Measurement of the matrix element for the decay η′ → ηπ 0 π 0 with the GAMS-4π spectrometer

The parameters of the Dalitz diagram for the decay η′ → ηπ ⁰ π ⁰ in a generalized and a linear representation were determined by using a statistical sample of 15 × 10³ events. A charge-exchange reaction at a momentum of 32 GeV/c was a source of monoenergetic η′ mesons. The experiment was performed with the aid of the GAMS-4π spectrometer.     

Searches for the decay D 0 → µ+µ− at hadron colliders

Investigations of rare charmed-meson decays are used to test the Standard Model and to perform searches for new physics beyond it. Advances made in searches for the rare decay D ⁰ → µ⁺µ^? in experiments at the HERA and Tevatron hadron colliders and at the LHC over the last few years are considered.     

Study of K ± → e ± νπ 0 decays at the KMN setup

K ^± → e ^± νπ ⁰ decays have been studied using the KMN setup at the Institute for High Energy Physics (Protvino). The experiment has been performed in the 36-GeV/c hadron beams of the IHEP accelerator. The accumulated data allow us to select ～1.08M candidates for K _e3 decays. Analyzing the Dalitz plot of these events, we estimate the linear slope of the charge form factor to be λ ₊ = [30.44 ± 0.83(stat.) ± 0.74(syst.)] × 10^?3.     

Partial widths for the decays η:(1295) →γγ and η:(1440) →γγ

We discuss γγ partial widths of pseudoscalar/isoscalar mesons η:(M) in the mass region M∼ 1000–1500 MeV. The transition amplitudes η:(1295) →γγ and η:(1440) →γγ are studied within an assumption that the decaying mesons are the members of the first radial excitation nonet 2¹ S ₀qˉq. The calculations show that partial widths being of the order of 0.1 keV are dominantly due to the nˉn meson component while the contribution of the sˉs component is small. Measurement of the relative probability of the decay φ → η′γ in the channel η′ → ηπ0π0, η → γγ

The process e ⁺ e ^? → η′γ, η′ → η π⁰π⁰, η → γγ is investigated by an SND detector in experiment on a VEPP-2M equipment with colliding electron-positron beams. The analysis of experimental data yields a value of B(? → η′γ)=(6.7 _?4.2 ^+5.0 ±1.5)×10^?5 for the decay probability. Taking into account a previous measurement of this quantity by an SND detector in the decay channel η′ → π⁺π^?η, one finally obtains B(?→η ′γ)=(6.7 _?2.4 ^+2.8 ±0.8)×10^?5.     

Investigation of the reaction π − p → η′π 0 n at the VES spectrometer

Results obtained by investigating the reaction π ^? p → η′π ⁰ n at the VES spectrometer (Institute for High Energy Physics, Protvino) are presented. The effective-mass spectrum and angular distributions of η′π ⁰ events are compared with their counterparts for ηπ ⁰ and η′π ^? events selected from the same data sample. The ratio R of the branching fractions for the decays of a ₂ ⁰ (1320) mesons into η′π and ηπ is measured. The result is R=0.047±0.018, which agrees with the value measured previously for a ₂ ^? . An investigation of P-wave production in the η′π ⁰ and ηπ ⁰ systems over the effective-mass interval 1.45–1.9 GeV/c2 leads to the conclusion that the coupling of the exotic object π ₁ (1600) to the ρπ channel is suppressed in relation to its coupling to the η′π or the b ₁(1235)π channel.     

η and η′ Physics at MAMI

Decays of the η and the η′ represent a significant portion of the scientific program with the Crystal Ball at MAMI. This review summarizes the current status of the program and discusses some recent results, such as the slope parameter of the η → 3π⁰ Dalitz plot, the matrix element of η → π⁰γγ and the invariant mass of e ⁺ e ⁻γ from the η → e ⁺ e ⁻γ Dalitz decay. Possible future measurements are discussed.     

Search for the radiative decay η→π0γγ in the SND experiment at VEPP-2M

The η→π⁰γγ decay was investigated by the SND detector at VEPP-2M e⁺e⁻ collider in the reaction e⁺e⁻→φ→ηγ. Here we present the results and some details of this study. We report an upper limit (90% c.l.) Br(η→π⁰γγ)<8.4×10⁻⁴ as our final result. Our upper limit does not contradict the earlier measurement by GAMS spectrometer. To facilitate future studies a rather detailed review of the problem is also given.     

B →πη（′）, η（′）η（′） decays and NLO contributions in the pQCD approach＊

By employing the perturbative QCD （pQCD） factorization approach, we calculate the full leading and the partial next-to-leading order （NLO） contributions to the seven B →πη（′） and η（′）η（′） decays. For B^＋→ π＋η（′） decays, the pQCD predictions for their decay rates agree very well with the data after the inclusion of the small NLO contributions. For neutral decays, the pQCD predictions are also consistent with the experimental upper limits and can be tested by the LHC experiments. The measured value of dir .Acp^dir（π＋η）= 19±7% can also be accommodated by the pQCD approach.     

Study of B s 0 → µ+µ− and B d 0 → µ+µ− decays in flavor-changing Z′ models

Recently, the first evidence for the decay B _s ⁰ → μ ⁺ μ ^? has been announced by the LHCb Collaboration and the measured branching ratio B( _s ⁰ → μ ⁺) = (3.2 _?1.2 ^+1.5 ) × 10^?9 is in good agreement with the standard model (SM) expectation. It has also reported an upper limit for B(B _d ⁰ → μ ⁺ μ ^?) < 9.4 × 10^?10 at 95% confidence level. In this paper, we study the B _s ⁰ → μ ⁺ μ ^? and B _d ⁰ → μ ⁺ μ ^? rare decays in flavor-changing Z′ model. Our estimated branching ratios are enhanced from their SM values and provide signals for new physics.     

An overview of η and η' decays at BESIII

The world's largest sample of J/ψ events, 1.31 billion events accumulated at the BESIII detector, provides a unique opportunity to investigate η and η physics via two-body J/ψ radiative or hadronic decays. For many η decay channels the low background data samples are up to three orders of magnitude larger than collected in any previous experiment. Here we review the most significant results on η and η obtained at BESIII so far. The analyses range from detailed studies of common decay dynamics, observations of new radiative and Dalitz decays, and searches for rare/forbidden decays with sensitivity up to B～10-5. Finally, prospects of forthcoming runs at the J/ψ peak forη and η physics are discussed.     

A data-driven approach to π~0,η and η′ single and double Dalitz decays

The dilepton invariant mass spectra and integrated branching ratios of the single and double Dalitz decays P→l~+l~-γ and P→l~+l~-l~+l~-(P=π~0,η,η';l=e or μ) are predicted by means of a data-driven approach based on the use of rational approximants applied to π~0,η and η' transition form factor experimental data in the space-like region.     

Measurements of the γγ＊ → π^0 and γγ＊ → ηc transition form factors at BABAR

We present measurements of the γγ＊ → π^0 transition form factor for the momentum transfer range Q^2=4-40 GeV^2 and the γγ＊ → ηc transition form factor for the range Q^2=2-50 GeV^2. The current status of measurements of the meson-photon transition form factors for the η and η＇ mesons is discussed. The results of the measurement of the ηc mass, total and two-photon widths are also presented.     

Event generators for η/η' decays at BESⅢ

The light unflavoured meson η/η' decays are valuable for testing non-perturbative quantum chromodynamics and exploring new physics beyond the Standard Model. This paper describes a series of event generators, including η/η'→γl~+l~-, η/η'→γπ~+π~-, η'→ωe~+e~-, η→π~+π~-π~0, η/η'→π~0π~0π~0, η'→ηππ andη'→π~+π~-π~+π~-/π~+π~-π~0π~0, which have been developed for investigating η/ηdecay dynamics. For most of these generators, their usability has been validated in BESIII analyses for determining the detection efficiency, and background studies. The consistency between data and Monte Carlo shows that these generators work well in the BESⅢ simulation, and will also be useful for ongoing BESⅢ analyses and other experiments for studying η/η' physics.
