Solution properties of the nonlinear second-order delay-differential equation x(t)=–ax(t)+f[x(t–)] are studied wheref is a piecewise constant function which mimics negative feedback. We show that the solutions can be obtained by a simple geometrical construction which, in principle, can be implemented using a ruler and a compass. Analytical results guarantee the existence and stability properties of limit cycle solutions. Computer-aided constructions reveal a remarkable richness of different types of dynamical behaviors including a variety of unconventional bifurcation schemes. 相似文献

The paper deals with the criteria for the closed- loop stability of a noise control system in a duct. To study the stability of the system, the model of delay differential equation is derived from the propagation of acoustic wave governed by a partial differential equation of hyperbolic type. Then, a simple feedback controller is designed, and its closed- loop stability is analyzed on the basis of the derived model of delay differential equation. The obtained criteria reveal the influence of the controller gain and the positions of a sensor and an actuator on the closed-loop stability. Finally, numerical simulations are presented to support the theoretical results. 相似文献

In this paper, we compare two approaches for determining the amplitude equations; namely, the integral equation method and the method of multiple scales. To describe and compare the methods, we consider three examples: the parametric resonance of a Van der Pol oscillator under state feedback control with a time delay, the primary resonance of a harmonically forced Duffing oscillator under state feedback control with a time delay, and the primary resonance together with 1:1 internal resonance of a two degree-of-freedom model. Using the integral equation method and the method of multiple scales, the amplitude equations are obtained. The stability of the periodic solution is examined by using the Floquet theorem together with the Routh–Hurwitz criterion (without time delay) and the Nyquist criterion (with time delay). By comparison with the solution obtained by the numerical integration, we find that the accuracy of the integral equation method is much better. 相似文献

A new active control method is presented to attenuate vibrations of a flexible beam with nonlinear hysteresis and time delay. The nonlinear and hysteretic behavior of the system is illustrated by the Bouc—Wen model. By specific transformation and augmentation of state parameters, we can convert the motion equation of the system with explicit time delay to the standard state space representation without any explicit time delay. Then the instantaneous optimal control method and Runge—Kutta method in fourth-order are applied to the controller design with time delay. Finally, in order to verify the effectivity of the time-delay controller proposed, numerical simulations are implemented. It is indicated by the simulation results that the control performance will deteriorate if neglect the time delay in process of the controller design and proposed time delay controller works well with both small and large time delay problems. 相似文献

The present paper presents an extension of Melnikov's theory for the differential equation with complex function. The sufficient condition for the existence of a homoclinic orbit in the solutions of a perturbed equation is given. The method shown in the paper is used to derive a precursor criterion for chaos. Suitable conditions are defined for the parameters of equations for which the equation possesses a strange attractor set. The dynamics of the cross-coupled laser model with delay has been investigated. The investigation confirms that a Hopf bifurcation occurs due to the existence of stability switches when the product of the coupling strengths varies. An algorithm for determining the stability and direction of the Hopf bifurcation is derived by applying the normal form theory and the center manifold theorem.
