant elastic scattering of 21 Na + p . The 21Na beam with a mean energy of 4.00 MeV/nucleon was separated by the CNS radioactive-ion-beam separator (CRIB) and bombarded a thick ( CH2 n target. The energy spectra of recoiled protons were measured at scattering angles of θc.m. ≈ 172° , 146° , respectively. Several excited states observed before have been confirmed including two states (at 6.616, 6.796 MeV) observed at TRIUMF. A new state at 7.06 MeV has been observed, and another new one at 7.28 MeV is tentatively identified due to its low statistics. The proton resonant parameters were deduced from an R -matrix analysis of the differential cross-section data with a SAMMY-M6-BETA code. The astrophysical implication for the 18 Ne(α, p)21 Na reaction has been briefly discussed.  相似文献

The analysis of new experimental data, obtained at the Proton Linear Accelerator of INR, with the aim to search for supernarrow dibaryons in the pdppX 1 and pdpdX 2 reactions is presented. Narrow peaks with an experimental width of 5 MeV at masses of 1904±2, 1926±2, and 1942±2 MeV have been observed in missing mass M pX1 spectra. In the missing mass M X1 spectra, the peaks at M X1 = 966±2, 986±2, and 1003±2 MeV have been found. The analysis of the data obtained leads to the conclusion that the observed peaks in M pX1 spectra are most likely supernarrow dibaryons, the decay of which into two nucleons is forbidden by the Pauli exclusion principle. An alternative interpretation of the spectra by assuming a decay of the supernarrow dibaryons in “exotic baryon states” with masses M X1 is discussed. We present the results of extensive molecular dynamics computer simulations in which the high frequency dynamics of silica, i.e. for frequencies ν > 0.5 THz, is investigated in the viscous liquid state as well as in the glass state. We characterize the properties of high frequency sound modes by analyzing J l(q,ν) and J t(q,ν), the longitudinal and transverse current correlation function, respectively. For wave-vectors q > 0.4 ?-1 the spectra are sitting on top of a flat background. The dynamic structure factor S(q,ν) exhibits for q > 0.23 ?-1 a boson peak which is located nearly independent of q around 1.7 THz and for which the intensity scales approximately linearly with temperature. We show that the low frequency part of the boson peak is mainly due to the elastic scattering of transverse acoustic modes with frequencies around 1 THz. The strength of this scattering depends on q and is largest around q = 1.7 ?-1, the location of the first sharp diffraction peak in the static structure factor. By studying S(q,ν) for different system sizes we show that strong finite size effects are present in the low frequency part of the boson peak in that for small systems part of its intensity is missing. We discuss the consequences of these finite size effects for the structural relaxation. Received 27 June 2000 and Received in final form 9 January 2001  相似文献
