On the norms of generalized translation operators generated by Dunkl type operators

An integral representation for the generalized translation operators generated by Dunkl type operators $$ \Lambda f(x) = f'(x) + \frac{{A'(x)}}{{A(x)}}\frac{{f(x) - f\left( { - x} \right)}}{2} $$ In the spaces $ {L_p}\left( \mathbb{R} \right) $ with weight A is established, and a known estimate for their norms is improved. It is proved that under some natural assumptions on the functions A, these norms do not exceed two. Bibliography: 24 titles.

The gauss map on a class of interval translation mappings

We study the dynamics of a class of interval translation map on three intervals. We show that in this class the typical ITM is of finite type (reduce to an interval exchange transformation) and that the complement contains a Cantor set. We relate our maps to substitution subshifts. Results on Hausdorff dimension of the attractor and on unique ergodicity are obtained. Ray class fields generated by torsion points of certain elliptic curves

We first normalize the derivative Weierstrass ???-function appearing in the Weierstrass equations which give rise to analytic parametrizations of elliptic curves, by the Dedekind ??-function. And, by making use of this normalization of ???, we associate a certain elliptic curve to a given imaginary quadratic field K and then generate an infinite family of ray class fields over K by adjoining to K torsion points of such an elliptic curve. We further construct some ray class invariants of imaginary quadratic fields by utilizing singular values of the normalization of ???, as the y-coordinate in the Weierstrass equation of this elliptic curve, which would be a partial result towards the Lang?CSchertz conjecture of constructing ray class fields over K by means of the Siegel?CRamachandra invariant.     

Random walks generated by affine mappings

This article is concerned with Markov chains on ^m constructed by randomly choosing an affine map at each stage, and then making the transition from the current point to its image under this map. The distribution of the random affine map can depend on the current point (i.e., state of the chain). Sufficient conditions are given under which this chain is ergodic.     

Differentiability and bifurcation points for a class of monotone nonlinear operators

Positive fixed points for a class of nonlinear operators and applications

In this paper, we study the existence and uniqueness of positive solutions for a class of nonlinear operator equations on ordered Banach spaces. Various applications are also considered to illustrate our obtained results (existence of solutions to quadratic integral equations with a linear modification of the argument, positive solution of second-order Neumann boundary value problem, and positive definite solutions of a class of nonlinear matrix equations).     

Instability analysis of saddle points by a local minimax method

The objective of this work is to develop some tools for local instability analysis of multiple critical points, which can be computationally carried out. The Morse index can be used to measure local instability of a nondegenerate saddle point. However, it is very expensive to compute numerically and is ineffective for degenerate critical points. A local (weak) linking index can also be defined to measure local instability of a (degenerate) saddle point. But it is still too difficult to compute. In this paper, a local instability index, called a local minimax index, is defined by using a local minimax method. This new instability index is known beforehand and can help in finding a saddle point numerically. Relations between the local minimax index and other local instability indices are established. Those relations also provide ways to numerically compute the Morse, local linking indices. In particular, the local minimax index can be used to define a local instability index of a saddle point relative to a reference (trivial) critical point even in a Banach space while others failed to do so.

     

Weighted Sobolev L2 estimates for a class of Fourier integral operators

In this paper we develop elements of the global calculus of Fourier integral operators in ${{\mathbb R}^n}$ under minimal decay assumptions on phases and amplitudes. We also establish global weighted Sobolev L² estimates for a class of Fourier integral operators that appears in the analysis of global smoothing problems for dispersive partial differential equations. As an application, we exhibit a new type of weighted estimates for hyperbolic equations, where the decay of data in space is quantitatively translated into the time decay of solutions.
