We study the effects of heavy Higgs bosons on the production process at photon linear colliders. The interference patterns between the resonant Higgs production amplitudes and the continuum QED amplitudes are examined. The patterns tell us not only the CP nature of the Higgs bosons but also the phase of the -Higgs vertex which gives new information about the Higgs couplings to new charged particles. We point out that it is necessary to use circularly polarized photon beams to produce efficiently heavy Higgs bosons whose masses exceed the electron beam energy, and show that the above interference patterns of the production amplitudes can be studied by observing t and decay angular distributions. Analytic expressions for the helicity amplitudes for the sequential process are presented in terms of the generic production amplitudes.Received: 2 June 2003, Published online: 24 October 2003  相似文献

production in interactions has been detected via its decays into ,K + K - K + K - and in the data taken with the DELPHI detector at LEP1 and LEP2 energies. The two-photon radiative width averaged over all observed decay channels is = 13.9 2.0 (stat.) 1.4(syst.) 2.7 (BR) keV. No direct decay channel has been observed. An upper limit < 5.5 keV at 95% confidence level has been evaluated for this decay mode.Received: 3 July 2003, Published online: 7 November 2003  相似文献

We explore CP violation in decay processes in the presence of the anomalous right-handed and couplings. The complex anomalous top coupling can be a source of new CP violation and may lead to a deviation of the observed weak phase in decays, which accounts for the present disagreement of the observed between and decays. Direct CP violation is also predicted. Received: 27 November 2002, Revised: 28 March 2003, Published online: 2 June 2003  相似文献

In the CP-violating minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM), for certain values of the CP-violating phases associated to the universal trilinear couplings (At, Ab) and the gluino mass , e.g., or , for GeV and -5, the lightest Higgs boson mass ( ) is GeV. This mass interval is still allowed by results of standard LEP Higgs searches because of a strongly suppressed H1ZZ coupling. However, in the same region of parameter space in which these two conditions occur, the coupling is enhanced because the two mentioned sets of couplings satisfy a sum rule. In this paper we probe such a light Higgs scenario at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) by studying associate production, leading to a signal. We show that the latter is readily accessible at the CERN hadron collider, upon the application of suitable selection cuts against the standard model (SM) backgrounds. Our parton level Monte Carlo (MC) analysis yields -45 signal events, completely free of SM background, for - 30 fb-1 of accumulated luminosity, after taking into account the overall efficiency for tagging four b-jets.Received: 21 February 2005, Published online: 6 July 2005  相似文献

We analyze a pion form factor formulation which fulfills the Analyticity requirement within the Hidden Local Symmetry (HLS) Model. This implies an s-dependent dressing of the VMD coupling and an account of several coupled channels. The corresponding function provides nice fits of the pion form factor data from s=-0.25 to s=1 GeV2. It is shown that the coupling to has little effect, while improves significantly the fit probability below the mass. No need for additional states like shows up in this invariant-mass range. All parameters, except for the subtraction polynomial coefficients, are fixed from the rest of the HLS phenomenology. The fits show consistency with the expected behaviour of at s=0 up to and with the phase shift data on from threshold to somewhat above the mass. The sector is also examined in relation with recent data from CMD-2. Received: 13 January 2003, Revised: 12 March 2003, Published online: 2 June 2003  相似文献

Measurements of on-shell ZZ production are described, using data from the DELPHI experiment at LEP in e + e - collisions at centre-of-mass energies between 183 and 209 GeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of about 665 pb-1. Results obtained in each of the final states , , , , , l + l - l + l -, and (with ) are presented. The measured production cross-sections are consistent with the Standard Model expectations. These results update and supersede those already published at 183 and 189 GeV.Received: 3 March 2002, Revised: 28 May 2003, Published online: 19 September 2003  相似文献

The basic parameters of supersymmetric theories can be determined at future e + e - linear colliders with high precision. We investigate in this report how polarisation measurements in and or decays to leptons and t quarks plus neutralinos or charginos can be used to measure (in particular for large values) and to determine the trilinear couplings , A t and A b in sfermion pair production.Received: 17 April 2003, Revised: 3 July 2003, Published online: 29 August 2003  相似文献

Central exclusive double-diffractive Higgs-boson production, , is now recognised as an important search scenario for the LHC. We consider the case when the Higgs boson decays to two W bosons, one of which may be off-mass-shell, that subsequently decay to the final state. An important background to this is from the QCD process , where the two gluons are required to be in a Jz = 0, colour-singlet state. We perform an explicit calculation and investigate the salient properties of this potentially important background process. A method is proposed to calculate the confidence level for agreement of data with the Higgs sector of the Standard Model (SM). This is done by combining information from direct and indirect Higgs Boson searches. Good agreement with the SM is found for GeV using the observables most sensitive to mH: Al and mW. In particular, quantum corrections, as predicted by the SM, are observed with a statistical significance of forty-four standard deviations. However, apparent deviations from the SM of 3.7 and 2.8 are found for the Z and right-handed Zb couplings respectively. The maximum confidence level for agreement with the SM of the entire data set considered is for GeV. The reason why confidence levels about an order of magnitude higher than this have been claimed for global fits to similar data sets is explained.Received: 8 September 2004, Revised: 22 March 2005, Published online: 18 May 2005  相似文献

Inclusive jet cross sections are measured in photoproduction at HERA using the H1 detector. The data sample of events in the kinematic range of photon virtualities and photon-proton centre-of-mass energies represents an integrated luminosity of . Jets are defined using the inclusive algorithm. Single- and multi-differential cross sections are measured as functions of jet transverse energy ET jet and pseudorapidity in the domain and . The cross sections are found to be in good agreement with next-to-leading order perturbative QCD calculations corrected for fragmentation and underlying event effects. The cross section differential in ET jet, which varies by six orders of magnitude over the measured range, is compared with similar distributions from colliders at equal and higher energies.Received: 24 February 2003, Revised: 26 May 2003, Published online: 11 July 2003  相似文献

We study the process at large , where it represents the dominant production mode of charged Higgs boson pairs in a Type II 2-Higgs doublet model, including the minimal supersymmetric standard model. The ability to select this signal would in principle enable the measurements of some triple-Higgs couplings, which in turn would help understanding the structure of the extended Higgs sector. We outline a selection procedure that should aid in disentangling the Higgs signal from the main irreducible background. This exploits a signature made up by four b-quark jets, two light-quark jets, a -lepton and missing energy. While, for and over a significant range above the top mass, a small signal emerges already at the Large Hadron Collider after 100 fb-1, ten times as much luminosity would be needed to perform accurate measurements of Higgs parameters in the above final state, rendering this channel a primary candidate to benefit from the so-called Super Large Hadron Collider option, for which a tenfold increase in instantaneous luminosity is currently being considered.Received: 3 September 2003, Published online: 22 January 2004  相似文献

The anomalous weak dipole moments of the lepton are measured in a data sample collected by ALEPH from 1990 to 1995 corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 155 pb-1. Tau leptons produced in the reaction at energies close to the mass are studied using their semileptonic decays to , , or . The real and imaginary components of both the anomalous weak magnetic dipole moment and the CP-violating anomalous weak electric dipole moment, , , and , are measured simultaneously by means of a likelihood fit built from the full differential cross section. No evidence of new physics is found. The following bounds are obtained (95% CL): , , , and .Received: 25 September 2002, Published online: 29 August 2003  相似文献

Upper limits on the cross-section of the pair-production process , assuming 100 branching fraction to hadrons, are derived from a new search for the hadrons final state, independently of the hadronic flavour of the decay products. This study, combined with previously published searches for the neutral Higgs bosons h0 and A0, is used to constrain the Type II Two Higgs Doublet Model (2HDM(II)) with no CP violation in the Higgs sector and no additional non-Standard Model particles besides the five Higgs bosons. The analysis combines LEP1 and LEP2 data collected with the OPAL detector up to the highest available centre-of-mass energies. The searches are sensitive to the and decay modes of the Higgs bosons. A benchmark scan of the 2HDM(II) parameter space is performed. Large regions of the 2HDM(II) parameter space explored are excluded at the 95% CL in the ( and planes, using both direct neutral Higgs boson searches and indirect limits derived from Standard Model high precision measurements. The region GeV and GeV is excluded at 95 % CL, independently of and for selected values of which are representative of a complete -scan.Received: 28 July 2004, Revised: 4 January 2005, Published online: 3 March 2005  相似文献

The robustness of the factorization theorem for total cross sections, for nn (the even portion of pp and scattering), and scattering, originally proved by Block and Kaidalov using an eikonal formalism, is demonstrated. Factorization theorems for the nuclear slope parameter B and , the ratio of the real to the imaginary portion of the forward scattering amplitude, are derived under very general conditions, using analyticity and the optical theorem.Received: 19 February 2003, Revised: 10 July 2003, Published online: 19 September 2003Work partially supported by Department of Energy contract DA-AC02-76-Er02289 Task D.  相似文献

We discuss the time-dependent CP asymmetry of the decay in an extension of the standard model with both a two Higgs doublet and additional fourth-generation quarks. We show that, although the standard model with a two Higgs doublet and the standard model with fourth-generation quarks alone are not likely to largely change the effective from the decay , the model with both an additional Higgs doublet and fourth-generation quarks can easily account for the possible large negative value of without conflicting with other experimental constraints. In this model, additional large CP violating effects may arise from the flavor-changing Yukawa interactions between neutral Higgs bosons and the heavy fourth-generation down type quark, which can modify the QCD penguin contributions. With the constraints obtained from processes such as and , this model can lead to an effective as large as - 0.4 in the CP asymmetry of .Received: 25 March 2004, Revised: 20 April 2004, Published online: 18 June 2004  相似文献

The prospects for observing an invisibly decaying Higgs boson in the production at LHC are discussed. An isolated lepton, reconstructed hadronic top-quark decay, two identified b-jets and a large missing transverse energy are proposed as the final state signature for event selection. Only the standard model backgrounds are taken into account. It is shown that the , , and backgrounds can individually be suppressed below the signal expectation. The dominant source of background remains the production. The key for the observability will be an experimental selection which allows further suppression to be achieved of the contributions from the events with one of the top quarks decaying into a tau lepton. Depending on the details of the final analysis, an excess of the signal events above the standard model background of about 10% to 100% can be achieved in the mass range mH= 100-200 GeV.Received: 1 July 2002, Revised: 16 May 2003, Published online: 3 July 2003E. By employing the QCD factorization approach, we calculated the next-to-leading order new physics contributions to the branching ratios, CP asymmetries, isospin and U-spin symmetry breaking of the exclusive decays ( ), induced by the charged Higgs penguins in general two-Higgs-doublet models. Within the considered parameter space, we found that (a) the new physics corrections to the observables are generally small in model I and model III-A, moderate in model II, but large in model III-B; (b) from the well measured branching ratios and upper limits, a lower bound of MH > 200 GeV in model II was obtained, while the allowed range of MH in model III-B is GeV; these bounds are comparable with those from the inclusive decay; (c) the NLO Wilson coefficient C7(mb) in model III-B is positive and disfavored by the measured value of isospin symmetry breaking , but it still cannot be excluded if we take the large errors into account; (d) the CP asymmetry in model III-B has an opposite sign to the one in the standard model (SM), which may be used as a good observable to distinguish the SM from model III-B; (e) the isospin symmetry breaking is less than in the region of preferred by the global fit result, but it can be as large as 20 to in the regions of and . The SM and model III-B predictions for are opposite in sign for small or large values of the CKM angles; (f) the U-spin symmetry breaking in the SM and the general two-Higgs-doublet models is generally small in size: .Received: 9 October 2003, Revised: 11 November 2003, Published online: 18 February 2004  相似文献

A study of Z-boson pair production in e + e- annihilation at center-of-mass energies between 190 GeV and 209 GeV is reported. Final states containing only leptons, ( and ), quark and lepton pairs, ( , ) and only hadrons ( ) are considered. In all states with at least one Z boson decaying hadronically, lifetime, lepton and event-shape tags are used to separate pairs from final states. Limits on anomalous ZZ and ZZZ couplings are derived from the measured cross sections and from event kinematics using an optimal observable method. Limits on low scale gravity with large extra dimensions are derived from the cross sections and their dependence on polar angle.Received: 14 July 2003, Published online: 18 December 2003  相似文献

Multi-ring signatures of appearance via the oscillation are formulated for a water Cherenkov detector. These signatures are appropriate for long-baseline neutrino experiments operating at relatively high neutrino energies GeV that emphasize the matter effect. The NC background is less for selected multi-ring events than for 1e-like events, and may be directly estimated from the data. Our results suggest that best sensitivity to and to the sign of can be reached with baselines over some 6000 km.Received: 14 April 2003, Revised: 19 June 2003, Published online: 26 September 2003M.A. Kubantsev: Now at Department of Physics and Astronomy, Northwestern University, Evanston, IL 60208, USA  相似文献
