The electronic structure and magnetic properties of Fe2SiC compound have been studiedusing the framework of an all-electron full-potential linearized augmented-plane wave(FP-LAPW) method within the local density (LSDA) and + U corrected(LSDA + U)approximations. An antiferromagnetic spin ordering of Fe atoms is shown to be the groundstate for this compound. From the electronic band structures and density of states (DOS),Fe2SiC has ametallic character and from the analysis of the site and momentum projected densities, itis deduced that the bonding is achieved through hybridization of Fe-3d with C-2p states andFe-3d withSi-3pstates. It is also pointed out that the Fe-C bonding is more covalent than Fe-Si. In theFM phase, the spin polarized calculations indicate that the total magnetic moment ofFe2SiC increasesfrom 0.41 to 4.33μ B when the Hubbard U parameter for iron isconsidered.  相似文献

Single crystals of Pb2Fe2Ge2O9 have been grown. They were subjected to X-ray diffraction, magnetic, neutron diffraction, Mössbauer and spin resonance studies. It has been established that Pb2Fe2Ge2O9 is a weak ferromagnet with a Néel temperature T N = 46 K, and the exchange and spin-flop transition fields have been estimated. It has been demonstrated that the weak ferromagnetic moment is actually the result of the single-ion anisotropy axes for the magnetic moments of different magnetic sublattices being not collinear.  相似文献

Electrical transport and structural characterizations of isoelectronically substituted Ba(Fe0.9Ru0.1)2As2 have been performed as a function of pressure up to ~ 30 GPa and temperature down to ~ 10 K using designer diamond anvil cell. Similar to undoped members of the AFe2As2 (A = Ca, Sr, Ba) family, Ba(Fe0.9Ru0.1)2As2 shows anomalous a-lattice parameter expansion with increasing pressure and a concurrent ThCr2Si2 type isostructural (I4/mmm) phase transition from tetragonal (T) phase to a collapsed tetragonal (cT) phase occurring between 12 and 17 GPa where the a is maximum. Above 17 GPa, the material remains in the cT phase up to 30 GPa at 200 K. The resistance measurements show evidence of pressure-induced zero resistance that may be indicative of high-temperature superconductivity for pressures above 3.9 GPa. The onset of the resistive transition temperature decreases gradually with increasing pressure before completely disappearing for pressures above ~ 10.6 GPa near the T-cT transition. We have determined the crystal structure of the high-T c phase of Ru-doped BaFe2As2 to remain as tetragonal (I4/mmm) by analyzing the X-ray diffraction pattern obtained at 10 K and 9.7 ± 0.7 GPa, as opposed to inferring the structural transition from electrical resistance measurement, as in a previous report [S.K. Kim, M.S. Torikachvili, E. Colombier, A. Thaler, S.L. Bud’ko, P.C. Canfield, Phys. Rev. B 84, 134525 (2011)].  相似文献

We have performed a complex investigation of the structure and the magnetic and electrical properties of a warwickite single crystal with the composition Fe1.91V0.09BO4. The results of Mössbauer measurements at T=300 K indicate that there exist “localized” (Fe2+, Fe3+) and “delocalized” (Fe2.5+) states distributed over two crystallographically nonequivalent positions. The results of magnetic measurements show that warwickite is a P-type ferrimagnet below T=130 K. The material exhibits hopping conductivity involving strongly interacting electrons. The experimental data are analyzed in comparison to the properties of the initial (unsubstituted) Fe2BO4 warwickite. The entire body of data on the electric conductivity and magnetization are interpreted on a qualitative basis.  相似文献

Changes in the local magnetic and structural properties of Sm2Fe17 alloys at nitrogenation and hydrogenation of samples have been studied by the X-ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD) technique at the Fe K absorption edge and Sm L3 absorption edge using synchrotron radiation. The results have been discussed in comparison with X-ray diffraction data and macroscopic vibration magnetometry measurements. The observed changes in XMCD spectra indicate a noticeable effect of nitrogenation on the local magnetic properties of sublattices of both iron and samarium, whereas hydrogenation of samples makes a small effect. The mentioned effects have been analyzed and discussed in terms of the effect of nitrogen (N) and hydrogen (H) interstitial atoms on Sm 5d and Fe 4p electronic states. The effect of nitrogenation is larger than the effect of hydrogenation because the volume expansion of the crystal lattice of initial Sm2Fe17 in the case of nitrogenation is larger than that in the case of hydrogenation. The studied local magnetization curves for samarium and iron sublattices in magnetic fields up to 17 T also indicate a strong increase in the magnetocrystalline anisotropy at nitrogenation.  相似文献

The Fe2VAl Heusler alloy is of great interest because ab initio calculations predict the absence of magnetization in it and a half-metal behavior with a pseudogap at the Fermi level. At the same time, experimental data (low-temperature specific heat, electrical resistivity, and magnetic properties) show that it is difficult to achieve such characteristics, and Fe2VAl samples usually have the characteristics of a poor magnetic metal. Ab initio calculations have been performed for ordered and disordered (Fe1–xV x )3Al Heusler alloys with x = 0.33. It has been shown that the alloy in a structurally ordered state (L21 structure) is a half-metal with a deep pseudogap at the Fermi level and does not have magnetization. At the same time, antisite defects in the iron and vanadium sublattices of the disordered alloy (D03 structure) lead to an increase in the conductivity and to the appearance of spin polarization and magnetization of (2.1±0.1)μB/f.u. The short-range order in the disordered phase has been generated by increasing the concentration of clusters characteristic of the bcc structure of α-Fe, which results in an increase in the magnetization to (2.5±0.1)μB/f.u.  相似文献

The magnetic susceptibility and specific heat of single crystals of the Ba2Fe2GeO7 barium ferrigermanate are investigated. It is revealed that the temperature dependence of the magnetic susceptibility exhibits a kink at a temperature T = 8.5 K. The number of nonequivalent positions of Fe3+ ions and their occupancies are determined using Mössbauer spectroscopy. It is shown that the Fe3+ ions located in tetrahedral positions T2 are ordered incompletely, which is inconsistent with the results obtained previously. An assumption is made regarding the possible ground magnetic state of the Ba2Fe2GeO7 compound.  相似文献

We have studied the electronic and magnetic structures of the ternary iron arsenides AFe2As2 (A = Ba, Ca, or Sr) using the first-principles density functional theory. The ground states of these compounds are in a collinear antiferromagnetic order, resulting from the interplay between the nearest and the next-nearest neighbor superexchange antiferromagnetic interactions bridged by As 4p orbitals. The correction from the spin-orbit interaction to the electronic band structure is given. The pressure can reduce dramatically the magnetic moment and diminish the collinear antiferromagnetic order. Based on the calculations, we propose that the low energy dynamics of these materials can be described effectively by a t-J H -J 1-J 2-type model [2008, arXiv: 0806.3526v2].  相似文献

The magnetization, Hall effect, and resistivity of Heusler alloys Co2FeZ (where Z = Al, Si, Ga, Ge, In, Sn, and Sb are s- and p-elements) have been studied at T = 4.2 K in magnetic fields H ≤ 100 kOe. In strong fields (H > 20 kOe), magnetization can be described by the Stoner model. The normal R 0 and anomalous R S Hall effect coefficients have been determined. The coefficient RS is positive for almost all the studied alloys and represents a “linearly quadratic” resistivity function incorporating linear and quadratic terms. The constant R 0 is negative for most alloys, and its absolute value is two or three orders of magnitude smaller than for R S . The magnetoresistivity of the studied alloys does not exceed several percent and may be both positive and negative for different specimens.  相似文献

We investigate the electronic and magnetic properties of Fe2MnGa1?x Si x alloy (x = 0, 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, and 1) using first-principles density functional theory within the generalized gradient approximation method. The lattice constant decreases linearly whereas bulk modulus increases with increasing Si content. The total magnetic moment varies linearly with increasing Si content, which follows the Slater-Pauling rule. Electronic band structure calculations indicate that the Fe2MnGa1?x Si x exhibits half-metallic character for all the concentrations studied and the spin polarization and the spin-down band gap both increase with the Si content. Based on the magnetic properties calculations, the Heisenberg exchange coupling parameters give Fe-Mn ferromagnetic coupling and Mn-Mn antiferromagnetic coupling. The T C first decreases and then increases with Si content, which is in well agreement with the experimental results.  相似文献

The crystal and magnetic structures of Fe1.087Te have been studied by neutron powder diffraction in the temperature range from 1.7 to 80 K at pressures of  ≈0.4 and ≈1.2 GPa. No symmetry change of the tetragonal paramagnetic ambient pressure phase (space group P4/nmm) was observed for temperatures above 60 K and pressures up to  ≈1.2 GPa. A novel pressure-induced phase of Fe1.087Te having orthorhombic symmetry (space group Pmmn) and incommensurate antiferromagneticbicollinear order was observed in the temperature range from 50 to 60 K at  ≈1.2 GPa. The known monoclinic ambient pressure phase of Fe1.087Te (space group P2 1/n) with commensurate antiferromagnetic order was found to be stable up to at least  ≈1.2 GPa at low temperature.  相似文献

Metastable solid solutions (SS) Mn3FeTiSbO9 and Mn4FeTi2SbO12 with the ilmenite structure (space group R\(\bar 3\)) have been prepared by quenching at normal conditions. The compositions of the compounds have been justified using EDX spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. The magnetic properties of SSs have been analyzed by comparison with ferrimagnetic ilmenite Mn2FeSbO6 (TN = 269 K) as a natural mineral and ceramics obtained at high pressure and high temperature. The solid solutions have been characterized as dilute magnetic systems formed as a result of substitution of nonmagnetic cations Ti4+ for a part of Fe3+ and Sb5+ cations. Mn3FeTiSbO9 is considered as a ferromagnetic with TN = 171 K and Mn4FeTi2SbO12 as a magnetic with the concentration of magnetic clusters below the percolation threshold.  相似文献

The heat capacity of band magnets Fe2MeAl (Me = Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni) ordered in crystal structure L21 has been measured in the range 2 K ≤ T ≤ 50 K. The dependences of the Debye temperature ΘD, the Sommerfeld coefficient γ, and the temperature-independent contribution to heat capacity C0 on the number of valence electrons z in the alloys have been determined.  相似文献

The crystal structure and magnetic properties of the Bi1 ? x Ca x Fe1 ? x/2Nb x/2O3 system were studied. It is shown that, at x ≤ 0.15, the unit-cell symmetry of solid solutions is rhombohedral (space group R3c). Solid solutions with x ≥ 0.3 have an orthorhombic unit cell (space group Pbnm). The rhombohedral compositions are antiferromagnetic, while the orthorhombic compositions exhibit a small spontaneous magnetization due to Dzyaloshinski?-Moriya interaction. In CaFe0.5Nb0.5O3, the Fe3+ and Nb5+ ions are partially ordered and the unit cell is monoclinic (space group P21/n). In the concentration range 0.15 < x < 0.30, a two-phase state (R3c + Pbnm) is revealed.  相似文献

A theoretical analysis of small-angle neutron scattering is performed for the Fe65Ni35 alloy at a temperature T=0.9T C =450 K. The results obtained indicate the existence of long-wavelength magnetic excitations that do not correspond to spin waves of the Holstein-Primakoff type. The possible nature of these excitations is discussed.  相似文献

Layered single crystals of the TlGa0.5Fe0.5Se2 alloy in a dc electric field at temperatures ranging from 128 to 178 K are found to possess variable-range-hopping conduction along natural crystal layers through states localized in the vicinity of the Fermi level. The parameters characterizing the electrical conduction in the TlGa0.5Fe0.5Se2 crystals are estimated as follows: the density of states near the Fermi level NF = 2.8 × 1017 eV?1 cm?3, the spread in energy of these states ΔE = 0.13 eV, the average hopping length Rav = 233 Å, and the concentration of deep-lying traps N t = 3.6 × 1016 cm?3.  相似文献

The relaxation electronic phenomena occurring in TlGa0.99Fe0.01Se2 single crystals in an external dc electric field are investigated. It is established that these phenomena are caused by electric charges accumulated in the single crystals. The charge relaxation at different electric field strengths and temperatures, the hysteresis of the current-voltage characteristic, and the electric charge accumulated in the TlGa0.99Fe0.01Se2 single crystals are consistent with the relay-race mechanism of transfer of a charge generated at deep-lying energy levels in the band gap due to the injection of charge carriers from the electric contact into the crystal. The parameters characterizing the electronic phenomena observed in the TlGa0.99Fe0.01Se2 single crystals are determined to be as follows: the effective mobility of charge carriers transferred by deep-lying centers μf=5.6×10?2 cm2/(V s) at 300 K and the activation energy of charge transfer ΔE=0.54 eV, the contact capacitance of the sample C c =5×10?8 F, the localization length of charge carriers in the crystal d c =1.17×10?6 cm, the electric charge time constant of the contact τ=15 s, the time a charge carrier takes to travel through the sample t t =1.8×10?3 s, and the activation energy of traps responsible for charge relaxation ΔE σ = ΔE Q = 0.58 eV.  相似文献

The complex methods of the physicochemical analysis are used to study TlGaTe2–Te and TlInTe2–Te alloys in which the tellurium solubility region up to 5.0 at % is observed. The temperature dependences of the lattice parameters and the electrical conductivity of TlGaTe2 + x and TlInTe2 + x have been studied in different crystallographic directions. The TlGaTe2 + x and TlInTe2 + x solid solutions undergo a phase transition at a temperature of 498 K. The transition nature is interpreted.  相似文献

The low-temperature specific heat C p of La(Fe0.873Co0.007Al0.12)13 compound has been measured in two states: (i) antiferromagnetic (AFM) with a Néel temperature of T N = 192 K and (ii) ferromagnetic (FM). The FM order appears at T = 4.2 K in a sample exposed to an external magnetic field with induction B C ≥ 2.5 T and is retained for a long time in a zero field at temperatures up to T*C = 23 K. The coefficient γFM in the low-temperature specific heat C = γT + βT 3 in the FM state differs quite insignificantly from that (γAFM) in the AFM state. Contributions to the low-temperature specific heat, which are related to a change in the elastic and magnetoelastic energy caused by magnetostrictive deformations, are considered.  相似文献
