Diffraction of uniformly polarized laser beams with vortex phase singularity is theoretically analyzed using the plane wave expansion. It is shown that for a high numerical aperture, an intense longitudinal electric field component is formed on the optical axis in this case. It is numerically demonstrated that an analogous effect is ensured for diffraction of a conventional Gaussian beam from asymmetric binary axicons. The field intensity on the optical axis can be varied either by rotating the optical element or by changing the direction of polarization of radiation.  相似文献

The propagation of elastic waves in piezoelectric and magnetostrictive materials is considered theoretically. It is shown that an elastic wave in a piezoelectric can create not only a longitudinal electric field parallel to the wave normal (longitudinal piezoactivity) but also a transverse field of electric induction (transverse piezoactivity). The presence of a transverse induction field leads to the appearance of a magnetic field perpendicular to the direction of the wave normal and to the induction vector; therefore, the transverse-piezoactive wave is accompanied by a transverse wave having the structure of an electromagnetic wave and propagating with the speed of sound. A mathematical model of evolution of the space–time spectra of nonparaxial few-cycle optical waves in isotropic dielectric media with an arbitrary dispersion of the refractive index and the inertialess third-order nonlinearity has been discussed. It has been shown that, at the self-focusing of a wave single-cycle at the input to a nonlinear medium into an optical filament with transverse dimensions comparable with the central radiation wavelength, the strength of the increased longitudinal component of its electric field can become larger than the initial longitudinal component by a factor of 7 and can be 18% of the transverse component of the input wave field. Errors of the calculations of the self-action of radiation with superwide time and spatial spectra within simplified mathematical models have been estimated.  相似文献

By the methods of classical theory, the motion of an electron in the field of a longitudinal electric wave is analyzed. This field may be taken as a model of the accelerating field at the axis of a linear accelerator. The density of the current associated with the drag of charge carriers in a superlattice by an elliptically polarized electromagnetic wave is calculated. Two cases of the mutual orientation of the Umov-Poynting vector and the superlattice axis, i.e., their parallel and perpendicular orientations, are analyzed. It is shown that, for the parallel orientation, the radioelectric effect can change sign. The influence of the longitudinal dc electric field on the radioelectric effect is investigated under the conditions where a circularly polarized electromagnetic wave propagates along the superlattice axis. The current density is studied as a function of the electric field strength and the electromagnetic wave intensity. It is demonstrated that the direction of the electric current is changed at specific values of the dc field strength and the wave intensity.  相似文献

The direct component of the electric current induced in graphene placed in a constant magnetic field has been found in the case where two electromagnetic waves with two mutually perpendicular planes of polarization are normally incident on the surface of the sample. It has been demonstrated that the direct component of the current along the direction of the electric field vector of the wave with the frequency ω1 arises only when the ratio between the frequencies of the incident waves is ω12 = 2 or 1/2. In the latter case, the direct current component appears only in the presence of a magnetic field.  相似文献

Fundamental errors in a paper by Chubykalo et al. [2] are highlighted. Contrary to their claim that “… the irrotational component of the electric field has a physical meaning and can propagate exclusively instantaneously,” it is shown that this instantaneous component is physically irrelevant because it is always canceled by a term contained in the solenoidal component. This result follows directly from the solution of the wave equation that satisfies the solenoidal component. Therefore the subsequent inference of these authors that there are two mechanisms of transmission of energy and momentum in classical electrodynamics, one retarded and the other one instantaneous, has no basis. The example given by these authors in which the full electric field of an oscillating charge equals its instantaneous irrotational component on the axis of oscillations is proven to be false.  相似文献

The conversion of energy between seismic and electromagnetic wave fields has been described by Pride’s coupled equations in porous media. In this paper, the seismoelectric field excited by the explosive point source located at the outside of the borehole is studied. The scattering fields inside and outside a borehole are analyzed and deduced under the boundary conditions at the interface between fluid and porous media. The influences of the distance of the point source, multipole components of the eccentric explosive source, and the receiving position along the axis of vertical borehole, on the converted waves inside the borehole are all investigated. When the distance from the acoustic source to the axis of a borehole is far enough, the longitudinal and coseismic longitudinal wave packets dominate the acoustic and electric field, respectively. The three components of both electric field and magnetic field can be detected, and the radial electric field is mainly excited and converted by the dipole component. Owing to the existence of borehole, the electric fields and magnetic fields in the borehole are azimuthal. The distance from the point where the maximum amplitude of the axial components of electric field is recorded, to the origin of coordinate indicates the horizontal distance from the explosive source to the axis of vertical borehole.  相似文献

The Multicaloric effect in the PbZr0.8Ti0.2O3 thin films is investigated with the application of sine wave electric field, dc electric field and stress using a phase field method combined with the thermodynamic analysis. The simulation results show that the adiabatic temperature change-electric field curve presents a shape of butterfly in the presence of the sine wave electric field. In order to detect the effect of the sine wave electric field, the multicaloric effect and the domain structures under the direct electric field and the sine wave electric field are compared. It is found that the domain switching behaviors are quite different under the different applied electric fields. And the negative multicaloric effect in the PbZr0.8Ti0.2O3 thin film is attribute to the domain switching under the external field.  相似文献

Properties of six-component electromagnetic field solutions of a matrix form of the Maxwell equations, analogous to the four-component solutions of the Dirac equation, are described. It is shown that the six-component equation, including sources, is invariant under Lorentz transformations. Complete sets of eigenfunctions of the Hamiltonian for the electromagnetic fields, which may be interpreted as photon wave functions, are given both for plane waves and for angular-momentum eigenstates. Rotationally invariant projection operators are used to identify transverse or longitudinal electric and magnetic fields. For plane waves, the velocity transformed transverse wave functions are also transverse, and the velocity transformed longitudinal wave functions include both longitudinal and transverse components. A suitable sum over these eigenfunctions provides a Green function for the matrix Maxwell equation, which can be expressed in the same covariant form as the Green function for the Dirac equation. Radiation from a dipole source and from a Dirac atomic transition current are calculated to illustrate applications of the Maxwell Green function.  相似文献

The effects of longitudinal purely spatial coherence of light and the results of observation of these effects in an interference experiment are considered under the condition that the length of temporal coherence l c is considerably smaller than the length of longitudinal spatial coherence ρ of the field. It is shown that, for l c ? ρ, the longitudinal purely spatial coherence of the light field in fact governs the coherence of the wave train in the process of its propagation. The length and the time of coherent (“free”) path of the wave train are considered as new spatial and temporal scales of a partially coherent light field.  相似文献

Investigations on the optimization of feed structures for exciting the slotted line antenna for high-density plasma production are presented. Each feed structure used (except the direct feed) excites a preferred component of the wave electric/magnetic field. It is seen that the efficacy of plasma production using the different feeds depends directly on the relative importance of the field components (which the feeds excite) for the flow wave mode of the antenna. The optimal feed is shown to be a dipole antenna, oriented so as to excite the radial component of the electric field within the slotted line structure. The plasma characterization results as a function of the input microwave power and the magnetic field in the antenna region are also presented and discussed. The ability of the antenna to maintain high-density plasmas well away from electron-cyclotron resonance is demonstrated  相似文献

High quality Mössbauer spectra of γ-Fe2O3 particles have been analyzed in detail to determine the effects of overlapping patterns, quadrupole splitting, and applied magnetic fields. The results are discussed with regard to the use of Mössbauer spectroscopy to measure particle and magnetic moment orientation. Data were collected from two samples at 4.2–315K and with 6.1T longitudinal and 1.65T transverse magnetic fields applied. It is shown that electric field gradient effects alone are insufficient to account for the presence of ΔmI=0 lines when a large longitudinal field is applied.  相似文献

The study of Weyl semimetals is one of the most challenging problems of condensed matter physics. These materials exhibit interesting properties in a magnetic field. In this work, we investigate the Landau bands and the density of states (DOS) oscillations in a Weyl semimetal in crossed magnetic and electric fields. An expression is obtained for the energy spectrum of the system using the following three different methods: an algebraic approach, a Lorentz shift-based approach, and a quasi-classical approach. It is interesting that the energy spectrum calculated in terms of the quasi-classical approach coincides with the spectrum obtained using the microscopic approaches. An electric field is shown to change the Landau bands radically. In addition, the classical motion of a three-dimensional Dirac fermion in crossed fields is studied. In the case of a Dirac spectrum, the longitudinal (with respect to magnetic field) component of momentum (p z H) is shown to be an oscillating function of the magnetic field. When the electric field is vH/c, the Landau levels collapse and the motion becomes fully linear in an unusual manner. In this case, the wavefunction of bulk states vanishes and only states with p z = 0 are retained. An electric field affects the character of DOS oscillations. An analytical expression is obtained for the quantum capacitance in crossed fields in the cases of strong and weak electric fields. Thus, an electric field is an additional parameter for adjusting the diamagnetic properties of Weyl semimetals.  相似文献

TM-polarized optical surface polaritons in a nonlinear semiconductor–nanocomposite guiding structure have been considered. The nanocomposite consists of alternating layers of bismuth-containing garnet ferrite (BIG, Lu3 – xBixFe5 – yGayO12) and gallium–gadolinium garnet (Gd3Ga5O12), and the semiconductor (n-InSb) has a cubic nonlinearity and is characterized by two components of the nonlinear susceptibility tensor. With allowance for the anisotropy of the optical properties of the nanocomposite, caused by the magnetization of the BIG layers, the dispersion relation has been obtained and analyzed and its solutions are shown to split into two pairs of high- and low-frequency branches. The influence of the electric field at the interface on the wave characteristics and the existence domains of nonlinear surface TM polaritons has been studied. By solving the inverse problem of finding the profile of the longitudinal electric component of the surface polariton, it has been found that the nonlinearity gives rise to soliton-like wave fields.  相似文献

A longitudinal ultrasonic wave should drag the vortex structure of superconductors at an acute angle with respect to the direction of wave propagation. This motion engenders longitudinal and transverse electric fields in the superconductor and, moreover, effects of the “optical rectification” type contribute to the observed longitudinal and transverse electric fields. The effect should be observed in all type-II superconductors above the irreversibility line. Both fields have extrema with respect to temperature and magnetic field. A new type of partial-dielectric-loaded helical groove slow-wave structure (SWS) for millimetre wave travelling wave tube (TWT) is presented in this paper.The radio-frequency characteristics including the dispersion properties,the longitudinal electric field distribution and the beam-wave coupling impedance of this structure are analysed.The results show that the dispersion of the helical groove circuit is weakened,the phase velocity is reduced and the position of the maximum Ez is moved from the mouth to the inside of the groove after partially filling the dielectric materials in the helical groove SWS.Therefore,the dielectric-loaded helical groove SWS is suitable for a multi-beam TWT with broad band and high gain.  相似文献

The effect of the longitudinal component of an electromagnetic wave on the self-resonant motion of electrons in waveguides is considered. The equation of motion for electrons in a plane, longitudinal-transverse, circularly polarized wave has been solved by the method of successive approximations with allowance for the longitudinal integral of motion present in such a wave. The expansion parameter is the ratio of the amplitudes of the longitudinal and transverse components of the wave. For the case n < 1 the longitudinal field of the wave does not change the nature of the electron motion, but only induces weak oscillations about a solution that does not include the longitudinal field.
