Let Ω ? ? n , n?≥?2, be an unbounded domain with a smooth (possibly noncompact) star-shaped boundary Γ. For the first mixed problem for a hyperbolic equation with an unbounded coefficient with power growth at infinity, the large-time behavior of the solutions is studied. Estimates for the resolvent of the spectral problem are obtained for various values of the parameters.  相似文献

Under consideration is the stationary system of equations of electrodynamics relating to a nonmagnetic nonconducting medium. We study the problem of recovering the permittivity coefficient ε from given vectors of electric or magnetic intensities of the electromagnetic field. It is assumed that the field is generated by a point impulsive dipole located at some point y. It is also assumed that the permittivity differs from a given constant ε0 only inside some compact domain Ω ? R3 with smooth boundary S. To recover ε inside Ω, we use the information on a solution to the corresponding direct problem for the system of equations of electrodynamics on the whole boundary of Ω for all frequencies from some fixed frequency ω 0 on and for all yS. The asymptotics of a solution to the direct problem for large frequencies is studied and it is demonstrated that this information allows us to reduce the initial problem to the well-known inverse kinematic problem of recovering the refraction index inside Ω with given travel times of electromagnetic waves between two arbitrary points on the boundary of Ω. This allows us to state uniqueness theorem for solutions to the problem in question and opens up a way of its constructive solution.  相似文献

A mixed boundary value problem for a singularly perturbed elliptic convection-diffusion equation with constant coefficients in a square domain is considered. Dirichlet conditions are specified on two sides orthogonal to the flow, and Neumann conditions are set on the other two sides. The right-hand side and the boundary functions are assumed to be sufficiently smooth, which ensures the required smoothness of the desired solution in the domain, except for neighborhoods of the corner points. Only zero-order compatibility conditions are assumed to hold at the corner points. The problem is solved numerically by applying an inhomogeneous monotone difference scheme on a rectangular piecewise uniform Shishkin mesh. The inhomogeneity of the scheme lies in that the approximating difference equations are not identical at different grid nodes but depend on the perturbation parameter. Under the assumptions made, the numerical solution is proved to converge ?-uniformly to the exact solution in a discrete uniform metric at an O(N ?3/2ln2 N) rate, where N is the number of grid nodes in each coordinate direction.  相似文献

We consider the Dirichlet boundary value problem for a singular elliptic PDE like F[u] = p(x)u ??? , where p, ?? ?? 0, in a bounded smooth domain of ${\mathbb{R}^n}$ . The nondivergence form operator F is assumed to be of Hamilton?CJacobi?CBellman or Isaacs type. We establish existence and regularity results for such equations.  相似文献

The stationary system of Maxwell equations for a unmagnetized nonconducting medium is considered. For this system, the problem of determining the permittivity ε from given electric or magnetic fields is studied. It is assumed that the electromagnetic field is induced by a plane wave coming from infinity in the direction ν. It is also assumed that the permittivity is different from a given positive constant ε0 only inside a compact domain Ω ? R 3 with a smooth boundary S. To find ε inside Ω, the solution of the corresponding direct problem for the system of electrodynamic equations on the shadow portion of the boundary of Ω is specified for all frequencies starting at some fixed ω0 and for all ν. The high-frequency asymptotics of the solution to the direct problem is studied. It is shown that the information specified makes it possible to reduce the original problem to the well-known inverse kinematic problem of determining the refraction coefficient inside Ω from the traveling times of an electromagnetic wave. This leads to a uniqueness theorem for the solution of the problem under consideration and opens up the opportunity of its constructive solution.  相似文献

For a q-pseudoconvex domain Ω in ? n , 1 ≤ qn, with Lipschitz boundary, we solve the $\bar \partial $ -problem with exact support in Ω. Moreover, we solve the $\bar \partial $ -problem with solutions smooth up to the boundary over Ω provided that it has smooth boundary. Applications are given to the solvability of the tangential Cauchy-Riemann equations on the boundary.  相似文献

Let Ω be an open, simply connected, and bounded region in ? d , d?≥?2, and assume its boundary \(\partial\Omega\) is smooth. Consider solving an elliptic partial differential equation Lu?=?f over Ω with zero Dirichlet boundary values. The problem is converted to an equivalent elliptic problem over the unit ball B; and then a spectral Galerkin method is used to create a convergent sequence of multivariate polynomials u n of degree ≤?n that is convergent to u. The transformation from Ω to B requires a special analytical calculation for its implementation. With sufficiently smooth problem parameters, the method is shown to be rapidly convergent. For \(u\in C^{\infty}( \overline{\Omega})\) and assuming \(\partial\Omega\) is a C ?∞? boundary, the convergence of \(\left\Vert u-u_{n}\right\Vert _{H^{1}}\) to zero is faster than any power of 1/n. Numerical examples in ?2 and ?3 show experimentally an exponential rate of convergence.  相似文献

A control problem governed by a pseudoparabolic equation onQ = Ω × (0, T) where Ω is an open bounded set inR2 orR3 with a smooth boundary is studied. Here the controls are of the formv(x,t) = v(t) δ(x ? a), a ? Ω. It is observed that ifv ? L2(0, T), then the trace of the corresponding solutiony(., T; v) belongs toL2(Ω). Existence, uniqueness, and regularity results are given for the optimal control as well as continuity results with respect to perturbation of the pointa.  相似文献

In a bounded domain with smooth boundary in ?3 we consider the stationary Maxwell equations for a function u with values in ?3 subject to a nonhomogeneous condition (u, v)x = u0 on the boundary, where v is a given vector field and u0 a function on the boundary. We specify this problem within the framework of the Riemann-Hilbert boundary value problems for the Moisil-Teodorescu system. This latter is proved to satisfy the Shapiro-Lopaniskij condition if an only if the vector v is at no point tangent to the boundary. The Riemann-Hilbert problem for the Moisil-Teodorescu system fails to possess an adjoint boundary value problem with respect to the Green formula, which satisfies the Shapiro-Lopatinskij condition. We develop the construction of Green formula to get a proper concept of adjoint boundary value problem.  相似文献

Let a physical body Ω in ?2 or ?3 be given. Assume that the electric conductivity distribution inside Ω consists of conductive inclusions in a known smooth background. Further, assume that a subset Γ ? ?Ω is available for boundary measurements. It is proved using hyperbolic geometry that certain information about the location of the inclusions can be exactly recovered from static electric measurements on Γ. More precisely: given a ball B with center outside the convex hull of Ω and satisfying (B? ∩ ?Ω) ? Γ, boundary measurements on Γ with explicitly given Dirichlet data are enough to determine whether B intersects the inclusion. An approximate detection algorithm is introduced based on the theory. Numerical experiments in dimension two with simulated noisy data suggest that the algorithm finds the inclusion‐free domain near Γ and is robust against measurement noise. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

We construct blow-up patterns for the quasilinear heat equation (QHE) $$u_t = \nabla \cdot (k(u)\nabla u) + Q(u)$$ in Ω×(0,T), Ω being a bounded open convex set in ? N with smooth boundary, with zero Dirichet boundary condition and nonnegative initial data. The nonlinear coefficients of the equation are assumed to be smooth and positive functions and moreoverk(u) andQ(u)/u p with a fixedp>1 are of slow variation asu→∞, so that (QHE) can be treated as a quasilinear perturbation of the well-known semilinear heat equation (SHE) $$u_t = \nabla u) + u^p .$$ We prove that the blow-up patterns for the (QHE) and the (SHE) coincide in a structural sense under the extra assumption $$\smallint ^\infty k(f(e^s ))ds = \infty ,$$ wheref(v) is a monotone solution of the ODEf′(v)=Q(f(v))/v p defined for allv?1. If the integral is finite then the (QHE) is shown to admit an infinite number of different blow-up patterns.  相似文献

We prove that homologically nontrivial generic smooth (2n−1)-parameter families of analytic discs in Cn, n?2, attached by their boundaries to a CR-manifold Ω, test CR-functions in the following sense: if a smooth function on Ω analytically extends into any analytic discs from the family, then the function satisfies tangential CR-equations on Ω. In particular, we give an answer (Theorem 1) to the following long standing open question, so called strip-problem, earlier solved only for special families (mainly for circles): given a smooth one-parameter family of Jordan curves in the plane and a function f admitting holomorphic extension inside each curve, must f be holomorphic on the union of the curves? We prove, for real-analytic functions and arbitrary generic real-analytic families of curves, that the answer is “yes,” if no point is surrounded by all curves from the family. The latter condition is essential. We generalize this result to characterization of complex curves in C2 as real 2-manifolds admitting nontrivial families of attached analytic discs (Theorem 4). The main result implies fairly general Morera type characterization of CR-functions on hypersurfaces in C2 in terms of holomorphic extensions into three-parameter families of attached analytic discs (Theorem 2). One of the applications is confirming, in real-analytic category, the Globevnik-Stout conjecture (Theorem 3) on boundary values of holomorphic functions. It is proved that a smooth function on the boundary of a smooth strictly convex domain in Cn extends holomorphically inside the domain if it extends holomorphically into complex lines tangent to a given strictly convex subdomain. The proofs are based on a universal approach, namely, on the reduction to a problem of propagation, from the boundary to the interior, of degeneracy of CR-foliations of solid torus type manifolds (Theorem 2.2).  相似文献

The Fu?ík spectrum for systems of second order ordinary differential equations with Dirichlet or Neumann boundary values is considered: it is proved that the Fu?ík spectrum consists of global C1 surfaces, and that through each eigenvalue of the linear system pass exactly two of these surfaces. Further qualitative, asymptotic and symmetry properties of these spectral surfaces are given. Finally, related problems with nonlinearities which cross asymptotically some eigenvalues, as well as linear-superlinear systems are studied.  相似文献

We study the well-posedness of the Cauchy problem with Dirichlet or Neumann boundary conditions associated to an H1-critical semilinear wave equation on a smooth bounded domain ΩR2. First, we prove an appropriate Strichartz type estimate using the Lq spectral projector estimates of the Laplace operator. Our proof follows Burq, Lebeau and Planchon (2008) [4]. Then, we show the global well-posedness when the energy is below or at the threshold given by the sharp Moser-Trudinger inequality. Finally, in the supercritical case, we prove an instability result using the finite speed of propagation and a quantitative study of the associated ODE with oscillatory data.  相似文献

In this paper we consider the estimation of the electrical conductivity a in the partial differential equation div(a grad ? = 0 with the boundary condition ? = \(\tilde g\) from overdetermined boundary data \(a{{\partial \tilde u}\over \partial n}=\tilde h\) via Tikhonov regularization. We formulate this problem in an appropriate Hilbert space setting and prove stability and convergence of the Tikhonov regularized solutions in an appropriate set-valued sense. Conditions are given that guarantee convergence rates of Hölder type if the electrical conductivity is assumed to be smooth. Finally we consider the special important case that the parameter a is piecewise constant and may only attain a finite number of known values. This case is of special interest in applications (e.g. non-destructive testing).  相似文献

We consider singular differential operators of order 2m, m ∈ ?, with discrete spectrum in L 2[0, + ∞). For self-adjoint extensions given by the boundary conditions y(0) = y″(0) = ? = y (2m?2)(0) = 0 or y′(0) = y?(0) = ? = y (2m?1)(0) = 0, we obtain regularized traces. We present the explicit form of the spectral function, which can be used for calculating regularized traces.  相似文献

Consider the heat equation ?ru ? Δxu = 0 in a cylinder Ω × [0,T] ? Rn+1 smooth lateral boundary under zero Neumann or Dirichlet conditions. Geometric conditions for Ω are given that guarantee that for a given P, 6▽xu(·, t)6Lp will be non-increasing for any solution. Decay rates are also given. For arbitrary Ω and p, it is shown how to construct an equivalent Lp-norm, such that ▽x(·, t) is non-increasing in this norm.  相似文献

Let M3 be a non-compact hyperbolic 3-manifold that has a triangulation by positively oriented ideal tetrahedra. We show that the gluing variety defined by the gluing consistency equations is a smooth complex manifold with dimension equal to the number of boundary components of M3. Moreover, we show that the complex lengths of any collection of non-trivial boundary curves, one from each boundary component, give a local holomorphic parameterization of the gluing variety. As an application, some estimates for the size of hyperbolic Dehn surgery space of once-punctured torus bundles are given.  相似文献

We consider the boundary value problem Δu+up=0 in a bounded, smooth domain Ω in R2 with homogeneous Dirichlet boundary condition and p a large exponent. We find topological conditions on Ω which ensure the existence of a positive solution up concentrating at exactly m points as p→∞. In particular, for a nonsimply connected domain such a solution exists for any given m?1.  相似文献

We consider a (generally, noncoercive) mixed boundary value problem in a bounded domain D of Rn for a second order elliptic differential operator A(x, ?). The differential operator is assumed to be of divergent form in D and the boundary operator B(x, ?) is of Robin type on ?D. The boundary of D is assumed to be a Lipschitz surface. Besides, we distinguish a closed subset Y ? ?D and control the growth of solutions near Y. We prove that the pair (A, B) induces a Fredholm operator L in suitable weighted spaces of Sobolev type, the weight function being a power of the distance to the singular set Y. Moreover, we prove the completeness of root functions related to L.  相似文献
