M-Band and L-Band Gold spectra between 3 and 5 keV and 8 and 13 keV, respectively, have been recorded by a photometrically calibrated crystal spectrometer. The spectra were emitted from the plasma in the laser deposition region of a ‘hot hohlraum’. This is a reduced-scale hohlraum heated with ≈9 kJ of 351 nm light in a 1 ns square pulse at the OMEGA laser. The space- and time-integrated spectra included L-Band line emission from Co-like to Ne-like gold. The three L-Band line features were identified to be the 3s  2p, 3d5/2  2p3/2 and 3d3/2  2p1/2 transitions at ≈9 keV, ≈10 keV and ≈13 keV, respectively. M-Band 5f  3d, 4d  3p, and 4p  3s transition features from Fe-like to P-like gold were also recorded between 3 and 5 keV. Modeling from the radiation–hydrodynamics code LASNEX, the collisional-radiative codes FLYCHK and SCRAM, and the atomic structure code FAC were used to model the plasma and generate simulated spectra for comparison with the recorded spectra. Through these comparisons, we have determined the average electron temperature of the emitting plasma to be between 6.0 and 6.5 keV. The electron temperatures predicted by LASNEX appear to be too large by a factor of about 1.5.  相似文献

Results on diagnoses of laser-driven, shock-heated foam plasma with time-resolved Al 1s-2p absorption spectroscopy are reported. Experiments were carried out to produce a platform for the study of relativistic electron transport. In cone-guided Fast Ignition (FI), relativistic electrons generated by a high-intensity, short-pulse igniter beam must be transported through a cone tip to an imploded core. Transport of the energetic electrons could be significantly affected by the temperature-dependent resistivity of background plasmas. The experiment was conducted using four UV beams of the OMEGA EP laser at the Laboratory For Laser Energetics. One UV beam (1.2 kJ, 3.5 ns square) was used to launch a shock wave into a foam package target, consisting of 200 mg/cm3 CH foam with aluminum dopant and a solid plastic container surrounding the foam layer. The other three UV beams with the total energy of 3.2 kJ in 2.5 ns pulse duration were tightly focused onto a Sm dot target to produce a point X-ray source in the energy range of 1.4–1.6 keV. The quasi-continuous X ray signal was transmitted through the shock-heated Al-doped, foam layer and recorded with an X-ray streak camera. The measured 1s-2p Al absorption features were analyzed using an atomic physics code FLYCHK. Electron temperature of 40 eV inferred from the spectral analysis is consistent with 2-D DRACO Radiation-hydrodynamic simulations.  相似文献

The FLASH XUV-free electron laser has been used to irradiate solid samples at intensities of the order 1016 W cm?2 at a wavelength of 13.5 nm. The subsequent time integrated XUV emission was observed with a grating spectrometer. The electron temperature inferred from plasma line ratios was in the range 5–8 eV with electron density in the range 1021–1022 cm?3. These results are consistent with the saturation of absorption through bleaching of the L-edge by intense photo-absorption reported in an earlier publication.  相似文献

We present measurements of the chlorine K-alpha emission from reduced mass targets, irradiated with ultra-high intensity laser pulses. Chlorinated plastic targets with diameters down to 50 μm and mass of a few 10?8 g were irradiated with up to 7 J of laser energy focused to intensities of several 1019 W/cm2. The conversion of laser energy to K-alpha radiation is measured, and high-resolution spectra that allow observation of line shifts are observed, indicating isochoric heating of the target up to 18 eV. A zero-dimensional 2-temperature equilibration model, combined with electron impact K-shell ionization and post processed spectra from collisional radiative calculations reproduces the observed K-alpha yields and line shifts, and shows the importance of target expansion due to the hot electron pressure.  相似文献

This paper presents Large Eddy Simulations (LES) of flow around a four-vehicle platoon when one of the platoon members was forced to undergo in-line oscillations. The LES were made at the Reynolds number of 105 based on the height of the vehicles. Combinations of two different frequencies corresponding to non-dimensional frequencies at the Strouhal numbers St1 = 0.025 and St2 = 0.013 and two oscillation amplitudes were used in this study. The methodology was validated by comparisons with data from previous experimental investigations. In order to highlight the dynamic effects, comparisons were made with steady results on a single vehicle and on a four-vehicle platoon. Large differences were found in the flow structures between quasi-steady and dynamic results. Furthermore, the behavior of the drag coefficient of the upstream neighbor of the oscillating model was investigated.  相似文献

The studies emphasize investigation of plasma formation, implosion, and radiation features as a function of two load configurations: compact multi-planar and cylindrical wire arrays. Experiments with different Z-pinch loads were performed on 1.6 MA, 100 ns, Zebra generator at University of Nevada, Reno. The multi-planar wire arrays (PWAs) were studied in open and closed configurations with Al, Cu, brass, Mo and W wires. In the open magnetic configurations (single, double, triple PWAs) magnetic fields are present inside the arrays from the beginning of discharge, while in closed configurations (prism-like PWA) the global magnetic field is excluded inside before plasma flow occurs. The new prism-like PWA allows high flexibility in control of implosion dynamics and precursor formation. The spectral modeling, magneto-hydrodynamic (MHD) and wire ablation dynamic model (WADM) codes were used to describe the plasma evolution and plasma parameters. Experimentally observed electron temperature and density in multiple bright spots reached 1.4 keV and 5 × 1021 cm?3, respectively. Two types of bright spots were observed. With peak currents up to 1.3 MA opacity effects became more pronounced and led to a limiting of the X-ray yields from compact cylindrical arrays. Despite different magnetic energy to plasma coupling mechanisms early in the implosion a comparison of compact double PWA and cylindrical WA results indicates that during the stagnation stage the same plasma heating mechanism may occur. The double PWA was found to be the best radiator tested at University scale 1 MA generator. It is characterized by a combination of larger yield and power, mm-scale size, and provides the possibility of radiation pulse shaping. Further, the newer configuration, the double PWA with skewed wires, was tested and showed the possibility of a more effective X-ray generation.  相似文献

Emissions from major agricultural residues were measured using a self-designed combustion system. Emission factors (EFs) of organic carbon (OC), elemental carbon (EC), and water-soluble ions (WSIs) (K+, NH4+, Na+, Mg2+, Ca2+, Cl, NO3, SO42–) in smoke from wheat and rice straw were measured under flaming and smoldering conditions. The OC1/TC (total carbon) was highest (45.8% flaming, 57.7% smoldering) among carbon fractions. The mean EFs for OC (EFOC) and EC (EFEC) were 9.2 ± 3.9 and 2.2 ± 0.7 g/kg for wheat straw and 6.4 ± 1.9 and 1.1 ± 0.3 g/kg for rice straw under flaming conditions, while they were 40.8 ± 5.6 and 5.8 ± 1.0 g/kg and 37.6 ± 6.3 and 5.0 ± 1.4 g/kg under smoldering conditions, respectively. Higher EC ratios were observed in particulate matter (PM) mass under flaming conditions. The OC and EC for the two combustion patterns were significantly correlated (p < 0.01, R = 0.95 for wheat straw; p < 0.01, R = 0.97 for rice straw), and a higher positive correlation between OC3 and EC was observed under both combustion conditions. WSIs emitted from flaming smoke were dominated by Cl and K+, which contributed 3.4% and 2.4% of the PM mass for rice straw and 2.2% and 1.0% for wheat straw, respectively. The EFs of Cl and K+ were 0.73 ± 0.16 and 0.51 ± 0.14 g/kg for wheat straw and 0.25 ± 0.15 and 0.12 ± 0.05 g/kg for rice straw under flaming conditions, while they were 0.42 ± 0.28 and 0.12 ± 0.06 g/kg and 0.30 ± 0.27 and 0.05 ± 0.03 g/kg under smoldering conditions, respectively. Na+, Mg2+, and NH4+ were vital components in PM, comprising from 0.8% (smoldering) to 3.1% (flaming) of the mass. Strong correlations of Cl with K+, NH4+, and Na+ ions were observed in rice straw and the calculated diagnostic ratios of OC/EC, K+/Na+ and Cl/Na+ could be useful to distinguishing crop straw burning from other sources of atmospheric pollution.  相似文献

We discuss calculations of synthetic spectra for the interpretation and analysis of K-shell and bound-free emission from argon-doped deuterium-filled OMEGA direct-drive implosion cores. The spectra are computed using a model that considers collisional-radiative atomic kinetics, continuum-lowering, detailed Stark-broadened line shapes, line overlapping, and radiation transport effects. The photon energy range covers the moderately optically thick n = 3  n = 1 and n = 4  n = 1 line transitions in He- and H-like Ar, their associated satellite lines in Li- and He-like Ar, and several radiative recombination edges. At the high-densities characteristic of implosion cores, the radiative recombination edges substantially shift to lower energies thus overlapping with several line transitions. We discuss the application of the spectra to spectroscopic analysis of doped implosion cores.  相似文献

Mass concentration and isotopic values δ13C and 14C are presented for the water-insoluble refractory carbon (WIRC) component of total suspended particulates (TSP), collected weekly during 2003, as well as from October 2005 to May 2006 at the WMO-GAW Mt. Waliguan (WLG) site. The overall average WIRC mass concentration was (1183 ± 120) ng/m3 (n = 79), while seasonal averages were 2081 ± 1707 (spring), 454 ± 205 (summer), 650 ± 411 (autumn), and 1019 ± 703 (winter) ng/m3. Seasonal variations in WIRC mass concentrations were consistent with black carbon measurements from an aethalometer, although WIRC concentrations were typically higher, especially in winter and spring. The δ13C PDB value (−25.3 ± 0.8)‰ determined for WIRC suggests that its sources are C3 biomass or fossil fuel combustion. No seasonal change in δ13C PDB was evident. The average percent Modern Carbon (pMC) for 14C in WIRC for winter and spring was (67.2 ± 7.7)% (n = 29). Lower pMC values were associated with air masses transported from the area east of WLG, while higher pMC values were associated with air masses from the Tibetan Plateau, southwest of WLG. Elevated pMC values with abnormally high mass concentrations of TSP and WIRC were measured during a dust storm event.  相似文献

Year-round measurements of the mass concentration and optical properties of fine aerosols (PM2.5) from June 2009 to May 2010 at an urban site in Beijing were analyzed. The annual mean values of the PM2.5 mass concentration, absorption coefficient (Ab), scattering coefficient (Sc) and single scattering albedo (SSA) at 525 nm were 67 ± 66 μg/m3, 64 ± 62 Mm−1, 360 ± 405 Mm−1 and 0.82 ± 0.09, respectively. The bulk mass absorption efficiency and scattering efficiency of the PM2.5 at 525 nm were 0.78 m2/g and 5.55 m2/g, respectively. The Ab and Sc showed a similar diurnal variation with a maximum at night and a minimum in the afternoon, whereas SSA displayed an opposite diurnal pattern. Significant increases in the Ab and Sc were observed in pollution episodes caused by the accumulation of pollutants from both local and regional sources under unfavorable weather conditions. Aerosol loadings in dust events increased by several times in the spring, which had limited effects on the Ab and Sc due to the low absorption and scattering efficiency of dust particles. The frequency of haze days was the highest in autumn because of the high aerosol absorption and scattering under unfavorable weather conditions. The daily PM2.5 concentration should be controlled to a level lower than 64 μg/m3 to prevent the occurrence of haze days according to its exponentially decreased relationship with visibility.  相似文献

Pressure drops in the flow through micro-orifices and capillaries were measured for silicone oils, aqueous solutions of polyethylene glycol (PEG), and surfactant aqueous solutions. The diameter of micro-orifices ranged from 5 μm to 400 μm. The corresponding length/diameter ratio was from 4 to 0.05 and capillary diameters were 105 μm and 450 μm. The following results were obtained: silicone oils of 10?6 m2/s and 10?5 m2/s in kinematic viscosity generated a reduction of pressure drop (RPD), that is, drag reduction, similar to the RPD of water and a glycerol/water mixture reported in the previous paper by the present authors. When RPD occurred, the pressure drop (PD) of silicone oils of 10?6 m2/s and 10?5 m2/s had nearly the same magnitude. Namely, the difference in viscosity did not influence RPD. A 103 ppm aqueous solution of PEG20000 provided almost the same PD as that of PEG8000 for the 400 μm to 15 μm orifices, but a greater PD than that of PEG8000 for the 10 μm to 5 μm orifices. A non-ionic surfactant and a cationic surfactant were highly effective in RPD compared with anionic surfactants: the non-ionic and cationic surfactant solutions had PD one order of magnitude lower than that of water under some flow conditions in the concentration range from 1 ppm to 104 ppm, but the anionic surfactant solutions did not generate RPD except in the case of the smallest orifice of 5 μm in diameter. The PD of the non-ionic surfactant solution showed a steep rise at a Reynolds number (Ret) for 400 μm to 15 μm orifices. The Ret provides the relationship Ret = K/D, where D is the orifice diameter, and K is a constant of 2 × 10?2 m for the 100–20 μm orifices irrespective of liquid concentration. Capillary flow experiment revealed that the PEG, non-ionic and cationic surfactant solutions generated RPD also in a laminar flow through the capillary of 105 μm in diameter, but not in the flow through the capillary of 450 μm in diameter. In order to clarify the cause of RPD, an additional experiment was carried out by changing the orifice material from metal to acrylic resin. The result gave a different appearance of RPD, suggesting that RPD is related to an interfacial phenomenon between the liquid and wall. The large RPDs found in the present experiment are very interesting from both academic and practical viewpoints.  相似文献

Hybrid large-eddy type simulations for chevron nozzle jet flows are performed at Mach 0.9 and Re = 1.03 × 106. Without using any subgrid scale model (SGS), the numerical approach applied in the present study is essentially implicit large-eddy simulation (ILES). However, a Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes (RANS) solution is patched into the near wall region. This makes the overall solution strategy hybrid RANS–ILES. The disparate turbulence length scales, implied by these different modeling approaches, are matched using a Hamilton–Jacobi equation. The complex geometry features of the chevron nozzles are fully meshed. With numerical fidelity in mind, high quality, hexahedral multi-block meshes of 12.5 × 106 cells are used. Despite the modest meshes, the novel RANS–ILES approach shows encouraging performance. Computed mean and second-order fluctuating quantities of the turbulent near field compare favorably with measurements. The radiated far-field sound is predicted using the Ffowcs Williams and Hawkings (FW–H) surface integral method. Encouraging agreement of the predicted far-field sound directivity and spectra with measurements is obtained.  相似文献

The transmission of plasma-based soft X-ray lasers through thin targets can be used to measure the target opacity. Measurements of warm dense matter transmission obtained using a focused 59 eV photon energy laser irradiation on thin targets of polyimide (C22H10N2O5) and aluminum are shown to produce simultaneous heating and probing enabling opacity and temperature measurements of warm dense matter. It is shown that the opacity of the warm dense matter considered in the experiments follows closely tabulated cold ‘room temperature’ opacities at temperatures below ~10 eV. Transmission measurements of thin iron targets which are highly opaque to the X-ray laser radiation are also presented.  相似文献

This paper deals with thermal radiation characteristics of ash deposits on a pulverized coal combustion boiler of an electric power plant. Normal emittance spectra in the near to medium infrared (2.5–25 μm) region and total normal emittances were measured on four kinds of ground ash deposits. Measurements were conducted in the 570–1460 K temperature range which is common for boiler furnaces, by both heating and cooling the ash samples, with the aim to study the effect of their thermal history. Dependence of emittance on wavelength, temperature and chemical composition was studied, too. Samples were tested for transparency (opacity) to verify the accuracy of results. It was determined that the thicknesses used for the ash powders are opaque for infrared radiation for thicknesses in the order of a millimeter. Tests have shown that spectral emittance increases with an increase of wavelength with a characteristic pattern common for all samples. Spectral normal emittance increases strongly with temperature at shorter wavelengths and remains high and unchanged at longer ones. Emittance spectra are not very sensitive to chemical composition of ashes especially beyond λ  5 μm. With an increase of temperature, total emittance of the powdered sample decreases to a minimum value around 1200 K. Further temperature rise induces an increase of total emittance due to sintering in the ash. On cooling, the emittance increases monotonically following the hysteresis. Quantitative directions for evaluating thermal radiation characteristics of ash deposits for the merits of the safety design of boiler furnaces were proposed. That comprises correlating the experimentally obtained emittance spectra with curves of simple analytical form, i.e., a continuous function of minimum emittance vs. wavelength. The proposed method can be extended to other specimens from the same furnace and used to determine correlations for thermal calculation of old and design of new furnaces – with similar geometry and combusting similar coal. The method is potentially applicable to completely different boiler furnaces combusting different coal, and the authors recommend running the tests with new deposit samples. The data will then be applicable to the thermal design of a whole new class of furnaces, having similar geometry and combusting similar coal. This is expected to greatly enhance the accuracy and precision of thermal calculation as well as the efficiency of thermal design of steam boilers.  相似文献

The possible events during bubble formation on an orifice were investigated using a rectangular bubble column (30 cm × 30 cm × 100 cm). The gas flow rate through a single orifice was adjusted from 0.1 dm3/min to 5.0 dm3/min covering a high flow rate regime. At the high gas flow rate, the bubble formation process was complicated by diverse events, such as wake effect, channeling, and orifice-induced turbulent flow. The detachment period could be used to discern the bubble formation steps because it was strongly affected by the above events. The bubble size distribution around the orifice was also analyzed to gain a clearer understanding of the bubble formation process. Above the rate of 3.0 dm3/min through a single orifice, the detachment period converged to a value of 25 ms irrespective of the orifice diameter. The bubble size distribution also showed little difference in this range of gas flow rate. This could be explained by the development of turbulent flow around the orifice. A 0.15 m in-diameter bubble column was tested to investigate the effect of orifice-induced turbulent flow on the regime transition in which the homogeneous flow regime is converted into the heterogeneous flow regime in the column. Obvious distinction between the orifice- and column-induced transitions was observed.  相似文献

The propagation of energetic electrons from the focal spots of intense picosecond laser pulses was studied using targets consisting of planar foils and fine metal wires. High-resolution K-shell spectra of elements with atomic numbers in the range 46–74 (Pd to W) and with energies from 21 keV to 69 keV were recorded by a Cauchois-type spectrometer using a curved transmission crystal. The K-shell spectra resulted from the collisional ionization of 1 s electrons by energetic electrons that were generated in the laser focal spot and propagated into the planar foil region beyond the focal spot or into the metal wires adjacent to an irradiated wire. The lateral spread of the energetic electrons from the focal spot was determined from the source broadening of the K spectral lines and from the relative intensities of the K spectra from an irradiated wire and neighboring wires of different metals. The propagation distances up to 1 mm in a variety of materials indicated electron energies up to 1 MeV were generated in the laser focal spot. Inhibited propagation in an electrically insulating material was observed that results from a weak return current and incomplete space charge neutralization.  相似文献

This research focuses on acquiring accurate flow boiling heat transfer data and flow pattern visualization for three refrigerants, R134a, R236fa and R245fa in a 1.030 mm channel. We investigate trends in the data, and their possible mechanisms, for mass fluxes from 200 to 1600 kg/m2s, heat fluxes from 2.3 kW/m2 to 250 kW/m2 at Tsat = 31 °C and ΔTsub from 2 to 9 K. The local saturated flow boiling heat transfer coefficients display a heat flux and a mass flux dependency but no residual subcooling influence. The changes in heat transfer trends correspond well with flow regime transitions. These were segregated into the isolated bubble (IB) regime, the coalescing bubble (CB) regime, and the annular (A) regime for the three fluids. The importance of nucleate boiling and forced convection in these small channels is still relatively unclear and requires further research.  相似文献

Indoor airborne bioaerosols of outdoor origin play an important role in determining the exposure of humans to bioaerosols because people spend most of their time indoors. However, there are few studies focusing on indoor bioaerosols originating from outdoors. In this study, indoor versus outdoor size-resolved concentrations and particle asymmetry factors of airborne fluorescent bioaerosols in an office room were measured continuously for 6 days (144 h) using a fluorescent bioaerosol detector. The windows and door of this room were closed to ensure that there was only air infiltration; moreover, any human activities were ceased during sampling to inhibit effects of indoor sources. We focused on fine particles, since few coarse particles enter indoor environments, when windows and doors are closed. Both indoor and outdoor fluorescent bioaerosol size distributions were fit with two-mode lognormal distributions (indoor R2 = 0.935, outdoor R2 = 0.938). Asymmetry factor distributions were also fit with lognormal distributions (indoor R2 = 0.992, outdoor R2 = 0.992). Correlations between indoor and outdoor fluorescent bioaerosol concentrations show significant concentration-attenuation and a time lag during the study period. A two-parameter, semi-empirical model was used to predict concentrations of indoor fluorescent bioaerosols of outdoor origin. The measured and predicted concentrations had a linear relationship for the studied size fractions, with an R2 for all size fractions of larger than 0.83.  相似文献

Stress-induced surface instability and evolution of epitaxial thin films leads to formation of a variety of self-assembled surface patterns with feature sizes at micro- and nanoscales. The anisotropy in both the surface and bulk properties of the film and substrate has profound effects on the nonlinear dynamics of surface evolution and pattern formation. Experimentally it has been demonstrated that the effect of anisotropy strongly depends on the crystal orientation of the substrate surface on which the film grows epitaxially. In this paper we develop a nonlinear model for surface evolution of epitaxial thin films on generally anisotropic crystal substrates. Specifically, the effect of bulk elastic anisotropy of the substrate on epitaxial surface pattern evolution is investigated for cubic germanium (Ge) and SiGe films on silicon (Si) substrates with four different surface orientations: Si(0 0 1), Si(1 1 1), Si(1 1 0), and Si(1 1 3). Both linear analysis and nonlinear numerical simulations suggest that, with surface anisotropy neglected, ordered surface patterns form under the influence of the elastic anisotropy, and these surface patterns clearly reflect the symmetry of the underlying crystal structures of the substrate. It is concluded that consideration of anisotropic elasticity reveals a much richer dynamics of surface pattern evolution as compared to isotropic models.  相似文献

Oil–water two-phase flow experiments were conducted in horizontal ducts made of Plexiglas® to determine the in situ oil fraction (holdup) by means of the closing valves technique, using mineral oil (viscosity: 0.838 Pa s at 20 °C; density: 890 kg m−3) and tap water. The ducts present sudden contractions from 50 mm to 40 mm i.d. and from 50 mm to 30 mm i.d., with contraction ratios of 0.64 and 0.36, respectively. About 200–320 tests were performed by varying the flow rates of the phases. Flow patterns were investigated for both the up- and downstream pipe in order to assess whether relevant variations of the flow patterns across the sudden contraction take place. Data were then compared with predictions of a specific correlation for oil–water flow and some correlations for gas–water flow. A drift-flux model was also applied to determine the distribution parameter.  相似文献
