In this paper, we will consider a half-space filled with an elastic material, which has constant elastic parameters. The governing equations are taken in a unified system from which the field equations for coupled thermoelasticity as well as for generalized thermoelasticity can be easily obtained as particular cases. A linear temperature ramping function is used to more realistically model thermal loading of the half-space surface. The medium is assumed initially quiescent. Laplace and Fourier transform techniques are used to obtain the general solution for any set of boundary conditions. The general solution obtained is applied to a specific problem of a half-space subjected to ramp-type heating. The inverse Fourier transforms are obtained analytically while the inverse Laplace transforms are computed numerically using a method based on Fourier expansion techniques. Some comparisons have been shown in figures to estimate the effect of the ramping parameter of heating with different theories of thermoelasticity.  相似文献

In this paper, we will consider a half-space filled with an elastic material, which has constant elastic parameters. The governing equations are taken in the context of the two-temperature generalized thermoelasticity theory [Youssef, H., 2005a. The dependence of the modulus of elasticity and the thermal conductivity on the reference temperature in generalized thermoelasticity for an infinite material with a spherical cavity, J. Appl. Math. Mech., 26(4), 4827; Youssef, H., 2005b. Theory of two-temperature generalized thermoelasticity, IMA J. Appl. Math., 1–8]. The medium is assumed initially quiescent. Laplace transform and state space techniques are used to obtain the general solution for any set of boundary conditions. The general solution obtained is applied to a specific problem of a half-space subjected to thermal shock and traction free. The inverse Laplace transforms are computed numerically using a method based on Fourier expansion techniques. Some comparisons have been shown in figures to estimate the effect of the two-temperature parameter.  相似文献

In this work, the magneto-thermoelastic problem of an infinite microstretch homogeneous isotropic plate placed in a transverse magnetic field is studied in the context of different theories of generalized thermoelasticity. The upper surface of the infinite plate is subjected to a zonal time-dependent heat shock. The problem is investigated by applying finite element method. The solution is obtained by solving finite element governing equations of the problem in time domain directly. The results, including temperature, stresses, displacements, microrotation, microstretch, induced magnetic field, and induced electric field, are presented graphically. Comparison is made in the results predicted by different theories of generalized thermoelasticity, to show that the micropolar effect has a slight influence on the results while the microstretch effect has a great influence on the results. Finally, a parameter study provides an idea about the influence of the respective terms of the theories.  相似文献

This paper deals with the problem of magneto-thermoelastic interactions in an unbounded, perfectly conducting half-space whose surface suffers a time harmonic thermal source in the context of micropolar generalized thermoelasticity with fractional heat transfer allowing the second sound effects. The medium is assumed to be unstrained and unstressed initially and has uniform temperature. The Laplace–Fourier double transform technique has been used to solve the resulting non-dimensional coupled field equations. Expressions for displacements, stresses and temperature in the physical domain are obtained using a numerical inversion technique. The effects of fractional parameter, magnetic field and micropolarity on the physical fields are noticed and depicted graphically. For a particular model, these fields are found to be significantly affected by the above mentioned parameters. Some particular cases of interest have been deduced from the present problem. Numerical results predict finite speed of propagation for thermoelastic waves.

The present work is devoted to study effects of the thermally induced vibration, magnetic field and viscoelasticity in an isotropic homogeneous unbounded body with a spherical cavity. The GN model of thermoelasticity without energy dissipation is applied. The closed form solutions for distributions of displacement, temperature and radial and hoop stresses are illustrated. The boundary conditions for the temperature and mechanical and Maxwell’s stresses are employed. The solutions valid in the case of small frequency are deduced and the results are compared with the corresponding results obtained in other generalized thermoelasticity theories. The results obtained are calculated for a copper material and presented graphically. It’s deduced that the magnetic field, viscosity and thermally induced vibration are very pronounced on displacement, temperature and stresses.  相似文献

Abstract

Fractional derivative is a widely accepted theory to describe the physical phenomena and the processes with memory responses which is defined in the form of convolution having kernels as power functions. Due to the shortcomings of power law distributions, some other forms of derivatives with few other kernel functions are proposed. This present study deals with a novel mathematical model of generalized thermoelasticity to investigate the transient phenomena for an infinite porous material subjected to the presence of distributed time-dependent heat source acting over the plane area. The heat transport equation for this problem is involving the memory dependent derivative on a slipping interval in the context of three-phase-lag (3PL) model of generalized thermoelasticity. Employing the Laplace transform as a tool, the analytical results for the distributions of the change in volume fraction field, temperature, stress, and displacement are obtained on solving the vector-matrix differential equation using eigenvalue approach. The numerical inversion of the Laplace transform is performed using the Zakian method. Excellent predictive capability is demonstrated due to the presence of memory dependent derivative and delay time also.

A model of the equations of a generalized thermoelasticity (GT) with relaxation times for a saturated porous medium is given in this article. The formulation can be applied to the GT theories: Lord–Shulman theory, Green–Lindsay theory, and Coupled theory for the porous medium. A two-dimensional thermoelastic problem that is subjected to a time-dependent thermal/mechanical source is investigated with the model of the generalized porous thermoelasticity. By using the Laplace transform and the Fourier transform technique, solutions for the displacement, temperature, pore pressure, and stresses are obtained with a semi-analytical approach in the transform domain. Numerical results are also performed for portraying the nature of variations of the field variables. In addition, comparisons are presented with the corresponding four theories.  相似文献

The present investigation is concerned with an axi-symmetric problem in the electromagnetic micropolar thermoelastic half-space whose surface is subjected to the mechanical or thermal source. Laplace and Hankel transform techniques are used to solve the problem. Various types of sources are taken to illustrate the utility of the approach. Integral transforms are inverted by using a numerical technique to obtain the components of stresses, temperature distribution, and induced electric and magnetic fields. The expressions of these quantities are illustrated graphically to depict the magnetic effect for two different generalized thermoelasticity theories, i.e., Lord and Shulman (L-S theory) and Green and Lindsay (G-L theory). Some particular interesting cases are also deduced from the present investigation.  相似文献

The present paper is concerned with the propagation of plane waves in a transversely isotropic dual-phase-lag generalized thermoelastic solid half-space. The governing equations are solved in x–z plane to show the existence of three plane waves. Reflection of these plane waves from thermally insulated as well as isothermal stress-free surfaces is studied to obtain a system of three non-homogeneous equations in reflection coefficients of reflected waves. For numerical computations of speeds and reflection coefficients, a particular material is modeled as transversely isotropic dual-phase-lag generalized thermoelastic solid half-space. The speeds of plane waves are computed numerically for a certain range of the angle of propagation and are shown graphically against the angle of propagation for the cases of dual-phase-lag (DPL) thermoelasticity, coupled thermoelasticity and Lord–Shulman generalized thermoelasticity. Reflection coefficients of various reflected plane waves are computed numerically for thermally insulated as well as isothermal cases and are shown graphically against the angle of incidence for the cases of DPL thermoelasticity, coupled thermoelasticity and Lord–Shulman generalized thermoelasticity.  相似文献

Abstract

Enlightened by the Caputo fractional derivative, the present study deals with a novel mathematical model of generalized thermoelasticity to investigate the transient phenomena due to the influence of magnetic field and moving heat source in a rod in the context of three-phase lag (TPL) theory of thermoelasticity. Both ends of the rod are fixed and heat insulated. Employing Laplace transform as a tool, the problem has been transformed into the space-domain and solved analytically. Finally, solutions in the real-time domain are obtained by applying the inverse Laplace transform. Numerical calculation for stress, displacement, and temperature within the rod is carried out and displayed graphically. The effect of moving heat source speed on temperature, stress, and temperature is studied. It is found from the distributions that the temperature, thermally induced displacement and stress of the rod are found to decrease at large source speed. For the better understanding of the effect of moving heat source on all the distributions, three animations are added.  相似文献

In this work, we derive a set of governing equations for a mathematical model of generalized thermoelasticity in poroelastic materials. This model predicts finite speeds of propagation of waves contrary to the model of coupled thermoelasticity where an infinite speed of propagation is inherent. Next, we prove the uniqueness of solution of these equations under suitable conditions. We also obtain a reciprocity theorem for these equations. A thermal shock problem for a half-space composed of a poroelastic material saturated with a liquid is then considered. The surface of the half-space is assumed to be traction free, permeable, and subjected to heating. The Laplace transform technique is used to solve the problem. Numerical results for the temperature in the elastic body and fluid, displacement of the elastic body, velocity of the fluid, and stresses for both components are obtained and represented graphically.  相似文献

The present article represents an analysis of reflection of P-wave and SV-wave on the boundary of an isotropic and homogeneous generalized thermoelastic half-space when the boundary is stress-free as well as isothermal. The modulus of elasticity is taken as a linear function of reference temperature. The basic governing equations are applied under four theories of the generalized thermoelasticity: Lord-Shulman (L-S) theory with one relaxation time, Green-Naghdi (G-N) theory without energy dissipation and Tzou theory with dual-phase-lag (DPL), as well as the coupled thermoelasticity (CTE) theory. It is shown that there exist three plane waves, namely, a thermal wave, a P-wave and an SV-wave. The reflection from an isothermal stress-free surface is studied to obtain the reflection amplitude ratios of the reflected waves for the incidence of P- and SV-waves. The amplitude ratios variations with the angle of incident are shown graphically. Also the effects of reference temperature of the modulus of elasticity and dual-phase lags on the reflection amplitude ratios are discussed numerically.  相似文献

The model of one-dimensional equations of the two-temperature generalized magneto-thermoelasticity theory with two relaxation times in a perfect electric conducting medium is established. The state space approach developed in Ezzat (Can J. Phys. Rev. 86(11):1241–1250, 2008) is adopted for the solution of one-dimensional problems. The resulting formulation together with the Laplace transform techniques are applied to a specific problem of a half-space subjected to thermal shock and traction-free surface. The inversion of the Laplace transforms is carried out using a numerical approach. Some comparisons have been shown in figures to estimate the effects of the temperature discrepancy and the applied magnetic field.  相似文献

The model of generalized micropolar magneto-thermoelasticity for a thermally and perfectly conducting half-space is studied. The initial magnetic field is parallel to the boundary of the half-space. The formulation is applied to the generalized thermo-elasticity theories of Lord and Shulman, Green and Lindsay, as well as to the coupled dynamic theory. The normal mode analysis is used to obtain expressions for the temperature increment, the displacement, and the stress components of the model at the interface. By using potential functions, the governing equations are reduced to two fourth-order differential equations. By numerical calculation, the variation of the considered variables is given and illustrated graphically for a magnesium crystal micropolar elastic material. Comparisons are performed with the results predicted by the three theories in the presence of a magnetic field.  相似文献

In this study, a new Green??s function and a new Green-type integral formula for a 3D boundary value problem (BVP) in thermoelastostatics for a quarter-space are derived in closed form. On the boundary half-planes, twice mixed homogeneous mechanical boundary conditions are given. One boundary half-plane is free of loadings and the normal displacements and the tangential stresses are zero on the other one. The thermoelastic displacements are subjected by a heat source applied in the inner points of the quarter-space and by mixed non-homogeneous boundary heat conditions. On one of the boundary half-plane, the temperature is prescribed and the heat flux is given on the other one. When the thermoelastic Green??s function is derived, the thermoelastic displacements are generated by an inner unit point heat source, described by ??-Dirac??s function. All results are obtained in elementary functions that are formulated in a special theorem. As a particular case, when one of the boundary half-plane of the quarter-space is placed at infinity, we obtain the respective results for half-space. Exact solutions in elementary functions for two particular BVPs for a thermoelastic quarter-space and their graphical presentations are included. They demonstrate how to apply the obtained Green-type integral formula as well as the derived influence functions of an inner unit point body force on volume dilatation to solve particular BVPs of thermoelasticity. In addition, advantages of the obtained results and possibilities of the proposed method to derive new Green??s functions and new Green-type integral formulae not for quarter-space only, but also for any canonical Cartesian domain are also discussed.  相似文献

In this research article, the unsteady rotational flow of an Oldroyd-B fluid with fractional derivative model through an infinite circular cylinder is studied by means of the finite Hankel and Laplace transforms. The motion is produced by the cylinder, that after time t=0+, begins to rotate about its axis with an angular velocity Ωt p . The solutions that have been obtained, presented under series form in terms of the generalized G-functions, satisfy all imposed initial and boundary conditions. The corresponding solutions that have been obtained can be easily particularized to give the similar solutions for Maxwell and Second grade fluids with fractional derivatives and for ordinary fluids (Oldroyd-B, Maxwell, Second grade and Newtonian fluids) performing the same motion, are obtained as limiting cases of general solutions. The most important things regarding this paper to mention are that (1) we extracted the expressions for the velocity field and the shear stress corresponding to the motion of Second grade fluid with fractional derivatives as a limiting case of our general solutions corresponding to the Oldroyd-B fluid with fractional derivatives, this is not previously done in the literature to the best of our knowledge, and (2) the expressions for the velocity field and the shear stress are in the most simplified form, and the point worth mentioning is that these expressions are free from convolution product and the integral of the product of the generalized G-functions. Finally, the influence of the pertinent parameters on the fluid motion, as well as a comparison between models, is shown by graphical illustrations.  相似文献

This paper presents the fundamental contact solutions of a magneto-electro-elastic half-space indented by a smooth and rigid half-infinite punch. The material is assumed to be transversely isotropic with the symmetric axis perpendicular to the surface of the half-space. Based on the general solutions, the generalized method of potential theory is adopted to solve the boundary value problems. The involved potentials are properly assumed and the corresponding boundary integral equations are solved by using the results in literature. Complete and exact fundamental solutions are derived case by case, in terms of elementary functions for the first time. The obtained solutions are of significance to boundary element analysis, and an important role in determining the physical properties of materials by indentation technique can be expected to play.  相似文献
