Let \(\ell \) be a prime and let \(L/ \mathbb {Q}\) be a Galois number field with Galois group isomorphic to \( \mathbb {Z}/\ell \mathbb {Z}\). We show that the shape of L, see Definition 1.2, is either \(\frac{1}{2}\mathbb {A}_{\ell -1}\) or a fixed sub-lattice depending only on \(\ell \); such a dichotomy in the value of the shape only depends on the type of ramification of L. This work is motivated by a result of Bhargava and Shnidman, and a previous work of the first named author, on the shape of \( \mathbb {Z}/3 \mathbb {Z}\) number fields.  相似文献

Let \(B_\ell (n)\) denote the number of \(\ell \)-regular bipartitions of n. In this paper, we prove several infinite families of congruences satisfied by \(B_\ell (n)\) for \(\ell \in {\{5,7,13\}}\). For example, we show that for all \(\alpha >0\) and \(n\ge 0\),
$$\begin{aligned} B_5\left( 4^\alpha n+\frac{5\times 4^\alpha -2}{6}\right)\equiv & {} 0 \ (\text {mod}\ 5),\\ B_7\left( 5^{8\alpha }n+\displaystyle \frac{5^{8\alpha }-1}{2}\right)\equiv & {} 3^\alpha B_7(n)\ (\text {mod}\ 7) \end{aligned}$$
and
$$\begin{aligned} B_{13}\left( 5^{12\alpha }n+5^{12\alpha }-1\right) \equiv B_{13}(n)\ (\text {mod}\ 13). \end{aligned}$$

In this paper we focus on the algebraic geometry of the variety of \(\ell \)-groups (i.e. lattice ordered abelian groups). In particular we study the role of the introduction of constants in functional spaces and \(\ell \)-polynomial spaces, which are themselves \(\ell \)-groups, evaluated over other \(\ell \)-groups. We use different tools and techniques, with an increasing level of abstraction, to describe properties of \(\ell \)-groups, topological spaces (with the Zariski topology) and a formal logic, all linked by the underlying theme of solutions of \(\ell \)-equations.  相似文献

Let \(C_1(H)\) denote the space of all trace class operators on an arbitrary complex Hilbert space H. We prove that \(C_1(H)\) satisfies the \(\lambda \)-property, and we determine the form of the \(\lambda \)-function of Aron and Lohman on the closed unit ball of \(C_1(H)\) by showing that
$$\begin{aligned} \lambda (a) = \frac{1 - \Vert a\Vert _1 + 2 \Vert a\Vert _{\infty }}{2}, \end{aligned}$$
for every a in \({C_1(H)}\) with \(\Vert a\Vert _1 \le 1\). This is a non-commutative extension of the formula established by Aron and Lohman for \(\ell _1\).

It is proved that if \(\phi \) is a finite Blaschke product with four zeros, then \(M_\phi \) is reducible on the Dirichlet space with norm \(\Vert \ \Vert \) if and only if \(\phi =\phi _1\circ \phi _2\), where \(\phi _1, \phi _2\) are Blaschke products and \(\phi _2\) is equivalent to \(z^2\). Also, the same reducibility of \(M_\phi \) with finite Blaschke product \(\phi \) on the Dirichlet space under the equivalent norms \(\Vert \ \Vert _1\) and \(\Vert \ \Vert _0\) is given.  相似文献

Let \({\mathcal {LM}}\left( {\mathcal {A}}, P\right) \) be an \(\ell ^1\)-Munn algebra over an arbitrary unital Banach algebra \({\mathcal {A}}\). We characterize homomorphisms from \({\mathcal {LM}}\left( {\mathcal {A}}, P\right) \) into an arbitrary Banach algebra \({\mathcal {B}}\) in terms of homomorphisms from \({\mathcal {A}}\) into \({\mathcal {B}}\). Then we discuss homomorphisms from arbitrary Banach algebras into \({\mathcal {LM}}\left( {\mathcal {A}}, P\right) \). Existence and uniqueness of homomorphisms under certain conditions are also discussed. We apply these results to the concrete case of \(\ell ^1(S)\) where S is a Rees matrix semigroup, to identify characters of \(\ell ^1(S)\) in both cases where S is with or without zero. As a consequence if the sandwich matrix of S has a zero entry, then \(\ell ^1(S)\) is character amenable.  相似文献

We give a solution to the isoperimetric problem for the exponential measure on the plane with the \(\ell _1\)-metric. As it turns out, among all sets of a given measure, the simplex or its complement (i.e. the ball in the \(\ell _1\)-metric or its complement) has the smallest boundary measure. The proof is based on a symmetrisation (along the sections of equal \(\ell _1\)-distance from the origin).  相似文献

The symmetric convex hull of random points that are independent and distributed according to the cone probability measure on the \(\ell _p\)-unit sphere of \({{\mathbb {R}}}^n\) for some \(1\le p < \infty \) is considered. We prove that these random polytopes have uniformly absolutely bounded isotropic constants with overwhelming probability. This generalizes the result for the Euclidean sphere \((p=2)\) obtained by Alonso-Gutiérrez. The proof requires several different tools including a probabilistic representation of the cone measure due to Schechtman and Zinn and moment estimates for sums of independent random variables with log-concave tails originating in a paper of Gluskin and Kwapień.  相似文献

In this paper we study the \(\ell _p\) (or Schatten-p quasi-norm) regularized low-rank approximation problems. In particular, we introduce a class of first-order stationary points for them and show that any local minimizer of these problems must be a first-order stationary point. In addition, we derive lower bounds for the nonzero singular values of the first-order stationary points and hence also of the local minimizers of these problems. The iterative reweighted singular value minimization (IRSVM) methods are then proposed to solve these problems, whose subproblems are shown to have a closed-form solution. Compared to the analogous methods for the \(\ell _p\) regularized vector minimization problems, the convergence analysis of these methods is significantly more challenging. We develop a novel approach to establishing the convergence of the IRSVM methods, which makes use of the expression of a specific solution of their subproblems and avoids the intricate issue of finding the explicit expression for the Clarke subdifferential of the objective of their subproblems. In particular, we show that any accumulation point of the sequence generated by the IRSVM methods is a first-order stationary point of the problems. Our computational results demonstrate that the IRSVM methods generally outperform the recently developed iterative reweighted least squares methods in terms of solution quality and/or speed.  相似文献

Let \(\{X(t):t\in \mathbb R_+\}\) be a stationary Gaussian process with almost surely (a.s.) continuous sample paths, \(\mathbb E X(t) = 0, \mathbb E X^2(t) = 1\) and correlation function satisfying (i) \(r(t) = 1 - C|t|^{\alpha } + o(|t|^{\alpha })\) as \(t\rightarrow 0\) for some \(0\le \alpha \le 2\) and \(C>0\); (ii) \(\sup _{t\ge s}|r(t)|<1\) for each \(s>0\) and (iii) \(r(t) = O(t^{-\lambda })\) as \(t\rightarrow \infty \) for some \(\lambda >0\). For any \(n\ge 1\), consider n mutually independent copies of X and denote by \(\{X_{r:n}(t):t\ge 0\}\) the rth smallest order statistics process, \(1\le r\le n\). We provide a tractable criterion for assessing whether, for any positive, non-decreasing function \(f, \mathbb P(\mathscr {E}_f)=\mathbb P(X_{r:n}(t) > f(t)\, \text { i.o.})\) equals 0 or 1. Using this criterion we find, for a family of functions \(f_p(t)\) such that \(z_p(t)=\mathbb P(\sup _{s\in [0,1]}X_{r:n}(s)>f_p(t))=O((t\log ^{1-p} t)^{-1})\), that \(\mathbb P(\mathscr {E}_{f_p})= 1_{\{p\ge 0\}}\). Consequently, with \(\xi _p (t) = \sup \{s:0\le s\le t, X_{r:n}(s)\ge f_p(s)\}\), for \(p\ge 0\) we have \(\lim _{t\rightarrow \infty }\xi _p(t)=\infty \) and \(\limsup _{t\rightarrow \infty }(\xi _p(t)-t)=0\) a.s. Complementarily, we prove an Erdös–Révész type law of the iterated logarithm lower bound on \(\xi _p(t)\), namely, that \(\liminf _{t\rightarrow \infty }(\xi _p(t)-t)/h_p(t) = -1\) a.s. for \(p>1\) and \(\liminf _{t\rightarrow \infty }\log (\xi _p(t)/t)/(h_p(t)/t) = -1\) a.s. for \(p\in (0,1]\), where \(h_p(t)=(1/z_p(t))p\log \log t\).  相似文献

We prove a dichotomy between absolute continuity and singularity of the Ginibre point process \(\mathsf {G}\) and its reduced Palm measures \(\{\mathsf {G}_{\mathbf {x}}, \mathbf {x} \in \mathbb {C}^{\ell }, \ell = 0,1,2\ldots \}\), namely, reduced Palm measures \(\mathsf {G}_{\mathbf {x}}\) and \(\mathsf {G}_{\mathbf {y}}\) for \(\mathbf {x} \in \mathbb {C}^{\ell }\) and \(\mathbf {y} \in \mathbb {C}^{n}\) are mutually absolutely continuous if and only if \(\ell = n\); they are singular each other if and only if \(\ell \not = n\). Furthermore, we give an explicit expression of the Radon–Nikodym density \(d\mathsf {G}_{\mathbf {x}}/d \mathsf {G}_{\mathbf {y}}\) for \(\mathbf {x}, \mathbf {y} \in \mathbb {C}^{\ell }\).  相似文献

We consider the problem
$$\begin{aligned} \epsilon ^2 \Delta u-V(y)u+u^p\,=\,0,\quad u>0\quad \text{ in }\quad \Omega , \quad \frac{\partial u}{\partial \nu }\,=\,0\quad \text{ on }\quad \partial \Omega , \end{aligned}$$
where \(\Omega \) is a bounded domain in \({\mathbb {R}}^2\) with smooth boundary, the exponent p is greater than 1, \(\epsilon >0\) is a small parameter, V is a uniformly positive, smooth potential on \(\bar{\Omega }\), and \(\nu \) denotes the outward unit normal of \(\partial \Omega \). Let \(\Gamma \) be a curve intersecting orthogonally \(\partial \Omega \) at exactly two points and dividing \(\Omega \) into two parts. Moreover, \(\Gamma \) satisfies stationary and non-degeneracy conditions with respect to the functional \(\int _{\Gamma }V^{\sigma }\), where \(\sigma =\frac{p+1}{p-1}-\frac{1}{2}\). We prove the existence of a solution \(u_\epsilon \) concentrating along the whole of \(\Gamma \), exponentially small in \(\epsilon \) at any fixed distance from it, provided that \(\epsilon \) is small and away from certain critical numbers. In particular, this establishes the validity of the two dimensional case of a conjecture by Ambrosetti et al. (Indiana Univ Math J 53(2), 297–329, 2004).

We consider the positive solutions of the nonlinear eigenvalue problem \(-\Delta _{\mathbb {H}^n} u = \lambda u + u^p, \) with \(p=\frac{n+2}{n-2}\) and \(u \in H_0^1(\Omega ),\) where \(\Omega \) is a geodesic ball of radius \(\theta _1\) on \(\mathbb {H}^n.\) For radial solutions, this equation can be written as an ordinary differential equation having n as a parameter. In this setting, the problem can be extended to consider real values of n. We show that if \(2<n<4\) this problem has a unique positive solution if and only if \(\lambda \in \left( n(n-2)/4 +L^*\,,\, \lambda _1\right) .\) Here \(L^*\) is the first positive value of \(L = -\ell (\ell +1)\) for which a suitably defined associated Legendre function \(P_{\ell }^{-\alpha }(\cosh \theta ) >0\) if \(0 < \theta <\theta _1\) and \(P_{\ell }^{-\alpha }(\cosh \theta _1)=0,\) with \(\alpha = (2-n)/2\).  相似文献

Let \(\overline{A}_{\ell }(n)\) be the number of overpartitions of n into parts not divisible by \(\ell \). In a recent paper, Shen calls the overpartitions enumerated by the function \(\overline{A}_{\ell }(n)\) as \(\ell \)-regular overpartitions. In this paper, we find certain congruences for \(\overline{A}_{\ell }(n)\), when \(\ell =4, 8\), and 9. Recently, Andrews introduced the partition function \(\overline{C}_{k, i}(n)\), called singular overpartition, which counts the number of overpartitions of n in which no part is divisible by k and only parts \(\equiv \pm i\pmod {k}\) may be over-lined. He also proved that \(\overline{C}_{3, 1}(9n+3)\) and \(\overline{C}_{3, 1}(9n+6)\) are divisible by 3. In this paper, we prove that \(\overline{C}_{3, 1}(12n+11)\) is divisible by 144 which was conjectured to be true by Naika and Gireesh.  相似文献

Let E be a Banach lattice with a 1-unconditional basis \(\{e_i: i \in \mathbb {N}\}\). Denote by \(\Delta (\check{\otimes }_{n,\epsilon }E)\) (resp. \(\Delta (\check{\otimes }_{n,s,\epsilon }E)\)) the main diagonal space of the n-fold full (resp. symmetric) injective Banach space tensor product, and denote by \(\Delta (\check{\otimes }_{n,|\epsilon |}E)\) (resp. \(\Delta (\check{\otimes }_{n,s,|\epsilon |}E)\)) the main diagonal space of the n-fold full (resp. symmetric) injective Banach lattice tensor product. We show that these four main diagonal spaces are pairwise isometrically isomorphic. We also show that the tensor diagonal \(\{e_i\otimes \cdots \otimes e_i: i \in \mathbb {N}\}\) is a 1-unconditional basic sequence in both \(\check{\otimes }_{n,\epsilon }E\) and \(\check{\otimes }_{n,s,\epsilon }E\).  相似文献

It is well known that the pseudovariety \(\mathbf {J}\) of all \(\mathscr {J}\)-trivial monoids is not local, which means that the pseudovariety \(g\mathbf {J}\) of categories generated by \(\mathbf {J}\) is a proper subpseudovariety of the pseudovariety \(\ell \mathbf {J}\) of categories all of whose local monoids belong to \(\mathbf {J}\). In this paper, it is proved that the pseudovariety \(\mathbf {J}\) enjoys the following weaker property. For every prime number p, the pseudovariety \(\ell \mathbf {J}\) is a subpseudovariety of the pseudovariety \(g(\mathbf {J}*\mathbf {Ab}_p)\), where \(\mathbf {Ab}_p\) is the pseudovariety of all elementary abelian p-groups and \(\mathbf {J}*\mathbf {Ab}_p\) is the pseudovariety of monoids generated by the class of all semidirect products of monoids from \(\mathbf {J}\) by groups from \(\mathbf {Ab}_p\). As an application, a new proof of the celebrated equality of pseudovarieties \(\mathbf {PG}=\mathbf {BG}\) is obtained, where \(\mathbf {PG}\) is the pseudovariety of monoids generated by the class of all power monoids of groups and \(\mathbf {BG}\) is the pseudovariety of all block groups.  相似文献

In this paper, we study \(\lambda \)-constacyclic codes over the ring \(R=\mathbb {Z}_4+u\mathbb {Z}_4\) where \(u^{2}=1\), for \(\lambda =3+2u\) and \(2+3u\). Two new Gray maps from R to \(\mathbb {Z}_4^{3}\) are defined with the goal of obtaining new linear codes over \(\mathbb {Z}_4\). The Gray images of \(\lambda \)-constacyclic codes over R are determined. We then conducted a computer search and obtained many \(\lambda \)-constacyclic codes over R whose \(\mathbb {Z}_4\)-images have better parameters than currently best-known linear codes over \(\mathbb {Z}_4\).  相似文献

Denoising has to do with estimating a signal \(\mathbf {x}_0\) from its noisy observations \(\mathbf {y}=\mathbf {x}_0+\mathbf {z}\). In this paper, we focus on the “structured denoising problem,” where the signal \(\mathbf {x}_0\) possesses a certain structure and \(\mathbf {z}\) has independent normally distributed entries with mean zero and variance \(\sigma ^2\). We employ a structure-inducing convex function \(f(\cdot )\) and solve \(\min _\mathbf {x}\{\frac{1}{2}\Vert \mathbf {y}-\mathbf {x}\Vert _2^2+\sigma {\lambda }f(\mathbf {x})\}\) to estimate \(\mathbf {x}_0\), for some \(\lambda >0\). Common choices for \(f(\cdot )\) include the \(\ell _1\) norm for sparse vectors, the \(\ell _1-\ell _2\) norm for block-sparse signals and the nuclear norm for low-rank matrices. The metric we use to evaluate the performance of an estimate \(\mathbf {x}^*\) is the normalized mean-squared error \(\text {NMSE}(\sigma )=\frac{{\mathbb {E}}\Vert \mathbf {x}^*-\mathbf {x}_0\Vert _2^2}{\sigma ^2}\). We show that NMSE is maximized as \(\sigma \rightarrow 0\) and we find the exact worst-case NMSE, which has a simple geometric interpretation: the mean-squared distance of a standard normal vector to the \({\lambda }\)-scaled subdifferential \({\lambda }\partial f(\mathbf {x}_0)\). When \({\lambda }\) is optimally tuned to minimize the worst-case NMSE, our results can be related to the constrained denoising problem \(\min _{f(\mathbf {x})\le f(\mathbf {x}_0)}\{\Vert \mathbf {y}-\mathbf {x}\Vert _2\}\). The paper also connects these results to the generalized LASSO problem, in which one solves \(\min _{f(\mathbf {x})\le f(\mathbf {x}_0)}\{\Vert \mathbf {y}-{\mathbf {A}}\mathbf {x}\Vert _2\}\) to estimate \(\mathbf {x}_0\) from noisy linear observations \(\mathbf {y}={\mathbf {A}}\mathbf {x}_0+\mathbf {z}\). We show that certain properties of the LASSO problem are closely related to the denoising problem. In particular, we characterize the normalized LASSO cost and show that it exhibits a “phase transition” as a function of number of observations. We also provide an order-optimal bound for the LASSO error in terms of the mean-squared distance. Our results are significant in two ways. First, we find a simple formula for the performance of a general convex estimator. Secondly, we establish a connection between the denoising and linear inverse problems.  相似文献

Consider the problem of finding a point in a unit n-dimensional \(\ell _p\)-ball (\(p\ge 2\)) such that the minimum of the weighted Euclidean distance from given m points is maximized. We show in this paper that the recent SDP-relaxation-based approximation algorithm (Haines et al., SIAM J Optim 23(4):2264–2294, 2013) will not only provide the first theoretical approximation bound of \(\frac{1-O\left( \sqrt{ \ln (m)/n}\right) }{2}\), but also perform much better in practice, if the SDP relaxation is removed and the optimal solution of the SDP relaxation is replaced by a simple scalar matrix.  相似文献
