CdS thin films have been grown on Si(1 1 1) and quartz substrates using femtosecond pulsed laser deposition. X-ray diffraction, atomic force microscopy, photoluminescence measurement, and optical transmission spectroscopy were used to characterize the structure and optical properties of the deposited CdS thin films. The influence of the laser fluence (laser incident energy in the range 0.5–1.5 mJ/pulse) on the structural and optical characterizations of CdS thin films has been studied. The results indicate that the structure and optical properties of the CdS thin films can be improved as increasing the per pulse output energy of the femtosecond laser to 1.2 mJ. But when the per pulse output energy of the femtosecond laser is further increased to 1.5 mJ, which leads to the degradation of the structure and optical properties of the CdS thin films.  相似文献

ZnO thin films were grown on Si(1 0 0) substrates using pulsed laser deposition in O2 gas ambient (10 Pa) and at different substrate temperatures (25, 150, 300 and 400 °C). The influence of the substrate temperature on the structural and morphological properties of the films was investigated using XRD, AFM and SEM. At substrate temperature of T=150 °C, a good quality ZnO film was fabricated that exhibits an average grain size of 15.1 nm with an average RMS roughness of 3.4 nm. The refractive index and the thickness of the thin films determined by the ellipsometry data are also presented and discussed.  相似文献

The development of laser techniques for the deposition of polymer and biomaterial thin films on solid surfaces in a controlled manner has attracted great attention during the last few years. Here we report the deposition of thin polymer films, namely Polyepichlorhydrin by pulsed laser deposition. Polyepichlorhydrin polymer was deposited on flat substrate (i.e. silicon) using an NdYAG laser (266 nm, 5 ns pulse duration and 10 Hz repetition rate). The obtained thin films have been characterized by atomic force microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and spectroscopic ellipsometry. It was found that for laser fluences up to 1.5 J/cm2 the chemical structure of the deposited polyepichlorhydrin polymer thin layers resembles to the native polymer, whilst by increasing the laser fluence above 1.5 J/cm2 the polyepichlorohydrin films present deviations from the bulk polymer.Morphological investigations (atomic force microscopy and scanning electron microscopy) reveal continuous polyepichlorhydrin thin films for a relatively narrow range of fluences (1-1.5 J/cm2).The wavelength dependence of the refractive index and extinction coefficient was determined by ellipsometry studies which lead to new insights about the material. The obtained results indicate that pulsed laser deposition method is potentially useful for the fabrication of polymer thin films to be used in applications including electronics, microsensor or bioengineering industries.  相似文献

In this paper the structure, morphology and optical properties of Pd thin films deposited on glass substrate by pulse laser deposition technique at two different substrate temperatures have been investigated. The fabricated films were characterized by various methods such as XRD, AFM, and UV-vis-NIR spectroscopy. The influence of surface roughness and angle of incidence with p polarization was investigated experimentally by optical property of palladium (Pd) thin films of two different thicknesses and rms roughness from transmission measurement in the visible spectral range. It has been shown that the experimental transmittance spectra agree well with their theoretical values for absorbing Pd thin film. The transmittance of thin film increases with increase in incident angle for the same sample.  相似文献

Amorphous silicon carbide (SiC) thin films were deposited on silicon substrates by pulsed laser ablation at room temperature. Thicknesses and surface morphology of the thin films were characterized using optical profilers, atomic force and field emission scanning electron microscopy. Nanohardnes, modulus and scratch resistance properties were determined using XP nanoindenter. The results show that crack free, smooth and nanostructured thin films can be deposited using low laser energy densities.  相似文献

Aiming at improving the durability of anodic electrochromic nickel oxide thin films, Ni-M-O (M = Co, Ta) thin films were grown by pulsed laser deposition (PLD), using optimized conditions, namely room temperature and 10−1 mbar oxygen pressure. For low Co and Ta contents (<5%), both additions lead to a loss of the [1 1 1] preferred orientation of the NiO rock-salt structure followed by a film amorphization with increasing Ta amount. Among the two series of metal additions (M ≤ 20%), the Ni-Co-O (5% Co) and Ni-Ta-O (10% Ta) thin films show the highest electrochemical performances especially in respect of improved durability. If the enhanced properties are associated with a limited dissolution of the oxidized phase for the Ni-Ta-O system, the opposite trend is observed for the Ni-Co-O system as compared to pure NiO.  相似文献

LiMn2O4 thin films were deposited by reactive pulsed laser deposition technique and studied the microstructural and electrical properties of the films. The LiMn2O4 thin films deposited in an oxygen partial pressure of 100 mTorr and at a substrate temperature of 573 K from a lithium rich target were found to be nearly stoichiometric. The films exhibited predominantly (111) orientation representing the cubic spinel structure with Fd3m symmetry. The intensity of (111) peak increased and a slight shift in the peak position was observed with the increase of substrate temperature. The lattice parameter increased from 8.117 to 8.2417 Å with the increase of substrate temperature from 573 to 873 K. The electrical conductivity of the films is observed to be a strong function of temperature. The evaluated activation energy for the films deposited at 873 K is 0.64 eV.  相似文献

Carbon nitride films have been deposited by KrF excimer laser ablation of a rotating graphite target in 5 Pa nitrogen ambient in an inverse pulsed laser deposition configuration, where the backward motion of the ablated species is utilised for film growth on substrates lying in the target plane. Topometric AFM scans of the films, exhibiting elliptical thickness distribution, have been recorded along the axes of symmetry of the deposition area. High resolution AFM scans revealed the existence of disk-like, or somewhat elongated rice-like features of 5-10 nm average thickness and ∼100 nm largest dimension, densely packed over the whole, approximately 14 × 10 cm2 deposition area. The RMS roughness of the film decreased from 9 nm near to the laser spot down to 2 nm in the outer regions. Even the highest RMS value obtained for IPLD films was less than half of the typical, 25 nm roughness measured on simultaneously deposited PLD films.  相似文献

Preferentially-oriented aluminum nitride (AlN) films are grown directly on natively-oxidized Si (100) substrate by pulsed laser deposition (PLD) in nitrogen (N2) environment. The AlN preferential orientation changes from (002) to (100) with increasing N2 pressure. Such different behaviors are discussed in terms of deposition-rate-dependent preferential orientation, kinetic energy of depositing species and confinement of laser plume. Finally, sample deposited at 0.9 Pa is proved to have the highest (002) peak intensity, the lowest FWHM value, the highest deposition rate and a relatively low RMS roughness (1.138 nm), showing the optimal growth condition for c-axis-oriented AlN growth at this N2 pressure.  相似文献

Vanadium-doped ZnO films (Zn1−xVxO, where x = 0.02, 0.03, 0.05 and 0.07), were formed from ceramic targets on c-cut sapphire substrates using pulsed laser deposition at substrate temperature of 600 °C and oxygen pressure of 10 Pa. In order to clarify how the vanadium concentration influences the films’ properties, structural and magnetic investigations were performed. All films crystallised in wurtzite phase and presented a c-axis preferred orientation at low concentrations of vanadium. The results implied that the doping concentration and crystalline microstructure influence strongly the system's magnetic characteristics. Weak ferromagnetism was registered for the film with the lowest doping concentration (2 at.%), which exhibited a ferromagnetic behavior at Curie temperature higher than 300 K. Increasing the vanadium content in the film caused degradation of the magnetic ordering.  相似文献

CaxCo4Sb12 skutterudite thin films have been prepared by pulsed laser deposition using a Nd:YAG laser working at 532 or 266 nm of wavelength. Characterization has been carried out by X-ray diffraction, atomic force microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. Emphasis has been put on the difficulty to obtain the skutterudite phase. Influence of the deposition temperature, the way of sticking the substrate, the laser fluence, the base pressure prior to deposition and the laser wavelength has been studied. All parameters revealed to have a drastic effect, and the skutterudite could only be achieved in a very narrow range of temperature and laser fluence, for a given wavelength, showing the importance on how these parameters are measured to ensure reproducible results.  相似文献

Amorphous thin films (1 − x)(4GeSe2-Ga2Se3)-xKBr (x = 0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3) were prepared by the pulsed laser deposition (PLD) technique. The optical parameters were calculated using the Swanepoel method from the optical transmission spectra. The optical band gap () of the studied films increased while the index of refraction decreased when increased the content of KBr. The Tauc slopes were discussed as an indicator of the degree of structural randomness of amorphous semiconductors. The index of refraction decreased and increased after annealing of as-deposited films below the glass transition temperature. The thermal-bleaching and thermal- contraction effects were observed, which are discussed in relation to the reduction in the density of homopolar bonds confirmed by the Raman spectra analysis and the decreased amount of fragments of the as-deposited films, respectively.  相似文献

Highly non-stoichiometric indium tin oxide (ITO) thin films were grown by pulsed energy beam deposition (pulsed laser deposition-PLD and pulsed electron beam deposition-PED) under low oxygen pressure. The analysis of the structure and electrical transport properties showed that ITO films with a large oxygen deficiency (more than 20%) are nanocomposite films with metallic (In, Sn) clusters embedded in a stoichiometric and crystalline oxide matrix. The presence of the metallic clusters induces specific transport properties, i.e. a metallic conductivity via percolation with a superconducting transition at low temperature (about 6 K) and the melting and freezing of the In-Sn clusters in the room temperature to 450 K range evidenced by large changes in resistivity and a hysteresis cycle. By controlling the oxygen deficiency and temperature during the growth, the transport and optical properties of the nanocomposite oxide films could be tuned from metallic-like to insulating and from transparent to absorbing films.  相似文献

Mixtures of transparent and conductive oxides such as ITO-ZnO have been grown by a combinatorial pulsed laser deposition technique from two targets that were located 15 mm apart. The films were deposited on (1 0 0)Si and quartz substrates that were heated at temperatures from 300 to 500 °C. Measurements of the In to Zn ratios along the transversal axis of the substrates, which passes through the maximum thickness points corresponding to each target position were performed using energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and spectroscopic ellipsometry. From simulations of the X-ray reflectivity spectra, collected with a 2 mm mask on different locations along the transversal axis of the samples, the density and thickness of the deposited films were calculated and then the In to Zn ratios. The crystalline structure and electrical properties of the deposited films were also investigated along the same axis. Changes in the ratio of In/Zn along this axis resulted in changes of the film lattice constant and texture.  相似文献

Perovskites thin films with the composition La0.6Ca0.4MnO3 doped with 20% Fe, were prepared by pulsed reactive crossed beam laser ablation, where a synchronized reaction gas pulse interacts with the ablation plume. The films were grown on various substrates and the highest colossal magnetoresistance ratio (CMR) was detected by Hall measurements for films grown on LaAlO3 (1 0 0), which was selected as substrate for further investigations.Several growth parameters, such as substrate temperature and target to substrate distance were varied to analyze their influence on the film properties. The structure of the deposited thin films was characterized by X-ray diffraction and atomic force microscope, while Rutherford backscattering (RBS) was used to determine the film stoichiometry. The electrical properties were determined by Hall effect measurements in a magnetic field of 0.51 T.These measurements reveal that the amplitude of the CMR ratio depends strongly on the substrate and that the oxygen content influences the temperature where the transition from semiconductor to metal is observed.  相似文献

p-Type ZnO thin films have been realized via doping Li as acceptor by using pulsed laser deposition. In our experiment, Li2CO3 was used as Li precursor, and the growth temperature was varied from 400 to 600 °C in pure O2 ambient. The Li-doped ZnO film prepared at 450 °C possessed the lowest resistivity of 34 Ω cm with a Hall mobility of 0.134 cm2 V−1 s−1 and hole concentration of 1.37 × 1018 cm−3. X-ray diffraction (XRD) measurements showed that the Li-doped ZnO films grown at different substrate temperatures were of completely (0 0 2)-preferred orientation.  相似文献

Si K-edge XAFS was used to characterize a stoichiometric SiC film prepared by pulsed KrF laser deposition. The film was deposited on a p-type Si(1 0 0) wafer at a substrate temperature of 250 °C in high vacuum with a laser fluence of ∼5 J/cm2. The results reveal that the film contains mainly a SiC phase with an amorphous structure in which the Si atoms are bonded to C atoms in its first shell similar to that of crystalline SiC powder but with significant disorder.  相似文献

ZnO thin films with typical c-axis (0 0 2) orientation were successfully deposited on quartz glass substrates by pulse laser ablation of Zn target in oxygen atmosphere at a relatively low temperature range of 100-250 °C. The structural and optical properties of the films were studied. In photoluminescence (PL) spectra at room temperature, single ultraviolet emission (without deep-level emission) was obtained from ZnO film deposited at the temperature of 200 °C. This was attributed to its low intrinsic defects.  相似文献
