A novel wideband tunable linear-cavity fiber laser source using strain-induced chirped fiber Bragg grating (FBG) and erbium–ytterbium co-doped fibers is proposed and demonstrated for the first time. The strain-induced chirped FBG, which acts as a partial-reflecting mirror, is achieved by bending a uniform FBG bonded at a slant onto the lateral surface of a simply supported beam. A single wavelength lasing with a maximum wavelength tuning range of 17 nm has been achieved experimentally.  相似文献

A single-longitudinal-mode (SLM) fiber ring laser is demonstrated by incorporating a fiber Bragg grating (FBG)-based Fabry-Perot (F-P) filter and a variable saturable absorber in a fiber ring cavity. An ultra-narrow bandpass filter is established by the combined mode filtering of the FBG-based F-P filter and the variable saturable absorber. No accurate control for cavity length is required, and stable single longitudinal-mode operation without mode hopping is conveniently achieved.  相似文献

A novel single-longitudinal-mode (SLM) erbium-doped fiber laser with a simple linear cavity based on a fiber Bragg grating Fabry-Perot filter (FBG-FPF) and a narrowband (~0.06 nm) FBG is proposed and demonstrated experimentally. Two uniform FBGs form the FBG-FPF, which has two ultranarrow transmission bands with a bandwidth of 0.12 pm and a wavelength spacing of 0.095 nm. By slightly tuning the central wavelength of the narrowband FBG, SLM lasing at 1549.658 or 1549.563 nm (corresponding to the two transmission peaks of the FBG-FPF) is achieved with a laser output power of ~4 mW, when the pump power is ~75 mW.  相似文献

We demonstrate a multiple wavelength Brillouin/erbium fiber laser in a linear cavity configuration.The laser cavity is made up of a fiber loop mirror on one end of the resonator and a virtual mirror generated from the distributed stimulated Brillouin scattering effect on the other end.Due to the weak reflectivity provided by the virtual mirror,self-lasing cavity modes are completely suppressed from the laser cavity.At Brillouin pump and 1480-nm pump powers of 2 and 130 mW,respectively,11 channels of the demonstrated laser with an average total power of 7.13 dBm can freely be tuned over a span of 37-nm wavelength from 1530 to 1567 nm.  相似文献

We present a simple and stable single-longitudinal-mode (SLM) erbium-doped fiber linear-type laser. It consists of three FBGs directly written in a photosensitive erbium-doped fiber (PEDF) to form asymmetric two cavities with different cavity lengths, which can effectively increase the longitudinal mode spacing and suppress mode hopping, experimentally compared with symmetric two cavities and single-cavity structures. The stable SLM operation is conveniently achieved without accurate control of cavity length, and the laser linewidth of less than 5 kHz is acquired.  相似文献

In this paper, we experimentally investigate a single-longitudinal-mode (SLM) S-band erbiumdoped fiber (EDF) laser with dualring scheme using a S-band fiber Bragg grating (FBG) inside the gain cavity to restrict the lasing mode. The proposed laser is constructed by two-ring cavities serving as the mode filters. The FBG inside the proposed laser scheme can retrieve the SLM operation. Moreover, the output performance of the proposed fiber laser is also analyzed and discussed.  相似文献

A single-longitudinal-mode dual-wavelength fiber ring laser is proposed and demonstrated experimentally by introducing feedback fiber loops and a variable saturable absorber in a fiber ring cavity. A dynamic ultra-narrow bandpass filter is formed by the combined interactions of cascaded fiber Bragg gratings, feedback fiber loops and low-pumped erbium-doped fiber. Both ultra-narrow bandpass filter and accurate control for the cavity length are not required for the single-longitudinal-mode performance. The proposed scheme offers a possibility of generating terahertz waves by photomixing the lasing wavelengths in a high-speed photodetector.  相似文献

A tunable multi-wavelength combined linear-cavity fiber laser source with equally changed wavelength spacing is proposed for the first time. The wavelength tuning is realized by stretching or compressing the fiber Bragg gratings incorporated in the laser cavity. To ensure a wavelength tuning with equally increased or decreased wavelength spacing, the gratings are mounted onto a plastic plate with angles between adjacent gratings such that the forces applied to the gratings has an equal force increment. A four-wavelength lasing with equal increased or decreased wavelength spacing is achieved experimentally.  相似文献

搭建了基于反射型体光栅和半导体可饱和吸收镜的线型腔全正色散掺镱光纤激光器,室温下实现了稳定的波长可连续调谐的连续被动锁模脉冲输出.重复频率16.42 MHz,锁模脉冲中心波长1030 nm时,脉冲光潜带宽0.32 nm,最大平均输出功率10.2 mW,单脉冲能量0.63 nJ.转动体光栅角度,利用其分光谱和选波长的特性,可使锁模脉冲的中心波长在约1011.9一1050.6 nm的范围内调谐,调谐范围约38.7 nm.实验中亦可观察到调Q锁模、二次谐波锁模、双波长和三波长输出现象.输出单波长锁模脉冲时,由于其波长可调谐的特性,该激光器可用作波分复用/光时分复用通信系统的光源和光学相干层析的调谐光源.  相似文献

提出了一种基于线型腔掺铒光纤激光器的光纤布拉格光栅传感解调系统,并进行了理论分析和实验验证。此传感系统具有稳定性好、信噪比高、结构简单等特点。实验结果表明:在常温下光纤光栅传感解调系统能很好的实现光纤光栅传感信号的传感和检测;15m掺铒光纤用作增益介质可以产生较大信噪比的稳定激光输出,系统在4nm范围内的解调精度为0.04nm。  相似文献

A fiber Bragg grating- (FBG-) based fiber-ring laser that utilizes the transmitted light of the FBG as self-injection feedback for single-longitudinal-mode (SLM) oscillation is proposed and demonstrated. This laser is simply constructed by means of feeding back the transmitted light of the FBG and is coupled into the main ring cavity through an optical coupler. The self-injection feedback is the key to ensuring SLM laser oscillation. The SLM operation principle is discussed in detail, and a SLM laser with output power of 6.6 dBm, an optical signal-to-noise ratio of 57 dB at 1549.19 nm, and a short-term linewidth of 3.5 kHz is reported.  相似文献

A single-longitudinal-mode erbium-doped fiber laser with a passive multiple-ring cavity (MRC) is proposed for the first time to the authors' knowledge. The laser is fundamentally structured by insertion of three different short ring cavities, which serve as mode filters, into the main cavity. When it is combined with a mode-restricting intracavity fiber Bragg grating, the MRC resonator ensures single-longitundinal-mode laser oscillation. The laser can successfully suppress side-mode frequencies of as much as 1 GHz and provide an output power of 23 mW with a side-mode suppression ratio of 51 dB at 1533 nm. The short-term linewidth of the laser output measured is ~2 kHz . The ability of this fiber laser to act as an AM transmitter source is also demonstrated.  相似文献

We investigate the dynamics of the excited-state population, the cavity photon number, and the spectrum of an optically pumped nanosecond-pulsed dye laser containing bandwidth-narrowing elements in the cavity. We show that, in order to achieve single-mode operation, the pump-pulse duration has to be long enough and the dye concentration sufficiently high. This is partly due to the frequency shift of the laser spectrum during the decrease of the excited-state population towards its steady-state value. We demonstrate a single-mode dye laser, where single-mode selection is realised with the aid of an intracavity Fox–Smith interferometer. In this way we have obtained 5-ns-long pulses at the wavelength of 590 nm with a pulse energy of 6 mJ and a spectral width of 100 MHz (FWHM). Using a phosphosilicate-doped continuous-wave Raman fiber laser, a 350-m single-mode fiber, and a 50% feedback fiber Bragg grating at 1483.4 nm, we obtained a high-efficiency ultra-broadband (1434–1527 nm) supercontinuum (SC) centered at 1483.4 nm with an average output power of 2.1 W, a spectral intensity of 22.3 mWnm-1, and a nonlinear conversion efficiency of 94%. Increasing the fiber length in the Raman cavity to 1840 m gave simultaneous SC centered at 1483.4 nm and 1239 nm. An average power of 2.3 W in the bandwidth of 1434–1544 nm and 0.2 W in the bandwidth of 1224–1257 nm is obtained. A simple laser-diode pumped acoustic-optic Q-switched fiber laser is reported by using China-made largemode-area ytterbium-doped fiber. Q-switched pulses with a beam quality factor of M2 ≈ 2 and several hundred nanoseconds pulse duration are achieved at the repetition rate of 1 - 50 kHz. When the repetition rate is 1 kHz, the pulse energy is 0.93 mJ with the pulse duration of 132 ns. Meanwhile, the profile of laser pulses shows some mode-locking phenomena, the mechanism of the phenomena is discussed.  相似文献

We report the experimental observation of multiple gain-guided solitons in an erbium-doped fiber laser made of all normal-dispersion fibers. Numerical simulations show that, in the case of a narrow gain bandwidth, under the action of the cavity pulse peak clamping effect multiple gain-guided solitons can indeed be formed in a laser.  相似文献

In this letter, a novel mechanism of hybrid optical bistability is proposed by using nonlinear mechanism in the frequency domain. This device is based on electro-optical feedback through the fiber Bragg grating on piezoelectric transducer (PZT) to tune continuous wave (CW) fiber laser. The optical bistable characteristics for two manners of separately alternating input power and bias voltage are discussed. The smallest wavelength shift of the order of 0.001 nm needed to realize a switching process in this optical bistability device is estimated. The potential applications of this device in the optical fiber sensor technique are also discussed.  相似文献
