This paper presents necessary and sufficient conditions under which isomorphism of endomorphism rings of additive groups of arbitrary associative rings with 1 implies isomorphism of these rings. For a certain class of Abelian groups, we present a criterion which shows when isomorphism of their endomorphism rings implies isomorphism of these groups. We demonstrate necessary and sufficient conditions under which an arbitrary ring is the endomorphism ring of an Abelian group. This solves Problem 84 in L. Fuchs’ “Infinite Abelian Groups.”__________Translated from Fundamentalnaya i Prikladnaya Matematika, Vol. 9, No. 1, pp. 231–234, 2003. 相似文献

It is proved that if all the endomorphisms of a reduced torsion-free weakly transitive Abelian group are bounded right-nilpotent, then its ring of endomorphisms is commutative. The ring of endomorphisms of a torsion-free Abelian group with periodic group of automorphisms and Engel ring of endomorphisms is also commutative. 相似文献

Abstract A ring R is (right) strongly prime (SP) if every nonzero two sided ideal contains a finite set whose right annihilator is zero, SP rings have been studied by Handelman and Lawrence who raised the problem of characterizing SP group algebras. They showed that if R is SP and G is torsion free Abelian, then the group ring RG is SP. The aim of this note is to determine some more group rings which are SP. For a ring R we also define the strongly prime radical s(R). We then show that s(R)G = s(W) for certain classes of groups. 相似文献

A subgroup A of an Abelian group G is called its absolute ideal if A is an ideal of any ring on G. An Abelian group is called an RAI-group if there exists a ring on it in which every ideal is absolute. The problem of describing RAI-groups was formulated by L. Fuchs (Problem 93). In this paper, absolute ideals of torsion Abelian groups and torsion Abelian RAI-groups are described. 相似文献

In this article we construct free groups and subgroups of finite index in the unit group of the integral group ring of a finite non-Abelian group G for which every nonlinear irreducible complex representation is of degree 2 and with commutator subgroup G′ a central elementary Abelian 2-group. 相似文献

A property of rings generalizing commutativity is introduced. If a ring satisfies this property, then the Krull--Schmidt theorem holds for Artinian modules over the ring. In particular, this property is fulfilled for local rings of finite rank and for rings such that their centers are surjectively mapped by the natural projection onto the factor with respect to the radical of the ring. A local ring for which the property fails is constructed; for the direct decompositions of Artinian modules over this ring there appear anomalies similar to the anomalies of direct decompositions of torsion-free Abelian groups of finite rank. A classical result of Magnus asserts that a free group F has a faithful representation in the group of units of a ring of non-commuting formal power series with integral coefficients. We generalize this result to the category of A-groups, where A is an associative ring or an Abelian group. We say that a free A-group FA has a faithful Magnus representation if there is a ring B containing A as an additive subgroup (or a subring) such that FA is faithfully represented (exactly as in Magnus' classical result in the case A = Z)in the group of units of the ring of formal power series in non-communting indeterminater over B.The three principal results are: (I) If A is a torsion free Abelian group and FA is a free A-groupp of Lyndon' type, then FA has a faithful Magnus representation; (II) If A is an ω‐residually Z ring, then FA has a faithful Magnus representation;(III) for every nontrivial torsion-free Abelian group A, FA has a faithful Magnus representation in B[[Y]] for a suitable ring B in and only if FQ has a faithful Magnus representation in Q[[Y]]. 相似文献

A ring is said to be normal if all of its idempotents are central. It is proved that a mixed group A with a normal endomorphism ring contains a pure fully invariant subgroup G ⊕ B, the endomorphism ring of a group G is commutative, and a subgroup B is not always distinguished by a direct summand in A. We describe separable, coperiodic, and other groups with normal endomorphism rings. Also we consider Abelian groups in which
the square of the Lie bracket of any two endomorphisms is the zero endomorphism. It is proved that every central invariant
subgroup of a group is fully invariant iff the endomorphism ring of the group is commutative. 相似文献

In the paper, necessary and sufficient conditions for an Abelian group A to be isomorphic to the endomorphism group End(A) are obtained. The classes of periodic Abelian groups, divisible Abelian groups, nonreduced Abelian groups, and reduced algebraically compact Abelian groups are considered. For certain classes of Abelian groups, the isomorphism problem for a group and its endomorphism group is solved under the assumption that the endomorphism group itself has the corresponding property. 相似文献

A ring K is a unique addition ring (a UA-ring) if its multiplicative semigroup (K, · ) can be equipped with a unique binary operation + transforming this semigroup to a ring (K, ·, +). An Abelian group is called an End-UA-group if its endomorphism ring is a UA-ring. In the paper, we find End-UA-groups in the class of nonreduced Abelian groups. 相似文献

Polynomial functions on Abelian groups play a basic role in the theory of functional equations and spectral analysis. In this paper we investigate the ring-structure of polynomial functions on topological Abelian groups. We show that polynomial functions form a Noetherian ring if and only if the linear space of continuous homomorphisms of the group into the additive group of complex numbers is finite dimensional. In the case of discrete Abelian groups this is equivalent to the presence of spectral synthesis. 相似文献

Prime Goldie rings graded by a group are studied. It is proved that there exists a completely gr-reducible graded ring of fractions in the case of a grading group with a finite commutator subgroup (which enhances the results of Goodearl–Stafford obtained for Abelian groups). An example where such ring does not exist is constructed (a counterexample for a semi-prime ring was already known). 相似文献

The mapping of factorization by the radical is computed for the semigroup of projective, finitely generated modules over the endomorphism ring of an almost completely decomposable torsion-free Abelian group of finite rank that is divisible by almost all prime numbers. Also, an answer is given to the question concerning the collections of groups of rank 1 for which one can construct an almost completely decomposable group, indecomposable as an object in
, by adding a generator. Bibliography: 4 titles. 相似文献

An Abelian group or module is said to have the involution property if every endomorphism is the sum of two automorphisms, one of which is an involution. We investigate this property for completely decomposable torsion-free Abelian groups and modules over the ring of p-adic integers. 相似文献

The problem is studied of the connection between an Abelian p-group G of arbitrary cardinality and its group ring LG, where L is a ring with unity nonzero characteristic n0 (mod p), with p being a prime. In particular, it is shown that group ring LG defines to within isomorphism the basis subgroup of group G. If reduced Abelian p-group G has finite type and if its Ulm factors decompose into direct products of cyclic groups, then group ring LG determines group G to within isomorphism.Translated from Matematicheskie Zametki, Vol. 6, No. 4, pp. 381–392, October, 1969. 相似文献
