Positive solutions for nonlinear periodic problems

We consider a nonlinear periodic problem driven by the scalar p-Laplacian and with a nonsmooth potential. Using the degree map for multivalued perturbations of (S)₊-operators and the spectrum of a weighted eigenvalue problem for the scalar periodic p-Laplacian, we prove the existence of a strictly positive solution. Necessary and sufficient optimality conditions for a class of nonsmooth minimization problems

The purpose of this paper is to derive, in a unified way, second order necessary and sufficient optimality criteria, for four types of nonsmooth minimization problems: thediscrete minimax problem, thediscrete l ₁-approximation, the minimization of theexact penalty function and the minimization of theclassical exterior penalty function. Our results correct and supplement conditions obtained by various authors in recent papers.     

Geometric dual formulation for first-derivative-based univariate cubic <Emphasis Type="Italic">L</Emphasis><Subscript>1</Subscript> splines

With the objective of generating “shape-preserving” smooth interpolating curves that represent data with abrupt changes in magnitude and/or knot spacing, we study a class of first-derivative-based -smooth univariate cubic L ₁ splines. An L ₁ spline minimizes the L ₁ norm of the difference between the first-order derivative of the spline and the local divided difference of the data. Calculating the coefficients of an L ₁ spline is a nonsmooth non-linear convex program. Via Fenchel’s conjugate transformation, the geometric dual program is a smooth convex program with a linear objective function and convex cubic constraints. The dual-to-primal transformation is accomplished by solving a linear program.     

EXISTENCE OF PERIODIC SOLUTIONS FOR A DIFFERENTIAL INCLUSION SYSTEMS INVOLVING THE p（t）-LAPLACIAN

We study a nonlinear periodic problem driven by the p(t)-Laplacian and having a nonsmooth potential (hemivariational inequalities). Using a variational method based on nonsmooth critical point theory for locally Lipschitz functions, we first prove the existence of at least two nontrivial solutions under the generalized subquadratic and then establish the existence of at least one nontrivial solution under the generalized superquadratic.     

Pattern Search Method for Discrete <Emphasis Type="Italic">L</Emphasis><Subscript>1</Subscript>–Approximation

We propose a pattern search method to solve a classical nonsmooth optimization problem. In a deep analogy with pattern search methods for linear constrained optimization, the set of search directions at each iteration is defined in such a way that it conforms to the local geometry of the set of points of nondifferentiability near the current iterate. This is crucial to ensure convergence. The approach presented here can be extended to wider classes of nonsmooth optimization problems. Numerical experiments seem to be encouraging. On the Local Uniqueness of Solutions of Variational Inequalities Under H-Differentiability

In this paper, we give some sufficient conditions for the local uniqueness of solutions to nonsmooth variational inequalities where the underlying functions are H-differentiable and the underlying set is a closed convex set/polyhedral set/box/polyhedral cone. We show how the solution of a linearized variational inequality is related to the solution of the variational inequality. These results extend/unify various similar results proved for C ¹ and locally Lipschitzian variational inequality problems. When specialized to the nonlinear complementarity problem, our results extend/unify those of C ² and C ¹ nonlinear complementarity problems.     

<Emphasis Type="Italic">L</Emphasis><Subscript><Emphasis Type="Italic">p</Emphasis></Subscript>-mixed intersection bodies

In this paper the author first introduce a new concept of L _p -dual mixed volumes of star bodies which extends the classical dual mixed volumes. Moreover, we extend the notions of L _p intersection body to L _p -mixed intersection body. Inequalities for L _p -dual mixed volumes of L _p -mixed intersection bodies are established and the results established here provide new estimates for these type of inequalities. “Two Nontrivial Critical Points for Nonsmooth Functionals via Local Linking and Applications”

In this paper, we extend to nonsmooth locally Lipschitz functionals the multiplicity result of Brezis–Nirenberg (Communication Pure Applied Mathematics and 44 (1991)) based on a local linking condition. Our approach is based on the nonsmooth critical point theory for locally Lipschitz functions which uses the Clarke subdifferential. We present two applications. This first concerns periodic systems driven by the ordinary vector p-Laplacian. The second concerns elliptic equations at resonance driven by the partial p-Laplacian with Dirichlet boundary condition. In both cases the potential function is nonsmooth, locally Lipschitz.     

The decomposition of Kv into K2×K5''''s

The decomposition of the complete graph Kv into Kr×Kc's, the products of Kr and Kc,is originated from the use of DNA library screening. In this paper, we consider the case where r=2 and c = 5, and show that such a decomposition exists if and only if v ≡ 1 (mod 25).     

<Emphasis Type="Italic">∂</Emphasis>-operations and <Emphasis Type="Italic">H</Emphasis><Subscript><Emphasis Type="Italic">V</Emphasis></Subscript>-fields

The hyperoperations, called theta-operations （δ）, are motivated from the usual property, which the derivative has on the derivation of a product of functions. Using any map on a set, one can define δ-operations. In this paper, we continue our study on the δ-operations on groupoids, rings, fields and vector spaces or on the corresponding hyperstructures. Using δ-operations one obtains, mainly, Hwstructures, which form the largest class of the hyperstructures. For representation theory of hyperstructures, by hypermatrices, one needs special Hv-rings or Hy-fields, so these hyperstructures can be used. Moreover, we study the relation of these δ-structures with other classes of hyperstructures, especially with the Hv-structures.     

The L p -curvature images of convex bodies and L p -projection bodies

Associated with the L _p -curvature image defined by Lutwak, some inequalities for extended mixed p-affine surface areas of convex bodies and the support functions of L _p -projection bodies are established. As a natural extension of a result due to Lutwak, an L _p -type affine isoperimetric inequality, whose special cases are L _p -Busemann-Petty centroid inequality and L _p -affine projection inequality, respectively, is established. Some L _p -mixed volume inequalities involving L _p -projection bodies are also established.     

Multiple nontrivial solutions for nonlinear periodic problems with the p-Laplacian

We consider a nonlinear periodic problem driven by the scalar p-Laplacian with a nonsmooth potential (hemivariational inequality). The Coordinatewise Uniformly Kadec–Klee Property in Some Banach Spaces

We introduce a new property UKK _c for a Banach space and show for an Orlicz sequence space the following: UKK _c H _{c 2}.     

Absolute summability of infinite series

It is shown in [4] that if a normal matrix,A satisfies some conditions then |C,1| _k summability implies |A| _k summability wherek≥1. In the present paper, we consider the converse implication.     

Weak Equality and Exact Sequences in H v -modules

The largest class of multivalued systems satisfying the module-like axioms is the H_v-module. H_v-modules first were introduced by Vougiouklis. In this paper we define weak equality between two subsets of an H_v-module and introduced the notion of exact sequences of H_v-modules. Also some results on the weak equality and exact sequences are given.     

Some complete metrics on spaces of fuzzy subsets

The classes of the L_p,∞- and L_p-metrics play an important role to develop a probability theory in fuzzy sample spaces. All of these metrics are known to be separable, but not complete. The classes are closely related as for each L_p,∞-metric there exists some L_p-metric which induces the same topology. This paper deals with the completion of the L_p,∞- and L_p-metrics. We can also show that the relationship between the classes of L_p,∞- and L_p-metrics still holds for the obtained respective classes of their completions.

本文研究了L_p球的相关问题.利用对偶混合体积、球面Radon变换和Fourier变换的方法,获得了关于L_p球的几个新不等式和性质,其中一个不等式与著名的最大切片猜想有关.     

Localization of <Emphasis Type="Italic">LM</Emphasis><Subscript><Emphasis Type="Italic">n</Emphasis></Subscript>-algebras

The aim of this paper is to define the localization LM _n -algebra of an LM _n —algebra L with respect to a topology F on L; in Section 5 we prove that the maximal LM _n -algebra of fractions (defined in [3]) and the LM _n -algebra of fractions relative to an Λ—closed system (defined in Section 2) are LM _n -algebras of localization.     

Connections between stability and asymptotic stability of nonlinear switched systems

Here are considered nonlinear switched systems in which the switching occurs among a class of subsystems that are characterized by input–output properties stated in terms of L_p spaces of signals. The relationships between the L_p stability of each subsystem and the internal stability of the switched system are studied. In particular, conditions on the dwell time of the switching signals that guarantee the asymptotic stability of the overall system are provided. The connections among these conditions and the L_p input–output properties of the subsystems are investigated.
