We give simple proofs of large deviation theorems for the occupation measure of a Markov chain using a regeneration argument to establish existence and convexity theory to identify the rate function.     

A Functional LIL for m-Fold Integrated Brownian Motion

Let {Xm(t),t∈R } be an m-Fold integrated Brownian motion. In this paper, with the help of small ball probability estimate, a functional law of the iterated logarithm (LIL) for Xm(t) is established. This extends the classic Chung type liminf result for this process. Furthermore, a result about the weighted occupation measure for Xm(t) is also obtained.     

A second order limit law for occupation times of the Cauchy process

The purpose of this note is to extend a second order limit law for one dimensional Cauchy process obtained in Kasahara (Y. Kasahara, Limit theorems for occupation times of Markov processes, Publ. RIMS, Kyoto Univ. 12 (1977), pp. 801–818), using the method of moments and some kind of chaining argument.     

Functional Integrals for the Schrodinger Equation on Compact Riemannian Manifolds

In this paper, we represent the solution of the Cauchy problem for the Schrodinger equation on compact Riemannian manifolds in terms of functional integrals with respect to the Wiener measure corresponding to the Brownian motion in a manifold and with respect to the Smolyanov surface measures constructed from the Wiener measure on trajectories in the underlying space. The representation of the solution is obtained for the case of analytic (on some sets) potential and analytic initial condition under certain assumptions on the geometric characteristics of the manifold. In the proof, we use a method due to Doss and the representations via functional integrals of the solution to the Cauchy problem for the heat equation in a compact Riemannian manifold.

On the Cauchy problem for the transport equation with random noise

We establish the existence and uniqueness of a solution to the Cauchy problem for the transport equation with random noise in Rd. When the vector field is time-periodic and the noise is multiplicative and nondegenerate, we show the existence of a time-periodic measure, which includes an invariant measure as a special case.     

Occupation measure for random walk on the circle

We give bounds on the probability of deviation of the occupation measure of an interval on the circle for random walk.     

The Cauchy process and the Steklov problem

Let X_t be a Cauchy process in . We investigate some of the fine spectral theoretic properties of the semigroup of this process killed upon leaving a domain D. We establish a connection between the semigroup of this process and a mixed boundary value problem for the Laplacian in one dimension higher, known as the “Mixed Steklov Problem.” Using this we derive a variational characterization for the eigenvalues of the Cauchy process in D. This characterization leads to many detailed properties of the eigenvalues and eigenfunctions for the Cauchy process inspired by those for Brownian motion. Our results are new even in the simplest geometric setting of the interval (−1,1) where we obtain more precise information on the size of the second and third eigenvalues and on the geometry of their corresponding eigenfunctions. Such results, although trivial for the Laplacian, take considerable work to prove for the Cauchy processes and remain open for general symmetric α-stable processes. Along the way we present other general properties of the eigenfunctions, such as real analyticity, which even though well known in the case of the Laplacian, are not available for more general symmetric α-stable processes.     

Remarks on ergodicity and invariant occupation measure in branching diffusions with immigration

We give a necessary and sufficient condition for ergodicity with finite invariant occupation measure for branching diffusions with immigration. We do not assume uniformly subcritial reproduction means. We discuss the structure of the invariant occupation measure and of its density.
